Welcome to A Song of Revenge and Gold: House Malroy Quest. In which you take the reins of a House of storied glorious past since Aegon’s Conquering, but whose fortunes have taken a turn for the worse in the doom that Robert’s Rebellion brought. Taking place in 284AC a year after the Rebellion has ended you are Brynden Malroy, second son to Lord Vamos Malroy and Lady Esemella Hayford and the last living heir to Steadhold and House Malroy.

House Malroy is a pre-genned House designed around the idea of a story within the Crownlands of a House fiercely loyal to the Targaryens and their attempts to live in this new world after Robert’s Rebellion. The new Lord Brynden Malroy is as well pre-genned but will take direction from the players in his ways and how he develops himself further. This Quest will be moderately more story driven than others of its kind, but the development of the House and her lands will take just as much importance.

If you’ve played the one of the many Quests within the ASoIaF setting the rules of the SIFRP system should be known. I will be using the Game of Thrones edition, as well as a few of the expansions namely OOSP and a few house rules which will be explained as we come to them. If you have questions about how things work or why certain actions are taken I can explain them as we go along. In truth this is a learning experience for me as well.

And now without further ado.
>>
“Brynden? Are you well?” Wesley asks, keeping his stride short to you side as you wander towards the Tower of the Sun.

You were not, your mind hadn’t ceased since the day prior, Dontos’ confessions echoed in your head, you were certain of many things, and yet none. And each and every half truth ate at your heart, it kept your senses at bay, You only knew singular focus, you wanted answers. You did not care of whom, the King, the Queen, Jon Arryn, the Spider, Royce Redward at swordpoint, didn’t matter. But you needed to put on a face, there was things expected of you, people to meet, ands to shake, so you put on your front, a face cold as the grave, emerald eyes more telling of a coming storm than the glimmer jewel.

“Yes Wesley, I am fine,” you respond, allowing a guard to get the door for the two of you, “It’s only my leg, just distracted.”

Your cousin seems discontent with the answer, he knew something worse was at work, but was as in the dark as you felt. He smiles in his way and attempts to pull a better mood from you with small words and talks of the initial ongoings of the peace talks. Prince Doran and Lord Arryn had been getting along well enough, their moments at court the day prior had been well received. Words of Prince Oberyn’s lack of appearance alongside his brother had taken root as well, worry that such indicated he was far away from his brother’s position on the subject. You thought otherwise at the moment, he seemed certain these talks were nothing more than a stunt, preordained. And it was odd, what purpose did winding all of Dorne into a frenzy serve? Prince Doran could have prevented it with a single word but it was allowed to come to this. So many questions you did not know the answer to.
>>
Entering the private room you find Lady Giselle and Ser Grover waiting for yourself and Wesley, the latter looking annoyed by your tardiness, the former concerned by your limp.

Wesley and yourself bow, and you speak, “Ser Grover, Lady Giselle, my apologies for our lateness. I find myself taking a far longer time to travel about as of present, I hope you will forgive us.”

Ser Grover nods and his sister flushes with a blush as she speaks to you, “You are forgiven my Lord. We were told of your… Altercation. It is good to see you able to walk about at all still.”

Retracting your bow you seat yourself with a small degree of difficulty, Wesley helping you, before taking his own seat.

“A rather ill timed thing that Lord Malroy,” Grover adds after his sister is finished, a shooting glance of a look stopping his words partially.

“Hardly could have planned it better in truth,” you respond, “The Dornish have never been particular to my House, perhaps a long awaited karmic rebalance.”

“And yet they seem partial to you now my Lord, Lord Qorgyle and Ser Santagar seemed entertained by your words,” he responds.

“Simple introductions, our intentions are peace, no? Why not aid in such efforts,” you say, watching the servants bring in a simple lunch with a dornish flavor that you enjoyed quite thoroughly.

“Well thought my Lord. Ser Deron Dalt seems to be of the same mind,” Grover says, taking a cut from his meal and chewing it thoroughly, his sister shoots him another look, clearly unhappy with Ser Deron’s intentions.

If you remembered correctly Ser Deron was the Knight of Lemonwood, a widower with two young sons already. You were unsure if your word would change anything in this regard, undoubtedly the only thing that would change such were your own pursuits proper of the young Lady. Lord Arryn’s words echoed in your head, her worth was not in her House but of greater purpose. But still it left you unsure.
>>
You idle away the meal, allowing Ser Wesley and Grover to chat of martial things, of the Melee you would be holding soon. Ser Grover is of the opinion that a Joust would be more honorable, while your cousin insists the core skill at arms of a Knight is far more important than is ability to ride his horse with a long stick aimed at another. You can’t help to laugh at this assessment. Lady Giselle gathers your attentions with her small looks and you begin to make your own back, enough to gain small giggles from her leaving her brother seemingly unaware.

“Lord Malroy, may I ask you something?” she asks suddenly, her brother’s attentions turned elsewhere.

“Of course Lady Giselle.”

“Why did you leave for Essos? They tell of your stories while there, yet no one knows your purpose for leaving.”

Ser Grover’s eyes have made their way back to you, he seemed just as curious of the question as his sister. Wesley’s mouth is slightly ajar, you had told him the reason before, a rare thing, but since he had grown close to your son it was likely to come out regardless. But that was an exceedingly private thing for those who were not aware, Victus being a bastard, not so much, but Lysa… She was.

Like many problems in my life, it all started with a woman. I cared deeply for her, ran away to Essos leaving my family behind, a mistake I deeply regret to this day.

When she asks what happened to her

>Died, in childbirth.

Simple and cold.

Eh. Died when she was murdered in the streets of Tyrosh but otherwise. I agree with the general gist of it.

So, where/when did Dontos got his arm fucked if it wasn't at the villa while they raped our mother/sister?
I'd though Varys would send goldcloacks with orders not to rough him up that much...but....
>>
You chew on your lip a bit, the topic was one you greatly disliked in general, with your mind in the state it was currently… To say you were uncomfortable was an understatement. The thought rolls around your head a moment longer, gather what stories and songs you knew to make this a far more palatable story. Highborn ladies were not the proper company to tell such things to, even you knew that.

“I… Had fallen in love,” you begin. The room is quiet, Wesley’s eyes now remain on his food, Grover’s on you, his fork on the plate, Lady Giselle’s eyes keep to your own, fleeting as they were, twisting the ringlets in her hair in a nervous fidget.

“Like the crown Prince before me, I had found my Jenny of Oldstones, a lowborn girl in King’s Landing while I was squring there in my youth. She sang sad songs about love lost in the tavern my sponsor liked to frequent, and I would often speak to her in the fleeting moments before I left. I made jests to her laughter, played dance to her songs, and courted her as if she was a highborn lady.”

Grover scoffs a bit, gaining a glancing look from his sister again.

“She wrote me a song once, about the horses of my House, though it has been so long that I could not tell you the lyrics, lost they are, with her. The night she sang that song I made love to her my first, her own as well. I had fallen madly in love with the girl. And she me. In time my visits became more frequent, my promises more mad, I would marry her, and she would be my Lady, my father be damned. She got with child, and in that brief moment of brazen stupidity I declared my intentions to my Lord Father, a notion he disagreed with immensely and ordered me to forget the girl.”
>>
Wesley has his attention turned to you as well, he knows this lie, it isn’t the first time you’ve used it. But he remains unsure of why you tell it.

“But I could not, I made plans. To whisk her away in the dead of night after the child had been born. She was aglow with happiness whenever I would speak of it. And then… The child came, Victus as many know, but the birth was… Complicated, she died in labor, giving herself for our son to be born. I was stricken with grief, and in that made my folly. I fled, I thought my father would have never accepted the child, so I left behind my family in Westeros, and went to Essos. To raise my son. To remember her. And there I stayed, becoming the man you see before you now. That is why I left for Essos Lady Giselle, for love, and love lost.”

The room continues in its cold silence for a moment, you roll an olive on your plate with your fork, unable to really go in further on the subject. Parts of it were true, Lysa had a particular love of singing, it was what had attracted you to her in the first place, and she had wrote you a song. But the rest, a tangled mess of lies, no one knew any difference now, all these years later.

“That is very sad my Lord,” Lady Giselle says finally breaking the silence, “I am sorry to have asked such of you.”
>>
“It is the past my Lady. Buried amongst the dead of my House, and there it will stay,” you respond, that lie felt more obvious then any other you told today but she gave you simple smile and nod in response, respectful of the way you wished the topic to end.

