I've been thinking /tg/, and this is the kind of thinking that watching Fist of The North Star, and reading up on Warhammer 40K fluff leads to.

I'm thinking of a Sororitas order devoted entirely, if not mostly to melee weapons, maybe this is to satiate my weeb fetishism for close combat weapons or because the only notable female centric faction (Well, apart from the Eldar, dark and craft-world, though they're to a lesser extent), should get as much opportunity to brain a cultist with their bare fists and/or a thunder-hammer as the marines do.

And yeah, there are the Sisters Repentia, but they're not looking to survive their berserk charge in any fit state.

Anybody got any ideas rules wise? Or even better, how this would work out in fluff?
>>
Hmm, check out the death cultists, they have a nice mix of religious zeal and focus on pointy sticks.

fluff proposal 1) : Order is designated keeper of cathedrals/relics/library/whatever... Their duties are mostly ceremonial (plus a bit of security patrols). No need for guns, but since they have to stay fit (idleness begets heresy after all) they do a lot of martial art training.
Eventually bodyguard duty with emphasis on crowd control, no need for guns either, just put your power armor between the cardinal and any threat, and gut anything that comes to close of his highness.

fluff proposal 2) : Feral world/Planet with a wuxia culture. Lack of ressouces and cultural osmosis made the order specialize in cqc.

fluff proposal 3) : Revered saint killed a demon or equivalent with a sword (or a hammer, or her bare hands). The order considers that it's only proper to try to reproduce that act and train accordingly, even if the time allocated to training in firearms must suffer from it. Ripping and tearing your enemies is the purest act of devotion.

fluff proposal 4) : Order is stationned in a labyrinthic hive where clear lines of sights are scarce / a place where the very air is easily inflammable (or any other comparable unpleasanteness) / a place where monsters lurks and will attack you if they hear a gunshot. Necessity is law.
Alternatively, a space based order would shun on firearms due to the risk of puncturing walls (and the recoil in 0g)
>>
>>43805161
I was actually thinking of something more classical, well, number 3 sounds good, but I was considering that their library contains some old earth stories, perhaps of medieval heroes and such (St George, King Arthur etc), and they happen to have quite a few power weapons or similarly useful melee type implements, not just chain-swords, and fight using the standard shield/hand-weapon combo, perhaps operating alongside a group of unarmoured sisters providing fire support from behind the lines.

Alternatively it could be more arbites styled weapons for crowd control, mauls, riot shields and such, used to pacify unruly populace on shrine worlds or to escort high ranking nobles through dangerous riots or disasters without having to use precious ammo that can be used in better situations....
>>
>>43805161
>easily inflammable
*flammable, dammit.
any practical reason that prevents weapons from being used will do. Fog, underwater, corrosive spores, angry sentient flora ala Avatar, magnetic field pertubating the Bolters machine spirit (resulting in omnipresent jams), liquid prometheum rain, etc...

Also, while I'm at it.
fluff proposal 5) : Imposed penance for the whole order. The order botched a very importatn assigment once, but the Ecclesiarchy, in its infiny benevolence, gave you a chance to redeem yourselves. 10000 years without ranged weapons should teach you the errors in your ways.
>>
>>43805023
>Or even better, how this would work out in fluff?

They all die when they run into something harder than a Guardsman.
>>
I actually quit like the idea of a Sister going all Kung Fu on a demon.

Also, I know FFG fluff is garbage tier but in the Inquisitor's Handbook there's a blerb about a special kind of metal from a feudal world that acts like a poor man's power weapon because it stores and releases kinetic energy

So imagine a bunch of powered armored sisters running around with weapons and fists made of this stuff and swinging on whoever their fighting?
>>
>>43805470
New idea, a Sororitas order deprived of armour and ranged weapons, either due to fucking up royally, or munitorium fuckery/lack of supply, and going into combat with knuckle dusters and boots covered with the stuff and just going all FOTNS on armoured troops by collecting kinetic energy and punching them through the chest.....
>>
>>43805470
What about if they don't have armour or ranged weapons (Apart from flack armour and such basic shit) and end up having to use weapons or covering their fists and feet in this metal and going FOTNS on armoured troops. I know some special forces troops, in north Korea I think it was, punch wood until their hands are close to breaking to make them even harder (Due to the new bone...?), and basically training ala Rocky 4 to kill people with their bare hands.
>>
Character creation necron: Sanctuary 101 massacre by necron flayed ones. They drape the flesh of their victims over there heads...so

Some flayed one running around with a furry slitted hat.

