Become The Vampire 17

You grab your phone and send a message to Meliora to thank her for watching out for Sammy, as well as to ask her to let Sammy know you're alright and that you're looking forward to track in the afternoon. There's no immediate reply from her, and you follow up with a message to Sammy to tell her you're fine. You look at the message, and elaborate a bit, letting her know you're not mad and that if she doesn't at least message you back that she's fine you'll do something childish and frustrating.

You consult your hemomancy tome, sifting through it and using your phone to help translate sections of the text. Blood magic is the art of sacrifice, and you spend a little time seeing what types of sacrifice exist and what the spells you're capable of require. Most of them draw directly upon and make use of your blood, crude spells powered by the raw magic held within that vital fluid. There's nothing delicate or subtle about them, like the spells you used with Jennifer. You only cast a few comparatively minor spells before burning out completely.

The other types of sacrifice seem to be rather esoteric, concepts like knowledge or ability. The spell that extracted truth worked by causing someone to sacrifice their ability to lie. Apparently it takes more brain power to lie or something, and the sacrifice is access to that ability, which you were only able to “sacrifice” because it was offered to you. The blood cost for that was fairly minor in terms of actual fluid spent, and mainly you just needed to form the array for the spell.
>>
You flip to the spell to manipulate objects after a brief search, which sacrifices “bodily energy” to allow you to control the movements of small objects, about the size of a fist. From what you can surmise it expends calories, twice the amount as actually moving the object yourself. There's no weight limit, just a size limit; something that can easily be grasped with one hand. The caloric burn is relative to the weight. You could manipulate a lead weight, but raising a kite into the air, according to the spell, would be impossible. The price is paid based on how you move the object. Keeping it steady costs much less than flinging it with some force.

After some debate, as well as making sure that the spell won't require too much blood, you decide to cast the spell. You form the array from your blood and cast it as a held spell. You practice with a pencil, then a book, and finally your phone. So long as you can visualize it, you can even type messages with your phone in your pocket or activate your suit app. You check your phone and spot a message from Sammy, opening it as you head to the bathroom to wash up and get changed for breakfast.

“I'm fine, but I can't face you. I bit you. I'm so sorry.”

You set your phone down and step into the shower, scrubbing yourself down. You feel like you should be worried about something, but you can't think of what. You step out of the shower and dry off, before sending Sammy a message that you forgive her for it. As you pull on your uniform, it dawns on you why she would be so upset and fearful of your reaction.

You were bitten by a werewolf.

>>
You grab your dad's notebook and skim through the pages, looking for the section on werewolves. When you find it, you note a few interesting tidbits. First of all, a werewolf has to be fully shifted to pass on their curse to another person. A runt like Sammy would never be able to manage it, although that does mean that she's freaking out right now over nothing. You should probably fix that.

The other thing that you note is something you've probably glanced at a hundred times and never read through fully, the passage on hybrid werewolves. Werewolf curses don't hybridize well; either the result is one, the other, or a runt who carries both types of curse, caught in the middle in terms of bloodline and form. Runts are rare, partly because intermarriage between clans is rare, and partly because both forms of the curse need to be equally potent.

You slip the notebook back into its hiding place and grab your book bag, stashing your hemomancy tome back under the sink and taking a moment to consider your day. You've probably got even more catching up to do, but you've got your textbooks sorted out now and can study at your leisure. At worst you'll be sore again today from shop class and your gym classes, but oh well.

You send Sammy a follow-up text to let her know you don't have the werewolf curse and glance at Jennifer for a moment. She's fast asleep and won't notice you leaving, so instead you send a text to her phone wishing her a good morning. You head out to get breakfast and get a relieved response from Sammy, along with a request to meet for breakfast and talk.

