You and Goku prepare breakfast, Raditz outside your home attempting to practice. The smell of food cooking brings him in, though he's a bit taken back by the sight. "Not many Saiyans would care about cooking skills beyond the basics, what's needed for survival. Yet here you are, Kakarot-"

"Goku." you correct him again, getting Peppa and Gohan their meals, some nice, warm oatmeal. Your daughter immediately tries to make a mess with it, to her brother's amusement.

"...cooking with your..." Raditz looks at you uneasily. "Wife. It's so... domestic. That the Super Saiyan of all people is doing this... it's just..." He shakes his head.

Goku just laughs, finishing what he was cooking. "Aheh, at first I was like that, just hunting and eating what I needed, but Maple's helped me learn to really cook." He places some Paozusaurus steak in front of Raditz, a few eggs with it. "Really fun, once you get the hang of it!"

"Hrmnh." He pokes at the meal curiously, trying to look disinterested. "And here I thought you somehow picked them up from our mother..."

Table manners aren't his strong suit, then. It is kind of funny, though, Peppa and Gohan laughing as they see their uncle talk with his mouth full. You shake your head and sigh a little. "Well... if you don't mind me asking, what was your mother like? I mean, I'm sure Goku'd like to know as well..."

"Hey, yeah! What was she like?" Goku asks with a curious smile, cutting into his own steak.

Raditz goes quiet for a moment, finishing chewing the bite of steak he has in his mouth. He stares at the food before him, almost... nostalgically? "...not all Saiyans are capable fighters. Our mother, Gine was part of our father's squad, but she... didn't have the fighting spirit most Saiyans do. She'd constantly get into blunders on missions, Bardock having to save her from whatever trouble she got into. She was mocked constantly by the other members. But..." Raditz stares at you for a moment before continuing. "...our father took a bit of pity on her, and it was obvious she cared deeply for him. Her 'hero.' She was eventually reassigned to work as a butcher. She... did make some good meals." the Saiyan admits, then goes back to work on eating the steak.

Before Raditz can argue, you start explaining things to him, projecting into his mind Bardock's last stand against Freeza... and then explaining a bit about the Pendulum room to him, your encounter there, and, ultimately, how you weren't able to defeat Freeza... but did attract the attention of his brother, Cooler, in the simulated encounter. You then go into explaining some of the things that happened on Earth, but not in too much detail. The Dumb Name Army, former Demon King Shura, King Piccolo, Dr.s Kochin and Wheelo... and a bit about Towa. He still finds it all hard to believe, but... not as much as before.

As you land, you notice a few people there again, a line with a clearly rich couple, some fighters you vaguely recognize, and... oh hey, Mark, Diavolo, and... aw, little Videl. Peppa gives a little shout of "Viduh!" as Gohan shyly smiles at her.

"Well well, if it isn't the Champion couple." Mark says with a laugh. "Who's this guy?"

"My long-lost brother Raditz!" Goku tells him, helping the kids down. Peppa immediately runs over to Videl, Gohan shyly following.

"Hi Peppa. Hi Gohan." Mark's daughter tells your kids as your own daughter hugs her. "Mr. Goku, Mrs. Maple." She smiles at you both as... you notice she's in a martial arts uniform. A familiar one, at that.

"Mark... are you training her already?" you question, the line moving up. She does actually seem a bit stronger than you expected, not as strong as your own, but...

As he and his group head in, you tell the ghost usher about why you're here, the pink spirit floating away in a hurry. Raditz is surprised by its appearance, but tries not to comment on it. "So... I recall you mentioning this... King Piccolo had hurt your brother." He looks down at you suspiciously. "It sounded like far more than a simple injury. Yet he was able to meet me. How?"

Goku wants to say something, but you stop him. Need to be careful with this information...

I just was looking at backgrounds-specifically, mercenary and ruthless-and figured out of all the people we know, Tao would be the closest in mentality to Raditz currently, and possibly form social links with the Saiyan more easily. Tien and Chiaotzu, while greater martial artists, lack that mentality. Besides, it could get Raditz more interested in Tien and Chiaotzu as teachers.

You and Goku nod at each other. "Well... in a summary? 'Namekian Space Magic.'"

You laugh a little. "There are these orbs called 'Dragon Balls.' If you gather all seven of them, the Eternal Dragon, Shenron, can grant a wish. Even bring back those who died a relatively recent, unnatural death." Your tone gets a bit more serious. "...King Piccolo's minions killed my brother. Then tried to rob us of any hope of bringing him back by destroying Shenron. While powerful, the Dragon Balls are limited. I... we couldn't let him do what he wanted. He had to be stopped."

"...and you went on a quest of vengeance because of what he did." Raditz adds, a far more... understanding look on his face. "...so, they were restored?"

"Yep. You saw my Granpa's Dragon Ball a few times at home." Goku comments.

You can sense a lot of conflict going on in Raditz's mind. He's speculating on the potential of the Dragon Balls, but ultimately tries to focus on what's at hand. For now, at least. "...Vegeta would do anything to get his hands on them. And... Freeza-"

"They won't." you say with a determined stance.

"Because you will stop them." Baba adds, floating towards you all. Your kids run over to her excitedly.

"Hah, don't underestimate me." His aura flares around him. "I've dealt with plenty of tricky fighters before." At first it seems like Undine has the upper hand as she easily dodges aside his blows, countering with blasts of water. Raditz, however, displays a surprising amount of endurance, and soon starts to manage himself against her attacks. Guess his skills aren't all that bad, just unpolished. Makes sense given his history, and Goku seems pretty focused on the fight.

Your kids, however... "Not for eating, Gohan, Peppa."

"Fuh eafin!" your daughter says defiantly, trying to tear at it. You try to pick her up, the girl scurrying away with the elastic material. Gohan is forced to let go of it and starts to cry, you quickly scooping him up and patting him on the head.

"Shh shh, it's okay sweetie." He calms down a little, though Peppa's still scurrying around with the thing in her mouth. "Peppa, no."

In general it was a great mobile game. DQ 8 was very good too.

DQ 7 was a kinda disappointment, far too late and was compared with more 'modern' games.

Really liked the Nintendo DS rereleases of 4, 5 and 6. Pretty ironic it came so much later then the game boy color rereleases of 3. I was so annoyed when the shit canned the DQ 4 playstation version a while ago.

People give me such weird looks, it's great.