The lunch finishes in short order and you bid them off, Ser Grover had drills to run with Arryn’s guard, while Lady Giselle was expected to attend Prince Doran’s wife at court later this evening. You had a hawking venture to go on, you were wished luck and Lady Giselle asked you promise her a dance at tonight’s dinner, a simple request. Wesley helps you to the Spear Tower again, not entirely sure of what to say, his youth betrayed im in moments such as that, he was not sure of the greater intrigues of court. Ser Lucas awaits you, holding Goldsong and his own horse, his sea eagle on his arm. Somehow Ser Lucas was the only member of your Household currently that knew how to hawk, though his preferred landscape was the sea.

“Ready to fail miserably my Lord?”

“Have some faith Ser Lucas.”

“I will ask your Uncle to lend me some of his.”

---
>>
The desert sun beats down upon you relentlessly, long ago you’ve abandoned any hope of looking proper and have stripped down at least the top portion of your clothing. Lord Qorgyle is ahead of you, Ser Symon in his tracks. Your horse keeps up with them well enough in a terrain he hardly knew, but your tracking skills left much to be desired.

“Lord Malroy, how do you find the deserts of Dorne?” Lord Qorgyle calls back, his falcon shifting on his arm, head twirling about.

“Could be a bit warmer my Lord, do you find our targets easier to track in the height of summer?”

“I would see no other time so ample, the pickings are still fresh from the spring,” he responds and bounces his falcon off his arm, taking great flight towards an unknown target.

You frown and trot Goldsong up next to them, watching Lucas’ eagle flying off in pursuit of another. In the corner of your eye you see the haunches of a jackrabbit bounding away over a dune, your hawk is an old fella but he seems to know his purpose. You bounce him off in the proper direction and hope for the best.

You didn't make a mistake, there's an optional rule that lets you substitute Animal Handling for Survival with GM approval.

Yo, catching up on the end of the last thread. Why haven't we investing in the Master of Arms holding yet? They're pretty good.

Success, one degree.

You watch your hawk take measure of the the poor creature, and then dive, gripping it in his talons and dragging it into the sand below. You watch him keep flap about for a moment, struggling with the weight of its mark. Smiling to yourself you note Lucas’ eagle diving its own mark, making short work of the poor creature, while Lord Qorgyle’s and Ser Symon’s do much the same. An even match for now.

“Not a poor first run my Lord. Though hares are easy marks, quick, but not able to outrun a trained bird,” Lord Qorgyle says and he bounds off to retrieve his hare.

Lucas follows after you, and watches you dismount to put the poor creature of of its misery. A black-tailed hare, common enough, but a small trophy all the same. You knew your greater purpose in this little contest, and gaining Lord Quentyn’s ear was the far more important task. You latch the jackrabbit by its legs to the side of Goldsong and go to meet you companions once more.

“Ser Symon, do you happen to lose your hare?” Lucas calls as you continue on after, nothing his lack.

He grumbles and flips his hand in the air, “Escaped, no matter. Greater marks to be had.”

Lucas laughs heartily and you can only keep yours stifled, but just barely, deciding to ride up to Lord Quentyn instead, “Lord Quentyn?”

“Lord Brynden?”

You wish to ask him questions, probe the man’s mind a bit, see where his thoughts truly lie. As of now he seemed joyful, not dour like the other Lords or fit to bursting as Prince Oberyn had. But of what?

>Questions for Lord Qorgyle?

Lets start out with light conversation. Ask him about his house and family.
>>
>>43542800
How does he find being a Lord? Any tips for a sellsword?
>>
Did everyone die?
>>
>>43542800
Ask him about advice on acting lordly, management, and make small talk about House Qorgyle's history and his family.

>>43543077
I just got here.
>>
Ask him what his role is in the peace talks, since he downplayed it earlier.
>>
“My Lord I find myself at a disadvantage of your House, perhaps a brief history?”

Lord Qorgyle puffs himself up again, an easy to feed ego, though the same age as Dontos the two could not be any different, “I would be happy my Lord, my ancestors were traveling andals that made their home in the bleak desert to the far west of Sunspear, Sandstone now being our home. Over the years since Nymeria’s War we have been staunch supporters of the Martells, the scorpions flagging alongside the speared sun.”

“Of late my family is considerable, did you know my Uncle is the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch? He took his vows willingly even, a Knight among rapists and thieves. My lady wife, a Dayne of High Hermitage, Lady Elsa, and my two sons, Gulien and Arron. The elder the squire of Prince Oberyn. And there is my younger brother, Ser Quintis, currently in service in Skyreach to Lord Fowler. I do believe him more of your age my Lord.

As of now we are in a far better position after the Rebellion than many others. Many of my family still live, and my military and resources are not depleted so much as to be worthless. Even our trade remains strong, light as it is.”

Odd, he did not mention Obella, a strange thing. You watch him pause a moment and bounce his falcon towards a mark you had not noticed, you scan the area and find it lacking, tsking to yourself in disappointment you continue on.

“And of yourself Lord Malroy?”
>>
You briefly explain your House’s history, your remaining family, and toss in a brief mention being unmarried, just to see if you can bait him into admitting Obella’s existence. Of which he does not take instead giving a quick noise of acknowledgement. Instead you change to his House, feigning the ignorant sellsword persona.

“Exports my Lord? Dare I ask, my House is still in straits dire, my management skills seem to be lacking… Might I ask simple advice from a seasoned Lord?”

He laughs, his chest remaining in its puffed up state, “I would imagine it be so simple as not burning your Steadhold down at this moment my Lord Malroy. Otherwise, perhaps you should avoid finding yourself in such dangerous situations, a House without her Lord is hardly a House at all.”

You laugh at his jape, pretending, you had your own demons to be handled, he knew nothing of this, had it not been for his sister… Hardly her fault, you remind yourself.

“Perhaps indeed my Lord Qorgyle, earnest counsel.”

“And yet you seem not the type to take it my Lord. You are more like my kinsmen then the Crownslanders, the fire is in your eyes of a dornishmen.”

You pause on the thought the glimmer of a hare caught in your eye again and you bounce your hawk that way, another clean kill and you match Lord Qorgyle again. The black-tailed hare bounce on your saddle as you continue along your way, breeching more delicate topics.

“So my Lord, a day prior you seemed to downplay your importance in these ‘peace talks’, might I ask your position? Perhaps purpose?”
>>
“Hm, rather obvious my position Lord Malroy, I stand by Prince Oberyn, what was done was an injustice and it should be met with bloody reprisal. As for my role in all of this? I keep Prince Oberyn’s council, offer word, advice. He is a dear friend of mine, born of grown youth. I stand by him in this entirely.”

You nod along, unsure of how to respond entirely. Obella had been right, he was certainly proud, but his lack of mentioning her felt odd. You chew over the thoughts, speaking of your ancestors and history to a greater degree, the Malroys and Qorgyles had met many times before, in various circumstances. And then off in the distance you see a the faintest of a glimmer of a fox, her large ears and bushy tails giving it the look of a fennec. Certainly a greater prize in this little contest. But Lord Qorgyle also notices, and bounces his falcon quickly, forcing you to hastily do the same with your elderly hawk.

Reminder.

>It was rumored that Lord Qorgyle arranged the murder by scorpion of Lord Lyonel Tyrell

>Lord Lyonel faithfully, if perhaps too boldly, commanded the army that invaded Dorne via Prince's Pass. After the Young Dragon's initial victory, Daeron appointed Lyonel as governor of Dorne. The Dornishmen however proved cunning and impossible to rule. Lyonel moved with his train from one keep to the next, chasing rebels out and keeping the knees of the Dornishmen bent. It was his custom to turn the lords of the keeps he stayed in out of their chambers and sleep in their place. One night at Sandstone, finding himself in a bed with a heavy velvet canopy, he pulled a sash near the pillows to summon a wench. When he did so, the canopy opened and a hundred red scorpions fell upon him.

>It was rumored
>>
Failed.

Watching your hawk diligently you harder seem surprised when he is out maneuvered and outpaced by the greater falcon of Lord Qorgyle. When it pummels into the fox and attempts to keep its position by gripping her neck and pushing it down. Your hawk rears up and instead circles back to you, taking its position with a squawk.

You ride alongside Lord Qorgyle and watch him dismount, withdraw his knife and strike the neck of the unfortunate creature. Her fur was a soft gold and he inspected the prize with a rather happy look upon his face before slinging it over the hares he had collected earlier, “I believe that would be game my Lord.”

You incline your head, “Well played Lord Qorgyle. Truly your falcons are masterful creatures.”

He swings into his saddle and gives you a stern nod, clearly they were his pride and joy, “Masterful would be an understatement Lord Malroy.”