>Rules
Same system as Become The Dragon Quest. If you don't know what that is, it's best of three d20 rolls. I name a stat that sums up what you're trying to do, and if I don't name a relevant skill, you try to fill in the blank based on what you're trying to accomplish. “Break open the door” might be Strength based, but if you've been playing baseball after school and there's a lead pipe nearby, you could apply your Baseball skill to the roll. A 20 on the die is a crit threat, and if either of the other two rolls is 20 or higher after mods, it's a critical. A crit fail is when you have two or more 1s. So far this system has worked out well enough. We'll get into combat rules as needed, but in basic terms you have wounds, not HP, and the worse the wounds, the more penalties you accrue while doing other things.

Most Important Rule:
Have fun.

Hey, don't go stealing my insults.
>>
You text Sammy back letting her know you'll be at the dining hall, and you head over there to get some food. Along the way you get a little more practice in with the spell. The range seems to be about ten feet, and you're noticing that there's a particular sort of tiredness that comes from using your magic too much. Jennifer's advice for repeated, light exercise of your magic makes this kind of ideal though, so long as it's not making your blood evaporate or anything. You stop your practice when you think about that. That would be... less than ideal.

You grab a bowl of cereal for breakfast today and grab a seat at an empty table near the edge of the room so you can talk with Sammy discretely. You look around for her and don't spot her right away, but you finally catch sight of her by the food line. She looks pretty tired, but not as bad as you were expecting. Meliora is with her, talking about something you can't hear. She looks your way and gives you a slight wave, and you wave back before returning to your cereal.

As they approach, you nudge a pair of chairs out a bit for them to sit at, and one is immediately snatched up by Tobias. He smiles cheerfully at you, setting his plate of eggs and toast down and resting his backpack on the back of one of the chairs you set out.

“Hey there! Mind if I sit with you? I'm Tobias, remember? I don't think I caught your name yesterday... I think it was Oliver or something, right?”

Meliora and Sammy walk to your other side, and Meliora glances at Tobias before looking at you.

“Friend of yours?”

>Sorry Toby, this is a private engagement, I need to talk to them

You shrug a bit and turn to Tobias.

“You'll have to ask them. I don't particularly mind.”

Tobias nods and smiles at Meliora and Sammy.

“Hey there. I'm Tobias. I'm new here, just transferred this year. And this guy-”

He motions to you.

“-saved my butt the other day in gym class. Plus we've got math together and I don't have a study partner for that yet. Mind if I sit with you guys, get to know you? I, uh... don't really have anyone else I can eat with.”

Meliora sits down across from you.

“I don't care. I've devoted literally zero percent of my processing power to caring about the matter. I'm just fulfilling a favor at the moment.”

Sammy sits down next to you and smiles.

“It's fine with me. The more the merrier.”

Tobias grins and sits down, digging in. You lean back in your chair and look at Sammy, who promptly looks down at her hands. She glances back and forth between them and you.

“Sorry about last night. I... overreacted. A lot.”

She looks over at Tobias, then back at her hands.

“I was thinking about... us. I'm more clear-headed now, and I was thinking... maybe this won't be all fairytales and romance and perfection. But I don't want to give up just yet. What do you think?”

You slip your hand into your bag and retrieve the pack of cards, keeping them hidden from view.

“I'm not giving up either. I mean, things have been... weird, sure, but it's not like it's stuff most people don't go through anyway. Plus I've already met your parents and mine are dead, so... that's that crossed off the list.”

You laugh, trying to lighten the mood a bit, and Tobias rests a hand on your shoulder. You turn around to face him and find him looking at you with a face full of support and compassion.

“If you ever need any help, I've got your back. My dad died a few years back, I know it can be rough.”

You gently pull his hand off your shoulder and give him a nod.

“I appreciate that. I'll probably take you up on that at some point.”

You turn back to Sammy while casually tossing the cards to Meliora.

“My point is that I'm not afraid of... stuff. So you've got unique problems, so what? Who doesn't? I know I do. We can make this work somehow.”

Sammy hugs your arm tightly and smiles.

“Alright... As long as it's alright...”

Meliora rises to her feet, gripping the pack of cards with both hands and staring at it.

