Giles, Master Thief, lover extraordinaire, and professional father is no more.

His job led him to a place where he met a beautiful, cheery little girl and her confused, yet loving mother. And for them, he gave his life.

A world that was to be given to order or chaos was left reeling by his sacrifice. Now Angels and Demons battle all across the globe to decide who will take this new world.

Whether it be the forces of order or chaos that win, the outcome looks bleak for anyone who calls this world their home...

Until the wish of a little girl who missed her father brought a new force to the surface.

Now the elemental forces of the world itself rise to protect it. Given form by the names of a nameless man, the Master Thieves have joined the battle.

"You do not belong here" You tell the Angels once more.

"This world is ours" The chorus says. For it is as a chorus that they must speak. The lone Angel can only scream, but together they harmonize to form the speech you hear.

"The world was yours" You say. "You squandered it to simple things"
"The desire for perfection is no simple thing-" The Angel's Master calls.

You roll your eyes and tune the God-like creature out. You have neither the time nor the patience for such things.

You hurl a boulder towards the Angel's Lord, and the porcelain creatures form up to defend him.

Their master continues speaking, unfazed by your attack. The Angels keep their line around him...

You stomp the pillar of earth that holds you at their level, and it shatters. The rocks, both big and small, fly towards your target.

The Angels hold their formation well, but unfortunately for them the formation doesn't hold. Against the barrage of fast moving chunks of earth, the defending Angels are battered left and right. By the time it's over, only their Master remains.

"You killed them" He says.
"They were repulsive" You say.
"They were my chidlren" He says.
"You're repulsive too" You say.

"Why do you deny me so?" He asks.
You shrug, and reach into the ground. The others are talkers, you're not.

You grab a handful of earth and pull it up as a semi-humanoid form. As you do, the remnants of your barrage all take forms and stand as well. Some of them are human, some of them are different.

Fate flares with anger, and a new flight of Angels descends from the sky. You get the feeling that he's got a billion of those things up there.

What a pain in the ass. As much as you'd love to spend all night chucking rocks at these ugly things, time is not a luxury that you have.

But if you want to finish this anytime soon, you'll need a hand...

You step out of the air that you were born from, up in the skies above Analask.

Below you the city is under attack by Angels, Demons, and their masters: Fate and Cassandra.

Also below are your brothers, the Gambler and the Brute. They fight against your other, older siblings. Even from here you can see that it is a stalemate...

But the flow of battle is a light thing. All it would take is a gentle breeze to blow it one way or the other...

So you descend from the lofty heights as a new being, and elemental. You take the name that suits the winds most: The Sparrow. Wind is a force to be reckoned with at its worst, but it much prefers to flow on in its carefree ways.

But the fun times must be won, it seems. So you turn towards-

You turn towards the Brute as you hasten your descent. You dark green cloak flaps in the wind, and you have to hold on to your hat.

How strange that a wind elemental would have a hat. Are you to spend half of your time holding on to it?
At least you won't have to worry about losing your legs, as you don't seem to have any. Instead you have these weird whirlwind looking things.

You like them. Very stylish. You're glad you noticed that now, though. Trying to land without legs would have been awkward.

You start to spin as you approach the flight of Angels, creating a nice big twister in your wake. You zip through the Angel's lines and come to a stop next to your brother as your tailwind batters and ruins the Angel's formation.

You brother's much heavier children, and the projectiles from them, are less affected by your arrival.

"Good evening brother" You say.
"I've seen better" He replies.
"No you haven't" You say.
He shrugs. "I feel like there's been better" He says.

You twirl and rise up and away from the ground. "I love it, personally. This must be a wonderful time of year... uhh..." You stop, and single out one of the people in the crowd. "What time of year is it?"

"It's getting near winter" They say, completely terrified of you.
"Winter! Yes! I love it!" You say.
"Are you going to keep talking or-" The Brute begins.

"Sorry, I got a little carried away there" You say. "Let us begin"

You burst into action, whipping back through the Angel's ranks towards their Master. The Angels are once again buffeted by the wind, but this is no simple gust.

Hidden within are blades of void, that shred through the strange fleshlike material that makes up these creatures. Though the blades strike him, Fate remains unscathed...

He does move though, yielding ground-... err... air to you, as you inch him ever closer to the Palace...

