Become The Dragon Quest 25

You are Countess Kotijah Imidarius, and you want to be a dragon. You have known since your birth that you wanted to be one of them, to be among your ancestors, a true dragon. Instead you have been confined to something less, something lacking the grace, ferocity and raw power that you deserve.

Last time you tried out your new tattoo and found it to your liking. You thanked the girls and then headed out to find Kat and Gil to get some advice before lunch. Kat jumped on the opportunity to lend you a hand, and essentially dragged you off to get a new outfit. While you were there you engaged the tailor's son in combat after he attacked you with a measuring tape, but all in all you didn't feel like a new outfit was answering your questions. You asked Kat how she met Gil and she told you she'd tell you the full story over drinks. After an initial denial she got incredibly disappointed, so you went with her to the tavern while your dress was being worked on.

When you got to the tavern Kat went through four glasses of hard liquor while explaining her story to you. She was born a boy, the infant heir to a family that was killed by poison, and raised as a girl so that when presented with a “cure” for her “curse”, she would happily agree to alteration magic to change genders, and then marry into another house that would absorb all her family's wealth and power.

After finding out about their plot she ran away from home and changed herself to fit the person she felt she really was. She met Gil while he was working on her lab after an explosion and was the first person she met who seemed to like her for her, not for who she could be. You assured her that you wouldn't abandon her, and that you'd help her get her revenge before telling her that she should talk to Gil about it and finally tell him. You left her to it and headed off to get your dress before lunch.
>>
After getting your dress you wandered around town looking for Fiona, and found her waiting for you with a picnic basket. You went with her to the edge of town to get to know each other, and learned quite a lot about her as far as her past and her likes and dislikes. You also learned that so long as she's part of the church she can't love you, just be your friend and fuckbuddy. You thought long and hard about the potential consequences of your next words, but you've decided that remaining friends for now is the best option.

The rules:
Best of three rolls, critical threat on a 20, confirmed if another roll is 20-modifier or higher. Modifier is Stat being rolled+Relevant skill. You can decide which skill to apply. If no one applies one, no skill will be added on. If you don't have a logical reason to apply a skill, don't do it.
Critical fails are at least two 1s on a roll. May expand this later to increase shenanigans.
Success is on a sliding scale and is situational. Some things are easier than others. Use your head.

“I don't think I can be in an intimate relationship with someone who doesn't love me. We can be friends, I still want you around, but that's not something I'm comfortable with right now. If things change, if you leave the church, or I end up being comfortable with it, then sure. But for now... For now my answer is no.”

Fiona nods a bit and hangs her head, smiling sadly.

“I wish that I could... But I have my work. I have to continue to rise within the church in order to be useful to you like you wanted. If I change course now, then what was the point of all my work so far? I'll see it through to the end for both of our sakes.”

You nod slightly, and Fiona starts to pack up.

“I should return to the others. We have to leave before nightfall so that we can travel safely.”

She pauses for a moment and turns to you.

“Permission to do one bad thing? I promise it'll only be one.”

“Fine then, just one.”

Fiona smiles brightly and moves closer, blushing profusely. She looks you in the eye for several moments before kissing you firmly, hugging you tightly as she leans into it. You're overwhelmed at first, but you kind of figured it would be something like this. You kiss her back, just a little. It's not what you expected at all. You had always assumed kissing was mandatory, something like an obligation for couples. You didn't think that it would feel so nice. Your thoughts are interrupted by Fiona grabbing your ass, and you gently pull away from her while she regains her composure.

“Sorry, sorry... A-Anyway... I'll... um... I'll see you again sometime...”

She grabs the basket and hurries off, leaving you to head back to town alone.

You manage to find Sena and Vein wandering around town on their way back to the inn, chatting and laughing about something. Vein turns towards you and waves, and Sena hurries over to you with a smile.

“It was... interesting. And a little eye-opening. I had lunch with Fiona and we discussed a few things. Mostly about the church and about her helping us out, but other things as well.”

