The grand halls of the Mausoleum echo with the voices of the Wormstar's Necrolytes and the chitin-forged Choir, singing the praises and hymns dedicated to the Dreadstar and it's generals.

Jadyk the Worm sits on his throne of chitin and bone, his lieutenants flanking the dais overlooking the throne-room. Reconstructed warriors of mighty power line the grand chamber armored in the bones of the vanquished.

They part silently as a giant walks forward shaking the hall with each step. Their armor was black as the void between stars, drinking in the feeble light cast by chandeliers of necrotic crystal. Brilliant ultraviolet flames that hurt the eyes of the Necrolytes that dared to look at them flared with each movement from between the gaps in their armor. Their helm was a massive crown of jagged bones taken from the enemies of the Black Flame, the skull of a long-extinct reptilian species ablaze with power.

Jadyk rises and gives a courteous bow to the larger undead, "You honor me with your presence, Brother Ghul. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Jadyk stands, folding the multitude of arms under his flowing cloak, mandibles clicking in curiosity.

The Voidlord returns the bow, his massive hands removing his crown and holding it at his side, "The Alliance grows bolder and more dangerous. The Netu have joined their fleets with them. Already Akka-Tor's and the Red Rot fleets have suffered losses," the spines lining Jadyk's skull bristle in alarm but Ghul continues, "My fleet departs to subjugate a newly discovered race and bring them into the Black Flame's grip. Hominids that attacked and managed to destroy a scouting team along with one of my lieutenants."

Jadyk's mandibles click as he mulls over the news then looks to the Voidlord, "I appreciate the news, Brother. I shall handle these insects myself. Glory to the Undying Court."

"Glory to the Undying Court," Ghul repeats and turns to leave with his guard.

Completed Research

>Caustic Weapon
This curious device is more living creature than unfeeling weapon. A spiraling shell with multiple chambers protects its gastropod host while allowing several individually harmless chemicals and fluids to mix and be fired with great force and distance. These fluids are produced by several organs and glands and once mixed ignite into a powerful burning liquid capable of melting metal and stone. This mixture burns for quite some time, reducing the effectiveness of armor or completely dissolving unarmored targets.

>Void Drive
A powerful FTL-Engine powered by the powdered bones of Osjiic Voidsingers and Deathswatch Guard the Void Drive creates a condensed bubble of space-time around a ship, allowing it to travel vast interstellar distances. While not as fast as the nearly immediate Skip Drive, the Void Drive is much more accurate, allowing the for more precise arrival in a system. Exiting FTL produces a flare of radiation and distorted light that is proportionate to a ships size, small craft and sub-capitols easily missed in the background radiation while capitol ships and larger appear in a miniature nova of energy.

Unlocked:
>Napalmthrower: A large weapon of spiraling bone and shell that replaces a units forearm and requiring a protective shell on their back to contain the organs that produce the volatile liquids it can fire either a thin stream of the purple liquid for further range or sprayed as a short-distance cone. Reduces the effectiveness of armor or outright dissolving unarmored targets. Cost: 3B

>Void Drive: Think Tanks can now create their own versions of the slow but accurate Void Drives using a reactor of dense Voidmatter.

Under a distant star Nekris stands on a harsh and toxic planet, watching as Reconstructed soldiers dig and excavate a derelict ship crashed years ago. It's crew, mostly humans, vorh and a large amount of kesh, are found dried out and mummified from when they crashed.

Their defenders, undead wrapped and sheathed in metal and powered by necrotic energies, seemed to "survive" the crash and attacked after the ship was disturbed. The silent guardians were swiftly defeated by Nekris and the Reconstructed, their metal and bone bodies stuffed into a Coffin as excavations were resumed.

Jor sits in his office down in the colony, listening to the complaints from the colonists and even a handful of both Osjiic and Dagger. To your approval he deals with the complains and grievances with grace, tweaking shifts and allowing certain privileges to appease them or down right threatening several with the pair of Stingers that stand guard over him constantly.

