No longer bound to a single world you reach your grasp out to new stars. Your newly crafted general Predator Nekris commands the first of your FTL-powered ships, exploring a nearby star.

Think Tanks pulse with increased power and knowledge, the Cauldron-born soldiers moving with a grace and cohesion they had lacked before. The wrecks of the former Osjiic and Dagger fleets are converted with increasing speed and efficiency, the first group of Corvettes and Frigates lifting off the surface of the moon as their shields glimmer into being.

Your living enslaved work and toil on Horizon's Drop, former warriors reduced to farmers, ranchers, miners and hunters to fuel your conquest. Loyal subjects are already emerging among their ranks. Jor, the very first being you subjugated upon your release, was a valuable asset at keeping the populace motivated and in order. The nameless Voidsinger, who's heart of ultraviolet flames consumes him a little more each day, has come to see you as a worthy leader and commander after growing discontent with the Osjiic Empires rule.

Even among the the original colonists your power has impressed and awed a number of the population. Despite the drastic change in leadership their life has remained mostly unchanged if a little busier than before. The Osjiic and Dagger were being slightly more resistant to your charms, the metal spikes weighing heavy in their bodies with their loss still fresh.

It is time for you to make your claim on this universe.

You are Jadyk the Conquering Worm and the Galaxy will fear, may even worship you in time.

Completed Research:
>Stonestar Dissection: The strange creatures you've dubbed the Stonestars, they have no true name for themselves, referring only to their clan names and titles, are strange creatures. Five-limbs arranged radially around a central body, the stonestars brains are partially distributed throughout the limbs with the main hub of the body devoted to its digestive system and other internal organs. Their bodies are mildy caustic naturally and they appear to use that to create armor and camouflage for themselves out of volcanic rocks. The corpses you studied show signs of vivisections and surgery scars, several of their limbs containing long obsidian carved blades, a trio of stingers much like your Sting Whip, and at least one of them had a large acid gland at the base of one limb.

>Beached corpse dissection: This strange marine creature is quite large, stretching nearly 30meters from tentacle to flat tail. It's hide is made up of dense hide and blubber, its body showing many scars both old and new. It's underbelly was a mass of undulating flippers it used to move in nearly any direction in the water while its tail was used for speed and travel. It's face contains a mass of tentacles and cilia covered tendrils surrounding a circular maw filled with grinding teeth. With no eyes to speak of it appeared to communicate and visualize its surroundings with electroreceptors and an organ that could produce and receive sonar signals. It's tendrils would snatch small fish or eels to eat or draw in large amounts of the fast-growing kelp.

>Ship Fuel Harvesting/Refining: By repairing and studying the two smaller refueling and processing stations on the gas giants moons your Think Tanks can now create refueling plants with their own harvesting drones to collect the gases from gas giants used to fuel FTL engines.
>>
>>43934228
Gained:
>Cluster Sting Whip: Similar to your original Sting Whips, the cluster version has three smaller and weaker strength barbs. Instead of a grappling or disarming weapon the barbs of the cluster sting whip are hollow can deliver a toxic payload from the venom or acid gland at the root of the organ. Cost: The venom or acid glands cost

>Sonar: By adding a special organ to a units neck and chest cavity they can now emit and detect sonar signals that are out of the range of hearing of many races. Allows vision in aquatic areas but useless in a vacuum. Cost: 2B

Your new Stonestar captive complains of the dry and cold air compared to their humid planet but they follow you around your original Mining base carefully. It's large eyes examine the alien world, the first of its kind that it knew of to leave their world and travel to a new one.

Lorgul and Agona work tirelessly, organizing troops and inspecting the installations of weapon mounts thoroughly. They were eager to tend to your warmachine and even more eager to test out their might against a worthy foe.

Nekris sits in his chair of bone and muscle as his corvette drifts through the distant system once his ships rejoined. There were still two more world for him to explore in the light of a foreign star.