That would make a nice place to do this. The Gambler is already fighting Cassandra at its gates. If you can move Fate over there as well, then you can focus them where all of you can fight as one.

The Brute catches your idea, and he seems to like it.

The Angels and their master don't, as they muster themselves into a wedge and glide towards you.

The Brute stomps the ground, and a wall of earth rises between the Angels and you.

The centre or the wall begins to heat up, as they focus their fire on it. After a few seconds the wall explodes, but you're both ready.

The bits of the wall that fly towards you turn and fly right back at the Angels, backed up by rocks and boulders hurled by the Brute's children.

The rocks mingle with the wind, moving chaotically on the strange currents that you create and becoming impossible to dodge for creatures so used to order.

Behind the boulders comes a wave of blades, and after that you begin to send your own children through. Born of the wind and with its spirit at their heart, they dance and twirl around the angels and the rocks. Harmless at one moment, they choose when to become deadly whenever they so please.

The Angels and their Master continue to be pushed back, unable to keep up with an assault of the air and the sky...

A carefree smile stretches across your face as you dance with your children. All you need now is to complete the crew...

You step out of the light you were born from, in a room somewhere in the Royal palace.

There are 2 people in here. One is a young lady with brown hair and brown eyes, who is trying to calm a younger lady with blond hair, blue eyes, and a crown.

The older of the two looks confused by your sudden appearance, the younger one beams you with a big smile and jumps at you.

"Daddy!" She says, hitting you with all the force she can muster and wrapping her little arms around your waist.
"Giles?" The older one asks. "But you..."

"I am not Giles" You state plainly.
"But you... who are you then?" The older asks.

Good question, and a novel idea. You need a name, so you take the one that suits the light most: The Buyer. The light is a kind thing, granting the illumination needed to see the truth. But the truth is not a kind thing.

"I am the Buyer" You say.
"You're not daddy?" The little one asks, as she releases her grip on you and slides back to her feet.
"I am not" You say.

"But... the glowy lady said that daddy was coming back..." She says. The crown on her head glows, and her eyes do as well. The glow subsides and she gets an angry, determined look. Then she storms out of the room.

That girl seemed important somehow... but you don't think she's more important than the conflict your brothers are currently engaged in.

Flying all around the Palace are Angels. They watch the windows and doors relentlessly, ready to pick off anyone that dares to show their face...

You pop the window open, and a myriad of beams all point in your direction...

So, Gambler was easy going and polite, the Brute was blunt and determined, The Sparrow was carefree and cheerful, and Buyer, so far seems like the 'boring, but responsible' brother.

Shooting beams of light at a light elemental is a very bad idea. Perhaps the next angels you meet won't be quite so daft.

You collect their energy in your hand, and mete out just enough back to each of them to melt them. That leaves enough for you to use use for whatever else you might need.

The night outside is dark, and sources of light are few and far between. You need to be careful how you use this.

Or you could just head down to the Gambler and snag light from his fire. That works too.

You zip down to the bridge, where your brother is battling it out with your older sister.

"Hello brother" You say.
"About time you showed up" The Gambler says. "Here to help?"
"If you need it" The Gambler says.
The Gambler looks around and shrugs. "I could go a little longer" He says.
"Well good news then: You don't have to" You say. "Mind if I borrow a light?"
"Take what you need, the fire's going strong" The Gambler says.

"There are more of you?" Cassandra asks.
"Absolutely" You say.
"How many more?" She asks.
"At least 2" You reply.

The Gambler and his children rip through the oncoming Demons with all the fury of the flame. You however, stumble on your attack and accidentally let loose all of the energy you stored from the Angels.

To save what you can, you give it form and create the first of your children. That wasn't so bad, and now that you've got the hang of it...

Light elementals burst forth from all of the different fire elementals, effectively doubling your force. With your armies combined, you push your sister and her Demon hordes back and away from the Palace,

At the same time, Fate and his Angels arrive. Having been pushed here by The Sparrow and The Brute.

"Brother" Cassandra says.
"Sister" Fate says.
"I believe these upstarts mean to depose us" Cassandra says.
"I believe they do" Fate says.

"I say we put our little feud on hold for the time being" She says.
"A sound plan" Fate replies.

Both Angel and Demon switch gears and begin to attack as one. Even with all 4 of you, it is difficult to hold them at bay...

But there will not be 4 of you for long...

You step out of the water you were born from, in the seas around Analask.