I call him Mr. Bobbins.
>>
>>43805523
>>43805540

Why not? A small group of soroitas set to guard a new temple. Shit gets real and their primary weapons and armor is either held up or doesn't get to them so they have to rely on whatever weapons and their martial skill to defend the new temple.

Queue the legend of the future Canoness who beats a demon possessed freak to death with her bare hands and the power of her faith.
>>
>>43805562
Sanctuary 101, being a convent full of Sisters of Battle of course
>>
>>43805575
I should actually do a short bit of writing about this, I realise I've had this idea in the back of my head for a while, but it was more just genuine "Oh, what if...", rather than any substantial reason, but martial arts nuns beating the shit out of people with kinetic weapons and maybe a pew or two would make for some delicious things to write about o-o
>>
>>43805221
I suppose sisters can replace arbites in church worlds, since it allows the ecclesiarchy to retain more control than with a concurrent organization acting as police force.

>fight using the standard shield/hand-weapon combo
>escort high ranking nobles
Sounds like inquisitorial crusaders (that are quite similar to sisters in most regards, except they accept both genders). Look at the class in the Ascension book. It's not made for starting characters, but you should be able to find some nice ideas.

>without having to use precious ammo
I can get behind the idea, but what about holy prometheum ? It's supposedly plentiful, and flamethrowers are great at crowd-control.

On a sidenote, I wonder how sisters would react to finding texts about Joan of Arc, since she's perfection incarnate in adeptas soriritas' terms.
>>
>>43805633
>Inquisitorial Crusaders
I guess I'm proposing this more because Sororitas deserve a little more depth for the various forms their orders can take, a bit like all the varieties of Space Marine Chapters /tg/ has come up with over the years, and since the Ecclesiarchy would end up with all the candidates the marines reject, the base for different Sororitas Orders is pretty large.
>>
>Writefaggotry incoming

Sister Charlotte emerged from the grand wooden doors of the Order of The Armoured Heart’s fortified chapel, looking out from the top of the hill on which it was situated at the blazing orgy of violence their city had suddenly become, for two weeks the Sisters had taken shelter along with the faithful and needy inside the sanctified training ground, halting all exercises and readying their staffs, polearms, fists and swords for what they assumed was a typical riot of malcontents. However, what soon came to light was a deep rot in the core of the place, something that even the arbites could not handle, and as she observed the slaughter and violence in the streets the Mother Superior’s words echoed in her ears, “Suffer not those who would inflict pain on the innocent, they deserve only a thousand fold in return”, and she readied her long staff, almost as tall as she was the polished metal gave only a dull glint to the orange lights below them, her only armour on her forearms, hands and shins of the same metal, a holy weapon befitting their order. The other sisters soon joined her in looking out across the city, specks of orange and yellow blossoming in the distance from the area of the promethium refineries, Charlotte could only curse that they hadn't noticed the rot setting in before, Sister Anna approached, mace steady even as the purity seals stitched to her robe waved in the warm wind, “We require your order Ma’am…”, she said softly, Charlotte nodded a bit, wearily sighing before raising her staff in both hands, bellowing the war cry of good, Emperor fearing people the Imperium over, “Suffer not the traitors to live! For they are not worthy of our mercy!”, the others shouted in approval as one, raising maces and shields to the sky. Charlotte breathed out, visible in the cold air, they would bring this city back from the brink if it killed them...
>>
>>43806672
So, we've got a name and the basic sort of thing here, I'll have to clarify this in later pieces but only the armour is made of the kinetic metal, that and the Canoness' pole-arm, so when those weapons either break or don't work they'd technically be doing better with their bare hands

>Anybody got any ideas rules wise?

Inquisition book. Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor and a melee-oriented retinue.

>Or even better, how this would work out in fluff?

Planetary gun control.

The order makes use of melee weapons through a loophole like the one that allowed the Ecclesiarchy to have women at arms.
>>
>>43807087
> Sister Octavia got into CQC with a buffed up Chaos mutant
> Manages to disarm him of his giant machete by cutting the arm off with her glaive
> Mutant goes Khorne and grows tentacles
> "I'm not this kind of girl" says Octavia as she throws away her glaive and activates her armor's spiked knuckles
> Punches mutant in the face with lightning speed and proceeds to rip out one of his tentacles
> Uses tentacle as improvised whip and hits the mutant in the face again
> Now the mutant's pissed off even more so
> Shoots his two remaining tentacles out
> Sister Octavia dodges then and cuts off one with the bladed side of her spikes and stomps on the other and rips it out
> Proceeds to jump on the mutant and commences to punch him into the ground
> Hours later she realizes she was punching a gore filled hole in the ground
>>
I'm drawing a blank here but wasn't it Japanese peasants who trained with farm tools to defend themselves against corrupt lords? Maybe this order has a similar origin.
>>
>>43807272
I'd probably have it more like....