You travel back to find Ser Symon and Lucas arguing over the finer details of an eagle vs a falcon. Lucas had collected three hares, to Symon’s two and seemed to be winning the argument by virtue of his prized sea eagle. He notices your look and laughs a bit, amused by his prediction coming true.
>>
The ride back to Sunspear is short, but you break a moment at an oasis for your horses to water, Ser Symon sings praises of the golden fennec. Lucas rolls his eyes and mimics the motions of a rather intimate gesture, and you almost break down into laughter at the juvenile reaction. The rest of the trip is quick and you find yourself in Sunspear by the evening. Your mind wanders moments here and there, called to attention by Lord Qorgyle’s attempts to pry stories of your journals across the Narrow Sea. He had wished to join Prince Oberyn, but his father had passed away prior to the Rebellion and the House was left to him. He seems rather impressed with you tales closer to Old Valyria and less so with the tiny affairs in the Free Cities. He bids you off when you arrive in Old Palace. You agree to meet in the yard tomorrow for your little archery contest, after court preferably for some audience that had wished to stretch their bones.

This leaves you with a free evening, and you are unsure of how to spend it now.

Lucas leaves off your company with your small bounty of hares, he seems intent on doing something with them, enjoying the feel of them and the look of the coats. Having no particular interest in them you allow him the small pleasure. You travel into the Spear Tower after dropping Goldsong off, noticing your other two horses were gone. You had presented the gift the night prior, despite being in the foulest of moods, and they were accepted happily, though Prince Doran looked far less enthused as his brother Oberyn. Something you noted but cared little for in the end, your mind having been so firmly on what Dontos had told you. So many half truths, a promise upon a red door. You did not know of what or where he meant. You felt like you didn’t have the answer Prince Oberyn wished of you. And it bothered you immensely.

You see Grant jogging down the winding stairs and he informs you that Victus is their room, chatting with Orion. Apparently the boys had become fast friends, they had played about Old Palace, even though Orion was his elder by five years. Victus had an uncanny knack for befriending nearly anyone he met, granted many looked down on him for being a bastard still, he was regarded well among Steadhold, and that did your heart well.

The highgarden family, I believe

I really need to watch the show. It's been so long that I can't remember most of the details from the books.

You reach their room and peek in, seeing Victus pouring over a book pointing at letters and explaining them in his half learned way to his friend, who was clearly having issues with reading, likely he had never learned, a struggle you knew. Victus’ eyes dart to you when you enter and he stops his lessons and comes into your range, not for his usual hug, but off a distance, standing as Dontos had instructed, his posture was good but he fidgeted immensely under it. You wave him over to your side and one armedly hug him, and ask if he would like to practice with his bow. He nods furiously and then rushes off to gather his things below. Orion remains, giving you a sidelong look, but keeping his defiance to himself.

Leaving off to your room you change your clothing to something more suitable for your marksmanship, tighter clothing, your guards, firm boots. The pretty little maid enters unannounced midway through your dressing and her brown face turns to blushes immediately apologizing profusely. Your laugh calms her and you finish dressing behind a divider, passing her glances as she finishes her work. When you emerge buckling your arm guard on properly you have a thought. You had received your first note from this maid, perhaps she had a line to Obella. And her brother’s lack of mention of her worried you to a degree, something felt odd about that.

Sitting to inspect your bandages she gives you a slight look, you grit your teeth inspecting Benjin’s handy work, “Doubtful I’ll leave for dinner tonight on this leg,” you grumble just loud enough for her to hear, “It would be nice to have company tonight...”
>>
>>43544281
Hmm Wife seems like a big choice and we don't seem to have as many posters as usual- perhaps leave off for a bit longer.
>>
Her eyes do not move, but she leaves off with a hurry, hopefully your message was received, otherwise you just looked like an insane person that talked to himself. You pick up your bow, string it, give it a good stretch and satisfied with it leave down for the yard. Victus is already waiting for you, his little bow almost half his side, almost outside of his range of motion, but damn it if he didn’t try. His shots rarely made the target, but when they did they landed on the outside ring. A discouraging thing for the young lad, he hadn’t quite picked up your skill with a bow, but in time he would learn, at least to be functionally like Dontos was.

Taking another driving shot that punished the heart of your target and relieving your stress a moment you survey your surroundings, there were a few onlookers, but none particularly interested in what you were doing, a rather private lesson all things considered. You kneel next to Victus giving him instruction again and watch the arrow fly true to the second ring, and his smile erupting from it. Awhile longer and his shots become weaker from the wear of the exercise and you call it for a night, taking a seat and enjoying the cool night that had rolled in, Victus by your side.

“Father?”

“Yes Victus?”

“Why are we here? It is very pretty, but everyone is so different, we travel more than we did in Essos.”

You ponder a moment and admit to yourself the truth in the statement, you were back and forth from King’s Landing quite a lot in the past month, had intended a trip to Claw Isle, and now here you were, in Dorne, you did travel quite a lot, and left Steadhold under the care of many others.
>>
“Why do you ask Victus?”

“Because…”

“Because?”

“Because I want to stay home. I like Steadhold. I like Lady Lilly and her baby. And how the cook always has sweets for me. I like being around Mason and Solhas, and I miss Illiad… I like Gawen and how he lets me help with the horses and ride my pony. And even though Uncle Dontos is mean sometimes, he always seems happier at home.”

Home. The words stuck at you. So many others called Steadhold home, and yet you still had trouble with it. In a fight for your life a few days prior you felt more at home than you had in a year. Everyone else was making their peace with the idea, except you.

>Response for Victus?
>>
>>43544874
Never mind thought the idea was to choose a wife by the end of the thread not by the end of Dorne.
>>
>>43544896
How do you explain a 8-9 year old kid feudal politics ?
>>
>>43544896
Well we're here to try and prevent another war in the seven kingdoms. I'll try and stay at Steadhold for more than a month when we get back okay?
>>
>>43544896
Home, home.
If we could but stay there we would all be happier I suspect. Unforchunately the buisness of a lord has called me to different places just to keep home as it is. Home needs to be protected and not all in this world wish you well or good Victus. I have to travel to keep home and everyone in it safe.
>>
>>43544896
Keep it simple i.e as lord I have to meet with lots of other people to arrange business, make arrangements with other lords, help the crown so I travel. And I like having you with me when I do.
>>
>>43544896
Just because a war ends doesn't mean it's over. We're here to hopefully see to it to sooth some of the hurts from the war that people from this country felt.
>>
>>43544896
Do mention that we like spending time with him and as he grows older and older and we get married we will have less time to be with him, so Brynden want to enjoy what time they have now
>>
On a side note we should keep Victus on hand with both Giselle and Obella to 'test' the waters and she if either of them is going to have a problem with him. Or who he likes better. One of them might end up being a surrogate mum and I don't want any Catelyn Stark style bitter resentment.
>>
>>43545126
That is a good idea
>>
>>43545126
Solid idea.
>>
>>43545126
Plus we might get a +1d on will to resist humping Obella if Victus is watching...
>>
>>43545195
>what if Victus works his magic, and Obella's the one having to pass a will check...and fails it?
>>
>>43545195
Using Victus as a seduction shield makes me laugh.
>>
>>43545237
>Roll Will to not pick up Victus and hug him forever and ever
>>
>>43545237
Then we'll be following in true Valyrian tradition.
>>
You sigh, in Essos he hadn’t asked this many questions, he was a curious child, but he understood his life, it wasn’t anything new to him. The Second Sons were his family, your more immediate men his second fathers in a sense. Since coming to Westeros he had asked odd questions every day, his life had been turned upside down, suddenly people weren’t as generally friendly. He had an ‘uncle’ that was harsher to him then many others in his life. And now you were drug about by some imaginary string that he didn’t understand entirely.

“Victus, do you remember what I did when I was in Essos?”

“You fought father, bad people.”

“Yes I did, and I wasn’t the only one. Sometimes other people fight, a lot of them. And when it is over there are a lot of hurts still left unhealed, understand?”

“Sort of...”

You sigh again, “And it’s my job to take care of those hurts now. Now when we travel it’s because someone told me to help them, so that we can keep home safe, yeah?”

“But why do I have to come all the time?”

“Because I want to spend time with you Victus, because the world isn’t always going to allow us to spend every moment together like it use to. When you get older things will be different, you’ll have brothers and sisters, and you’ll need to make sure they don’t get hurt. And maybe sometimes they’ll ask you to travel for them or with them. Sometimes that’s just the way of the world. We travel from home, so that we can make home safer and happier.”
>>
He sits quiet and scratches at his head for a moment and looks up to you with his hazel eyes so much like Lysa’s it hurt your heart upon occasion, “I understand father. So long as we get to stay at Steadhold for awhile when we get home.”