I still have the original attempted thread open and yeah, outposts were the winner it seemed:

Create Outposts: Fuel and Research Outposts
You already have two small fueling outposts and are quite sufficient for your upcoming fleet, but you can create a new one in the ruins of the destroyed one in preparation for higher demand. Cost: 200B 150M
1)Create Fuel Outpost
>Y/N?

There is currently a single Think Tank studying the strange crystalline tech and an outpost of research equipment and additional Think Tanks would increase the ease and speed of research. Can then be used to house potentially dangerous research subjects. Cost: 200B 500M
2) Create Research Outpost?

I say 100 Talons (split 50-50 between Necroflensers and Sting whips), 10 cyclops, 25 Stingers, and 26 trolls. Maybe another batch of Think Tanks too, 18 to 'em up to 75.

Cauldrons churn on the surface of the moon, Horizon's Drop and the scorched planet, spitting up a new force of soldiers along with the first parts of the planned outposts being loaded onto newly crafted sub-capitols. Your new ships split up with guards of Nails and Coffins full of troops off to start construction of the outposts. With the gas giant being harvested for fuel with soon to be three plants you are confident your fleet will be well fueled for you eventual conquests. The radiation scorched planet was an ideal place for a research installation, dangerous technology or captives secluded from vital infrastructure where the Think Tanks could word unimpeded.

Predator Nekris stands on the bridge of his corvette, looking at the screen of shifting colors and heat displaying the system. Chitin claws tap idly on the hilt of one of his blades, the only sound on the bridge besides the hum and sloshing of the Think Tank pilot.

He'd explored the large asteroid belt the remains of an attempted planet along with a former protoplanet core heavy in metal ore and ripe for the harvesting. The supermassive gas giant, almost an aborted star itself, held many moons with one much larger than the others, possibly a rogue planet. There he discovered the bizarre and warlike Stonestars and their tales of the Ahkam visiting them in the search for worshipers. The moon still held many mysteries but now he turns his gaze elsewhere.

Two more planets remained unexplored in the light of the yellow star. One on each side of the asteroid belt with the larger of the two further out in the system.

The corvette enters orbit around the planet as the coffins detach and head for the planet as the nails drift around the corvette defensively.

The planet had a sparse atmosphere giving it a gray haze and sparse clouds. Dry and mostly barren it held a few short mountain ranges and shallow seas high in chlorine. The air was full of methane, small jets of flame flickering in the crags of some of the short mountains. Even it's metal content seemed sparse, the planet lacking the heavy metal core that most had.

Nekris was ready to turn away from the planet when a Coffin flies over a ridge and spots a furrow carved into the brown earth. Following it they quickly discover the back end of a crashed ship, the exposed metal corroded and old.

Reconstructed troops drop down from the coffins and start to clear away the dirt and stone. Nearly hidden under the ground was the remains of a frigate sized ship, the age uncertain but the faded scorch marks suggest it had been quite some time since it had made its fateful landing.

Can... Can we do that? We would want a think tank there to support, but the idea of an auto cauldron...
It can't research at all and only makes one thing, but can make it fast and automatically as long as it has the bio and metal to do so.

Set one up on each lifeless chunk of rock with few soler cells to make bio mass, a thinktank and a few miners to get the ball rolling and we are looking as a quadratic growth of mining production

Nekris himself steps from the airlock of the corvette as it drifts to the planet below, the reconstructed hunter plummeting until slowing down just before stepping lightly to the ground with a small billow of dust brushing up around him. The Trolls were busy tugging away a large boulder when he approached and with a creak of their joints they pull it free and it tumbles away, revealing a large hole in the side of the craft.

Leaning in the Predator runs a hand along the frayed edge of the hole blatantly made from a missile impact. A Gargoyle slithers into the hole as Talons and Stingers prepare to breach the darkness. The Gargoyle hops through the shattered hallway, large eye peering into a room then moving away before there was a shifting of dust then a rushing sound. The Gargoyle twists just in time to see the flash of an ancient blaster illuminate the rusted form of a human's skeleton clad in corroded armor. Another shot and the gargoyles mind blinks out.