>Sister Octavia meets a Khorne Cultist, doesn't need to wear her armour for that so just shows up in monk's robes.
>Cultist fags out talking about how he's so skilled he killed a hundred guardsmen with one hand.
>Octavia pulls out polearm and he says, "Ha! That pathetic weapon won't even scratch me!", pulls out super-deluxe-spikey-knife which shoots out flames and tries to stab her.
>Octavia blocks and yawns, whacks him on the head and begins spinning it as he stumbles away.
>Cultist rants and gets furious, shouting how he's a chosen one and all the horrible things he's going to do to her.
>Spinspinspinspin
>Cultist continues ranting and pulls out a big fuck-off sword.
>Octavia stops spinning and throws the staff at him
>Staff ends up embedded in his chest, Octavia walks up and rips it out before smacking his head off with it.
>Walks off to kill more cultists.
>Commisar writes a report about how they found the leader of the cult with a staff shoved from his throat out his rectum, request for a new one because Octavia doesn't want to, "Clean the fear-shit off it".

>The air choked with heat and the smell of burning promethium. Sister Alyssia rose to her knees and fought to catch the oxygen her body was desperately craving for having been buried under the rubble of what used to be the governor's mansion.

>As she steadied herself that's when they came, the blood soaked shadows that seemed to walk out of the walls of fire forming an inescapable arena.

>As they came closer their forms became clear, the lean and muscular bodies adorned with heretical symbols and various hooks and rings from which they attached their poorly made suits of armor. Even having spent the last of their bullets they began to pull knives and spears ever ready to continue fighting.

>Alyssia took to her feet having found her second wind and took a quick assessment of her weapons: Her boltgun was gone, lost possibly in the ruins, her pistol had screamed it's last shell into the skull of a priest of a these heretic's dark gods and all she had left was the spear from a suit of armor that lined the non-existent hall. She would not be deterred and took a quick twirl of the spear to assess it's balance and to mark her distance and still they approached...
>>
>>43808527
Go on...
>>
>>43808527

>The only noise that could be heard was the sound of heretic's wheezing breath and the cackling of flames. It wasn't until the broken piece of wall finally fell before they all rushed at once, shouting a gutteral and frightening battle cry as they advanced.

>Alyssia did not wait for them and pushed off with her right spinning the spear's wide blade above her head before cutting down on the nearest cultist in front of her. The blade was caught in his throat causing him to thrash but she pushed forward taking the heretic with her to force her way out of the closing circle.

>As the cultist turned she had kicked the cultist off her blade and adanvced once again. She thanked the Emperor that the spear was not a show piece granted it was heavy, it's metal shaft allowing her to deflect the wild blows of make shift machetes and stolen swords and knives. She pushed them away and slamed the shaft into the face of one near her and quickly spun it around to smash blunt end into eye of another. Cutting, smashing, blocking, deflecting, parrying the exchange was fierce but her training would preserve her over the maddened swings of rank amateurs.

>As Alyssia turned and thrusted the spear's blade into the sternum of the remaining few she was caught unawares as a blurry glint came down and easily severed her spear. The blow was no doubt meant for her head and would have been had she not backed away in the few precious seconds it took causing her to fall back having momentairly lost her footing.

>She took hold of the broken heft of the spear and quick slid back to put some distance between her and the new assailant and took in the sight of the thing's hulking form: Thick slabs of muscles and large scared hands easily pulled the axe out of the earth and set it to rest on it's broad shoulders. it's face was covered by a helmet who's helmet was made into the same symbol the cultust wore on their bodies...
>>
>>43808301
I'm thinking something like, this

>Mother Superior of the order, Brunhilde, the spear wielding warrior known for her calm and warm disposition, even in the worst of situations. Having led the order for over 200 years one would not guess from her relatively youthful features her age, and her skill as the most experiences spear user among the order.

I'll think of some history, significant battles and such.
>>
>>43809057
Nice.

