To show your martial prowess you decided tllo completely remove your armor and dendrites, after that, you proceeded to deactivate most of your bionics and end with your limbs and other extensions as the only mechanical augmentations.

On your left hand stood your acidic plasma gun which had been equipped with an underpowered hydrogen fuel cell and a bulky electric resistance to further weaken it. Both components were enough to turn the mortal device into a stingy yet nonlethal weapon.

Your power sword had suffered a similar treatment. Its power cell had been removed and its surface covered with a plastic cover. Just like your gun it had been turned into something that completely neutered its lethality.

In front of you stood Nathaniella Klains, the trainer and commander of the Skitarii forces of your frigate. She was a strong woman with a somewhat high fat percentage on her body. Her entire body was covered by a suit of ceramite armor, metallic plates and some robes whose composition seemed to be made from high density fibres that could even stop small grade arms and blades. On her face there was a metallic mask that depicted a fierce lion and whose eyes seemed to glow with an unnatural light that strangely enough felt organic.
>>
>>43445888

She was equipped with a golden power fist that cracked with greenish energy and a Bolt pistol that was chained to her own armor. Nathaniella thought that you were indeed a hero and thus didn’t cock back when she loaded the first bolts inside her sacred weapon.

You had chosen an empty combat ground as the arena for the duel. Thousands of techpriests and other crewsmen were looking at you two and several servoskulls and pict-cameras were recording and transmitting it live for the great sum of people who couldn’t manage to enter inside and see it by themselves.

It was time to act. What will you do first?

>Speak, tell her that winning isn’t the objective, but showing how brave we have to be instead.
>If we find enemies they won’t hesitate. Rush and attack her with your sword before she has any time to react.
>Aim your weapon and start shooting. Make the first shoots land near her and the next one hit her chest. See how reacts to pain and stress.

"You have chosen the path of the warrior, Nathaniella. We are all warriors here, for being human is living in a constant war against what the universe throws us. Even the lowliest worker of this, our frigate, is a warrior for me. Try your best to defeat me, but sorrow not if you don't succeed. If you show me your might you are showing the might of the Omnissiah, the Emperor and the might that had driven the humans to the Stars. Show me your best, lioness, or you will disappoint me."

With a bow the combat started, and everybody, to the last one, backed off and left more space for you two to act. She seemed to have been revitalized by your speech and for an instant ceased to see you like her boss, and under her eyes you were transformed into an objective to defeat.
>>
>>43446224

Her legs changed and revealed and assortment of devices that were hidden at first. They were a set of two spheres that acted like rollerblades and a magnetic hookchain launcher that was mounted on top of her power fist.

As if she were a wild beast she sent the hook between your legs and started to use her rollerspheres to encircle you with a deadly agility and acceleration. The chain slowly started to entangle and constrain your left ankle and would soon trap the other leg too, with her free hand she was aiming her Bolt Pistol at you and surely if she hadn't shoot yet was in fear of wounding some spectator.

The moment the chain ended and you became completely entangled by it you would be both hit by the power fist and the Bolt Pistol and point blank range. You had to act fast-

>Use your Power Blade, it is deactivated and covered so it cannot cut the chain but it might be enough to stop her somehow.
>Shoot at the chain with your Plasma Pistol, it is unpowered so it won't surely break the chain but maybe its acidic properties will be able to chew the metal and cut the chain.
>Liberate yourself and try to stay on the move so you don't fall on the same trap again.
>You aren't the trapped one, she is! Grab the chain and pull it using your unnatural strength, force her to fall on the ground turn the tides on your side.

Yes we can, they are part of our limbs after all. We can use all the bionics that we cannot remove, that includes electoos too.

Our Talonspheres and her Rollerspheres are pretty much the same bionic, she has two spheres in each feet instead of one tho.

We have heelys, she has rollerblades.

>You aren't the trapped one, she is! Grab the chain and pull it using your unnatural strength, force her to fall on the ground turn the tides on your side.

The first rotation around you managed to trap your left ankle but if you aren't lucky enough the next ones will completely trap you. Still, this isn't enough to catch you. With your two arms you grab the chain and liberate yourself, after that you activate your talonspheres to spin on your own axis.