Talons hiss around Nekris as the dirt around them rumbles, the shapes of humanoids rising up from the brown earth. Lifting old weaponry they open fire, some of the blasters unresponsive or even blowing up in the grasp of the rusted humanoid skeletons.

Ambushed...again!

Several Talons and Stingers go down under the first salvo of crude slug-throwers and old barely functioning blasters. Nekris was already in the air, his cloak billowing as all four of his limbs draw thermal blades with their edges glowing and crackling with necrotic energy. The Reconstructed troops haul up their shields and cluster protectively while returning fire against the odd enemy.

Predator Nekris lands with the points of all four blades piercing the skulls and torsos of two of the attackers, dragging them to the ground. Several of the automatons turn to aim their weapons at him but he was already moving between them, a blur as his blades sing through the air and cut through the rusted metal and dried bone underneath.

A pair of trolls leap through the air with their jetpacks, one blasting away with their flayer as the other lands on top an old cyborg, crushing it under a heavily void-weighted mace. The flayer is knocked from the hands of the other troll and it retaliated by charging its attacker and using it's powerful jaws to bite down on the rusted skull and with a vicious shaking of its head rips it apart before launching at another swinging its axe into its torso.

Several of the cyborgs stagger on uncertain legs from the hole in the derelict, firing their weapons. Stingers and Talons focus their fire, groups firing together at a single target before switching to another after it goes down.

The reconstructed General moves like a dervish of maiming blades through the cluster of robotic undead, removing heads or limbs. Using a large cyborg impaled on a pair of blades to shield himself from a salvo of fire his spear snaps out from one of his free hands, piercing through the corroded skull. The weapon retracts, moving like a snake as the Predator hunts and kills.

No more emerged from the broken hull and your troops breath easy. Or would if they were even capable of such a thing.

Victory!
>Lost 14 Talons

>Lost 1 Troll
>Gained Cyborg Remains

Nekris stoops to examine several of the dismantled and destroyed cyborgs, turning pieces over with the point of his spear as Talons and Stingers flood into the ship as the rest resume their excavation.

They were a mix of human, vorh, kesh, and even several unknown skeletons. Skeletons armored and enhanced with cybernetics and metal sheathing their bones. What intrigued Nekris the most was what he assumed to be their power cores. A metal sphere that pulses weakly with necrotic energy. Ripping one from the shattered torso of a vorh cyborg he drains the energy and confirms it for certain.

Whatever these creations were, they were run on necrotic energy to turn the dead into soldiers.

Chuckling softly you turn your mind to other matters. You can feel the Osogo Plainsrunner Red-Leaf-Strains concentrating on the sigil carved stoned you'd gifted her.

Your ethereal image waver before her, the female standing alone from the herd as they lay down for rest under their tents of woven grass. Fingers run over the carved runes as she mumbles to herself, not realizing you've finally turned your attention to her once more.

"Tell me what is on your mind, child," your voice whispers out, alien but known to the Osogo.

Red-Leaf-Strains bucks and bleats in surprise, eyes rolling nearly in panic and dropping the sphere where it stops, hovering several feet above the ground. She looks ready to bolt but calms herself at your ghostly image standing before her. Cautiously she grasps the sphere and looks towards the sleeping herd, the sentry unaware of her fright.

Looking back at the human skeleton floatin before her like a morning mist she bobs her large head, "What are you?"

"I am Jadyk. You are Red-Leaf-Strains, matriarch sister of your herd. What bothers you, child?" You stand before her with hands clasped behind your back, body bare of armor or weapon.

Running her hands across the sphere she mulls over her thoughts, "Our people have tales of visitors from the stars and beyond. They left, before my mothers mothers mother. Tales of their battles and horrors they created," she tenses as her suspicion grows, "Are you violent?"