Jadyk sits on the stone throne as it drifts over the mountain ranges of the planet in silence. The skeletal cliffjumpers recycled and the hoverpad removed now that your power has become great enough. Despite your eons of imprisonment you know how useful solitude could be when deciding the next course of action.

What shall you do next?

Combine thermal blades, caustic weapon, a thinktank, and a miner construct. Super size it to make what I'm going to call Entropy diggers

The cut dig and melt through stone refining the metal as they go
They would be very expensive to make but each are like an off world mining facility in one hulking form
In time we can make them run off the acid the zombie cows make as an unwanted byproduct

>Speak to Generals

A Coffin meets Jadyk and the throne floating through the sky and transport them both to the moon where Lorgul and Agona toil with the creation of your fleet.

They meet you as the Coffin lands, both large undead bowing low as you drift from the craft to stand before them on the airless moon, "Hail, Lord Jadyk," they say in unison before standing.

"Greetings Revenant Lorgul and Punisher Agona. I would like you opinion on our progress and how we should proceed," you ask simply

Agona towers over both Lorgul and Jadyk, arms folded with her shield melding to her back like a thick shell. She glances with eyeless gaze to Lorgul then back to you, "The fleet is well underway. Armed and shielded and ready for skirmishes at least. The fleet, -I- hunger for battle. I was created for war from a great warrior but I am here on this rock building," she laments

Lorgul nods in agreement, "I have to agree with her. Our reserves swell and our soldiers languish. The ships drift, waiting your commands. Point us to an enemy and they shall either perish or serve you but we will obey your orders."

Punisher Agona points to the Dagger Clanship moored to the moon, "Our fleet needs Capitol ships. Your Think Tanks gossip about their creation but await your order. Who knows how long until the other Dagger or Osjiic fleets realize their comrades are missing."

You clack your jaw silently as you mull over their words.

>Anything specific you wanted to ask them?

Unfortunately the Solar Collectors would be constantly damaged by the radiation storms and winds of the scorched planet. They can be placed on the polar regions of Horizon's Drop though

Sorry for delay
>>

Put solar collectors on the polar regions then.

Our commanders are right! Fire up the think tanks on the capitol ship - scout the nearest 5 systems with fighters and Void Drives.

Send an expeditionary colonization force to Nekris' system and begin operations there.

Let's see what's out there!

Oh my god I've got an idea!

We make a small ship with both void drive and a modded skip drive

When attacking a larg amoun of space things this ship can come in on void drive sneaky and persice. Then once in the right spot it's activities the modded skip drive (now rip drive) that credits a larg area of effectet and takes itself and all the surrounding sips to and unsafe gravity well where all is destroyed

They may be one time use but we could take out entire armadas with one

Seems to be some desire for exploring the other systems in search of combat. Do you want to send any of your sub-capitols or create Eyegore drones to scout out the nearby systems?
>Y/N?

Support for sending outpost/colonies to the system Nekris is in? Can start mining the protoplanet or the two moons or establish a base on the moon the Stonestars were found. There is still the remaining planet to be investigated but Nekris is close to finishing his dig.

A crude Cauldron at its belly it separates the metal from stone and processes it into easy to transport ingots. It can also be used for large scale excavation and digging to create bunkers and subterranean structures. Can mine 150M Daily if given access to rich veins of ore. Cost: 50B 160M

You speak briefly with the Think Tanks and soon they are a frenzy, trading theories and formulas. The Dagger and Osjiic engineers are roused from their sleep or redirected from other tasks to focus on designing and explaining the structuring of capitol ships.

Agona and Lorgul salute as they depart to prepare for their tasks.

Punisher Agona volunteering to establish an outpost on the stonestars volcanic moon to investigate the strange moon along with its inhabitants and keep watch for any potential Ahkam influence. She departs with a light Cruiser flanked by a a pair of corvettes and frigates each with a guard of coffins and nails to protect them. There are several flashes of light and they appear in orbit around the supermassive gas giant. A corvette and frigate fire their engines and head for the asteroid belt to begin construction of the mining outpost.

