Warm rain pours down from the sky with thunder booming to echo the flashes of lightning that illuminate the darkened moon. Punisher Agona stands on top of her cruiser, turning her eyeless gaze on the alien world you had sent her to investigate. Diggers and Reconstructed troops work hard to dig out a fortified bunker as Gargoyles struggle to keep watch flying through the heavy rain. Keen-eyed Cyclops perch on top of watchtowers of bone and Trolls patrol the walls thrown up to protect the camp and ships.

The Frigate hovers silently in the air, its shield glimmering as the rain sizzles off the shell in the darkness. There had been no sign of the echinoderm natives, the captive Stonestar revealing in a terrified rattling of its armor that its people rarely climbed the mountains, claiming they were the territory of the Storms and where the Ahkam had dwelled.

Elsewhere in the same system a Think Tank oversees the construction of a mining base deep in a large crater on the surface of a protoplanet spinning in the asteroid belt. Silently diggers start to dig as Reconstructed set up the refining Cauldron under a shell of hastily grown bone.

Nekris' corvette approaches the last world in the system, a blue world spinning closer to the light of the bright star. White clouds cover portions of the globe obscuring the large oceans that covered the majority of the world, the landmasses green and blue with rivers and large jungles of plant-life. The Predator's Corvette detects no ship traffic but initial scans reveal there was some forms of artificial construction scattered across the islands and archipelagos.

This system was rich with opportunities, an ideal system to take your first step creating your own dynasty among the stars.

Completed Research:
>Monolith Remains
The deadly and powerful Monolith was an unexpected enemy that nearly crushed you when first encountered. The main bulk of the construct was a form of granite not native to the sunblasted system it was discovered on. Veins of peculiar crystal ran through it with a large concentration at its core directly connected to the lenses that broke the uniform surface of the Monolith. It had attacked with powerful attacks that seemed to manipulate gravity as an offensive weapon though the Think Tank refers to it as a Pressure attack. Studies and observations taken from the battle showed that Necrotic Energy had little to no effect on the construct, while Void powered attacks worked as normal.

>Void Weaponry
Your recently upgraded Think Tanks have gained an increased insight into the workings of the Void Energies that Lorgul and his Disciples so easily tap into. At your request they focused on ways to channel the destructive energies into weapons for use by your fleet.

Gained:
>By personally going over the findings of the Monoliths study you believe your own telekinetic powers could be increased or even reproduced in future Reconstructed troops.
>Unlocked Research: Combat Telekinesis: Very Slow

>The study and creation of Void-powered weaponry is now available. Jadyk or even Lorgul can personally see to the creation of new unique weapons while Think Tanks can now attempt to create Void-powered versions of current Necrotic fueled weapons

Elsewhere in the galaxy Eyegores drift through foreign star systems, watching and learning with their massive eyes and small fleets of remote satellites.

A blue dwarf system revealed to contain a single lonely planet overgrown with remarkable and colossal plant-life.

A binary system contained an Osjiic garrison to protect manufacturing plants and resource mines stripping the asteroid belt clean.

Two more systems remain to be discovered and you turn your attention to the pair of patiently waiting Eyegores and their results.

>Red Giant:
Another system surrounding a Red Giant with a multitude of worlds. A rather unremarkable gas giant with the remains of an attempted mining operation seemingly abandoned to focus on the bustling mining plants on it's sister planet. There was an inhospitable airless world covered in rock and boulders with a mining outpost mainly of automated drones. The real jewel of the system was a planet much like Horizon's Drop spotted with several colonies supported by the Confederacy. Radio transmissions intercepted show that several cities dot the planet where they farm their large crops that sustain them and are transported out of system to other locations.

>Red Dwarf:
Only a single green gas giant circles a small red star. The giant surrounded by a multitude of moons rich with mining operations and what appeared to be a picket fleet circling the planet with several sub-capitol and capitol ships being constructed or repaired on the surface of the moons by fleets of automated drones and workers sealed inside their plastic suits. Your Eyegore fears discovery with the constant traffic of ships arriving and leaving but it remains calm and focuses on its task.

There was much to be done. What shall you do?

We need to build something big. Very big.

It's time to start the dreadnought program.