“...where... where did you get these?”

She rips off the wrapper before you can respond, her eyes going wide, and she sprints away, shouting something about an “event ticket”. It's like Charlie just got the last golden ticket or something. Sammy releases your arm.

“I'll let you get to class. I'll see you later, alright?”

No, helping Jennifer with Patrick is what gave us access to her. And she's teaching us in exchange for spending one night a week with us. Please remember what was actually chosen, not just what you want to.

Saving Sammy from the vamp did get us invited to the party, and being nice to her did give her the courage to stand up to her mom, which is what got Jennifer interested in us. “Who wants to know? If you're interested in her then I'd like to know who my competition is.”

Tobias blinks, before laughing a bit.

“Man, I'm just curious. I heard you transferred in the other day and I wanted to know how you wound up so lucky. I mean, captain of the track team? Those legs, dude... It's like they go on for miles.”

He smirks.

“But seriously, I meant what I said. I'm just trying to make some friends around here. You both seem really nice, and I'm making small-talk.”

You nod slightly and adjust your bag.

“It's only been a few days, but it's been pretty wild. To make a long story short, it's been an emotional rollercoaster. I'm still figuring a few things out.”

Tobias nods slowly and pats you on the back.

“At least you've managed to land a cute girl though, right? That puts you ahead of most guys here. Half the girls here act like if you were on fire their first response would be to grab some marshmallows. Or maybe that's just me... You want to ignore the context of what claiming means to werewolves? Fine.

Let's let this excellent story premise devolve into "generic supernatural dating simulator quest version 10“
You sad, lonely kid.

That's two in a row where I've been the only good roll in the first three.

You shake your head.

“You're still good. At worst you're right about coming off as a bit much, but it doesn't bug me or anything.”

Tobias lets out a sigh and smiles.

“That's good...”

You rummage through your bag briefly, pretending to look for something as you speak.

“As for the girls, you're right about most of them being a little snooty. I mean, it's a school for rich kids, you can't expect them to all be approachable. But some of the girls are so pale from sitting around their palaces all day long I almost expect them to burst into flames in the sunlight like a vampire or something.”

You chuckle and look at Tobias, and your laughter dies. He's giving you an odd look, before he leans in conspiratorially, glancing around a bit.

“You wouldn't be all that wrong to think that.”

He reaches into his pocket and pulls something out, pushing it into your hand. You look down at the business card for a moment. Tobias Handel, Paranormal Investigator. On the reverse side it reads Red Fields Occult Club. He grins.

“The next meeting is tonight.”

>Paranormal crap isn't for me, sorry.

Alright big guy, carry on, if you'd notice I was happy to get away from waifus to Bro out with Toby since I hate waifu quests, but having a girl is just having a girl, it's a normal thing mate.

Yeah let's ignore what it means to werewolves as Sammy knows we don't know shit. Also that shit's for adult werewolves, she ain't geting married this early. why'd you think she wasn't already to married to the one with a claim on her? Age blud.

Wave your left hand here,it's fine, do it in some places in the middle east, it's a grave insult. While she's in the human world she can deal with human shit.

You pocket the card and consider your next words carefully. You don't want to sound too eager for information, you want to be persuaded by him so you have excuses to tag along in the future. But you also don't want to sound too disinterested so he won't make a big deal about this. You smile a bit.

“Heh. You sound like a crazy conspiracy nut. Do you guys run around chasing ghost stories and stuff?”

Tobias smirks and nods.

“Of course. At the heart of any good ghost story is an actual ghost. Or monster. Sometimes both. Sometimes we even get our hands on actual occult artifacts, too! Well, at least, we think they are. Usually they get confiscated by our adviser when we try to mess with them. The club president got ahold of something really cool though, and tonight she's going to tell us all about it. It's gonna be big.”

You nod to yourself. Useful information.

“Well, consider me persuaded. I'll see about swinging by tonight to check it out.”

Tobias pumps his fist in the air.