You laugh and draw him in for a hug, “Of course Victus. And then we’ll spend as much time as possible together, promise.”

Leaving the yard with your son by your side a thought occurs to you, your encounters with Obella were often… Intimate, and this one time you would rather they less so, you needed a fairer bit more answers from her this time. And to an extent you thought it a litmus test of sorts, how would she react to your ‘bastard’ child. You loved him dearly, no matter who you courted, he would not be parted from your side, regardless of Dontos and Benjin’s wishes. You give word to a servant to bring dinner to your chambers, enough for three, and tell Victus to get dressed and wash up. You wait at his door for a moment and when he emerges you half hobble up the winding stairs to your room.

You push the door open and find the fire lit, casting eyes to your bed you see a less than fully clothed Obella awaiting you, her eyes dark in the lower light, half lidded in wait for you. Victus comes into view after you, his back to the doorway carrying his shield he had been painting and wanted to show you. The dornishwoman’s eyes dart open, and you quirk an eyebrow, entirely willing to let these events transpire. She covers herself hurriedly, pushing herself off your bed and smoothing her dress into place, her face a mixture of frustration and abject horror.

Victus turns around and looks at her, still smoothing her dress down, and she assumes a proper position and you give introductions, ones that you can’t help but laugh through, “Victus, this is the Lady Obella Qorgyle. Say hello.”
>>
“Hello my Lady, it is nice to meet you.”

“Lady Obella, this is my son, Victus Waters.”

She crosses the room and kneels next to the boy, her eyes casting you a dark look in doing so, “It is a pleasure to meet you too little one,” her hands reach for his hair and fixes his little bun, “There, now you look proper company for a lady. Unlike your Lord father.”

Your lips tremble attempting to keep your laughter down and her eyes drink in the flames of yours in sheer anger by your cruelty, you continue, “Lady Obella will be joining us for dinner tonight Victus, is that okay?”

He tilts his head to her and smiles, “Yes father, she seems like a nice lady.”

Obella stands and gives you proper courtesies, though maintaining her dark look, “I thank you for the invitation my Lord. It was unexpected, but welcome.”

You nod and return with your own, “And I am glad to have you, as is my son. Please sit, I had a topic of some need tonight.” You idly chatter with Obella about the peace talks, she knew much and more then her brother had, apparently the Hand and Prince Doran had been getting along swimmingly, but it was Oberyn that had avoided every chance to speak properly. Frustration was clear in her eyes of that subject. When the servant brings dinner another leaves a cask of dornish red, of which Obella takes to near immediately, perhaps in hopes of hiding her blushes and when they leave you finally delve into the more important topic.

>Questions for Obella?

Man I'm doing a lot of open ended prompts today.
>>
>>43545644
her face a mixture of frustration and abject horror

Tell her we were out hawking with her brother but oddly enough when we talked about the Qorgyle family she was not mentioned.

Also. Cockblocked.

Now if she is anything like we think she is, we are going to be had back again for this.

>>43545662
Speaking with Lord Quentyn he did not mention a sister. Why would that be? Perhaps you are a paramour of Oneryn's instead. Nah you are much too lovely right Victis?

And you had me losing my sides.

>>43545662
Whatever we ask keep the tone light, Victus might spill the beans without realising it. Be subtle in how we tell her things and be as open as we can.

Let her know we shared her info with Arryn and he responded very positively. Make it known we've got the same goal here.

Also gently hint with had a disagreement with some Myrish fellows when last we met. Does she know any Magisters?
>>
>>43545662
>>43545878
Agreed, Also encourage Victus to do some smalltalk aswell.
>>

>Fucking QM you told us Brynden were a passionate man with no impulse control and yet he hasnt attacked!

>>
>>43545878
Are you sure you want to tell her about the Arryn thing? She never asked you to tell him that the deal was pretty much you spy on him we feed you information to help you look more important.
>>
>>43545878
>Let her know we shared her info with Arryn and he responded very positively. Make it known we've got the same goal here.

Yeah let us not do that.
>>
>>43545878
No.

Let her know that current goals align? kind of redundant considering we are part of a peace deligation. Let her know that we told Arryn? no.
>>
>>43545944
Let's NOT tell her we told Arryn anything.
>>
>>43545944
Looks like I'm outvoted, but I think if we aren't upfront and she finds out later it's going to be much worse.
>>
>>43545728
This could be interesting, sorry but can't really think of anything useful to add to the thread today.
>>
>>43546126
Right now is not the time. If we get to a closer relationship with her then it might be a good idea. We never told Jon that we agreed to their favour later on down the line, as far as the hand knows we were approached for an under the table manipulation towards peace.
>>
“On the topic of the peace talks, I met with your brother today, a spot of hawking earlier today.”

“A poor choice my Lord,” she says teasingly.

“As I soon found, as it happens I am rather poor at the sport. However we did speak at length. Of his positions, his House, his family.”

She stops the glass of wine to her lips, and looks at you over it, suddenly aware of something she hadn’t wished you to be.

You finish chewing your food and place your knife and fork down, “An enlightening conversation that. Lord Qorgyle mentioned a wife, his child, an Uncle who is the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch, a young brother, and yet…” you’re careful of your words, Victus knew not to speak things out of turn but he was nine, his skills of subtlety may be lacking.

Obella finishes her drink, a longer one than she had intended and places the glass down, fidgeting with a fingernail and avoiding your gaze. Every encounter with her had either been highly competitive, or highly intimate, to have her in a more formal situation seemed to be outside of her comfort zone, at least with a child involved. Her seductions would still come into play around the courts of Westeros but not here.
>>
Victus speaks up in the silence, excited to show you his shield he had been painting, Obella casts him a happy glance and you relent for the moment, you would have your answers, eventually. You finally figure out where the little sash of red had come from, the background of your house’s colors were inverted, with the golden horse still proud, but in the left hand corner was a red strip, his own little addition. It was a poorly painted thing, but he was happy with it all the same, and chatted away happily to Obella when she asked to see it and complimented his horse.

“Victus, do you know the House Qorgyle colors?” she asks him.

He taps his chin thinking on Benjin’s lessons, “Three scorpions… On… Red?”

“Scarlet little one, but very close. Can you paint me a picture of them? I would love to have such a beautiful thing to remember our fond meeting.”

He shakes his head furiously after looking to you for approval, and you nod him allowance. Well at least she was kindly to him, whether it was false or not you could not say but it settled your heart a measure.

“Lady Obella? Do you have any family?” Victus’ mind was still on your spoken words moments earlier, and thankfully they served your aims.

She casts her eyes to you, finally relenting her darker looks to something more of a plea of forgiveness, “I… Yes I do little one. I have two brothers. But I have not seen either in some time, we had a terrible fight many years ago. Because I refused to play with my brother’s friend.”
>>
Your head turns to her fully, and you lip a name, ‘Oberyn?’ and she nods silently back.

“I’m sorry Lady Obella, I wish I had brothers or a sister. I wouldn’t ever fight with them. I’m suppose to protect them,” he nods to the words and she nods back, a look of sadness on her eyes.

Well there was a rather interesting answer, not that she was disinherited, but rather just disowned for the moment. Lord Quentyn’s pride was more than his downfall, it was his vice. To abandon a sister simply because she wouldn’t sleep with the Prince? If you were interpreting her words correctly at least. As you sit quietly thinking this over you watch Victus continue to chatter to a woman you did not know. Her voice had turned to kindness, her manner caring, motherly almost, not the seductress that constantly begged you for more. It was an odd sight.

For a moment you ponder the thought, if you could very well speak with her in private, find more details, or simply allow the night to continue as it had. You had the oddest feeling she wouldn’t be particularly keen on attempting to sleep with you this time either way.

>Send Victus away, speak with Obella privately
>Allow the night to continue (anything else specify to ask?)
>>
>>43546348
>>Send Victus away, speak with Obella privately
All right Victus I hthink its time I talked to the Lady alone. Say your prayers before bed.
>>
>>43546348
>Send Victus away, speak with Obella privately

Almost time for bed. Have to get your sleep so you can grow big and strong.
>>
>>43546328
>Send Victus away, speak with Obella privately

So she doesn't actually bring as much to the table as we thought...
>>
>>43546348
Let Victus stay, he seems to be better at getting details out of her than we are.

Plus his line about protecting a sibling is really encouraging he'd make a great Knight sworn to trueborn heirs.
>>
>>43546348
Let Victus chat a little longer then send him away to do his nightly chores/prayers etc.