Sena looks confused, then concerned, before she starts to smile and giggle. Vein walks over and smirks at you.

“Your lipstick is smudged.”

You pause. You don't remember putting on lipstick, which means... You're startled out of your thoughts by Sena laughing harder, smiling brightly.

“Someone's in love~”

You feel yourself blushing, and Vein snickers a bit. You can feel her in your head, not poking around, just sitting there.

'If you want me to divert her and help you save face then you better help me with something later. Nothing major, I promise. Just something with Millie.'

'If it's a crush or something she needs help with, we'll talk later.'

You smile at Sena and try to fight down your blush.

“She kissed me, but apparently love isn't allowed in her faith so we decided to stay friends.”

Sena nods and smiles.

“That's good then. She was nice. Is she coming with us?”

You shake your head.

“Nah, not at the moment. She needs to finish her training, but when she's done she'll be able to help us. Who knows, maybe we can work out a way for her to help train you or something.”

Sena grins, and you chuckle a bit. She pauses for a moment to examine your dress.

“This looks really good on you. Are you gonna pack it up to take with us?”

You glance at it. It's still intact, unlike the other dresses you've worn so far in your life, and you did spend a few gold on it. It strikes you as silly to not bring it with you.

“I suppose so, why?”

Sena looks at you pleadingly.

“Can I get one too...? Please...?”

"If we don't get run out of town or something then sure. I think we'll have time for it, but we should check in with our early warning system. Speaking of which, we should probably go see Millie."

Sena nods and smiles.

"Sounds good to me. We were on our way there anyway. Gimbly was putting on a magic show and then headed north of here, dragging two men behind him. He told us to tell you that he'll be back once everyone is looking the wrong way, whatever that means."

Vein turns and starts walking towards the inn, remaining strangely quiet. You can't help feeling like you hit the nail on the head. Sena follows along behind her, and you fall in with Sena.

You mentally reach out and try to nudge Vein to see what's up. She responds slowly, her tone even and measured.

'Yeah? What do you want?'

You smile a little bit.

'What's going on with you and Millie?'

You can see Vein tense.

'You wouldn't understand. It's an elemental thing. I need to ask her a very important question and I need some help setting the mood. I just need some time alone to talk to her...'

You take a moment to ponder things. You can't think of a question that Vein could want to ask Millie that would make any sense. They're sisters or something, and while they are pretty close, you can't imagine Millie as being mature enough to take a serious relationship... well... seriously. Not that she couldn't, you suppose, just that it's hard to picture.

'If I'm going to help then I need to know what you want to ask her.'

You can hear Vein sigh inside your head.

'Fine then. I want her to consume me. I've got a copy of me growing inside a ring, I can regrow from it no problem. I was never assigned to the prince, or to any human at all. My role is to support my sisters. They accept me no matter what, so I've been able to alter my form to spook humans and creep them out because it's funny. But Millie would never accept consuming me to boost her own power, even though she'll need to if she wants to be free from Tirio for good. That's why I need to set the right mood. Pretend...'

You feel her rummage gently through your memories for a moment.

'Pretend Taret offered to become part of you. And you'd be able to hear him in your mind whenever you wanted, talk to him, and you'd get a lot stronger. Except he'd also see everything you do, hear it, experience it the same as you. It's pretty intimate, right? That's what happens when an elemental devours another. They're along for the ride as a part of your being. Some do it just for power, others do it to forge a stronger bond with a companion. Millie needs to get stronger, even if it sets me back quite a bit.'

>I'll help you, sure, but the final word is Millie's

'I'll help, but you should make sure that your replacement is growing properly before you do that.'

At this point Vein turns around, walking backwards and facing you with a grin.

'Don't worry about that. It's all taken care of.'

Sena smiles a bit.

“What's got you smiling like that?”

Vein shrugs.

“I dunno. I guess I'm just having a good day. I think Gimbly liked that ring you gave him.”

Sena blushes a bit.

“Thanks for giving that to me, by the way... Do you really think he liked it?”

