It is good to be back. Sort of. For the first night it was really strange to sleep back in your own room. For a few seconds when you woke up in the morning you thought you were still back in Hogwarts. Then realizing you are not. You are not sure if what you are feeling is sadness, nostalgia, confusion or all of them mixed with a pinch of anxiety.
A few days pass, you continue to take a look at your textbooks but mostly spend your days resting and just chilling at home. The weather gets worse and worse, really windy and cold with a light blizzard, making it impossible to fly with your mother.
Finally it is time for Christmas dinner. All of the house is decorated with Christmas decorations and there is a big tree standing in the living room near the fireplace. The house elves cooks lot of food and prepare the feast. The guests start arriving one by one via different ways. Your uncle Edmund and his wife also arrive with their son, your cousin Alfred. It is nice to have someone around your age to hang out. Then other guests arrive, some distant relatives, a few friends of your father from work, your aunt Luisa and some others. Everybody is talking about something in small two or three people groups. Then a friend of your mother arrives with her husband and a small daughter, looks a bit younger then you. Your mom seems to talk to her while some others just pretend nobody is there.
Your uncle gives you a copy of " Healing at Home with Herbs" by Professor Dame Phyllida Spore as a Christmas present. Your aunt gives you a box of Chocolate Frogs. Your father gives you a blue-bronze really warm scarf as a present.

You talk a bit with your uncle and your cousin. Learn more about what kind of work he does in St. Mungo. Then you thank to your aunt for the chocolates. She seems quite tired with rings under her eyes but keeps smiling all the time, maybe even overdoing it you think.

Then you meet with the little girl and your mother's friend. "Ah John you have grown so much... I wish we had more time together." She smiles. "You can call me Aunt Dromeda, and this is my daughter Nymphadora. She will start Hogwarts just like you but in two years." The girl seems quite enjoying herself looking around with curious eyes. "Joan told me you have become a seeker, John. How do you like Quidditch so far?"

You ask them more about the Metamorphmagus. Nymphadora says it's not something you become but something you are born with. She says she can change her facial features just by thinking about it. But she can't do much other than hair color changing these days until she becomes an adult. "It is not allowed to do it when you are a kid!" she says, sounding annoyed.

Then you think about Cordelia and counter attack with your own coolness. "Well check this out then!" you say and bringing your Finnish Pirka Bee to the living room to show to them. She seems interested. She pets Cordelia and says "It's really cute!" Your cousin Alfred also joins the conversation. You three chat a bit then you realize Andromeda is not there anymore, talking something with your mom.

After a while the dinner is served by the house elves, it is quite a feast. You sit next to your cousin and your uncle at the table. Your uncle constantly talks about weird cases he sees at the St Mungo's which becomes a bit boring to you.

Your father makes a toast after the dinner "To the future of the Wizarding World!" you see your aunt doesn't toast along with the others. But you don't think about it. After the dinner she seems also eager to leave and just kisses you on the cheek and leaves before anyone else.

You talk with your dad and uncle about first year spells and potions. Your uncle asks you about some potions like Herbicide or Cure for Boils and seems impressed when you tell him you already know how to brew them. "This kid would make a good Healer!" he says to your dad. You ask him about the bite marks you saw on Glenn's arm. First he seems suspicious but then just says he saw two times some marks like this, one time when a girl was attacked by some bats and one time when a kid was trapped in a meat eating plant. He asks where did you see these marks but you managed to change the subject into Transfiguration. Sadly they say you just need to study more to get better.

You also talk a bit with your mom and her friend on Quidditch and they give you a few basic tips on flying especially during bad weathers.

As the hour becomes late the dinner ends and every guest leaves one by one. "I think you did well by inviting her." your father says to your mom and she just nods while you leave them to their late night chat and head to your room to read a bit your uncle's gift book before sleep.

But you spent most of your time on Transfiguration class. You read the text books over and over again. You are really upset that you couldn't manage any kind of transfigurations yet. Finally after a couple of days of reading you decide to try again. The most basic one, matches to needles.