Maybe once our Capitol ship research is finished or we find a space whale

Grave, are there space whales?
>>
>>44007292
I think it's time to take the attack.
Let's rally our forces and attack the red giant system
>>
>>44007374
We don't need them, by creating the entropy diggers we have shone that we can upscale current templates. So we just make a normal ship but a lot bigger
>>
>>44007292
Why don't we recon the Red Dwarf system now. The number of ships coming out of it intrigues me and if the eyegore is at risk of being found we would be better off getting it in and out as quickly as possible.
>>
No matter what we do we should set up an outpost in the blue dwarf planet.

Also we need to create more ships
>>
>>44007423
Or we can just start a foot hold on each. Look how fast our growth from nothing to this happened, we just need to send a small team to prepare each planet.

The Eyegore drifts closer to the planet and its many moons busy with activity, your words soothing its nervousness. It drinks in the sight of the moons holding their refineries and dry docks for ships to be built or repaired.

A patrol of fighter sized craft break away from the moons and head toward the eyegore making it quiver in alarm. Intercepted transmissions speak of an incoming meteor detected on sensors and needing to be destroyed. Your Eyegore asks if it could please return home.

You never got to answer as each of the fighters opens fire, beams of nearly invisible energy lancing through the Eyegore quickly followed by a cluster of stinger missiles.

Grumbling you lean back in your throne and clack your talons on the armrest in annoyance.

Floating high in orbit Predator Nekris stands on the hull of the corvette overlooking the planet covered in oceans. They seemed to enjoy standing in the silent void of space but eventually they return to the bridge to hear what the Think Tanks initial scans revealed of the planet.

With a surface area of nearly 80% water the planet held several small continents and an array of islands and archipelagos. The world was rather temperate with warm seas and only small polar ice caps. A single airless moon circles the planet, dragging the tides along with it. There appeared to be great reefs visible even from space clustered along the shores, several islands appearing to be formed from reefs emerging from the sea.

Jungles and swamps covered most of the land with several areas cleared of the trees where primitive cities were formed mostly along the coast where fleets of ships traveled the seas. On the dark-side of the world reveals the ships even at night, each sporting a bright green light so the fleets were visible even from space as sparkly swathes of light on the dark oceans.

The Coffins angle themselves and descend on the planet heading for the night side of the planet to better hide themselves from the locals. Entering the atmosphere was much easier than their trip to the surface of the Stonestars moon and soon they're sailing over the mostly calm seas, avoiding the hurricane that churned closer to the equator.

Islands pass underneath, the coffins spotting the occasional settlement along the coasts with a large bonfire in the center of the villages, the jungles and swamps held back by palisades of wood or walls of stone and dried mud.

A Coffin silently hovers over a boat bobbing in the water near a reef with several other boats anchored within shouting distance. A Gargoyle slithers out of a hatch to peer down at the boat as it sails silently over them.

Each boat had a large lantern that glowed with a green light but only seemed to contain a sloshing liquid. Each lantern was held on a pole over the surface of the water as the natives, vaguely humanoid creatures wrapped in woven vines and simple cloths using nets and long fishing spears to scoop up the flailing squid and eel-like creatures drawn to the light.

The other Coffin spots one of the larger village where it seemed to be a celebration of some kind was underway. The bonfire was burning bright in the middle of the settlement with the sound of music from drums and pipes made from conical shells fill the night air as the natives dance around a large wooden statue carved from a single tree, piles of food and goods stacked at the coiled base.

Nekris watches and growls softly at the image of the statue, a large coiling serpent with wings made from branches reaching up to the sky, shells and plants decorating the hide to appear as scales or feathers.

It appeared the Ahkam had already claimed this planet and its people.
>>
>>44011786
As your Coffins continue their sweep they spot a small storm churning the waters as it passes an unpopulated island. It almost passes on before spotting a signal fire on the shore next to a wrecked fishing boat. The Coffin swings around to investigate and spots a group of natives on the shore clustered on their boat.

Stalking the sand and lapping waves was a pack of creatures moving on a single pair of legs and webbed feet with their long bodies turning into flat paddletails. Their heads were mostly jaws large and full of teeth, spots of luminescence shining brightly in their maws as they lunge at the sides of the ship, snapping at the trapped locals. The fishers try to drive them off with fishing spears but their scaled hides turn away the wooden barbs.

A Gargoyle sailing overhead can hear the panicked shouts of the fishers, their boat missing a large chunk of his hull and threatening to be overtaken by the incoming tide already lapping at the sides. The predators swim rapidly through the water, searching for a way up to the boat and the prey hiding above.