Vein nods.

“I know so. I can see into people's minds, remember?”

Sena smiles a bit and turns to you.

“Vein helped me talk to Gimbly. She even gave me her ring to give to him as a present.”

You're pretty sure Sena was there when Vein explained her plan to make a backup of herself, which either means she was too busy playing with her new toys to listen or Vein has been tampering with her memory. You hope that it's the former.

As you near the inn you can see Gil and Kat. Kat looks more than a little upset, and Gil looks like he's seen a ghost. You don't have to be a genius to guess what happened. Sena waves to Gil, who gives her a slight wave in return before heading into the inn, Kat trailing behind him.

>Head in and talk to Millie, you told Vein you'd help

You decide to go and check in with Gil first, mentally pinging Vein to convey your hope that she hasn't been meddling with Sena's mind. Vein simply gives you a shrug in response, as though saying “What do you take me for?” You really wish you could read her better, but the blindfold gets in the way a bit. You head into the inn and look around a bit. Kat is in the lobby, sitting on a chair and looking a little dejected. You leave her for the time being, Sena and Vein will no doubt happen upon her and help her out. You head upstairs and find Gil sitting by a window in the hall, a flask in one hand. He looks as though he's holding back tears, his unfocused gaze lingering on the carpet.

“Gil.”

He doesn't look at you, but he does shift slightly in response, moving a hand to his eyes and rubbing idly.

“Yeah. Yeah, sorry. What's up?”

He looks in your direction, but you can tell he's not really looking at you. His mind is elsewhere.

“Let's talk.”

You walk over and sit down beside him. He takes a sip from the flask and looks up at the ceiling.

“How are you holding up?”

Gil chuckles a bit and takes another sip.

“How am I holding up...? Pretty badly... I can accept Kat being... who she used to be. I can handle that. I love her, and nothing will change that. But I had this idea about how my life would go. Even when I met you, some of it stayed the same. I'd marry Kat, we'd settle down one day, start a family... You know, all that heartfelt stuff the bards imply happens at the end of every story.

We'd be happy and I'd just have to worry about my daughter marrying the right man or my son getting a good job or something... Turns out that isn't happening. Kat hasn't worked out how to carry a child and she isn't sure she ever will. On the one hand it means all the sex has been a lot less risky than I thought. On the other...”

He looks at the flask for a moment, takes a sip, and then offers it to you.

“Since I met you I've gone from vigilante carpenter to freedom fighter and assistant to a future dragon. My whole future is turning out less and less like I hoped it would. There was so much I was going to do...”

You take the flask from him. You recognize the smell, it's the same stuff Kat was drinking at the tavern earlier.

>Get over it. Life happens, the future isn't set in stone. Make the most of it.

“What did you plan to do with your life before everything happened? Did you just want to be a carpenter?”

Gil nods.

“Yep. I was gonna live a quiet life, marry Kat, start a family... Make sure Sena found a nice guy or something, watch out for her...”

You take a drink from the flask and almost choke on it. It's horrendously bitter. Gil takes the flask back.

“It's meant for sipping, not slamming. Kat's... a special case. She's had to take all kinds of mixtures to get where she is... something like this must seem pleasant by comparison...”

He pauses, then slams the remainder of the liquid all at once, squirming a little as he swallows it.

“Guh... I don't know how she does it sometimes...”

You gently pat him on the shoulder.

“You're still alive. Your dreams aren't dead. You can still look after Sena, you can start a family with Kat if she figures things out, or just adopt or something. And when all of this is over, I'll do what I can to help you find a quiet place to live somewhere nice.”

Gil shudders a bit and brings a hand to his mouth, and he burps before heaving a bit, swallowing and grimacing.

You stand up and grab Gil by the shoulder, hauling him to his feet. The easy answer is to just open the window, announce to people outside that he's going to puke, and then let him get it out of his system. You grab the window by the rail and yank upwards and push Gil forward. Maybe it's the lack of claws. Yep, it's probably that. Your fingers slip upwards along the window, and in your haste to get Gil pointing out the window before he vomits, you wind up shoving him through the glass. Crap.