At first there is a great tug of war between her and you but then her resilience starts to fail and she commences to get dragged to your whim. Soon she is the one who is spinning and not you. Since the origin of the chain starts on her arm she isn't being entangled, but rather turned as if she had been trapped by a tornado.

It is after the fourth rotation that her legs stop touching the ground and she starts to hover due to your sheer force as you simply pull and spin. It is when you see that she is weakened enough that you simply release the chain and see how she is launched due to her own momentum towards a group of spectators. They are all thrown back but seems that none of them, not even Nathaniella is hurt.

There are some murmurs around about how irregular and intelligent your countermeasure was. You say sorry to the group of people who have acted as a human shield and they answer with responses that indicate that is fine and that they are ok.

You left her regain to her senses and stand up once again. If you had beat her down while she was helpless she wouldn't have learned any lesson and your warriors and workers would have seen you as a honourless warrior. She needed about an entire minute to regain her senses and stand up, a few people offered their help but she refused them all.
>>
>>43446896
Nathaniella wasn't physically hurt but her pride had been damaged. She was enraged, not with you, but with herself. She had gotten herself into such situation and now she wanted to show you that she wasn't as stupid as you have made her look.

She ripped the cover of her arms and revealed a pair of bionic limbs that were connected with some thick tubes that glowed with a neon blue light and had some kind of pistons on their shoulders, elbows, and in a miniaturized version in each knuckle.

The Skitarius placed her hands on the floor and the tubes changed in color, starting to glow with a orange hue, after that the pistons of her arms started activating and impacting heavily, her entire arms started to vibrate heavily and with them the floor, the people closer to her soon noticed the small quake and fell to the ground.

You have removed your Wings and your experience with the Talonspheres is limited, what will you do?

>Run while the floor is stable enough and jump into the air with the sword raised and readied to slash.
>She seems to need to touch the ground to create the vibrations, right now she is an immobile objective. Shoot her down with your plasma gun.
>Accelerate with your talonspheres and dash towards her, if the vibrations become heavy enough slid on the floor and try to kick her down.

>Question; will we ever graduate to "Master Heretek"? or at least "Advanced" or "Intermediate" Heretek?

I made a great mistake when choosing the name of the Quest. I wanted this to turn the MC into an Heretek yes, but the players proffered to go loyalist.

I cannot change the name now.

To answer your question. We aren't even Heretek, so no, we wont.

>Activate our sound dampener
It works by producing the antivibrations needed to nullify all sound in a sphere around us right? So in theory it would negate the quakes as well if it can produce sufficiently powered noise.

Worst case scenario it should at least suppress the effects enough for us to retain our balance whilst we stride over to her and commend her on her unusual style.

Probably a good thing really, don't want to inadvertently belittle her special attack to that extent, poor thing would spend a lifetime trying to regain her confidence.

>Use the sound dampener to counter her vibrations.

Sound, is just energy in the form of vibrations that travels without a physical vessel across a physical channel, be it solid, gaseous, or liquid. Without the channel the energy cannot simply travel. That's why there is no sound in space.

As you run towards her you activate your noise dampener, who seems to conflict with her own attack. It's activation generates a great noise that increase her shockwaves for a second and send a group of observes to the ground, both because the unexpected noise and the sudden vibration.

Still, after that nothing comes. Your bionic completely nullifies any sound, and thus any vibration. Nathaniella doesn't seems to notice it at first but after she understands that you are advancing towards her without any trouble she enters into a state of panic and increases the strength of her pistons until they are at their limit. From some small exhausts placed on her arms and back smoke, sparks and the occasional flame appeared. She was overcharging the engine that powered her quake creating augmentations but it was hopeless.

She was now only a few inches from you, her body all tensed. The Skitarius was scared and surprised, she was surely exhausted and thinking of a million ways to defeat you.

>Grab her by the Robes and pull her to her feet

When you reach her side she is shivering, not because of the quakes, but fear of failure. You grab her by the neck of her robes and see her squirm inside of her armor as you lift her, surely thinking that you would now take advantage and punch her repeatedly.

Instead deactivated the Noise Dampener and with it off the vibrations returned to work, since her fingers weren't touching anything these vibrations weren't being transmitted, and thus didn't affected you at all. To her surprise instead of assaulting her you said some complimenting words.

