Your time at the Academy has proven to be quite an adventure so far, even if all of the adventuring has been this mysterious thing known as LEARNING, with a bit of fighting thrown in along the way to help with that process. During the time you spent with Renari in the library, you learned quite a bit about the man known as Revan, the woman Meetra Surik, and even a bit about the known history of the Sith... the religion, not so much the red people. Turns out they're kinda secretive and don't enjoy talking with Jedi too much, who woulda guessed.

Still, the information you read about regarding the more inner workings of the empire is quite interesting. The names are different, but it seems as though the Jedi and Sith have a very similar heirarchy when it comes to their members, Padawan to Apprentice, Knight to Lord, Master to Darth, and Council to Council. You haven't exactly been able to find any information on an equivalent to Grand Master Shan, but it does sort of stand to reason that the Emperor himself could fill such a role.

Turns out learning can actually be pretty fun, not that you would have ever gotten the chance to know as much while you were on Nar Shadda of course, though both Renari and Master Tikran have been rather insistent on you shoring up your admittedly rather faulty, and mostly self taught, education. Advanced mathematics is still a slight... issue, but you've taken to reading and most other things like a fish to water!

A gray Jedi could simply view the force in a purely utilitarian way.
The Sith often see the force as something which must be broken to the users will through exultation of the self.
The Jedi often see the force as something which can be channeled through the user through release of the self.

i think you've misunderstood their difference, it's not a difference in usage of the force but philosophy, Jedi are collectivist they have a sense of self-sacrifice and see the best for their group, The Sith are powerful individualists they only see their interest and how to promote them by usage of the Force.
Ultimately as a carrot stick both side decided to say their philosophy was "THE WAY TO USE THE FORCE".
A grey Jedi cannot be defined by his interpretation of the use of the Force because ultimately it's not what define Siths and Jedis. They're both utilitarians but they have different target to maximize utility.

You've spent a good bit of your time following the advice of Master Tikran, spending quite a bit of time studying up on the history of the Republic, mathematics, reading, writing, all that good stuff. It turns out that a fair bit of the Jedi curriculum also covers things such as military tactics and command. Pretty useful stuff to know since you've heard that most Jedi actively participating in the war against the Empire are given officer positions in the Republic's military... never really thought of yourself as a military man, but hey, weirder things have happened, like becoming a Jedi!

It takes a bit of time, but you're sure enough able to catch up to pretty much where you're supposed to be with regards to your education from a Jedi standpoint, there are still a few things that you need to work on a bit more. Not to say you've been neglecting your other training of course, your tutoring of the lightsaber under Master Tikran and at times Master Vesu continues on just as well.

It's after a day of studying in the library together that you and Renari are talking a relaxing little walk along the lake that the two of you had your first real interaction. While not an entirely common action for the two of you, it's something that happens every now and then when the time feels right. Not everything has to be about something lewd or exciting after all, it's good to kick back and relax at times.

"Zev, you've been reading up on the Sith, along with people like Revan, right?" She asks as the two of you are taking a short break at the lakeside.

"Yeah, it's pretty interesting reading about Revan and the others. Learning about how the Sith and the Jedi are two sides of the same credit chip is pretty amusing as well." You reply. "Why ask?"

I figured it could be your ace pazzak card if you ever need one."

Looking back to previous thread, I get the feeling that Zev really isn't Sith material.

At least the way he uses Force and dirty tricks in fight is not exactly using his strong emotions to mobilize his strength, it's to distract the opponent and make him slip up. He's like a permanent test of Jedi serenity while keeping cool himself. He doesn't need Force to break his chains because he's already pretty liberated.

With one exception of being a horndog. I kinda see this becoming his weakness - while usually his HYPER VIBROBLADE might make ladies melt with pleasure and desire, should he come across one that can resist his advances or at least keep her head while succumbing to them, he can end up with a very nasty surprise and I don't necessarily mean space syphilis.

Well then let's look at everything ever in the movies.

Everything a blaster strikes is either damaged, scorched, or destroyed, it scratches, burns or explodes everything, if it can't damage it, the energy still burns off anything on the surface leaving the black ash looking scorches.

You'll note that Vader's glove is -entirely- undamaged and unblemished. If he were just blocking it, it would not explode into sparks on a flexible material like that, it would have to be diffused or absorbed by the material. Or let's say it's a cortosis weave fabric, it would still leave a scorch pattern as the dust and other particles are incinerated that are caught where the blast strikes as they are not "immune" to energy like that.

There is no sign that he was blasted at all, which is impossible because that is just not how physics works. So since there is no explanation for that, it is reasonable to determine that he used the Force to assist him, also indicated that the only places he was being shot at were his hands, instead of somewhere vulnerable, like his head, and the fact that he immediately uses the Force to pull the blaster even though he is being shot.

Don't tell me Solo wouldn't aim for a killshot right away, and he had time to aim since Vader didn't take the gun immediately upon Solo drawing.