Give them a battle where they not only survived a Dark Eldar Wych Cult assault, but also managed to pin them down into brutal combat.
>>
>>43809168
>"Reports that Sister Octavia inserted her pole-arm into the rectum of the Wych leader and held her off the ground for an hour are unsubstantiated and any talk of it should be met by a harsh whipping" - Commisar Fairchild after his Regiment was sent in to relieve the Order of the Armoured Heart after combat with a Wych cult .
>>

>>
>>43809777
Could be they have Thunderhammers, maybe something like a relic that's a super sharp sword, with the wielder able to just go Raiden on Tanks and cut them into pieces, though that's more fluffy than crunchy, so I'd stick with them having melta pistols as sidearms in crunch.

Sorry, hit word count and had to eat

>The Heretic walked with the baring of a seasoned warrior and a competant, eager killer. While Alyssia had few difficulties with the lesser cultist they would be a hinderance should she have to fight all of them at once but she was resigned to do so.

>Unlike the others, this one did not hesitate to attack. With both hands on the axe the blade became a blur and swung with speed and precision that belied the monster's appearance. Lacking the space to retreat, Alyssia pushed forward and used the broken spear to catch the shaft of the axe in a desperate attempt to block it so the blade only bit into her arm through her armor instead of cleaving through her abdomen. Biting back the pain she brought up her foot for a savage front kick to the man's knee and brought the shaft about to smash it against his head only to have it caught in his iron grip.

>The monster seemed to be purposefully ponderous in it's movement, enjoying every second, every blow and bruise it gave and received in turn. The beast threw the broke spear away forcing Alyssia to lose her grip least she went with it. It quickly regained it's grip on the axe and being to close for a clean cut jabbed the butt of the axe into her shoulder and followed with a strong kick to her ribs sending her flying off the small hill they had been fighting on.

>As she fell the beast was quickly following behind, she grabbed for the nearest thing she could reach and pulled a jagged piece of plascreete using it to catch herself and cease her tumbling. She looks up to see the dark form leaping into the air, axe in hand to rend her apart forcing her to leap at him and tackle it catching it by surprise. No doubt the fiber bundles of her armor strained under the thing's weight but she managed to hold on turning the thing aside and forcing it to fall onto it's back. Empowered by fury and adrenaline she stamps the beast's wrist forcing it to let go of it's axe and fell upon it...
>>
>>43810143
Didn't think about them so intensely, but I think they could be fluffed out as weapons that belonged to the noble family from which one of their Mother Superior came from. That Mother Superior lived back in the earliest days of the coven.

Family got slaughtered by Chaos Cultists in a epic last stand and only she survived (because she was fighting somewhere else along her warriors).

She came back and found the weapons safe from heretic hands. She then proceeded to find the cultists and with her warriors slaughter them to a man...until she found out they had a Hellbrute with them.

She killed the Hellbrute by stabbing it with one swords, and the proceeded to cut him out with the other from its sarcophagus.

After the battle she gave away the swords to the sisterhood's reliquary for future use.
>>
>>43810223

>(cont) using her plascreet dagger she jams it into the eye slot of it's helmet causing it to howl in pain . She straddles it's chest and begins to pound relentlessly into it's armored head. Blow after blow her punches are relentless only stopping to swat away it's hand as it tried to reach up and grab at her.

>It seemed like she punched it for an eternity and the thing seemed to be immortal and immune to her assualt but by the time she was exhausted and she could no longer feel her fist there was a goring mess where once a head had been. She fell to her side, her body spent and her arms felt warm and wet from the blood that seeped from her broken hands. She vaguely recalled that there were other cultist about her and wondered why they hadn't set themselves upon her but at the very least she felt she had done her duty for the Emperor.

>Hearing the sounds of several footsteps approaching her she willed her body to turn and face the new assailants but thankfully the Emperor had seen fit to see her serve him more as the familiar shape of fellow sisters appeared and a hospitaliar at her side quickly and efficiently tending to her now broken body.

>"What of the battle?" Alyssia spoke up meekly barely having the energy to raise her gore encrusted hand. "Rest now sister, the heretics have been routed and we are taking care of the stragglers, the death of their commander was a grevious blow to their morale."
>>

I am not quite happy with it to be honest, but work is work. And drawing quickly is a skill to be picked up. In case anyone was wondering, brush and nib with Windsor&Newton ink were used, plus a pen and a ruler for the halberd's staff.

Really nice, especially the face and general proportions.

When I hear 'stores and releases kinetic energy' I think of a flywheel. Great inertia resists speeding up and slowing down. So perhaps such a material has disproportionate inertia for it's weight and size, and requires a longer wind-up.

As they described it the version that is a chain is more powerful then the fist version because you can spin the chain around to store up energy so I'm assuming it's better made for weapons like flails and what not although a powered armored fist covered in the metal could do a lot more then just straigh muscle (unless you're a marine of course)