Glittering fragments and regurgitated liquor fall to the ground below, and you hear a scream that sounds an awful lot like Kat coming from below. You had meant to yell, but you were caught off guard by the sound of the window shattering. Gil pants hard, gazing downward.

“S-Sorry... sweetie...”

He slumps a bit, and you pull him back in so he doesn't collapse on broken glass. You can hear a commotion outside, probably Kat, Sena and Vein.

It's not an easy trip, but you manage to keep him upright without losing your own balance, and you get outside without incident. You leave him leaning against the door frame as you exit the inn, and you spot Kat sitting down crying quietly as Sena and Vein tend to her. Sena is healing the little cuts she got from the glass, while Vein is removing the shards and cleaning her up with some water. They're both mostly done already, but Kat looks like... well, a dunked cat, if you're being honest. Shaking, probably cold, and her hair is a complete mess. She spots Gil and sniffles, and Gil staggers over to her slowly.

“Kat... You ok...?”

She nods meekly.

“A-And you...?”

Gil wobbles a bit and collapses beside her, falling into her arms rather ungracefully.

“Been better... but better now...”

He curls up against her and Kat strokes his back softly. She smiles a bit and laughs softly.

“You know I can drink you under the table... Silly man...”

She hugs him, and Gil makes a sort of contented grumble as he tries to return the embrace, head nestled against the crook of her neck. You see him flinch and hear him retch a bit, and Kat shudders. Vein bursts out laughing and Sena covers her mouth with both hands, looking mortified.

“Oh man, it's all over her back... Hah! Classy. Well, back to cleaning...”

Vein waves a hand through the air, and a mass of water forms above the pair before raining down on them. She swipes her hand through the air and they both start to dry off, with Kat looking even more untidy than before. Gil groans softly.

“I'd like to go to bed now...”

You turn to Vein.

“Can you make him a glass of water or something? I don't need him getting dehydrated and getting worse.”

Vein gathers up the shards of glass and forms them into a cup, filling it with water.

“I'd make some ice, but that's more Millie's thing than mine.”

She gives the cup to Kat, who starts to coax Gil into taking small sips. Vein gives you a meaningful look and tips her head in the direction of the inn before walking inside. Seems she's rather insistent on getting this matter with Millie resolved quickly. Sena sits by Gil and Kat, checking her brother over.

“Just be yourself. She likes you for you, right? You don't need anything flashy for this. You're giving her a power boost and then coming back to life somehow.”

Vein shrugs a bit.

“Great. Your advice is pointless. I don't know if you've noticed but Millie is the only one of the Seven Sisters who can tolerate me for long periods of time. Key word, tolerate. The others accept me as a guardian and protector, but that's it. Millie... puts up with me, with a smile on her face. Being me isn't going to do me any favors here. But if that's the advice I have to work with...”

Vein slowly removes her blindfold. Behind it are a pair of sparkling metal orbs. They slowly redden, and rusty liquid flows down her cheeks, almost as though she were weeping blood. She grins.

“This is me. Earth and water. Dissolved minerals and rust. Sludge and slime. Filth and mud. She's a storm. A brilliant flash and a deafening crash. I should be myself, right? I'm not even in the same league as her.”

Rust?. You are Persistent unstoppable force punishing sloppy soldiers/farmers, who will outlive us all. Even the mightiest storms/blizzards stop. You? Never.
Mud, dissolved minerals? Life giver. Enrichment of soil, fertilization, giver of precious electrolytes, crop grow controller. You control clay, glass - master of pottery.
Liquid metals? Gems! Precious gifts of mother Earth.
Who said you that you are out from her league?
>>
“Stop being putting yourself down already. You wanna be a creepy weirdo, fine. But you're more than that. You're not just mud. You're clay. You're mercury. You're dissolved minerals, right? So you create gemstones. And mud implies dirt, and mineral-rich soil creates life. So stop your blabbering. You're on the same level as her, you stubborn jackass.”