“Whoo! Alright, sounds good. Now let's get hunting!”

He heads off into the locker room and you follow suit.

A word on skills. I've been using a sliding scale in terms of level of success. From now on, if you apply a relevant skill but not the exact skill (crossbows are ranged weapons, but they fire differently than bows), you lose a level of success with the result. It'll widen your crit range to apply Crossbow to this roll, but you'll take a penalty.

Hunting class isn't an absolute disaster, but it could have gone better. You spend the entire class watching Tobias hit bulls-eyes while you struggle to get an arrow to hit the target. You've mostly got it down by the end of class, but that's mostly because the teacher spends some time helping you out with direct instruction. The most memorable moment? When she took your hand and told you that your fingering was all wrong.

Chemistry class is mostly taking notes and listening to Fenright talk about elements and molecules. He opened the lecture talking about the four classical elements for a bit, and how science has progressed since then, outlining the evolution of our understanding of chemistry, but bits and pieces of what he said stick out to you, especially now that you know elemental magic exists. Did elemental magic influence the formation of Greek ideas about the physical world, or grow from them? Another question to ask your new magic teacher.

Math class is more of the same. Notes, and then the teacher knocks everyone out. The same two students stand up to talk, and the discussion is pretty similar to last time although the voices are different. Maybe those two students are pre-made disguises, and the math classroom is just the negotiation place for Professor Cowan.

As you head for your history class you get a pair of text messages, one from Meliora and one from Jennifer. The one from Meliora is all about how happy she is that she got those cards, and how she now has a legendary item set for her character. A real one, not a hacked one. She says that buys you two whole fuckups for her to sort out before she starts calling you an idiot again. Idiot. Last one, she swears.
>>
>>44203073
Well, this and our love/hate with /d/
>>
The text from Jennifer is short and sweet. “Slept well, best rest I've had in years. Thank you for letting me come over. How do Friday nights sound for our weekly meetup?” You consider your reply on your way to History class, but nothing springs immediately to mind. You're about to type a generic response just for something to say when you spot Sammy, and quickly pocket your phone. You'll message back later. Sammy runs over to you with a smile.

“Professor Luther said this next class is optional. It's an extra credit one. You can just drop off the religion stuff, he said.”

Well you certainly don't deserve anything that *isn't* an insult after your previous display, you gutless whoreson.

You head for the classroom regardless and shrug a bit, smiling.

“I need to check in with my religious zealot anyway. I don't want to just turn in my stuff and ignore her view of things. We were going to meet up yesterday to work on the project together and accidentally missed it. Because of reasons.”

Sammy nods.

“Well, I'll be in the library, alright? Text me if you need me, and I'll see you there, or at lunch.”

She turns and walks off, and you fish your phone out of your pocket as you make your way to History.

“Friday works just fine for me. Is that going to be the usual day then?”

You hit send and walk into the classroom to find Professor Luther and Catherine. Catherine is sitting at her desk, working on a stack of papers, while Professor Luther is at his desk grading homework. You walk over to Catherine and sit down.

“Hey there.”

Catherine perks up and turns to you, smiling shyly.

“O-Oh, hi there... Um... The professor told me you were out yesterday because of a medical thing... I hammered out a rough draft though. I didn't know if you'd be back, and it's due today, so...”

She motions to the papers. It's a stack of maybe twenty or so, mostly stuff taken directly from religious texts, highlighted and organized. You pull out your own papers of religious rules and doctrines, and Catherine glances at the professor before starting to speed read through them, making notes on her own papers.

“I can combine these pretty easily... The Healing Church is a pretty neat idea... There's plenty of room for tithes and taxes, special services to be offered... But I don't think we can just say we have a miracle cure, so we'll need to come up with a plan for that... Maybe we should pick a noble house to serve as our... What did you call them, hunters...?”