>Send Victus away, speak with Obella privately

>>43546422
Still the most interesting out of the two prospectives, and we now know she would be kind to our son. Thats a pretty solid point in her favour.
>>
>>43546467
Oh no, I still like Obella. It just depends on Giselle's reaction to Victus right now for me.
>>
>>43546422
Mmm kind of.

If you wanted the full benefits of a Qorgyle marriage you would need to mend their relationship. He would still pay you a dowry for marrying her, as she is family and it is required of him. And if you build a strong relationship with him, he'd be more inclined to help you regardless. But that's a matter of appealing to his pride and ego.

However, Prince Doran will be happier to see you married to her, given that her loyalties lie with him. Not the full set of benefits that marrying Giselle and Arryn would give to you mind.

As a side point on both, their dowries are equal. So that's not a factor for either you need to worry about.
>>
>>43546554
Sounds like a perfect excuse to hang out in Dorne after this little peace escapade.

If we can fix their relationship it would also bode well for ours with Obella as a wife and husband.
>>
>>43546554
>>43546649

On the other hand we know that the Dornish connection wont just up and disappear like the Hand connection, which can change.

And we are not intrigant enough to stop Arryns death, meaning only what ten years of a hand connection at best?

Prince Doran outlives him...
>>
>>43546649
Not too keen on this, we've got our own lands to manage, don't want to get back and find Redward's burnt the place to the ground.

Even if we do go for Obella (and I still want to see what Giselle's like) her place will be with us in Steadhold.
>>
>>43546554
So ne buddies with him? Looks like it's time to set up a friendly and competitive rivalry while appealing just enough to his ego to make him like us.
>>
>people falling for this bait this hard

Of course she's a fan of Victus! She's trying to seduce us! Damn it guys get it together!
>>
>>43546741
So, just continue what we were doing ?
>>
>>43546734
We arnt sticking round after the peace talks anon, the idea is to come back after we deal with redward to fix the relationship.
>>
>>43546782
Or we could simply try patch things up during the peace talks.
>>
>>43546681
Unless the timeline changes, we're in the mix now. Hell if we wanted to (and we shouldn't because meta-gaming is bad) we could drop everything ride for Gulltown and stab Petyr Balish to death, thus averting the War of Five Kings.
>>
>>43546804
Think he is just stating OOC reasons for why we should while there is already plenty of IC
>>
>>43546746
This does make sense, I believe her story about Oberyn and her family- BUT that doesn't mean she's not working on us. True stories can still be very effective in manipulating people.
>>
>>43546867
>I believe her story about Oberyn and her family-
Father actually confirmed that thing about Oberyn in the last thread.
>>
Allowing your son to chatter with Obella a moment longer while you chew over thoughts you think it best to speak with her more privately. It was late in the evening by now, the cool of the night having rolled in, and the sky a dark blue that matched her eyes near perfectly. Victus chats of simple things, asking her this and that, that uncanny knack of his was beyond you, you certainly didn’t have it. People seemed more inclined to immediately dislike you rather than wish to speak to your further, Dontos was even worse. If it was a family trait the only other one you ever thought to have it was Isis.

Victus yawns and you think it time to send him off for bed, “Alright Victus, time for bed. You need to scour Dontos’ armor still don’t you?”

“Yes father…”

“And you need say your prayers otherwise he’ll clout you in the ear.”

“Yeeees father.”

“Good lad, come here,” he stands and stretches, coming over and you hug him tight, Obella watching you both, “Alright now say goodnight to Lady Obella.”

“Goodnight Lady Obella, I hope to see you again.”

“Goodnight little one, do not forget my painting.”

He nods furiously again and his hair falls out of place, he leaves it and pulls his shield from your room, shutting the door quietly behind him. Lady Obella takes the initiative and rises from her seat pulling her shawl about herself, before settling onto your lap with a small dance, her head cradling onto your shoulder her lips on your neck, “That was cruel my Lord Silvershaft.”

“Yet oddly satisfying Lady Scorpion,” you respond, allowing your hand to wrap around her waist. Despite her usual intentions the position was seemingly innocent, “And I am going to pay immeasurably for it, aren’t I?”
>>
“I wouldn’t be so dramatic, but perhaps. Later.”

You sit quietly for a moment, her breath was warm upon your neck, but she did not make any movements to escalated this further, a rather different encounter with the lady that once challenged you to your own game in your own home.

“My Lord, I am curious of something,” she begins again, “Why do you care of my relationship with my brother? It is of little worth now so long as the talks do not fail, then we have succeeded in our tasks, no?”

In truth, you actually didn’t know why you were so curious. Benjin’s words constantly echoed in your head that you need find wife and have trueborn heirs. Had this little game suddenly evolved from playful encounters to a legitimate interest? She was highborn, of equal standing all things considered, perhaps…

>How do you respond to Lady Obella?
>>
>>43546804
Kill Littlefinger and you kill a member of the small council, as he was made Master of Coins already.
It would either fuck up the Realm faster as there'd be a vacuum left because of his removal and the next guy wouldn't be as good at making money, or, it would bring Karban...and that would be awesome.
>>
>>43547084
Quite honestly I hold the mind if I could take you as wife. But first would be to patch up your relationship with your brother. Besides it would give legitimacy to any movements of my house to Dorne no?
>>
>>43547084
Well I didn't KNOW it mattered little until I actually checked.
>>
>>43547096
I think at this point in time, just after Robert's Rebellion he's looking after trade in Gulltown...
>>
>>43547084
Pretty much the truth: That she keeps invading our thoughts, and we are of want of a wife.

>>43547176
Which means we want to stay the hell away. Littlefinger is bad news to everyone.
>>
>>43547176
Technically yes. But in my canon he's already Master of Coin. Because guess what, I'm dumb.
>>
>>43547084
Honestly, should we just bring it up that we are considering her to be a potential wife ?

>>43547148
Actually marriage may help that. Also bring up that it may help peace talks. That Dorne is willing to normalize relations with the Crownlands again
>>
>>43547176
No, in the quest he's already Master of Coins.
>>
>>43547208
I was talking more about "spying" on Arryn. Being we'd gives an excuse for Ravens or trips to Dorne that wouldn't really be otherwise.
>>
>>43547084
Don't offer marriage.

We haven't yet met with Giselle.

Plus it's far too early, would you marry a girl with a kid on the fourth date. And would you take them seriously afterward?

We're undertaking espionage together, hardly conducive to instant trust.

Too soon, far too soon.
>>
>>43547306
100% this. This is all going to show how much Obella isn't really a sensible choice of wife. Wow, she was polite to Victus? Giselle will be too guaranteed and we don't have to wonder if it's to manipulate us either. Obella is a poor choice of wife and even if we did want her we wouldn't bring it up now.
>>
>>43547306
Eh, its really more saying that we're evaluating her as a potential partner. Not proposing.
>>
>>43547084
I agree with the other anon. Although I'm pretty much in the Obella camp, I'd like to give Gizelle a chance first by seeing how she reacts to Victus.
>>
>>43547354
If you say that to a girl then don't pursue her what do you think is likely to happen?
>>
>>43547354
And I mean, we're an unmarried lord whose only heir is an uncle that refuses to marry, it should come as no surprise that we're basically evaluating every unmarried noble lady willing to speak to us as a potential match.
>>
>>43547344
I disagree with your assesment.
Anyway, Giselle is playing the manipulation game just as much. I feel B is on tiptoes trying to analyse her all the time. Not really the way you want to be around one of the closest people in your life.
>>
>>43547406
Scorpions in our SMALLCLOTHES!
>>
>>43547344
You should really read the interactions between Brynden and Giselle in the last thread, she is just as manipulative if not even more
>>
>>43547306
This isn't locking you into anything. Really it's Obella gathering more information if anything. Giselle is definitely of the impression you are going to/are already court(ing) her. So it's just putting them both on equal standings.

Obella has a job. She does her job well. The sudden more intimate relationship with Brynden is actually something she hadn't expected to happen at all. This may change everything for her and Prince Doran.

So in light of that, I will put it to a vote.

Funny how these things worked for you, the last person you would have expected to be a potential wife, a paramour you had gained through the machinations of a Prince in a land half a continent away. That the one sent to seduce you had done her job, only to a greater extent then she likely had realized she would. Upon your mind still sat the potential of Lady Giselle. Upon your mind still sat Lysa, and how your wanton love had lead to so much. You were hasty in your actions, but not stupid. Not in this case.

“It matters on a… Grander scale, I’d suppose” you say suddenly, leading her to sit up, placing her hand upon your chest to support herself.