Vein stares at you for a moment before she starts to laugh, doubling over and slapping her thigh, her wild hair obscuring her face from view for a moment. Bit by bit she calms down and straightens up. A sudden change has come over her. Her hair is full of small ornaments, little jewels shaped like drops of water hanging from the ends of brains that are tying themselves in her hair. Her eyes change from rust to a brilliant ruby red and then a deep amber, and the pallor of her skin is replaced with a light tan, with streaks of gold traced along her skin like delicate brushwork.

“Thanks.”

She walks towards you, growing to match your height.

“I needed some inspiration for a new body. All I had to do was provoke you enough to spout more nonsense.”

She gives you a thumbs up.

“I'm off. When you see my copy, let her poke around a bit in your head to see this form so she can copy it.”

She turns and heads for the stairs.

“And... thanks for saying that. Not many people have said nice things about me. It was kinda nice.”

“I just said what's true. Run along then.”

Vein nods and heads upstairs, leaving you to contemplate the situation. It's just been one thing after another since you came to town. Weird legends of ancient kings and queens, a trip to the past to slay a dragon and acquire treasure, a huge festival and now, perhaps at long last, the end of a series of complicated relationship problems. Not that you're upset that you came to the town or anything, but it feels like you've been through a lot in the past few days, and hardly any of it advanced your goals. Maybe when Millie and Vein finish whatever they're about to do you can ask about reinforcing your mental block so you can prepare a plan for dealing with Allegiset...

You're interrupted by Gil, Kat and Sena walking in. Gil looks a bit better, one arm around Kat, and Kat looks... She still looks like she needs a hairbrush and a change of clothes, but she seems happy. And Sena is giggling a bit, smiling at the pair. She walks over to you while Gil and Kat head upstairs.

You take a moment to regard her, before smiling.

“Let me think... The most adorable thing ever... A crossbreeding between a bunny, a kitten and a puppy that possesses the cutest qualities of all three? A... Bukittuppy? There's gotta be a better word for that...”

Sena shakes her head, and you immediately launch into another

“An omnipotent and malevolent creature being reduced to a cute and harmless form will of impotent rage and adorable noises? A tiny Allegiset capable of only flailing about and being angry sounds kind of cute.”

Sena shakes her head again and opens her mouth, and you cut her off with a playful smile.

“Gil proposed in a drunken stupor and said a lot of things he meant but probably won't remember?”

Sena pauses, then nods.

“Yep. Those other things sound pretty cute too though. Now he's gonna go and ask Vein for a ring!”

You head upstairs with a sense of dread. It's been one thing after another and you're starting to get tired of this nonsense. At least, that's what you tell yourself. You honestly can't imagine abandoning your friends in a time of need even if it's an inconvenience. When you reach the top of the stairs you suddenly find it feels very humid, and the air smells of freshly turned soil and rain. Kat and Gil are in the hallway, staring into your room, and thick clouds of smoke and dust are billowing out of the doorway. The door itself is behind them, leaning against the wall after being blown off its hinges. You presume it was at least. It's charred pretty thoroughly, but you didn't hear the banging as it hit the wall. Kat turns to you, rushing over.

“Help.”

She grabs you by the shoulders.

“Help now.”

She drags you over to the inn room and shoves you inside. Thanks, Kat. As you regain your balance you're struck by how... pleasant the air in the room feels. Thick mist obscures your vision, but you can see the glowing humanoid shape in the middle of the room. The eyes are shining and brilliant, but aside from that you can barely see them beyond their outline.

“Millie...?”

The mist suddenly vanishes, and Millie slips her blindfold over her eyes. She smiles a bit, looking slightly more than than before, and her bangs now jet black, framing her face as opposed to covering it the way Vein's had covered hers. She jumps at you, hugging tightly.

“Cousin!”

You hug Millie and pat her on the back. Her grip is monstrously tight, but you're not being crushed to death or anything. When she lets go and you can breathe properly, you smile a bit.