You smile at her and skim through some of her work while you talk. She's making a mini-bible of sorts for the project, and the sheer amount of effort is impressive. She's only had a few days, but maybe she got a jump start? Just how much of this is stuff she planned to show you yesterday? The paper is a little weird though. It feels slightly waxy, but it doesn't look shiny.

“We'll have to be careful as to how we choose our hunters. Loyalty is important, but so is skill. Maybe we should have them compete for the right, evaluate them based on some criteria, and pick from there?”

Catherine nods a bit, adjusting her glasses slightly.

“A tournament...? They each pick champions to represent the house, to win the favor of the church... It'll stir up all sorts of conflict, and... they'll need healers...”

You grin.

“So we bring in a system like modern medicine. We research technology from the time, old herbal cures, all that jazz. And then we ritualize the whole thing, from surgery to medical examinations. God told us what was wrong by showing the signs on the body for us to read, and guided our hands to save the lives of his devout. If someone dies during surgery, they weren't faithful enough. God judged them.”

Catherine takes her pages back and begins scribbling, jotting down your words almost verbatim.

“I'll compile everything properly tonight so we have little books to pass out tomorrow, but if you have time, can we meet up...? I want to make sure that I have it right... At the very least, I want to send you a copy when I'm done to see what you think...”

“I figured I'd pick a night when you don't have school the next day in case we're up late. It also gives you the whole weekend to practice whatever I teach you. It's also the easiest night for me to slip away. So yes, it will be the usual night. By the by, you should probably hide your book better. I found it while looking for a towel. Under the sink? Really?”

You pocket your phone and consider your options. You've got half a class period, then lunch. Jennifer is still at your room, and Meliora either didn't notice or was so consumed by her game she didn't care. Sammy is waiting for you in the library but isn't expecting you til lunch time.

You head back to your room to make sure Meliora and Jennifer haven't killed each other, or worse. You shoot Sammy a quick text telling her that you'll meet her for lunch and make your way into the dorm building, pausing briefly outside your door before knocking. Jennifer opens the door in just a towel, soaking wet.

“So I text you that I'm naked and fresh out of the shower, and you immediately come running, but when I dress up for you, you barely notice at all. Well, at least now I know what frequency your brain is tuned to.”

She turns and walks over to the couch, sitting beside Meliora and picking up a controller. The game unpauses, and Meliora looks over at you briefly.

“We're playing a fighting game. It's the best way to get to know someone. I mean, I had to dial back my skill level to accommodate her, but still.”

Jennifer suddenly flicks the control stick around while hammering a few buttons, executing a combo that takes Meliora out in seconds. She runs a hand through her hair and smiles.

“That's for saying, out loud, that you were going easy on me. This game is about reading your opponent, timing your responses, rapid and coordinated finger movements, and memorizing detailed information. Did you take me for some sort of rookie?”

Meliora looks at her for a moment, eyes glowing pink.

“I'm taking you down a peg, Lassie.”

You stand in the doorway as you watch the second round, both of them playing the game at a skill level you can't hope to match. You close the door and make a few token efforts to do the obvious. Toy with the towel? Nope, too big. Interact with Jennifer's body? Nope, can't isolate her breast from the rest of her. Mess up their game? Nope, not precise enough. Still, handy information.

You move behind the couch and kneel down, resting your arms on the back while you watch.

“So Meliora, what happened last night with Sammy? And the vampires?”

Jennifer arches an eyebrow, but her focus remains on the game. Meliora shrugs a bit.

“Canny found her in the woods. We talked for a bit. I convinced her you're not a total moron and you'd eventually forgive her for whatever it was she did, and we headed back to school. The vampires had been watching her for a bit, and they tried to get close to meddle with her. Something about Vanessa? I dusted half of them during the fight and got the last two when they turned to run. That's really all there was to it. I stayed with her til breakfast.”

You nod a bit.

“Thanks again. I appreciate the help keeping her safe.”

You turn towards Jennifer and smile.