>Mining Outpost under construction: Cost 500B 800M

The Voidknight moves to assist his Disciples in the infusion of void energies into the sheets of brittle bone that your fleets would use for their Void Drives.

Cauldrons on the moon churn out the pieces of the first Eyegore scoutcraft and are quickly assembled by Talons and Stingers. The Eyegores were slightly larger than the Nail fighters to hold their engines and remote satellites. Cigar shaped they had a large protective shield of bone that peels back to reveal a thick lens of glass protecting the multitude of large twitching eyeballs and sensory organs, a massive single eye dominating the center mass. Their hulls treated to deny their thermal signature they lift into the air and gaze through the system in curious wonder, their simple minds eager to learn.

An excited Think Tank contacts you and presents the plans for a massive scale excavating and mining unit. You give it a look over and nod in satisfaction. The Think Tank is giddy with joy at your acceptance and you order the construction begun on several. Your Generals were right. It was time to reach out further and these would help fuel your war machine.

>Begun construction of Entropic Excavators x5 Cost: 250B 800M

Another Think Tank relays a message from Nekris' corvette as you step onto your personal Coffin. A wall illuminates to display the bridge of the corvette with Nekris kneeling, "Ah, Nekris, how goes your trip?" you ask cheerfully.

Nekris stands and holds up the metal skull of a human cyborg, "Eventful still. Discovered something interesting."

Images flash by of the dug out wreck. A frigate that held a small crew but many of the undead cyborgs it appeared to have been shot down long ago. Patches on the armor and clothing of the once living crew show a symbol of nine multicolored stars arranged in a circle with words proclaiming it a ship of the Confederacy Navy. Your knowledge gained from your interrogations show that it was an older version of their current flag that held eleven stars on a field of black.

"Very interesting indeed. I'll send for the remains and wreckage. Well done Nekris," you congratulate him as he bows.

"Hail the Conquering Worm," he says in his quiet voice before the screen goes blank.

Punish Agona stands on the bridge of the Light Cruiser she claimed for herself and armed herself. The craft is flanked by its guard and floats above the thick clouds flashing with lightning covering the moon. The Stonestar native huddles inside its armor in the corner of the bridge, sent along to assist Agona in her task but the creature was absolutely petrified by the armored juggernaut.

She nods and the cyclopean pilots grafted into the ships descend towards the large storms, their shields becoming visible as a shimmer blue shell around the ships as they enter the atmosphere. Lightning flashes ominously in the giant storm but Agona feels no fear. She was crafted better than that.

The three sub-capitols descend with their coffin and nail escorts firmly secured to their hulls, passing through the storm. Static builds against the shields, the corvettes flickering a few times to the alarm of the Think Tank on board.

There is a flash then a crash of thunder as a bolt strikes against the cruisers, making it falter for several seconds before it reappears. Another bolt strikes the frigate and fries a projector of the shield, leaving it exposed.

Yet another bolt strikes the cruiser and the shield projectors start to overheat but just as Agona felt the faintest flicker of concern they punch through the clouds, a bolt reaching out to strike the shield of the cruiser just as it reappeared to the annoyance of the Think Tank controlling the systems of the ship.

The planet appears largely unchanged from Nekris' visit and the ships fly low enough to avoid the worst of the storm but high enough to ignore the jets of geysers erupting below.

Coffins and Nails split and spread out to begin their search. After sometime searching they zero in on the same mesa that Nekris' Coffins had landed to make repairs. With no volcanic activity beyond a few steaming vents and relatively level ground the ships are able to set down.

Your Punisher steps out onto the rocky surface of the moon and gazes around eyeless. Already the soldiers and a pair of diggers she'd brought with start digging the foundations of a bunker for the outpost.