"I see that you like to use the environment as your advantage, you trap your enemies and try to make them lose their balance if it doesn't works. Your warriors are the backbone of my army and I bet that with you leading them and using your groundshock powers you will be able to defeat waves and waves of enemies. I would have been completely affected and crippled if it weren't for my Noise Dampener. I have been just lucky, you did well."

Then you placed her on the ground and returned to the same spot as you were before, a distance of about seven feet separating you two.

"We are devoted to the machine god, machines will continue working until they cannot go anymore, regular humans might try to stray from conflict if they are exhausted or damaged enough but we have been blessed by the vision of the Omnissiah and we know that exhaustion just means that we require more fuel and missing a limb is just an opportunity to further improve ourselves and become closer to the machines that we admire and honor. Keep fighting, keep fighting until I order the contrary or you cannot go anymore."

Several cheers formed around you, specially coming from the more augmented and zealous members of the Mechanicus.

Nathaniella readied herself and got in her full combat regalia once more, with her hands equipped with the Power Fist and the Bolt Pistol.

>Her weapons lose effectiveness at very close range, try to get close to her and grapple her down.

>Use your Plasma Gun to shoot her weapons out of her hands. Prove her that weapons are just an extension of oneself, and thus one must be wary and conscious that they can be a key to victory but that we cannot depend on them.

You get the plasma gun and aim at her. The moment she understands the situation she starts to use her rollerspheres to move in circular and stray lines that are hard to follow and track. Your underpowered plasma bolts fly close to her and in one occasion manage to bust a hole on her robe but are in general not close enough to actually hit any part of her body.

As if she were a lighting bolt she manages to get to your position and places the barrel of her Bolt Pistol on the side of your head, then releases the trigger. The explosion made your cochlear implants go crazy and turned all into a blurry mess, for some time all you could see was a painful buzzing in your ears and noticed a heat increase in where the shoot had been.

While you were disorientated she took advantage and threw a punch directly at the base of your stomach. It wasn't enough to take you down but it was painful indeed. You screamed, which further increased the pain on your ears, it then all ended developing into a small migraine that made you be further pained.

It couldn't be, she had dared to shoot a Bolter round at point blank range, she had somehow missed but if she didn't she would have completely destroyed your head. Not even your metallic cranium would have been able to stop that holy bolt.
>>
>>43448296

Weakly you looked back and noticed a red splat on the ceiling, was it blood? Slowly your vision started to heal and you discovered that no, it wasn't blood, but paint. She was using training rounds with you, they might not be using real ammunition but still those bolts still used the same charges as regular ones.

You looked at Nathaniella and saw her proudly smiling as she blew the smoke that the barrel of his gun was spewing. She had planned this, she didn't missed the headshot, she knew that the own kickback of the pistol would be a good way to leaving you incapacitated and then she used her chance to hit you with her unpowered power fist.

A small sensation came from your ears, you softly touched them and noticed drops of blood, she had gotten the first blood, so far she was winning.

"Well done, you are now stronger than you were before, you have made the Omnissiah and I proud, but this isn't over, my scion."

You placed the Plasma Gun on your belt and grabbed your power sword with both hands. As if it were a challenge she also left her Bolt Pistol and decided to only use her power fist, still, she gave it a twist, and made her entire arms tremble with the power of the quake producing engine, on top of that the fist started to spin, becoming into a drill of some sort. Luckily for you it still had its disruption field deactivated. The mixed strength of the spinning fist and the quake arms made the entire arm look somewhat blurry from how powerful it was. You had your own cards under your robotic sleeves too and soon your wrists started to vibrate and your sword turned into a percussion induced weapon, able to hit several times per second without losing any force.

With her rollerspheres Nathaniella was be able to encircle you and follow strange patterns to try to attack you by surprise but still, her wheels required kinetic energy to fully give her the acceleration that she needed. Each of her attacks ended in a straight dash that you could easily predict and block. Since her wheels aren't connected to any engine you are capable of not only blocking her, but also pushing her back. Each time you aggressively push her further and further, which in turn gives her more distance to dash and a stronger energy to impact with.
.
>>
>>43448895

She is starting to get frustrated, all her attacks are stopped, and not even increasing the force is enough, the frustration blocks her mind and only urges her to attack harder each time. At the end, the circle that once surrounded you turned into a corridor of some sort. Nathaniella hit you over and over and no matter what you always blocked her spinning fist with your blade and sent a shower of sparks to the viewers before returning her with a great strength.