As Nekris debates whether or not to get involved he watches as one of the predators leaps from the water at the crest of a wave and lands on the deck of the fishing boat. The natives are in a panic as it charges at them on its strong pair of legs, tackling one of the fishers and biting down with a maw that engulfs a good portion of the native. It keeps running leaping off the boat as spears are jabbed at it, dragging the screaming native into the water as another two of the predators follow them into the water.

More of the predators attempt to leap up, several starting to scramble up the sides and finally Nekris waves his hand idly. Lights on the coffin flare brightly above the scene, startling the predators and natives. Several trolls leap from the Coffin, landing in the shallows and running to tackle and wrestle a pair of the predators to the ground. The fishers shout in alarm and one tries running for the jungle only for a handful of Talons to land on the sand around them and tackle them to the ground.

More troops leap from the ship, peppering the ground with bone rifle slugs or glassing a portion of the beach with a short burst of a necrotic flayer to drive off the predators and scare the natives. Talons and Stingers land on the ship, snarling and hissing at the remaining natives who either try to run or cower on the ground.

On Horizon's Drop and it's moon several of your largest creations are awakened with a surge of necrotic power. The Entropic Excavators move on a multitude of short but strong legs to support their bulk and the large mining equipment that made up the majority of their mass. There is a ripple underneath then as they hover in place, their legs drawn up tight as cruisers descend to secure them to their bellies.

The large creations stoically allow themselves to be transported, hardly noticing their FTL trip as one is deposited on the protoplanet, its drill glowing as it spun up and started to dig into the hole the Digger drones had created. The others are spread throughout your mining operations, the large constructs already churning away at the ground in search for the rich ore to fuel your conquests.

>Entropic Excavators Created: 5

Jadyk glances up at a wall of bone that lights up, Nekris appearing before him. The Predator shares the recent developments and you nod, "Interesting. Continue to investigate. Maybe you'll find us an Ahkam in time."

Nekris nods and severs the connection. Folding his cloak around him he moves to the docked Coffin and descends with it and the Nails to the planet below as the Corvettes skips away to deliver it's new prizes.

The corvette is met by a coffin that takes the captives to Horizon's Drop while other coffins transport supplies and a crude simplified form of a Cauldron to the ship for its return to Nekris.

Refueled with some of the first gathered fuel from your new refinery the corvette spins up its engine and skips back to the other star system in a flash of light.

As Nekris waited for the ship to return he reviews the scouted areas for potential base locations. It was an atoll that he finally decided on, islands thick with trees surrounding a lagoon of shallow water and small islands within, perfect to hide their craft during the day from the prying eyes of any fishers or boats that may drift by though he doubted they had to worry about the locals discovering them before the forces of the Ahkam.

Cyclops and Gargoyles inspect the narrow jungles of the atoll, driving off a pack of the predatory amphibians by slaughtering a few that tried to attack with well-placed shots from their spine casters.

The corvette returns, landing on top of a sandbar as troops start the construction of an outpost.

>Discreet Outpost started: 100B 400M

As Nekris directs the construction of a bunker that would hide partially under the water and sand of the atoll he sends a coffin to discreetly survey the world, commanding it to avoid the populated areas going into orbit or even below water to avoid detection. They were not quite ready to deal with an Ahkam if the stories of their power was any indication.

Jadyk watches as Red-Leaf-Strains attempts to speak with her sisters along with several of the elder members of the herd and explain the nature of their world and the star system they lived in. Her sisters looked at each other worriedly but nodded to appease her.

She knew they didn't believe her but as the herd started to move on in the light of the morning sun a group of younger herd members, mostly calves and few juveniles follow at her sides. She smiles in their way, the bristles of her wiry mane lifting in pleasure, as they start to question her wanting to know more of her stories of the system. They follow and she tells them of what you showed her, the young Osogo listening with rapt attention.

You nod and clack your jaws. This was a good development. You turn your attention to the four strange crustaceans cowering in their cage at the sight of you on your hovering throne, a cluster of black domination spikes hovering above your palm. Clenching your fist suddenly the nails zip out, the fishers shouting in pain as the nails embed themselves and flood their system with pain.

Waiting for the new captives to recover from the pain of the domination spikes Jadyk looks across his forces, giving a quick glances over their progress. Agona and Nekris both hard at work on their outposts, Lorgul pacing impatiently as his Disciples duel on the moon.