Some blight from the seafloor, that was left to wait.

But the water is your realm, and you do not welcome these intruders.

You take the name that suits water most: The Riddler. For mystery hides in the cryptic deep, and it does not give up its trophies with ease.

Pressure from the deep,
Push this lingering creature into its sleep.

You summon the weight of the water, bringing it down on the leviathan's head. It is a flimsy construction, one that easily crushes under the unrelenting depth.

You pulverize the miserable creature and return to the surface, hopping out of the water and onto one of the many boats for some ground to stand on. You feel more comfortable under the water, but it's difficult to get your bearings down there...

"Giles?" A woman asks.

You turn to see a girl with fiery red hair,
Though in naming you she did sorely err.

"I am not" You say to her.

"Ah! Riddler! Come join us!" The Sparrow says as he gleefully glides through the air.

Wherever the tendrils touch, they leave puddles. The puddles grow into beings of their own, and begin to fight for themselves. They join their cousins and brothers, creating a wonderfully colourful battlefield.

But something is missing...

"Are we missing one?" You ask.

Hey, we rolled well for all of these guys, so far, surely you can factor that into it?
>>
You call your children out of the shadows, and they attack in unison with the children of your brothers.

The relentless tide of Angels and Demons relents, and is pushed back. The gods of oreder and chaos look very nervous indeed.

But it is neither you, your brothers, nor your spawn that gets the first hit in on them.

A small rock flies in at them from the bridge. Then another, and another.

"What the hell?" Several of you ask.

You all turn to see a little girl, one with big blue eyes and long blond hair. Her face is streaked with tears and creased with anger, and now that she has everyone's attention...

"Give my daddy back!" She yells.

Another girl, this time with brown hair, comes up to the little one's side. She looks terrified of all of you, where the little one doesn't. "Selene, let it be... come back inside before-"

"NO" The little girl shouts, as the tears run freely down her face. "They- they took him away! I want him back!"

An arrow flies at the gods from further down the bridge, loosed by yet another woman. This one has short black hair, and the same blue eyes.

"I concur" She says. "You two have long overstayed your welcome here, and you've taken far too much"

"You dare-"
"I want Giles back" The black haired girl says, knocking another arrow as though it was an ultimatum.

>[1/2]
>>
Laura stared at the pair of gods with death in her eyes. She was so tired, but she had to keep going.

Cassandra cackles at her ultimatum, and a strange magic pulses from her.

"Then I remove the curse of namelessness from that child, that he may be bound in body and soul to this earth" Cassandra says. "As one, final act of spite"

Laura was confused, until the strange magical imposters wearing Giles's face began to lose their form.

"Well, that's interesting" The one in yellow says.

The visage of her lover peels away from each of them, revealing the raw elemental power that lay underneath.

In between all of them, there is a bright flash of light. As it dims, Laura is hopeful... but there is nothing there...

Cassandra's energy leaves her. "I was hoping that would work..." She says. "It seems like the shell was just that: a shell"
"What do you mean, sister?" Fate asks.

Cassandra is silent. "I am returning to my realm" She says. "This world rejects us"
"You are giving up?" Fate asks.
"Yeah, hold it! We aren't finished with you yet!" The Fire shouts.

Cassandra flares with energy again. "Do not pressure me, child. It is well within my power to wage a war that would leave this earth a scorched husk, where naught could live but ASH" She shouts. "But that would be a waste of all of our time"
"So we are to leave this realm?" Fate asks.
"It is for the best" Cassandra says. "This world no longer recognizes us as its lord and lady"

Hearing these bastards talk so non-chalantly about these things makes Laura's blood boil.

She looses her arrow.

"You're giving up?" She asks. "After all the pain and suffering you two have caused. That's it? 'woops, sorry about all the death and the misery. Our bad, we'll just go home now' is all you've got?"

Laura fumes. Fate took her parents. Fate tried to take her future. Fate tried to take her daughter. Fate gave her childhood to a RAPIST so she could have a daughter, just so she could die.

"You're not leaving" Laura says. "You're getting the boot. Get out. This world doesn't want or need either of you, and don't let the door hit you on the way out"

Fate pulls the arrow out of its head, and looks to its sister. "Yes, perhaps this world does no longer accomodate us" It says.
"And give back my DADDY!" Selene shouts.

Cassandra smiles knowingly, and then she disappears. Shortly after, Fate, the Angels, and the Demons follow suit.