“I think I found a solution to Sammy's problem. Well, part of one at least. My dad's old notebook has a few interesting facts about werewolves, as well as why runts happen. Sammy's got two curses, one from you and one from Patrick, and they're fighting it out inside her, evenly matched. If one got stronger than the other, she'd be a normal werewolf.”

Jennifer's thumb slips on the controller and she messes her combo up, half her health vanishing in seconds as she recovers.

“When two spells interact, they only ever produce side-effects like that in the case of a perfect balance. The odds are miniscule... But that gives us a starting point. The only question is which curse to manipulate.”

You nod slightly and check your phone. Lunch is soon. You glance at the game console and debate turning it off and denying either of them a conclusion to their fight. Hmm...

Patrick and Samantha embrace it, so the curse gets worse so they still have something to fear.

“I'd rather have yours on her than Patrick's. She couldn't control herself last night, and she might have inherited that from him. We'll need to check a few things... Apparently the curse gets like that when you stop fearing your wild side. You apparently still fear a lack of control over yourself enough that it hasn't made you lose control like that. They've just kinda accepted it.”

You pause for a moment and consider what you pried out of Jennifer about her secret fantasy. She'd be terrified and aroused beyond belief if she still has that fear. Hmm.

“At any rate... It's been fun, but I've gotta head out.”

You adjust your pack and head for the door, trying to hit the power switch on the way out. The console is too big and the button too small for you to flick it precisely, but an effort was made. Maybe for your next spell you should try something that lets you manipulate small things that are part of large things, so you can meddle more easily.

You head for the dining hall and spot Sammy talking to one of the girls you recognize as a vampire. As you approach, the vampire girl looks at you before turning away with a huff and walking off. Sammy rushes to your side, glaring at the girl.

“She said she was going to do something to force me into another blood pact if I didn't do something for her. She didn't tell me what though, she left when you came close... I think it has something to do with last night.”

Sammy sighs softly and turns to you.

“They're never this direct... Something fishy is going on...”

Your eyes roam in the direction the girl left in.

“Any information on her? Name, address, anything?”

Sammy shakes her head.

“Not really. Vanessa never introduced me to any of them, and they tend to keep to themselves. I'm not in any of her classes, either. We might be able to find out though. I could ask around, try to figure it out.”

You nod slightly.

“I'll do what I can as well. It looks like you're being used as a bargaining chip... Speaking of such things...”

You gently take her hand and lead her to the food line, speaking quietly as you make your way along. You explain to her what's causing her condition, what happened last night when she lost control, and that there's a way to help if you can figure it out. She's in tears by the end, sobbing silently. Her whole life she's had to deal with this, and then you swoop in and identify the cause. You smile to yourself. Oliver Spencer, Problem Solver in the employ of the Wolfe family. Sammy hugs you tightly.

“If... If you find a way... Oliver, please... I... I've only ever wanted to be normal... To not have to spend every moment fearing getting caught...”

She's talking about normal for werewolves, but you get the idea. You hug her back and collect your meals, walking with her to a table.

“I'm gonna figure it out. I've got a lot of other things I need to work out first before I tackle that one, but at least now there's something to work towards.”

You spend the rest of the meal discussing the track practice, and you bring up hanging out on Saturday with Andrea. Sammy tells you that she'll talk to her about it and let you know what happens. She gives you a kiss goodbye when lunch ends, and you head off to gymnastics. Once again you're flipping, tumbling and rolling on command like a trained dog, but Coach Paris has little to say on your technique that isn't praise.

You spend Literature class working on more free writing exercises, this time in the form of short stories. Mark's work is pretty solid, earning some proper applause for his efforts this time. Yours isn't bad, but Mark gave you a tough act to follow. He continues to be a smug prick, but he also doesn't seem to remember flipping out, even now, so he also continues not to properly respect his curse.

Your first Latin class is the most boring experience of your life. Your math class is at least tolerable because weird things happen in it and you get some insight into the worth of various forms of currency and objects of value, but your professor for Latin is an old, rambling man who barely makes any sense. It's like half his mind is gone or something. He hands out some notebooks with translation exercises and another with vocab sheets, along with a test schedule, then sits back to answer questions as they arise. You do the first few exercises and update your growing self-study list and unwind.