“How do you mean my Lord?”

You make an odd noise, partially words, but a mixture of something else not entirely your own desires at the moment, “I would not be so brazen to propose... “

Her eyes drink in your thoughts and the word, ‘marriage?’ forms without a sound upon her lips and you nod halfway from side to side.

Before she has a moment to respond you attempt to add to less than subtle approach, “I mean, in an interested party way. Not, ‘I am madly in love with you, marry me now,’ way. You understand the position I’m in. My House is in, Constantly in my ear there are people telling me I need marry, make trueborn heirs. Be this or that. And it is a constant struggle not to find myself on ship sailing east to spite them. If… If I’m going to do this, I want it on my terms. I would evaluate every potential match. Even if they were… Unconventionally found... And just. Hells.”

Ser Mason Flowers. Part of the reason queen bitch was extra bitchy.
>>
Her voice cuts to a giggle, not girlish but more at your expense, you hadn’t ever really need talk like this. To Lysa you had woven poetry of love with your words, turned them to purpose. But here, you need be delicate of the situation, not like you were an absolute madman attempt to secure her away in your tower with her brother at your beck and call.

“So you wish to know my relationship with my brother because of marriage? Of something I may not even be interested in?” your eyes turn to confusion and she laughs again, “You are a fine lover Lord Silvershaft, but my heart is not in this. If you wish ‘evaluate’ and ‘court’ me, perhaps you should do more then sleep with me.”

She pulls herself from your lap, pressing her dress to a more suitable position, and giving you more of a proper curtsy then she ever had before, “Your interest is noted Lord Malroy. I hope you have a good evening and to see you at court tomorrow.”

And with that she leaves, you sitting confused, women apparently of late had that effect on you. The door shuts silently behind you and you pull yourself up, thinking. In court? She hadn’t made an appearance in the courts yet, so far as you were aware at least. As far as you knew she had been nothing more than a spy working in the shadows. What had your words wrought…

Your mind is singularly focused, Your bow taunt in your hand. A deep breath.

Ready. Aim. Loose.

It flies true, striking the target with exceeding ease, the crowd gives you a polite clap and you leave off for the moment, allowing the others to have their turns with the field. You had just left court for the day, not a sign of Lady Obella in the entire bloody thing, but you kept that dismay to yourself and in fact you rather enjoyed the relief of not having to immediately begin at work on her. Still there was… Options. Giselle primarily among them. Or the ever present merchant’s daughter to be said and done with it. You chuckle at the thought and see Lord Qorgyle approaching you from across the way, Ser Symon at his back, the former dressed as an archer would, a beautiful bow slung across his shoulder. It made your little recurve that had seen the horrors of war look like a peasant's tool.

“Lord Malroy! Good to see you again, I trust your leg is better?”

You stand to yoru full length, a mere inch or so taller than Lord Qorgyle and bounce on it a bit, “Much better than before, thankfully I’ve little use for it unless we will be firing with our feet today.”

“Hah! No today I believe a proper show my Lord. Not a mummers show, yes?” he says clapping you on the shoulder.

“Of course my Lord, I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The daily session of court that had been held did lead to a rather large turnout for your little contest, the pace was still absurd even for you. But Lord Qorgyle seemed suddenly daunted by it after you had counted it out.

“Since I have a one point lead in our contest, perhaps you should go first Lord Malroy?” he offers and you smile broadly allow your eyes to shine in the bright sun.

You take your position. Draw upon one of Lucas’ arrows, the dark shaft giving you a sense of luck. Deep breath.

Ready. Aim. Loose.

Seems so.

>>
Your arrow flies true. A little too far to the right for your taste but it thumps into the target with resolve, a solid 2 points to start. The crowd claps politely, a far less expressive notion then the smallfolk of King’s Landing. But bugger them, you knew you could win a pissing contest.

Lord Qorgyle takes his position, his bow is massive and he stretches it out with some degree of difficulty, his form is practiced and solid but the pace is not to his liking. He can hit a target in an arrow storm no doubt, but any man of the one hundred could lay claim to it. This was your domain, a sport, even if you used the worst bow possible for it. Perhaps to add to the humiliation. He fires, it flies true for a moment but drops dramatically before even reaching the target. You're up 2-0. The crowd laughs at his expense and you see the boiling frustration on his face as you pass by to make your next shot.

This pace almost felt like home now. If you could beat that Summer Islander, a boisterous Dornish Lord would be easy.

You draw, quickly with a flourish. The dark shaft pulling light to it in such stark contrast of the lighter surroundings. Deep breath.

Why do you think we are waiting for Illiad's brother to return? A master Bowyer who specializes in myrish crossbows, but a master Bowyer nonetheless.

Or we could just go to Kings Landing. Maybe Arryn would know somebody.
>>
>>43548522
I remember asking about the dragonbone bow after we won the archery contest and you just said it was very expensive and we needed to find a master craftsman and we never got any any options to look for one so I figured it like a quest we have to activate later or something.
>>
Success, one degree.

A shaky shot, certainly not your best ever. Your eyes had caught to something just before you loosed and it messed with your usual ritual. Lady Giselle and Ser Grover had joined those watching your little pissing match, the page in House Arryn’s colors by their side, the only time you saw that child was when Lord Arryn had need of your word. And it brought back every raging thought from the days prior. He would have your answers, but would he tell you?

The arrow had made its way to the target by the time you snap back to reality, a hit on the outer ring, a polite applause. You were up 3-0 now, but you knew it was not one of your better shots all the same. You leave off, not giving Lord Quentyn much of a look this time, your mind instead elsewhere. Watching him stretch out his bow again you realize he wasn’t particularly use to such a bow, perhaps hoping it would give him a strength advantage.

He fires his second shot and it goes low again, the crowd looks ready to begin laughing but it catches the outer ring on the very bottom, matching your point for the round, 3-1. He seems much happier for it this time, Ser Symon cheering like a fool.

You roll your neck and take your position for your final shot. Nothing fancy. Draw. Deep breath.

Ready. Aim- Bloody Hells, your eyes catch again upon another, Lady Obella, dressed in a far more ladylike way than you had ever seen before, near the end of your pace. She knows you're looking, watching you and she blows a kiss before disappearing behind a pillar into the crowd.

Focus.
Ready. Aim. Fucking, loose.

>>43548983

Regardless, we were going to get Illiad's brother as a master bowyer is what I assumed and we were waiting for him to come back.

Plus I also forgot about the dragonbone to be honest.

Point is, we were reminded, time to get on it.

Failed.

But you weren’t focused. Not in the slightest. In the past week things had become a maelstrom of anger. lust, and confusion. Isis invaded your dreams. The potential Ladies of your life your waking thoughts. You were called upon by Princes and Hands. In secret while cutthroats lie in wait after. And here you were, having a pissing contest with a Lord you had just met, to do what?

Your arrow flies up far too much, missing the target entirely, and burying itself into the wall behind it, cracked mortar giving way to the wrath you had put upon that arrow.

You leave off without a word and take a seat, waving for Lord Quentyn to take his turn as he stares you dumbfounded, the crowd as well, having taken notice of how deep you buried that arrow in stone. He shakes his head and take his position. Send it to final death, you dared him in empty thought. Your eyes turnt to wildfire in a moment. He looses his giant bow, it flies south, it hits the ground short again. The crowd hardly reacts. You win your pissing contest, 3-1.

Lord Quentyn approaches you handing his bow to his squire, “A fine game Lord Malroy. It would seem we are even.”

“Not in aim,” you reply, “I did say mine was unmatched.”

“It would appear so. Perhaps in a few days hence we will settle thing, yes? A horse race as unlikely as I thought it to come to it. Good day my Lord. Ser Symon?” he walks away his lackey in toll that dares not steal a look at you this time.

As you predicted the page comes up to you after, handing you a note and scurrying off, the crowd is disappearing as well. The note is a simple invitation to dine with the Hand tomorrow. He wished to know how you were doing in regards to your health and working on Lord Qorgyle. You fold it roughly and place it in your breast pocket, pick up your bow again and make the pace half. You thrust the arrows into the ground, one by one, circling you. And you slam every single one into the heart of the target.
>>
---

The day had dragged along yet again. You found yourself attending court, not to find Lady Obella there, though perhaps for the best as you sat in your broody silence, not even wishing to speak to Wesley or Lucas much during breakfast. Dontos had made himself sparse but was beginning to work with Victus again. At least he did that much of his duty. You find yourself climbing to Lord Arryn’s chambers without much thought towards it, only realizing you had brushed off his guards with a simple flash of the note. You knock and he allows you to enter. The Royce Knight and Ser Grover both leaving at the sight of you.