"I can be. I do not wish to destroy you, your people or your world, though. I am Jadyk of the Wormstar. I can show you much. Much knowledge and many tales," you reach out a skeletal hand towards her and she recoils slightly, "I can show you many things but I only need your trust, just for a moment."

Your image wavers in front of her as she debates the offer. You could feel suspicion and fear wafting off her as she glances once more to her kin. But there was a sheen of curiosity that burns bright in her. Images of her as a young plainsrunner slipping away to climb a mountain to stare for hours at the stars and moon.

She reaches out a hand to take yours and to her alarm she can feel the bone of your grasp as your take her hand.

Your grasp holds her hand tight, not letting her pull away and you feel her fear grow, "Be not afraid. I shall not harm you or allow you to be harmed this night," you say softly.

The ground is left behind and she nearly panics as both of you lift from the earth, her herd shrinking in the distance. Her legs flail and she feels nothing around her but a squeeze from your hand and she slowly calms as you both float several hundred meters high in the light of the moon, "What, what are you doing?"

"Showing you more than you could ever see on your own," your voice whispers in her mind as the world spins underneath, racing across the plains towards the mountains. You pass over a herd of your own catoblepas chewing through a thicket of shrubbery with Talons harvesting their dripping tumors.

Her eyes are wide as the landscape rushes past you, sailing over mountains and along rivers, "This is your world. They call it Horizon's Drop. Your people call it Home. It has become my home as well," you speak to her as your mining base passes under you then the colony with it's new population of Osjiic and Dagger.

A blink later and you're traveling along the beaches thick with washed up kelp and grazing shieldshells. She points in surprise at a herd of coastal Osogo striding in the shallows with nets of kelp trying to collect the glowing squid that crawled to the shores at night to lay their eggs in the sand.

"This is your world. Your plains and stories would be all that you knew," the planet spins underneath, the sun rising rapidly in the distance as you move across the world. Her eyes were wide with amazement as she drinks in the sights of the swamps below teeming with life then the pale cold tundras and ice caps.

yea-i was in the first ghoul thread and only missed like 3-4 of them so i was deeply attached to it, jyoti knows all too well how involved i was-almost annoyingly so

i might read into the last threads to see if i like it...
i see he also changed his scheduling? or is this a rare situation? is it normally thurs still or did i not get the memo?also where is my hello jyoti(and no i will not refer to you as "graveqm"

She turns to look at you as your flight halts, "Jadyk-Wormstar. Show me more," she says with hesitation. Nodding you point to the sphere in her hand. She looks down and it is a perfect replica of the world cradled in her grasp. It takes her several moments but she blinks her four eyes and looks at you in surprise, "This is Home?"

You nod and motion to your surroundings. The pair of you lift up from the world, racing through the air and through clouds until blue skies turn black and the stars emerge. A soft gasp escapes her as she is awestruck by the stars and the blazing red sun. Looking down to where the planet shrinks and falls away, her fear flares once more but you place a comforting, if chill, hand on her arm.

You pass the moon, giving her a view of the shipyards churning out sub-capitols and the Dagger Clanship resting on the surface. She steps along the pale dirt, scratching at it with her foot before you depart once more.

Sailing through space faster than your coffins or ships could manage you head for the sun, the Osogo shifting uneasily but quickly spotting the scorched planet with its radioactive winds. She is silent as she is given a tour of the blasted surface, hearing the wind tearing at the planet.

The gas giant is next, showing her the colossal planet of swirling storms and the moons that surround it. She drinks it all in, eyes wide as her fear disappears to be replaced with a yearning for more.

Floating in the midst of space she looks at the stars and infinitely distant galaxies, "My sisters must have given me more of the dreamroot," she says with amusement.

Clacking your jaw you look to her, "Red-Leaf-Strains. Your people are capable of so much but your kind are stuck on your world. Home is a wonderful planet, a wonderful home for your people yet you know there is more out there. I can share the wonders of the universe with you and your kind," you hold up a skeletal finger, "But in time. For now, wake up."