“So I guess things worked out then? You and Vein united or you ate her or however it works?”

Millie nods, doing a little twirl.

“Yep! She made a convincing argument. We spent... A rough approximation would be ten years in your time frame... So we spent ten years or so discussing things, comparing notes and making plans. And then I took her core into myself. It's nice having a conversation partner who thinks at the same speed that I do and can speak at the speed of thought.”

You nod a bit.

“So what's the plan then? You two came up with something, right?”

Millie nods slightly.

“By combining our magic we'll be able to provide a more accurate picture of the resting place of the White Blade. But before we do that, we should deal with the twenty soldiers heading towards the town. We have the choice to try to evade them, but they'll be able to track me easily. While I can detect them through their veil now, my power is too great to properly mask without more practice. I have to confront them at some point.”

She waves a have through the air, white dust forming around her fingertips.
>>
“From there, I can chart us a course toward the blade. We shouldn't have much trouble reaching it at all! We could outrun them and reach the blade before they reach us, but I don't know if that's wise since they'll probably realize they've been detected and bring more troops along... I could also just teleport with you to it, but then your friends would be left alone. I don't have the stability to get everyone there at once right now.”

The white powder slowly comes together, and with a soft crunching noise it turns into a large piece of rock candy, which Millie immediately starts crunching her way through with a smile.

>If we have the blade we can turn the tide. Let's race them.

Than the default options. Can you please have Millie give us an info dump on if we're legit wanted by the kingdom or if this is black ops shit?
>>
“So who are they then? The same people who were following Gimbly?”

Millie shakes her head.

“Nope. Order of Oak. The intelligence one, the one that's all about stealth and assassinations and tracking. That's good news though, they're harder to mobilize in force. It means that someone is calling in important favors, expending resources.”

Millie conjures another piece of rock candy and offers it to you, and you bite into it. It's pretty much pure sugar, you don't know what you were expecting. Kinda nice, if a bit overly sweet.

“Above the board? Or is this discrete and off the books?”

Millie shrugs a bit.

“The Order of Oak doesn't have paperwork. They follow orders. For them, the only thing that matters is that their boss doesn't order them to be killed. Lots of shady stuff with them. Like oak trees. Shady oak trees. Their head is directly supervised by the king, so whatever is going on it's worth risking his wrath if he finds out. Or someone got the king to personally issue the hit himself.”

Millie smiles.

“We're like... bandits! Or vigilantes! Ooh, can we vigilante them? I can bind them in chains now! And other stuff too, like... like giant ice cubes!”

You sigh and smile.

“So you're saying we're either wanted to the extent that the king himself ordered this, or that whoever is pulling the strings here is taking a big gamble. So we're obviously worth something to someone. That probably means Tirio has a hand in this...”

Millie takes a moment to conjure a mound of rock candy, making a chair out of it and sitting down, eating it by the fistful.

“If their veil was weaker I could tell you more... Lots of archers, and at least three mages though. It'll be rough...”

They have twenty men and right now not everyone is in fighting condition.

We'll need a distraction against them that leads them on the wrong trail. While getting our team to head towards the sword.

With three mages, they'll overcharge our power and our magic eating ability in under one round. So someone needs to deal with one or two mages.

The archers and other assorted warriors will also be armed against magical and physical assault.

If we want to turn the entire town into battlefield, then that may mean a lot of causalities.

We could use the church against the magic users and misinform the town that the men are assassins or bandits.

Lightning Sword would be ideal to give to someone.

Get Gil prepped so he can use his shiny knives in tandem with Sena. Who hopefully can use a bow with her magic.

Kat can make healing potions, grenades and we can set up traps from where there incoming with her concoctions.

Millie will do what she needs to do.

Kotijah will be best to hit them when the mages are taken out. Gil and Sena hitting the archers and their other men and be overall support to Kotijah.

Kat will keep reserves a healing, buff and attack potions on hand. The brewing cup should give her much needed ingredients to work with.