A few day passes. You read on the Prophet that Professor McGonagall has married. It is interesting to note how small the wizarding world is and that something about Hogwarts usually make it to the news.

After the New Year's Eve, you ask your mom to teach you something that they haven't taught you in Hogwarts yet, that would put in you in front. She tells you she will teach you a spell that only a handful of people know because it was created by her "group" in Hogwarts.

She teaches you the wand movement and says it should be cast one a person, not an object. It makes the person mute but the person doesn't realize this. He hears the words he wants to say perfectly fine as if he is speaking. But in fact no sound is coming out to the others. And she says it was possible that sometimes the person even spoke random sentences instead of what he wanted. She says it can be a bit advanced for you but you want to try nevertheless.

You try to cast the spell on your mom, who doesn't defend herself and just waits for you to manage it, thankfully you remember correct, the movement she taught you and you say "Noloquito!" nothing happens in appearance. But when you see your mom opening her mouth and talking but no sound coming out you know you have managed to do it! Just a few seconds later the effect of the spell comes to an end.

"The duration and the effect of random bubbling is up to the caster's skill and practice" She explains after. Your father overhears the conversation though does not look pleased. "Do you remember how many hours I have spent trying to find who casts these damn charms, Joan?" he sounds annoyed. "And you teach John about it to do it now." He turns to you and "Stick to the curriculum, son." He says in a half warning, half annoyed voice.

You are happy nevertheless to learn about a new spell.

You have an access to many magical beastiary and herbology books at your house. You read a bit on the magical bats, also known as vampire bats, Hogwarts area is known to inhabit a few of their species but they are mostly small bats that might have a very difficult time attacking a human. As for man eating plants, from what you read you can guess some of this kind of plants might be living in the Forest of the Castle but not anywhere near the lake.

You say your goodbyes to your mom and you are ready to return the Hogwarts after a two week rest.

Your father brings you to the King's Cross station. You see in the station Valdis and his father walking to the platform. Your father greets his father from a far and they wait for you to walk. It seems your father actually know Valdis' father. They chat about some old days while you talk with Valdis. He seems quite the same to you, has some Chocolate Frog cards in his hand. You presume maybe they were some Christmas presents he got. "How is your old buddy Quirrell? You two were the rascals of Ravenclaw!" your father asks to Valdis' father, the two laugh and chat with nostalgia "Actually I think he will apply for a job in Hogwarts soon as Muggle Studies professor or something..." Mr. Viridian replies.

You also see with the corner of your eye that some other students you know have not entered to the platform yet, either buying something or simply looking around. You see Anya with presumably her parents, you see also Alba with a young adult man carrying her stuff. You think you also catch a glimpse of David before he disappeared in the crowd.

You try to catch the eye of Anya while your father is talking with Mr. Viridian. You wave and finally she sees you. She starts walking towards you with her parents. In the meantime you can hear Alba arguing with the guy loudly in a language you don't understand and finally she enters the platform.

"....haha yeah you are right Ed, remember that crazy old hag in the Hogs-" the arrival of Anya and her parents interrupts the chat.

You introduce Anya to your father and Valdis does the same. Anya seems a bit shy. Her parents introduces themselves. Her father, James, looks young for his age, he has the same blue eyes of Anya wears a glasses, while her mother have a different look than Anya with her blonde hair. They both wear long black topcoats and his father wears a black hat also. They seem eager to meet with wizard people. A bit awkward chat starts. Thankfully Mr. Viridian seems informed in Muggle affairs and mostly carries the conversation until your father asks, out of the blue if this was the girl you wanted to bring for Christmas, making you red.

After the small talk finishes three of you enter the platform. Finally enter the train and sit at the same compartment. Anya asks you when you are seated, "You wanted me to come for Christmas, John?"

Glenn enters the compartment wearing a really long purple cape along with a cowl, with gold lines. He seems quite ridicules even by wizard standards. Anya looks shocked. "Wow, Glenn! That is...quite a fashion statement!"