Laura catches her breath.

"Wait!" Selene shouts, as she runs out to where they disappeared. "What about daddy?"

Laura follows her daughter out, and scoops her up.

Selene begins to cry again. "Mommy... wh-what about daddy?" She asks Laura.
"I-" Laura begins, but the words catch. She tries to hold back the tears, but she's simply too tired to fight it anymore.

She falls to her knees, and hugs her little girl as tightly as she can. And she cries.

>1 year later...

Laura leans on the table and rubs her temple with one hand. She is well aware of the attention that she is garnering.

She hates it.

"I am going to put an arrow into Uncle Julian" She says.
Marcella chuckles. "Whereabouts?" She asks.
Laura purses her lips. "I dunno... somewhere painful, yet non-lethal" She says.

"Relax, you know he means well" Marcella says.
"If he meant well, he'd-"
"Let you keep waiting... I know" Marcella says. "It's been a whole year, maybe it's time..."

"To give up?" Laura asks.
"Not give up... but just... stop putting your life on hold" Marcella says. "Giles wouldn't want you to be alone"

"I'm not alone" Laura says. "I have all that I need, and gods be damned I do NOT want to dance with any of these lugs!"

"Well... I have some bad news for you" Marcella says.
"Uncle is waving to me, isn't he?" Laura asks.
"King Julian is indeed waving to you" Marcella replies.

Laura groans and hangs her head. "Think I could get away with what Melissa did and just dance with a girl?" She asks.
"I think Melissa is the only one who could get away with that. Everyone is far too intimidated to say anything after she thrashed those pirates" Marcella says.

Laura relents, and stands up. "I killed a dragon, doesn't that count for anything?" Laura asks.
"You'd think that..." Marcella replies.

Laura sighs, and gives her dress a twist as she shifts into a more ladylike posture. "How do I look?" Laura asks.
"Like you're faking it" Marcella says. "But I know you well enough to tell"
Laura gives her Guardian a strained smile, and turns to face her Uncle.

"Good Luck" Marcella says. She doesn't catch the response.

>[1/2]
>>
"So you're..."
"Desmond is our army's rising star" King Julian stated proudly. "He's a man after your own father, and were he still around today he'd say the same"

Laura bit back her gut response of not bringing up her Father's tastes. Her Father had been the one who wanted to marry her off to... him...

But Laura couldn't say that out loud, so she simply smiled and laughed and said something dainty. She'd been going through the motions for a good 5 minutes now, and it was starting to grind on her.

None of these people knew her even half as well as they should. They all wanted to be close to her so they could be close to Laust.

The times are interesting. With the rise of the Elementals the world is changing rapidly, and Laust is in the front seat. Nobody knows that it's because of Selene that the country enjoys this prosperity. As she gave the first Elementals their form, the strange beings seem to... like her.

But for every person demanding an audience to buddy up, there are 2 more demanding reparations. The battle between the Angels, the Demons, and the Elementals lasted only one night, but the damage it caused was massive. Many blame Laust for what happened and while most of those can be pushed aside, a good portion of them are actually in a position to make such demands.

The problem is that they're asking for money that Laust doesn't have. Several time people have asked that Laura open up Giles's old cloak to get what she needs, but it never feels right. If Giles comes back, she doesn't want him to come back to-

Hold on. Stop that thought right there.

>[2/?]
>>
Just when did it become an 'if'? For the longest time Laura held so firmly to the belief that he'd return, so where did this 'if' come from? It's a subtle change, but a drastic one.

If a year is what it took for a 'when' to become an 'if'... how long until she gives up? How long will it be before she stops hoping, and these jibbering yes-men start to look appealing?

Laura feels a knot forming in her throat, as the suitors her Uncle brought begin to ask if she'd like to dance... Oh gods... she can't do this...

Laura steps back and considers retreating to her chambers. Maybe if she told them she wasn't feeling well... or-

A shout draws her attention to a man who has slithered his way through the crowd. She turns to face him, her heart fluttering with hope.

Laura gasps, and tears start to form in her eyes.

OH FUCK ITS RODRICK
>>
>Earlier that day...

"Well damn" the thief says. "This happened while I wasn't paying attention"

He looks at the collapsed passageway before him and hums to himself. He had hoped to get in this way, since getting in without being seen will not work at the front gate. It was hard enough getting into and through the city without getting recognized...