There is a clicking sound as the first of the captives awaken and you turn your attention back to them. They slowly pick themselves up from the ground, helping one with an injured leg stand. They stare at you and you nod in return, your throne slamming down to the ground with a loud thud making them recoil.

"I hope your trip was comfortable. I know my generals and troops can be a little rowdy," you say as you stand to approach the cage. They recoil from the strange voice they could understand within their minds despite the foreign language.

One of them with a parka of woven fibers places themselves between you and the others, "W-who are you and where are we?" it asks in a series of clicks, a forked tongue flicking off chattering mandibles.

Placing a hand on the cage you lean in to look at the barely five foot aliens, their bodies hunched as if they had evolved from a formerly quadrupedal shape. You can feel their fear rushing through them but the leader still holds themselves in front of the others. You chuckle softly, "Don't worry, my friends. Answer my questions and you'll be safe. I am Jadyk or Lord Jadyk if you wish. You are on my world as my...guests. Will you cooperate?"

They glance at each other before the leader nods timidly, "What do you want to know?"

"Tell me of your people, your world and your culture. I am a connoisseur of knowledge and crave it," you say as your throne slides across the ground in time it to capture you as you sat down.

The creatures look to eachother once more, one shoving the leader who sighs before turning back to you, "We were fishers. Our people are called Ructu. Our world we call Rukor. Why would you want to know about us?"

"I noticed your people worship the Ahkam. Tell me about them," you change the subject.

"I do not worship the Ahkam. They are not our gods," the leader spits in distaste and you can feel fear spike in two of the others as they chastise him for speaking out against them. They turn to chatter rapidly at the others to chastise them right back and you snap your boney fingers, the spikes heating up in their bodies silencing them.

"You have a distaste for the Ahkam. Tell me why," you ask simply.

They bark at the others trying to stop him, the one who didn't seem to share their fear of speaking bad about the Ahkam stepping forward, "There are no gods. Ructu never needed gods. The Ahkam appeared, destroying our greatest city in a night of fire and lightning. They claimed the city was corrupt and they were there to free us of sin," they spit with bile in their throat.

The leader bobs their head in agrement, "They make us give offering and the weak to worship them. They eat more at once than a village does in a week. They took our warriors and we have not seen them in the years since they first arrived. We thought Rukor was the only place with life. That life could only come from Rukors waters but the Ahkam come from beyond the stars. They arrive in storms without warning to take and take. You are enemy of them yes? Your warriors fought the kryssers and saved us, are you going to save the Ructu?"

You could feel the hope well up in the pair of non-believers while the other two sit in bitter silence.

How do you reply to their question?
>>

"Yes, the Ahkam are my enemy, one of many. I have seen them attempt what they did to your people with others. They crave worship and to subjugation," you lean forward on your throne, hollow sockets looking into the stalk eyes of the creatures, "I can show you many things they would hide from you. Things your people would take many life times to discover on your own."

They hesitate at the offer and turn to speak with each other. A piece of rubble lifts off the ground across the stone room and drifts over to you. It hovers over your palm as your spear snakes from its resting place in your ribcage, multiple black tines darting and carving sigils of the Wormstars ancient language into the stone.

The Ructu fell silent as they watched, the stone wavering as it drifted across the distance to them, "Take my gift and I shall show you all the knowledge I have gained of your world and your star."

They look at each other as the stone floats between them, the two believers in the Ahkam trying to dissuade the other pair who reach out their hands and place them on the stone. The pair of faithful chitter between themselves before reaching out to touch the stone.

You lean back in the throne, guiding their minds and astral forms through the same ritual you'd brought Red-Leaf-Strains on. With any luck you may have just found a weapon to use against the Ahkam.

Hopefully these Ructu took more kindly to liberation than subjugation but in the end their decision hardly mattered.

>Jadyk showing the Ructu group the wonders of space and the star systems
>>
>>44014543
As you return from your time showing the Ructu Horizon's Drop, the star system and even their own world from space you are greeted by an excited message from the Think Tanks.

With their increased numbers they were able to do a rapid dissection on the pair of predators, the kryssers as the native had called them.

>Krysser Dissection Complete
The Kryssers were a pack hunting creature, capable of hunting on both land or sea. They breathed air, surfacing to breath in through the holes directly on top of their skulls and used a sophisticated airbladder system linked to their lungs to control their ballast while swimming. Their bodies were densely muscled, able to sprint with surprising speed and leaps on land while they were fast swimmer in the water. Eyeless they tracked prey with olfactory chemoreceptors and a crude form of echolocation similar to the recently unlocked sonar. Glowing spots within their maws are believed to be a lure used to capture simpler minded creatures for an easy meal.