At the end, the critical point was reached, you pushed her back with such force that she hit the wall at the end of the room, she cannot go further backwards, completely resentful she decides to hit you with all she has. Her fist spins so fast that it starts to get red hot from the friction and several sparks and flames start to pour from her junctures. As she dashes towards you while screaming your name several blue flames from on the exhausts of her back and for an instant she is completely engulfed in fire, making her look like a phoenix of some sort. There is no point on pushing her back anymore, she had reached her critical point, it was now the time to act.

Instead of simply parring her attack you opted for using your superior strength and dimensions to grab her and use her own momentum to throw her back. The moment of the impact you placed your vibrating blade against her spinning fist, a great shockwave formed and a some flames fly from her fist and fell on the ground, burning everything they touch, it seems that there is some leakage on the fists fuel deposit and that it has gotten on fire.
>>
>>43448918
After noticing the fire you decide to quickly move swiftly out of her path and remove the cover of your sword, then with a straight cut you cleavage the power fist and part of her arm, an instant after that you grab Nathaniella and use her own existing acceleration to throw her up in the air.

Over the group of men two objects float for an instant, one is Nathaniella, who is still on fire and starting to get conscious of the danger she was in, the other is the the power fist, who still carries part of Nathaniella's arm inside and is still on fire. One of the two didn't managed to hit the ground.

The Damage of the power arm was so great that it exploded in mid air, some people were lightly damaged by the shrapnel but none were truly wounded.

Somehow you didn't only won but also became a hero, as you had saved her life and the life of some specters that could have been affected by the explosion that you had diverted.

Everybody cheered you and tried to get close to be witness of what had just happened but you stopped them all and told them to back off. You had to get sure that she was alright, you had removed one of her arms after all.

"Nathaniella? Are you alright?"

She was on the floor, smoke coming from her body, she was somewhat burnt but her skin seemed to be undamaged.

"Ngghh" She managed to grunt as she slowly came back to her senses.

"If it is of any consolidation. I have lost many, many arms."

You gave her your arm and with the only hand that she had left she managed to stand up.

"Get some servitors here and take her to the Infirmarium. Everybody return to your duties. The fight is over."

A medical servitor came, it was two fused bodies that were united one in front of the other as if they were two people waiting in line. All their movements were synchronous and they walked with some eerie looking calculation, when they got next to Nathaniella they separated and revealed in between them a folded cloth that tensed once they were spread enough and became a stretcher. With the help of a Magos Biologis and some attendants they placed her and proceeded with her transport.

You followed her and also decided to use the time to meet the Biologis, you have only meet the militaristic branch of the men under your command.

"Greetings, I am Heracor Nahive, current leader of this vessel, the Lux in Tenebris."

"Current and first I see. It is good to have you as a host in this great travelling body. I am Oronn Revanor, I am delighted to see that not even an entire day after starting to travel we already have one patient on the infirmary. Do you usually fight and wound your own men, if you do, you and I will become very close friends..."

It was impossible to know if it was a male or a female with a simple look. It was a greatly hunched figure whose entire face was composed of circular lens of several colors and diameters that independently looked and changed in angle as if they were the eyes of a snail. All the tips of its fingers had been exchanged for several medical tools, in which needles were the most predominant, these needle fingers were full of strange fluids that were connected to thin plastic tubes, some of which were connected to external canisters while others dug deep into its pale and veiny skin and filled it with those exotic substances. On top of that he was followed by a retinue of servoskulls that carried blood bags and other serums that were also pumped into his system or carried strange analyzers that depicted its heartbeat or other strange parameters.
>>
>>43449409

Surprisingly enough even if it looked completely decrepit and more dead than alive it was able to move with surprising agility as if it were a youngster that had just reached its puberty.

Slowly, Nathaniella managed to come back to herself.

"Where I am?"

"You were hurt, I am taking you to the Infirmary. You did very well, I have very rarely seen people fight as fiercely as you did. I am very proud of you."