You sit, without much of a word, across from him and he gives you a heavy look upon grey eyes, gumming at his lower lip pointlessly before speaking, “Lord Malroy. Does something ail you?”

>Well? What ails you?

>What ails you?

A sellsword playing at lord, My Lord Hand. It seems that there have been many things hidden from me even in my own household, partial truths given to me so that I may jump at a bidding rather than reasoned with as a man.

I have many questions. Why has Redward allowed to stay independent, as he was my former Banner. What truly happened with my family, my sister?

It seems everywhere I go I have enemies bold and daring but allies sparse and with veiled words.

I need information my lord Hand. Information so I can act rather than languish in misery waiting and hoping like a forlorn lover for a charming rogue.

Redwards lands, military strength, current allies and affiliates. Everything on him. I can deal with the rest later. For now, all he needs for land is a six foot grave I will give him.

There’s a heat in the room. Not from the day. From you. You gelded and thrown into a corner by a Crown that was not your own. They thought to break you, stole your horses, placed debt upon you that was suffocating, ruined your name, and to top it off, they lied. Everyone, from your own family to the Spider, to the man you thought had taken you under his wing. They all lied to you. Your eyes are burning so brightly you can feel it as if the Tragedy at Summerhall had replaced them. Hopes and dreams burned in those fires, but in yours only burned a singular hatred. Of a want. For revenge.

You reach into your breast pocket, he does not move, does not expect you to be brash in your actions. You feel the dirk you kept above her braid, its metal easy to the touch, so easy. But not, you needed the soft embrace, the reminder of what you fought for. Of who, your father and mother, Donold and Pastorn, your son, the memory of a love so long ago and Isis. You remove it, gently and place it upon the table gingerly, your thumb giving it the final stroke of love before you turn your eyes to Lord Arryn again.

His own study the braid, he knows it, upon faint memory. they stir like clouds and he regards you fully.

“This is my sister’s braid.”

He pauses, then speaks, “How did you come by such a gruesome trophy?”
>>
“A little bird.”

He grimaces, he knows the meaning behind those words, “Whatever you are thinking Lord Malroy do not be-”

“What!?” you demand, you voice raising and settling back into the tone of a whisper, “Be a sellsword playing at Lord? Be brash? Lord Arryn, since I have come home I have been fed half-truths from all sources, lies from many more. Even my own blood I find I cannot trust because you and yours got to them first.

That since I have come home upon every moment I must step as if on eggshells, careful of those I might soon find to be my enemy. On every border I have armies being raised and the Crown seems impartial to it. Even those I found think my allies hide behind veiled word and false promises of aid, only if I should meet their requirements.

That the Red Bastard, my family’s bannerman, remains independent with my father’s lands under his control. And he is allowed the wanton destruction of lives from Noble to small without an eyelash even being beat. And I am told it does not matter for he is within his rights.

That someone, somewhere knows a truth that they refuse to tell me. Even my Uncle does not know its answer. My mother and father, dead. My brothers, dead. But my sister? No body. No grave. Only a gruesome war trophy that found its way to my hands.

So what ails me? What causes me turmoil? That I do not know answer to simple question.

Is. My. Sister. Alive?”

The Hand remains still during your rant, his thoughts his own, his gumming nonstop and impartial to your words. And he leans back, lacing his finger together, in quiet thought. You stew, your eyes fit to burst with flame at a moment’s notice and he finally speaks, “Yes.”

As of right now, neither of those will happen.

Jon Arryn answered truthfully because of his honor. But that virtue only extends so far in the courts of Kings Landing. Robert awarded redward the land, titles and your sister. Varys made up the string of lies. And Jon had to play along, that is why he helped you, brought you along to things, have you council. He couldn't help directly but he could aim. Now it's an entirely different ball game. He can help but in small measures and you will still need to bide your time. Which is absolutely going to kill Brynden on the inside

Given both Bryndens reputation and the personal revelation right now it's kind of warranted plus Giselle has kinda given Brynden the go ahead to do as he wishes with her and of course this would be done in private so it's hardly going to raise eyebrows on anything other than a personable level nod and even then Arryn may understand a little and the only other who would really care deeply is her brother
>>
>>43550458
I want to stick a dagger down Robert's fat craw right now.

We need to find a way to extract her from that castle and then use her testimony to say that she was coerced into the marriage by Robert and Redward. Marriage in Westeros requires consent from bride and groom by law, and I'm going to love fucking over the fat bastard. Or at least embarrassing him.
>>
>>43550346
Still tense, only a few days in still.

Both are in full courting mode.

She finds the story very sad. Like you're a sad little puppy that just needs to be taken care of. I haven't gotten to it yet but Giselle has a lovely singing voice.

Obella was taken aback to a degree, she's been doing this whole shtick for awhile and hasn't been caught out so early that the whole situation really has her on her head. There was a genuine affection in the way she interacted with Brynden there. Can't talk about the Victus thing or what she's plotting because spoilers.

>>43550438
Very confused, that he isn't being the usual overt flirty Brynden is getting her hard. And yes, I really need to do a progression scene with her.

Grover doesn't really care, he's here to do his job, Arryn does his. Between the Lords it's really too early to tell.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6USONKkgDZY

I think that we need to invest in some Elite Guerrillas.
>>
honestly I think brynden, for all his faults, once he cools down after this ordeal should thank Arryn. He's the only guy in our corner right now, even though its only out of a sense of justice.
>>
>>43550566
Calling him a big fat Hypocrite specifically when half the reason he went to war with the dragons is exactly the same reason we have now is going to be fucking golden
>>
>>43550672
>She finds the story very sad. Like you're a sad little puppy that just needs to be taken care of. I haven't gotten to it yet but Giselle has a lovely singing voice.

So she is in "I can save him!" mode then ?
>>
>>43550672
>Can't talk about the Victus thing or what she's plotting because spoilers.

Oh god. She believes the best chance to get Brynden is through Victus. She will go into full "loving stepmother"
>>
>>43550805
Yep. That's Giselle in a nutshell.

>>43550717
When I was laying out the story way back before the first thread I realized how close the situations were and decided to keep it solely for that reason. It's one of those things where Robert has become the very thing he hated.
>>
>>43550884
Speaking of Robert and Lyanna is it a known fact or a rumour?
>>
>>43548742
Why is there a +1 to the roll if it's going to be taken away?
>>
>>43550884
Would we be able to use that along with the position of Lord of the house and the fact of violent raping and mureder of the rest of our family to get the marriage annulled?
>>
Oh yeah i asked in the last thread. It seems like Obella is actively trying to get pregnant with Brynden

>>43550973
Good thing we got that laywer to help us with that now
>>
>>43550990
I think she might have stopped now that she knows we are (potentially) courting her

And no more late night hanky panky until we marry, be it Giselle or Obella.
>>
>>43550884
>Yep. That's Giselle in a nutshell.
So anon can't have Brynden vent his frustration on her then?
>>
>>43550942
It's part of the romanticized retelling of the rebellion. So Brynden knows the gist.

>>43550973
Eventually the wedding will be annulled of the right steps are taken. But this is A long dangerous game now.

>>43550990
She was. It was a bargaining chip. Now, she isn't sure.

>>43551074
I won't really comment on that much.
>>
>>43551074
Why u haet Gizelle?!?!?!?!?!
>>
>>43551133
We just need to make sure she doesn't have his kid.
>>
>>43551133
Has your group caught up and what/who do they think we should do?
>>
>>43551145
>hate

Violent abusive sex is not hateful hell I prefer Giselle Ove Obella right now I just want her degraded in the face of what is probably the angriest period we ever seen him in
>>
>>43551286
Please just shut the fuck up. Not a single person here agrees with you.
>>
>>43551286
Fuck off.
>>
It's going to be interesting to see how you guys handle the next couple of house fortune rolls and the Melee in Steadhold now. Your army is really going to beef up when you get those Knights but I'm interesting in where you'll go next.

I also wonder if this is going to mean an end to rebuilding infrastructure, ignoring the next step in rebuilding the outer ring and working on our population until the War machine stops turning.
>>
>>43551286
A prime example of why you should always jerk off before questing

>>43551305
>Abloo abloo I'm a massive pussy who can't deal with the fact someone wants what I don't
>>
>>43551356
We don't have time to make a spy network or any real infrastructure with year long build times.

Make Elite Guerrilla/Criminals and go full rescue damsel mode
>>
>>43551133
>She was. It was a bargaining chip. Now, she isn't sure.