>Unlocked Scent Tracking: By replacing the electroreceptors in your troops they can now track with a powerful sense of smell over long distances. Works effectively on land or even in the water. Replaces electroreceptors of a unit free of cost.

The Think Tank even suggests utilizing the body shape of the Kryssers to create reconstructed troops more easily suited to the ocean world though they do not wish to be presumptuous.

50 Aquatic Cyclops with smell

>>44014720
I'm fine with this >>44014793
>>
>>44014720
You task your Think Tanks with creating aquatic versions of the Cyclops and Talons and before long a group of them emerge from the Cauldrons. Their hands were webbed with flaps of skin with fins along their arms and legs. Feet wide and flat used as flippers to propel them through the water quickly. The Cyclops spine casters would work underwater similar to a speargun while the Talons weren't able to use their necroflensers, instead relying on sting whips instead. As an added measure the Talons are given sonar organs while the cyclops are given the new chemoreceptors, the fins alongside the large eye grown larger.

As you let the Ructu mill over the new information and argue among themselves you turn to a nearby Cauldron deep in your fortress. The rumbling of an Entropic Excavator shaking the room as you plunge your hands into the liquid. You were impressed with the simplicity of the amphibious killing machines and you craft bone and muscle into a vaguely similar shape. An hour later and the latest of your personal creations emerges from the Cauldron, uncoiling and tasting the air.

>Created new unit: Stalker
>Modeled after the amphibious Kryssers the Stalkers are rather simple in form. A main body dominated by a large mouth full of fangs and a sting whip tongue trails off into a large tail. Two powerful legs support the main body with the tail trailing behind to balance the large skull. With crude camouflage and powerful scent-tracking along with thermal and sonar imaging they are meant to be the bloodhounds of the Cauldron-born armies, able meant to stealthily infiltrate and track targets. They are amphibious, able to move from land to aquatic settings with ease. Cost: 4B 4M

Create New Unit:
Aquatic Catoblepas - they will be smaller size initially and float on the water surface, primary absorb water with small organics, swell up to several times their normal size, the slabs of teratoma-like clusters are to be shed off and float for collection, like to add Paralytic Venomglands to them for defense to spray around them into the water like squid ink

I like the idea though we should really see if we can keep the catoblepas from leaking everywhere so they don't spoil everything. We don't want to ruin the planets our soon-to-be worshipers have to live on
>>

Oh I know! Make big aquariums for the aquatic catoblepas mixed with the kelp tanks so they can eat in peace without having to travel.

>>44015151
They could fed on the kelp that's abundant on Horizon's Drop but like >>44015179 it will have an adverse effect on the ecosystem.

>Aquatic Catoblepas: Smaller than the normal Catoblepas these creatures mostly float on the surface of the water using their long necks to dive and rummage for plant-life below the waters surface. The teratomas they produce float on the surface to allow easy harvesting. As a defensive measure they have been given a paralytic venom gland in order to deter potential predators. Generates 25B if given enough access to food. Cost: 15B

Could we improve their photosynthesis capabilities and rely heavily less on the kelp even if it means slower resource generation?
or can we follow >>44015223
suggestion and do the inital design but also build some kelp vats that they can primary fed upon
>>
>>44015384
You could potentially build pens or a big factory to hold the catoblepas in a single place using vat grown kelp instead of letting them be free-range grazers with the tech you have currently if you'd like to prevent further damage to the ecosystem.

Unfortunately you can't turn them into a fully photosynthetic creature, that's what the solar collectors are for

Now a question since it seems the thread is hemorrhaging players

Do you wish to send your aquatic troops into Horizon's Drops oceans or Rukor's oceans?

Are people ok with the Stalker unit type or should I scrap it?
>>
>>44015626
It's fine, and let's put a few in both places, like 10 in each
>>
>>44015626
Should make the Stalkers carry a gun in their mouth in place of the stingwhip tongues, either shardspitters or a smaller dartgun version of the spine caster since those would work underwater
>>
>>44015775
Completely doable actually. I'll make sure to ask that next thread.

Welp, looks like time to call it, it's later than I thought. Hope folks had fun playing.
Again, very sorry for that delay, I hate being the responsible one of my friends lol

Thread is archived, please vote for it if you could. Hope to see you all next Thursday