Has everyone read the books we've gotten so far?

By the way, how did Millie devour Vein completely? Our noble buttler could eat only half of the shard. Or constructs are something more than just elemental?
>>
>>43101435
Cenere and Millie are both elemental constructs, but Cenere is a naturally occurring one who got bored and decided to serve humans to pass the time. Millie is artificial, created in a lab by the professor, hence the use intense loyalty thing. Cenere's rules are self-imposed, like a game. He's loyal to you because to do otherwise would ruin the game he's been playing, and he would rather die than be bored. As for the cores, Millie now has a second core, just like how Cenere has more than one. For an elemental, there's no point to a fully digested meal, not when they can use what remains to spread their power around a bit.
>>
>>43101435
The whole "devouring completely" thing, I presume, is a reference to how she ate Vein and got her full power, right? Vein willingly allowed herself to get consumed and merge with Millie, rather than Cenere being a predator. Big difference between what can be taken and what can be given.

Sorry about the big delay, I was trying to draw a map and wasn't happy with the result at all.

Time for tactical info!

The village map is here/ Yes, it's a premade one as opposed to a custom one. I suck at drawing and this one will suffice. The soldiers are coming from the upper right corner of the map, where the currier (I assume that's courier mispelled) is.

You currently know the whereabouts or can easily track down the following people: Gil, Kat, Sena, Millie, Gimbly, Pirin, Fiona. Including yourself and assuming you can coordinate the whole group, that's 8 people. The inn is pretty much at the center of town, but right on the main road. You know that your enemy consists of twenty people, at least three of whom are casters and the majority of which are archers. You don't know how the townspeople will react to this battle, so you have to decide if you're sticking around here or venturing out somewhere else to prepare for this fight

Unmentioned abilities or facts worth noting that you'd learn pretty easily so I won't bother making you hunt for them:

Millie has a much wider “broadcast range” now and would be able to reach Gimbly and Fiona to deliver messages to them. You've also seen her combo with Vein, which is something she can do by herself now, although the power will fluctuate since she's still adjusting. She can also leave delayed spells and trigger them like remote mines.

Sena's ring and necklace look different now, and during planning for the encounter she will inform you that Millie and Vein modified them while you were out so she can vent energies in either direction in bursts. It won't last long and there will be whiplash, but she can vamp out at will now and then return to normal.

Gil isn't in top form right now, but Kat can whip up something to get him back on his feet. Alternatively Sena can attempt to tend to him, freeing up Kat to do mad science. Her time with B. Light wasn't all torment and agony, she picked up on a few things, and could rig up some nasty surprises to slather onto Gil's arrows.

You've seen Gimbly's illusions, a common trait among bards and storytellers to enhance their performances. Pirin, as an aspiring master storyteller, knows a few tricks as well. Simple illusions, sure, but illusions nonetheless. If you get him up high enough he can also sit on his cloud throne and provide air support.

You've got about two days on these guys, if Millie's intel is accurate. If they have more heavily veiled troops up front or other forces, you don't know about them currently. From here on out you'll have to figure plan for the unknown, prepare for the worst and determine how badly you want to dent their faces in.

So, what's priority one for The Battle of Nyl?
>>

-

"We know enough to make a plan. We're going to fight and win. I need you to contact a few people for me. Pirin, Gimbly and Fiona. Let them know I need their help and to contact me as soon as possible."

Millie nods a bit and smiles.

"Okie dokie!"

She takes off her blindfold and starts to concentrate, and you head back out of the room. Sena and Kat are chatting while Gil is sipping his water. He raises his glass and smiles a bit.

"Our fearless leader returns... So, when do we head out...?"

You shake your head.

"We aren't yet. First we're going to deal with the people chasing us."

Gil nods slightly.

"Sounds good to me. How many?"

You smirk.

"Only twenty."

Gil nods.

"That's fine..."

He takes a drink of water, pauses mid gulp and looks at you before spitting it out.