Well they already did it once so she got a Plan B

>>43551356
Once we return to Steadhold and Illad returns we can get a overview over what is what and what to do next
>>
Iron and Hate revival in 15 minutes everyone! Who else is hype?
>>
>>43551275
They're just about all Privy to my notes right now so I can't really give their recommendations anymore. They do however say fuck off House Benedorn doesn't want to be friends. Filthy loyalists.
>>
>>43551356
What is the word about Brynden in Dorne ?

Also what is Giselle's thoughts about the whole brothel thing ? That ought to colour her view of him
>>
>>43551440
They better be friends or Robb Waters will get the belt!
>>
>>43551409
While we do that, we should also make an engineer corp. I don't care how many people Redward has, if we can get 2 catapults, he's fucked

They can destroy an entire unit in one turn, provided they aren't some high level shit. Combine that with pike blocks, and we could take his army out with a bit of work.

I'd also be for finding a way to poison his water supply or slowly kill off his men while leaving the smallfolk unharmed
>>
>>43551438
You motherfucker, I was about to go to bed
>>
>>43551515
>I'd also be for finding a way to poison his water supply or slowly kill off his men while leaving the smallfolk unharmed

>use scouts to locate his patrols and supplies stores
>use Guerrillas to take them down in hit and run tactics

Go full on Nam on them
>>
>>43551440
>Filthy loyalists.
Well, if they want to fuck a buck, that's their business.

I'd rather keep a light on for the day dragons hatch anew.

PS: Does Dontos know there are no lemon trees in Braavos?
>>
>>43551440
They just wait! Viserys will return with a glorious army and reclaim his lost throne with fire and blood!
>>
>>43551515
Anon catapults aren't cannon's they are used for fucking walls not Infantry they are damn well not worth it

>>43551482
Quiet now, he's just another Lord among man. The first day was just good for gossip and fueling fires

She disapproves. Giselle thinks if she marries Brynden she can make him a proper Lord and calm him down, but keep all the fun sellswordy stuff to herself.
>>
>>43551580
I'd look back at iron and hate's last thread where we had a war game with them. They could break a charge by elite troops easily
>>
>>43551591
>>43551543

What is hype may never die, but rises again
Hyper and stronger
>>
>>43551515
Anon. Catapults cant hit shit. Anything smaller than a boat and moving is pretty much impossible
>>
>>43551603
Aww, Giselle's a qt

Damn it Dad, stop making me want both
>>
>>43551624
Here come the armchair tacticians again.
>>
>>43551603
>She disapproves. Giselle thinks if she marries Brynden she can make him a proper Lord and calm him down, but keep all the fun sellswordy stuff to herself.

Fucking hell. She really is trying to "save/fix" the "bad boy"
>>
>>43551650
>>43551642

It's cute. I know thats a cliche and considered "bad" but I like it.
>>
>>43551650
just wait until the bad boy ''breaks'' her in
>>
>>43551603

Has Giselle been reading Harlequinn romance novels or something?

honestly we should focus efforts on building pop/wealth, then converting pop into power and wealth into infrastructure.

Then funneling power into elite tier troops and creating a military academy.
>>
>>43551603
C-cute...
>>
>>43551693
>Has Giselle been reading Harlequinn romance novels or something?

She is a young noblewoman. Reading trashy romance novels is what she spends half her time with most likely
>>
>>43551693
We don't have time for Master of Arms or Military Academy. I have no intention of waiting over a year to fuck Redward's bloody corpse.
>>
>>43551650
He even has a rough past and dynamic mood swings to make her want him more.

I ended up just really hamming up Giselle's stuff. It's cliche but fuck it, I do what I want.

One hit Disorganizes what basically amounts to a group of Kingsguards

What do you think it would do to Green Infantry?
>>
>>43551727
this is why we conduct our revenge on a personal level not on a warfare level

we teach Oberyn that a personal revenge is far more satisfying
>>
>>43551731
If Giselle was real she would be crushing on Marvel's Loki and characters like that, right ?
>>
>>43551727
I'm willing. To wait to maximize chances of success. For sure we need the spy network because information is absolutely vital.
>>
>>43551736
if it hits AND if it isn't overrun by cavalry or Infantry it can't hit for shit or if it can even be constructed in time
>>
>>43551731
so she really does want to be taken in a violent yet romantic manner!
>>
>>43551781
What do you think pike blocks are for?
>>
>>43551816
She's basically the perfect partner.

And also a total knockoff of Dalnya Redwyne
>>
>>43551781
And cavalry is pretty shit at charging into stakes, moats, spears, pike etc. again they won't exist in a vacuum.
>>
>>43551829
Anon why do you think battlefield artillery only really became a thing when cannons came about

>but muh Scorpions

different to catapults ENTIRELY

>>43551854
I honestly don't see the Investment in catapults to be worth it if we are using them on an open field instead of a siege
>>
>>43551816
But she wants the whole song and dance first. Not just a one night fling. Giselle will not give it up until marriage, she just flirts like she will.

>>43551760
Giselle is real, and yes she does.
>>
>>43551890
motherfucker so we can't take her as a mistress when we marry Obella?
>>
>>43551890
Ahahaha I knew that your player was Giselle and not Obella!
>>
>>43551843
>>43551890
>>43551912
Honestly this whole Giselle/Obella debate is ridiculous.

Neither of them are right for us. We need a Lysene merchant's daughter to give our house an infusion of valyrian characteristics.
>>
>>43551912
We're not that lucky

Unless we manage to roll all 6's for an entire thread of convincing her, it's not gonna happen
>next thread is rife with all 6's
>>
>>43551956
Well you do know a few to call.

>>43551944
Yeah but shh she doesn't know I told you guys.
>>
>>43551944
No, it's his gf. Two threads ago he said one of the two was based on her

Fucking got you now Dad, it only took us a few threads too!
>>
P U R E S T W A I F U
>>
>>43551956
Fuck it, I'd do it. Imagine all the fun we could have
>>
>>43551997
>Well you do know a few to call.
Score.

Seriously though guys, think about it. House Malroy is at a genetic bottleneck right now. Our children and our children alone will define our house forever after. If we marry a Lyseni or a Volantene - the essosi with the strongest valyrian blood - then our descendants will reflect that for decades, maybe centuries to come.
>>
>>43551956
fuck them then leave them then?
>>
You know who would had been perfect for this warfare thing ?

Garrete Brachen. He would had slaughtered Redward
>>
>>43552070
I'd prefer a closer alliance with a Westerosi House to help us properly intergrate into the political climate.
>>
>>43552120
Fuck the political climate.
>>
>>43552088
If we were Bordain we could have just marched to Redward Tower and killed his entire army by ourselves
>>
>>43552088
Garrette would absolutely loathe Brynden I'm guessing.

>>43552070
It's funny because it's an option I included Jon Longwaters and Sereya to get the thought there.
>>
>>43552174
>Garrette would absolutely loathe Brynden I'm guessing.

Oh yeah is a old haughty a staunch Lannister supporter. Really a no nonsens Lord
>>
The fact that the Littlefinger screw up makes Bordain and Malroy incompatible makes me sad.
>>
>>43552233
Just have them be in their own canon and let them interact there if you really want to. So in Bordain's quest Littlefinger is not master of coin. But Brynden is still around doing his thing.

But no cross-overs. That is just a reciepe for failure
>>
Why do i get the feeling if Brynden and Giselle marries they will just end up as Cersei and Robert ?
>>
>>43552276

...I like having a unified /tg/ Westeros setting.
Just let me imagine how the War of Five Kings would go down with Karban as Master of Coin, Littlefinger dead from getting his face punched in by Bordain for screwing with him, and Bordain as Master of Law.
>>
>>43552233
If we really wanted it to work I'm sure we could manage it. I think I'm more angry at myself for the screw up because it would have been an interesting plot line in Gulltown.

Also I think the way I use Jon Arryn messes things up way more. But then I forget a lot of how Bordain's timeline goes
>>
>>43552339
Brynden busy fucking their wives while still waiting for Dany to stop playing fucking savior in the east and come over with her dragons?
>>
>>43552340
>Also I think the way I use Jon Arryn messes things up way more. But then I forget a lot of how Bordain's timeline goes

That is why you play fast and loose with the canon. Bordain didnt do X. He merely helped or were nearby. Brynden didnt do Y but someone else did while he was in the whorehouse
>>
IRON AND HATE UP! HYPE LEVELS AT MAX!

>>43552380
>Sleeping with Alyssa
Poor Brynden, we knew him well
>>
If I ever run a GoT quest count on vyserys and dany having the patronage of the last remnants of a near extinct valyrian house, one of the scions an expert on surviving westeros.
>>
>>43552443