She then smiled and rested on the stretcher.

"Why do you ask that about me fighting my own men?"

"Ooooh" It answered with its strange nonhuman and raspy voice "Machines have secrets, humans have secrets too. Machine have manuals, humans have manuals. Human manuals are hidden, you have to know how to read them. Each patient that has been under my ward has been completely studied, in case there is something extraordinary about them, I extract a sample and try to recreate such chemical compound, then as its sole creator and thus rightful owner I use it on myself. Humans are machines, flawed ones. I just read in the manual how to fix what is broken. Carry me more patients and I will discover more secrets..."

>Ignore it. Its just an old deranged man. Get some people to keep an eye in case he goes full crazy. Continue checking on Nathaniella.
>Order it to show you all the secrets that it has unveiled or threaten with destroying it all. Those chemicals could become a way of further improving your warriors and yourself.
>Now that you see that she's alright you can go and do something else ( Write in )

"Haven't you heard me? Oneself must know what the human manual says, for otherwise nothing but an undecipherable text will be seen. Maybe your ear genes aren't good, or is it your comprehension node that cannot truly understand what I say? Flawed, flawed like every one... You would have to study my teachings to know what do they say. You are a warrior, a destroyer, not a healer. Keep away from my work."

You became pretty mad about how it spoke to you, maybe it was the one with comprehension problems. Didn't it knew that you were its superior?

"Speak to me with property old man, for I am the leader of this vessel."

"And what will you do to me? Kill me? Go on, do it and see how your dear girl doesn't recovers, see how any infection or disease spreads among these walls. Who do you think that got all those bionics on your body? It was a Biologis like me! You cannot kill me, if anything send me and my men to some port and get other crewsmen. Go on, find a place to land me on and spend a great sum on other Magos Biologis!!"

It then accelerated and disappeared among the many halls and corridors that conformed the Medicae Bay of the ship while guffawing like the madman that it was. You would have to deal with it somehow or simply try to ignore its strange methods and infuriating attitude.

You looked at some wall clock and noticed that it was starting to get late. A distant siren was heard indicating that the ship's schola was over and that all the techpriests had to return to their shared rooms and do their homework or rest.

People would continue working all day, the workshifts never had to stop, for we were the grease that maintained this ship running smoothly. Now that you had relaxed your body you noticed how tired you were. It was time to rest for today.

>Go to your own room and sleep.
>Get some chair and spend the night on Nathaniella's hospital room.
>Go to the forges and ask for a recorder servoskull, maybe you should record a diary for Alaria...if you die it could become the last thing she has to remember you.
>Go to the command bridge and observe how it flies, rest on the chair and sleep lightly, ready to wake up at any time if anything happens.

Trading video diaries, it gives the techpriest a lot of characterization and humanity. Stuff which is sorely lacking overall from the 40K universe

Now that you know that she is out of danger you manage to achieve a relaxed pace and with it you descended into the forges that no matter the time of the day always looked bright and alive. People there worked mostly by forging the tools and pieces that were needed to maintain the many weapons and machines that lived on the ship. In there they also created the necessary chemicals that could range from simple toilet cleaners to highly advanced drugs that were required for certain operations or human/augmentation interaction.

Most workers were so focused that they didn't even noticed your presence entering into those chambers but the few ones who did bowed to your presence or simply ended in shock. You weren't a stranger to such place, the heat and the noise made you feel completely at home.

First thing you did was to locate a datalog terminal and logging in. It would let you access into the different registries and easily find the most suitable techpriest. It didn't took you long to find it, Etheria Accontas, a female techprietess that was highly specialized in servoskulls. You sent her the work order and then started to return to the command bridge. In about two or three days you would receive your servoskull.

After doing the journey back to the upper levels of the ship you plunged yourself into your seat and rested your back. Everybody around you was working an analyzing data, among them there was Campiní Secondo, the leader of the pilots and a steady helper for the planetary navegatiors.

You now had to take a well deserved rest. Slowly you descended into the REM-less sleep in which any disturbance awakened you, making you wake up several times because people have made a strange noise, be it a irregular machine blip or someone coughing.

I'll end it for today. I'm pretty tired and is almost midnight in this part of Terra. As always about 30 minutes for questions and the like before I go to sleep.