She jerks in surprise as she finds herself standing where she had been the entire night, the sun starting to crest over the horizon. The sphere in her hand still looked like the planet she stood on but as she ran a palm over the surface it shimmers and becomes a rune carved stone once more. She snorts a small laugh then yawns, finding herself suddenly exhausted. The day was just beginning and there was much to think about.

Leaning back in your throne makes the Stonestar jerk in surprise at your sudden movement. You realize you'd been sitting motionless for hours as you shared the wonders of the solar system with the Osogo. Clacking your jaw you mull over your actions, hoping it would inspire the primitive mind to hunger for more.

Yeah Thursday and Saturday are still my normal days but this last week and weekend were insane so doing a rare Tuesday run to make up for it. Hope you end up enjoying this quest. I'm not sure when I'll return to Ghoul Quest but I'm not giving up on it either.

Trying to kill me with math lol
Diggers don't require Biomass to create so it would be simple enough to set up a Think Tank to run an automatic metal processing operation

Currently there are three potential locations you could start that with in the system that Nekris is in.

>Metal rich asteroid
>Two Gas Giant moons

With how much we have and how little we spend, we should spend a solid 1/4 of our stuff on passive resources generation things

Them we pump out a super fleet and fuck shit up
>>
>>43939820
Let's build a bunch of kelp vats
>>
>>43939874
Kelp vats don't bring in any biomass though, they just boost the zombie cows' yields, and we've already got a very efficient ratio of vats to cows going on.

If you want to bring in more biomass, we could always build some solar energy converters.

>Y/N?

And I'm sorry to do this but it's mostly to save myself the trouble because I'm a lazy fucker but you won't be able to create a self-growing metal or biomass mining operation. You'll have to decide on making the units yourself.

I supposed I could write up a new type of weapon mount for ships.

>Harvester Beam: Similar to the Necrotic Flayer this weapon fires a powerful thermal beam that shatters stone and melts metal ores then using Void energy to draw the molten ore into containment vats. Beams can be used without the thermal energy in order to harvest gas from gas giants or even take soil and liquid samples on a planet. Replaces two weapon mounts and cannot be used in combat.

lol no no. Just a beam that melts metals and eats away at asteroids.

>>
>>43940573
How much metal can we bring in with a ship equipped with harvester beams? Would the effect stack depending on if we put multiple arrays of harvesters on a ship? And how much more efficient at strip mining asteroids are they compared to a bunch of diggers? We could use some numbers here man.

>Harvester Ship: Cost 15B 40M
1 Harvester Beam
1 Repeater Cannon Auxilliary
A modified Coffin ship Harvesters are equipped with only a single Repeater Cannon for defense and a Harvester Beam with a large storage area for collected material. Can collect 60M Daily if given a metal rich target like an asteroid field or metal rich moon/planet
>>
>>43940630
Diggers can hollow out an asteroid or do mining work on a planet. Also used for excavations.

Harvester beams reduce everything it hits to slag and slurps up the metal.

Diggers hollow things out, Harvesters pulverize things
>>
>>43940749

Due to Jadyk's sudden obsession with kelp (Fuckin Ya!) and with building so manny so close to each other a random encounter has begun!

You are Jor. You walk among the rows of kelp vats, wondering why they where all built on land and not in the shallow waters of the coast.
You are pulled from your ponderings by a wooden plank smashing in to your face.

When you come to you find that you are on a chare made of kelp and are tied to It by even more kelp.

