It's that time again /tg/. Rev up those art programs, because its time to build world of colorful critters. The goal of this Game is to see far the evolution of these critters go, and to also see how many days we can keep this running of course. As GM, I'll be actively working to make phylogeny charts to track the evolutions, and also throw in some random events to keep this interesting.

How to play:
• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice
• Make one evolutionary change to that species
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of what evolution you've added and why.
• Adding size increments or names is optional, but would be appreciated.

Notes:
• Unless stated explicitly, no species ever goes extinct. Old species can still evolve, even if they're not on the latest "chain"
• Try to make your evolutions gradual and realistic
• Every 3-4 hours I'll add an update Phylogeny Chart to track changes.
• Every 12-24 hours I'll be rolling for a Random World Event.
• Have fun

The Setting:
The planet is similar to Earth around the early Cambrian Era. It's currently mostly covered in oceans. The animals in it are tiny and sightless. The landmasses of the planet are desolate, and not viable for most animal life at this time.

do you post the single species too?

As of 10:30 PM, this is the current Phylogeny of the EvoGame thus far.

Couple items of note:

• Algea is currently the prevailing clade of the EvoGame, which makes a lot of sense in an ecological sense; but there's been a lack of evolution from our Braf or Cerars.
• Thanks to the abundance of Algea, the Oceans and the atmosphere of the planet have started to slowly accumulate a more oxygenated environment. So small organisms now have more breathable air to thrive on.
• Mulus have been noted to be eating Algea with little disregard to the potency of many of the Algea species, the Smelling Mulu being a exemption to this. Each Mulu that is not the base Mulu or the Smelling Mulu, roll a 1d12 to determine what happens to them.
- 1-2: That Mulu Species is wiped out
- 3-4: That Mulu Species a massive drop in its population, but grows a small tolerance for the poison in small quantities
- 5-6: That Mulu Species experience a population decline but builds a tolerance for the poison.
- 7-8: The Mulu Variant is uneffected by the Poison
- 9-10: That Mulu Species becomes resistant to the poison from the Algea plants.
- 11-12: The Mulu is able to adapt the poison as a defense.

Good Morning creators. I present to you the updated phylogeny of our world so far. I apologize for the long delay on this chart, but sleep and classes are a thing.

Again a couple items of note:
>>43031536 was a briefly observed species of Braf, but rapidly went extinct due to a lack of acute senses to support the species "ideology"
• Many shallower spots in the ocean have become 30% darker as a result of the large swathes of >>43029935 that have begun dominating the surface.
• Due to the dominace of Algea, more and more Oxygen and Nitrogen have been pumped into the planet's atmosphere, which has stabilized the overall atmosphere.
• A random event will occur to the world in one hour's time.

Some of the "FastBraf" creatures begin to develop additional fins in order to travel faster. In addition, unlike their slug ancestors, they have begun to "glide" across the ocean floor in search of prey.

Random Events will be determined by a d6 die roll.

1 = Mass Extinction Event - Each organism needs to roll a d6. Organisms rolling a 4-6 are safe. Top predators (Indicated by Gold Box) rolling a 5-6 are safe. Plants rolling 3 or higher are safe. The Bubble Algea must roll a 5-6 to be safe.
2 = Minor Extinction Event - All organisms roll a d6. Rolling a 4-6 means it survives. Organisms with one or less mutations are not effected.
3 = Gamma Ray Burst (Mutation) - Latest mutations of organisms roll a d6. Rolling a 1-3 kills the species. Rolling a 4-5 means survival. Rolling a 6 means a mutation of my specifications
4 = Cold Snap - Algeas must roll a d6. Algea must roll a 4 or higher, or else its killed in the event.
5 = New Species - I introduce a brand new species to the world for nurturing and evolving.
6 = Evolutionary Boom - Each Clade of organisms gain a new trait/feature.

At last, I bring you the latest Phylogeny as of 4PM CST. Apologies again for the late entry on this Phylogeny. In the future I intend to also add some minor details to the organisms such as their names, and size increments.

Anyway, updated details on the world:
• The world's atmosphere is now has an equivalent amount of oxygen in the air as the Late Ordovician Era on Earth.
• The shores of the now growing landmasses have begun to accumulate a sandy loam, due to the mass amounts of plant matter decomposing in the shallow seas.
• There is a distinguishable difference in warm water and cool water habitats in the oceans.
• Top predators are identified by the Red Squares, and the most abundant herbivores are identified by Green Squares
Plant algea have become the first complex plant organisms to exist, and willed be referred to in a future clade known as Chlorophyalgea.
• The next Random Event will occur at 10PM.

Enjoy

Mutabraf suddenly appear from an old strain of Braf. They have the strange ability to incorporate the genetic material of tissue that they ingest. While this by no means gives them the ability to 'steal' traits from other creatures, and while it goes mostly unnoticed, it mean that similar diets over multiple generations can lead to bizarre mutations in line with other creatures.

The oceans of the world this /tg/ made world have been filled with organisms that have long since adapted to either the poisons of the organisms they consumed, and the poisons within them. All is not well though, as the proliferating poisons in the water have now created a bloom of noxious arsenic poison, that rapidly spreads via the ocean currents. Only those fortunate enough to either adapt to the poison or seek refuge in the extreme shallows will make it through this eco-castastrophe.

Rules:
• a d6 must be rolled for each organism
• Plants and Herbivores must roll a 3 or higher to live
• Carnivores must roll a 4 or higher to live
• Species specified as having a "toxin resistance" need to roll a 2 or higher.
• Cerars, the Plate Bzols, and the Lichen colonies are unaffected.

As the toxin levels begin to accumulate in the ocean, the gliding braf occasionally breaks the surface of the water in order to expel it's poison excrements, while at the same time breathing in the oxygen-rich environment.

To facilitate this, the fins of the gliding braf have now joined together, forming a reverse-delta shaped pectoral fin. Signs of a dorsal fin is also showing, explaining their fast turning capabilities.

As the creature spends more of it's time in lighter areas, it has begun to eschew it's light sensitive cells for a pair of rudimentary compound eyes. The reliance on sight-based hunting has drastically weakened the effectiveness of it's original Sonar capabilities, though it can still be used for long-range detection.