He bends down and pats the earth. "I don't suppose you'd be willing to lend a hand, would you?" he asks.

The earth grumbles in response, and the blockage lifts.

"Thank you" He says.

The earth grumbles once more. It's not an angry grumble, by any means. The thief is pretty sure it means 'you're welcome' in earth elemental.

He's not quite sure why, but these strange new beings seem to like him. When he appeared in the middle of who-the-fuck-knows-where a year ago, with nothing but the clothes on his back and the sword on his belt, it was only with the help of these 'elementals' that he managed to get by.

But now he's back, and it's time for business.

The thief continues down the passageway, and further towards his goal...

>[4/?]
>>
The word is that there's quite the get together going on tonight. An anniversary celebration of the end of the war, and fate's reign, and the Demon/Angel crisis that started this whole elemental thing...

So... it's a celebration of the Thief and his accomplishments, and no one thought to send him an invite. He finds that very rude indeed, which is why he is going to crash this little party.

The Thief pads silently through the hallways of the palace, making his way to a spot where he can hide out for the day, and prepare for the event. All he has to do is avoid dete-

"Daddy?" Someone calls.

So much for that. He turns around, and to his face comes a smile.

"It's you right?" Selene asks. "You're daddy right?"
He smiles a little wider, and opens his arms.

Selene breaks into a run, and the Thief lifts her up and spins her around.

"You miss me?" He asks.
The little one cries. "Everybody kept sayin' you were dead!" She says. "But mommy an' me knew!"

The Thief gives the little one a kiss on the cheek.
"Why did you wait so long to come back?" Selene asks.
"Hoo boy... is that ever a story..." You say.

"Wait!" Selene says. "Laura's over that way! You should tell her too!"
The Thief smiles. "Not just yet" He says.

Then he tells the Little Princess his plan...

The Thief sits at the back of the hall with his hat pulled cleverly over his eyes. Out of sight, out of mind, he waits for the opportunity to strike...

Selene quietly creeps back to him from the crowd, being careful not to draw attention back here. "Are you going now?" She asks for the 17th time.
"Not juuust yet" The Thief says.

He keeps his eye on the Princess, who is currently surrounded by nobles and soldiers of all stripes. She puts on the 'pleasant' act and while the men she's with don't see it, the Thief spots it from a mile away.

Then something goes wrong. She takes a step back, and starts to look distraught.

"Now?" Selene asks.
"Now" The Thief says. "Wish me luck"
Selene gives him a thumbs up, and he moves swiftly to where his mark stands.

The Thief cuts through the crowd, and approaches the Princess from the side. He clears his throat, and calls out.

“Oh, beauteous Lady Laura!” He calls out, bending into an exaggerated bow and extending his hand. "Would you honour me w-"

He doesn't manage to finish his sentence, as the lovely princess decides to cut it short with a kiss.
"Giles" She says. "It's really you, right?"
He smiles. "In the flesh"

The princess kisses him again, and this time they both get into it. From somewhere in the back of the crowd, a cheer erupts. The Thief definitely recognizes the voice of his sister among them...

When they break, Selene bursts through the crowd and jumps up to them.

"Are you... staying?" Laura asks.
"Definitely" Giles replies. "So?"
"So?" Laura asks.
"Yes or no to that dance?" He asks.
"Absolutely" Laura says.

Selene, drops to the floor and backs off, watching her parents with glee.

"Sorry boys" Giles says to the crowd. "I'm gonna have to steal the lady for a bit"

And that's all for this quest!

It feels like so long ago that Giles walked into the castle on a fake premise to steal a Crown. It's been a long ride, admittedly longer than I probably should have made it; but it's come to its end now.

Blood Moon will resume some time this week.

Feel free to ask me anything about this quest tonight.

>>43326663
Funny enough, I actually named the king and queen of Laust after Freddie Mercury (Frederica and Mercutius)

From a quest about a thief stealing a crown, to massive battle between Elementals, Angels, and Demons...

It's been one helluva ride.

The elementals are just about everywhere now, but the master elementals are a fair bit more enigmatic.

If I was more ambitious about this, I'd probably run something short involving this new world that's been created. But 'short' for me is apparently about 57 threads, so probably not...

Thanks for the quest, Smiley! It has been a little tough following Blood moon, due to the scheduling, but this has been grand.