You spend shop class chiseling wood. That's really all there is to say on the matter. Your shop teacher continues to be dangerous and crazy, but you expected that trend to continue. When it lets out your arms ache, but a little blood flow adjustment to knead your sore muscles took care of that.

You head for the gym to get ready for the track meet and spy two vampire girls chatting up ahead. They haven't spotted you, or if they have they don't care. You don't know if they're waiting for Sammy, or for you, but they're milling about outside the gym for a reason.

You make your way closer step by step, taking your time and keeping out of view. You manage to make it to some lockers while they both look away, pressing up against the side and keeping your profile as narrow as possible. You use your magic to help still your thundering heart and quiet your heartbeat so you can listen in.

“I just don't get it. He killed Vanessa. That's a good thing. Instead of killing him we should be hiring him to get the others.”

“The problem is that the Wolfe family got to him first. The moment Samantha was free she got her claws into him. He's useless as a pawn for us now, even if we get him into a pact. Hunters know how to break those and work around them, my dad told me all about it.”

“Couldn't we just get rid of her then?”

“He'd see it as an act of aggression and turn on all of us. Lisa tried to pressure her into a pact earlier but we'd have heard about it if she was successful. It's a good thing she didn't though. If she had Samantha in a pact or tried to strong arm her, she'd be painting a target on her back.”

“Right, right... We actually like her now.”

“Well, that's what we're telling her. At any rate, Oliver Spencer is a wild card. And we can't have him messing anything else up. He either needs to be neutralized, controlled or expelled. And since he's a hunter, that means that the only real control we'd have over him is through those close to him.”

“So that's why Lisa went after Sammy? They're close?”

“One of my sources says he claimed her. Probably accidentally, but still. If nothing else, they're romantically involved.”

“Well, I hope he shows up soon. I'm bored.”

You walk out from your hiding spot and clear your throat. Both of the girls turn to face you. Both of them have black hair, with one wearing her hair in a braid that hangs over her shoulder and the other having cut her hair to shoulder length. You smile.

“Hello, ladies. I couldn't help overhearing your conversation, and I figured I'd amend a few things I noticed that were wrong. I went to the Wolfe family for protection and to form an alliance. Sammy didn't sink any claws in me at all.”

You wait for one of them to open their mouths, and when the short-haired one tries to speak you cut in.

“Vanessa tried to kill me after concluding I was a hunter. She tried to use Sammy as the murder weapon. I disagreed with her tactics. Now she's dust. I'm not making any threats, I'm just saying that the one vampire in this school who tried to kill me is now dead and dusted. I'm perfectly willing to let things be, I'm not actually a hunter. My dad was, and I learned from him the tricks I need to survive here.”

Another pause. This time the short-haired girl doesn't try to speak, she just eyes you warily.

“On the other hand, if there are mutually beneficial deals, then I'd be open to hearing them. A human who knows all about this school might have some uses, yes? Of course, you'd have to trust me like a vampire, since as you apparently know, hunters know their way around a blood pact.”

The short-haired girl looks at her companion, then at you.

“I'm willing to consider a non-aggression treaty. And by that I mean that if you assist one of my enemies, I will consider that an act of aggression and respond in kind. I'm sure that the others would agree as well. We maintain a delicate balance here, no one wants an all-out war in a public environment.”
>>
The other girl smiles gloomily.

“I kinda want to just eat you... But I'll go for it. If we get the others on board, you'd need to do deals for all of us at once if you want something, but we can crunch the numbers for you.”

The short-haired girl nods slightly.

“So, do we have an arrangement?”

You consider it for a moment.

“Include Sammy in the deal. She gets the same protection as me. I'll talk to her about it, see what she says, but I want that at least on the table for discussion. And if I die, the Wolfe family gets to hunt down my killer and make them pay if it's one of you. Believe me, if I'm going down, I'll go down swinging and leave a permanent mark. It'll be easy.”