Without warning a strange kelp covered creature jumps in front of you. (Pic related)

Greg: Hi there.
Jor: Who're you?
Old Greg: I'm Old Greg.
Jor: What d'you want?
Old Greg: Maybe i should ask you the same question, whatcha doin in my waters?
Jor: Just... takin the air, you know, not harvesting kelp.
Old Greg: Well then how come this nets's on my head, fool?
Jor: It's nothing to do with me, sir.
Old Greg: It's attatched to your rod, motherlicker!
Jor: Don't kill me. I've got so much to give.
Old Greg: Easy now, fuzzy little manpeach.
Jor: Hmm?
Old Greg: Wanna come to a club where people wee on each other?
Howard: No?
Old Greg: I'm gonna hurt you.
Jor: 'Scuse me?
Old Greg: I like you. What do you think of me?
Jor: I don't rightly know, sir.
Old Greg: Make an assessment.
Jor: I think you're a nice, modern gentleman, and a bit like my boss.
Old Greg: Don't lie to me, boy.
Jor: I'm not lying...
Old Greg: I know what you're thinkin. Here comes Old Greg, he's a scaly manfish. You don't know me. You don't know what I got. I got somethin to show ya.

Old Greg: Do ya like Bailey's? Mmm, creamy, salty cream and beige.
Jor: Ahh, delicious.
Old Greg: Do ya like Old Greg's place? I got all things that are good.
Jor: Is this the way? Out? Umm... i better be, um, scootin.
Old Greg: Hmm?
Jor: Got meetings. And a friend of mine's waitin, so i should be...
Old Greg: Where ya goin? We got everythin we need.

Old Greg: I do watercolors.
Jor: Do you?
Old Greg: Let me show ya something.
>Grabs paper
Old Greg: I call that one Old Greg. And that one, I call that one Old Greg. And this one, do you know what i call that one?
Jor: Old Greg?
Old Greg: Yes sir.
Howard: Mm, that is quite a portfolio you've got going on there, but i really should be heading off. So, it's been good.
Old Greg: We could do some watercolors together. You and I.
Jor: Well that sounds like great fun, let's do it in a week then, Greg.
Old Greg: What d'ya mean?
Howard: Well, ya free thursday at all?
Old Greg: Why can't we do it now?
Jor: Well you know, I'm a busy man, Greg. You know, I've got things to do. Jor Moon, man about town.
Old Greg: Do ya love me?
Jor: Oh dear.
Old Greg: Do ya think you could ever love me?
Jor: Oh dear, look Greg, I don't know you.
Old Greg: Oh, you know me. You've seen my downstairs mixup.
Jor: Yeah, i didn't ask to see that, did I?
Old Greg: What did it mean to ya to see that? Did it mean you love me?
Jor: No, it didn't!
Old Greg: Could you learn to love me?
Jor: No, i couldn't. I don't love you.
Old Greg: You do love me.
Jor: No i don't!
Old Greg: You do love me.
Jor: No i don't.
Old Greg: You love me, and you've seen me, and you know me. I'm Old Greg!
Jor: Yeah, I know you are. You've told me 89 times now!

Old Greg: You must love me exactly as I love you!
Jor: Well, I don't love you. And to be honest, you're starting to get on my nerves a bit now. If anything, I find you slightly pathetic. So deal with that.
Old Greg: Maybe I will deal with it. Maybe I'll deal with it the way I dealt with Curly Jefferson
>Greg points.
>Camera pans to show corpse of a sailor on the wall.
Jor: You know what Greg? Maybe I was being a bit hasty there when I said I didn't love you. Perhaps, now in this light, with you in the tutu and the water playing off your... kelp, maybe I could love you. Maybe I was lying because when you do love someone, sometimes you say you don't because you're playing hard to get. Playing a game.
Old Greg: Games?
Jor: Yeah, I was playing a game with you.
Old Greg: Love games?
Jor: That's right, love games, Greg.
>Music starts.
Old Greg: Love games.
Do you love me?
Are you playin' your love games with me,
I just want to know what to do, cause I need your love alot, oh come on now
Jor: Movin' too fast, this isn't a race.
Baby, back off, and lower the pace now.
Slow it down, give me with space,
Movin' too fast, this isn't a race.
Movin' too fast, this isn't a race.