Cyclopes scamper and bound, their armored skin becoming black and rough to match the volcanic rock as they search and investigate the caves and crevasses. Thankfully there appeared to be no Stonestar activity from a cursory investigation but Agona's troops are quick to throw up walls of metal and watch towers for roosting Gargoyles and patient Cyclopes snipers.

There is a knot of light and a short burst of radiation that is quickly swallowed up by roiling waves of energy bleeding from the churning blue ball of radioactive fire as the Eyegore appears at the edges of the system.

It's eyelid of bone slides back and it releases its remote satellites like fleas from a hound. The highly active star pulses and burns angrily, solar flares of incredible size easily visible even from this distance arcing from the surface. Space around it is full of radiation and the Eyegore already feels...nauseous if you had to put a word to its discomfort.

The satellites were specially shielded against radiation but even still the star made data static-filled and hazy, the devices using thrusters that took up much of their bulk to propel them through space. It takes several hours but eventually the results come back.

There was a single planet in the system, a relatively small world but as your Eyegore turns its main eyes to peer at it along with a nearby satellite it detects motion in its orbit. At first you believe an asteroid or comet but to your surprise you watch as it adjusts course to leave orbit before it appears to stretch and elongate ridiculously far into the distance before disappearing.

A closer examination of the planet as the Eyegore approaches slowly to appear as nothing more than space debris reveals, to your astonishment, a world covered in dense plantlife washed blue in the light of the star. Your Eyegore watches from a distance for anymore spacecraft but cannot detect anything else. Without getting closer your Eyegore can't make out much more detail because of the heavy radiation.

The Eyegore creeps forward cautiously, the simple mind whining about the radiation but you sooth it and thank it for its help. It calms down and focuses on its task. The large eyes twitch and shift behind the glass as they soak in the sight of the planet.

The planet was covered in a thick atmosphere, no doubt because of the dense foliage your Eyegore spies. The small planet was covered from horizon to horizon in what appeared to be massive roots and trees the thickness of sub-capitols, a canopy of blue-green leaves obscuring most of the world.

There was one patch the Eyegore notices where the canopy was absent. Zooming in it spies a flat plateau of shaped trunks. There appeared to be buildings or at least hollowed out sections of the roots and a large "flower" of rippling wood and plants aimed at the pulsing star. A peculiar ship of twisting bark and wood sits with it's "roots" entangled with the landing platform.

You'd never seen anything quite like this. Whatever had made this planet their home seemed to manipulate plant-life on a scale you'd never witnessed in all your eons.

We NEED to make an alliance with whoever made this. We shape the animal kingdom and they the plant. Together we will rock this ride

The Eyegore slipped into the system and waited before deploying it's satellites to make sure it hadn't been noticed. The remote drones speed through the system as they deploy themselves to look like space-junk. The Eyegore spends it's time watching the system and absorbing its surroundings.

Like your interrogations had revealed there were two planets, a gas giant with a decent sized moon hosting an Osjiic fuel refinery that appeared to be mostly automated with a hangar most likely concealing fighters and gas-sucking drones.

A large broad asteroid belt is full of automated mining drones, a large asteroid hollowed out and filled with what appeared to be a massive refinery for processing the bounty of the asteroids.

Further in was a warm planet with a dense atmosphere and heavy gravity. It appeared to be mostly desert and rocky bluffs with polar oceans under the ice-caps running off in large rivers of melt water. Osjiic ships land and depart with a small picket force orbiting the planet. Buildings and landing platforms are arranged sparsely around the planet with three main hubs of activity surrounding landing pads for ships. Your Eyegore picks up transmissions from the roaming ships and learns it was a world mostly used to manufacture the Empires land-based warmachines including cruiser sized tanks and artillery the size of frigates.

Thread is archived, please vote for it if you can. I hope to see everyone on Saturday at the normal time.

I'll be around for a bit like normal to answer any questions.

>Whatever had made this planet their home seemed to manipulate plant-life on a scale you'd never witnessed in all your eons.

KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THE KELP