The short-haired girl hesitates for a few moments.

“On the condition that her acts of aggression also lead to the pact being voided, yes.”

You smirk a bit.

“Well, we've got a rough draft. Let's gather the six of you and get it in writing, I guess. But for now I've got a track practice to get to.”

You walk past them towards the gym, smiling to yourself. Time to run for your life.

You head into the locker room and feel your phone buzz in your pocket. You look down and open the text while you grab some fresh workout clothes and head for a locker. It's from Jennifer.

“Your roommate and I made a few bets on our games. I won. We'll be along to the gym shortly to cheer you on.”

You open up a locker and stuff your bag into it before starting to get changed. You're dreading what might be involved. Meliora is probably going to kick your ass if Jennifer forced her into a cheerleader uniform or something. You pause for a moment and slowly turn to look at the locker number, closing the door slightly. Number four. Sammy said something about that, didn't she?

Your bag is launched from the locker, striking you in the chest. Fortunately it's not especially heavy. You can hear soft cackling, and the locker door slams closed. You rise to your feet and look at the locker. Sammy was right, haunted locker room. You reach for locker number five to avoid disturbing the ghost, and the door swings open sharply, knocking your hand aside, before more cackling fills the air. A sense of foreboding comes over you, like there's something right behind you, and a soft voice whispers in your ear.

“Boo...~”

>>
>>44209657
I really want to ship a teasing ghost and a taciturn golem for some reason.
>>
>>44209657
Neat.
>>
>>44209707
I haven't been keeping up with it, is it worth catching up on?

It's really fun.
On a Dark Story Telling scale, it's about a 7 out of 10
The relationship between Anon and Phanty is cute
I hope we find her again soon, hurts my heart not to have them together
>>44209805
Phanty Quest gets hate...?
>>
>>44209817
That works too.
>>
>>44209782
Yeah, The QM killed this quests "Anon" and now he's a ghost, pretty interesting, he's working on changing the "Winnie quest" to be less smut. which is what some of /tg/ hated about it, He probably going to have to use a different site to host that quest now.
>>
>>44209823
Winniequest got alot of flack but im assuming some people here don't know that winnie quest is related to this Phanty Quest.

We could ask if she's the gatekeeper
>>
>>44209843
to be fair, it was one idiot's roll that pushed us from simply "Probably going to need a cane" to "Fucking killed to death and became a ghost"
>>
>>44209843
Huh. I feel like I should be worried about the smut scenes in this quest then. Admittedly one was just a continuation of another with Oliver learning magic in between, but still.

I'll give Winnie and Phanty a read. I like bad literature, particularly those cheesy romance novels with the terrible sex scenes. They're like junk food to me, so even if they're written badly, I'll enjoy them.
>>
>>44209926
difference between yours and his is that you didnt host the smut in the quest you put it on pastebin, WQM pushed it with some cheesy mudwrestling.
>>
>>44209954
I feel like pastebin is the classier option. Not everyone wants to see that, it's a blue board, etc. Classy is what I aim for. I miss consistently, but I aim for it.
>>
>>44209995
Definitely prefer the pastebin option, yeah
>>
>>44209995
I don't mind pastebin, but maybe post those options in thread?
>>
>>44210084
I was thinking that, yeah. Probably wise.
>>
I've updated this again. I'll try to keep an updated version at the same url I think. Also I won't be able to do stuff from the 24th to the 4th.

Damn, this looks pretty good, anon
well done
>>
>>44210333
Thanks :3
It has a few flaws that I am not able to iron out, since I'm not actually good at LaTeX. But for now I'm kinda content with it.
>>
>>44210376
Your hard work is appreciated. You've done a considerable amount of work, and I'm thankful for it.
>>
>>44210463
It's mostly copy pasting desu. And adding "\\" to each line that is not the last in a box
But thanks anyways