Glenn just sighs. "Since I made a real prophecy...mother saw it was fit to buy me a nice cloak worthy of my Gift..." you really feel sad for what this guy has to go through at home. "I think it's cool!" Valdis says, not sure if he is joking or serious. Even Cordelia seems really interested with the color scheme.

After half an hour ride with the train you hear some noises coming from the corridor. As much as you can see it's David arguing with a Gryffindor boy.

You take David into the compartment and Valdis asks what was it all about. David says he was just talking with a kid about their study group and this Gryffindor boy got pissed off and start trying to start a fight with him or something. Anya offers some chocolate to David but he refuses.

After looking around and making sure Malus left he leaves, thanking you for your intervention. "I don't like this kid much..." Glenn says after David leaves. "You were both victims of the same thing" Valdis reminds him. "Yeah...I guess but...just I don't really care for him I dunno"

You spend the rest of the journey catching up with your friends. Anya tells you about her trip with her parents. Says it was like a "magical town" You don't quite get what she means by that.

Valdis says he spend the holidays in his grandfather's house with this father since his parents are divorced. Says his grandpa bought him a new sophisticated telescope as Christmas gift.

Glenn says he had to tell about his prophecy over and over to his family members...

Finally the train arrives at the Hogwarts and you are back in the Castle before you know it. Hogwarts looks really beautiful covered all white with snow over the holidays.

It is nice to be back. You feel as if you never left. Anthony finds you before the day ends and tells you there will be double practices this month and he wants you to attend to the upcoming match of Gryffindor-Hufflepuff to "learn some tactics and stuff" You nod, without being able to protest.

A few weeks passes without a major incident. It's the day for the Hufflepuff vs. Gryffindor match. You head to the pitch with Anthony and rest of the team, as Captain said it's compulsory attend.

The match is quite intense. With a light snowing weather, it looks like a storm of red and yellow mixed with each other flying around in the pitch.

Gryffindor doesn't play bad, much better than their first game. Alba scores a lot of goals actually and they are ahead of Hufflepuff. The Hufflepuff captain, Emmanuel is also the seeker. You heard that he is quite good. Especially compared to the Gryffindor seeker.

The score is 70-20 when you see Emmanuel is starting to dive in like crazy towards the ground. Panicked, the Gryffindor seeker also starts diving, but can't quite control himself and couldn't avoid hitting Alba from above, sending both of them diving uncontrollably to the ground. It all happens so fast, Emmanuel grabs the Golden Snitch a few meters above the ground, finishing the game 170 to 70. Alba and the Gryffindor seeker ends up hitting the ground, thankfully on the soft snow yet both stay on the ground injured, badly.

You run towards the most front bench and try to catch a glimpse of what is happening. As the Seeker tries to get up, Alba is also trying to stand up her broom seems broken, as well as her left arm, the dropped Quaffle lies next to her broom on the snowy ground. She seems furious. "Què et passa?" even you can hear her shouts. Madam Hooch runs towards the pair as well as Madam Pomfrey following from behind. Then suddenly you see Alba has her wand in her hand. Lot of people gasps. "Damn that chick gone crazy!" Anthony comments near you. You don't hear well because of the snowing and the wind yet you can see Madam Hooch also has her wand drawn. Suddenly Alba casts a spell, you think it's going to hit the seeker but it hits the Quaffle on the ground next to the Seeker and the ball is destroyed. Then Alba gets disarmed by Madam Hooch's spell. Quite the scene!

Both students then carried away by them to the hospital wing. They do not let students to visit them and they are out after a few hours. She doesn't attend to the dinner but you hear from the rumors that she got a really big detention.

You study for your next class, which is the History of Magic, and the subject is the "Werewolf Code of Conduct" You read for hours on the subject before falling asleep on your bed with the book left open on your stomach.

Thanks to the study, you spend your dream running away from werevolves and fighting against giant wolves in Hogwarts to protect Alba, who seems to have injured herself in your dream.

At least it pays off since you were quite good at the class next day.

It's the Book Club. The familiar faces are sitting around the room. Anya, holding her copy of Animal Farm seems quite excited about her suggestion being chosen and ready to comment on the book. Mary, the first grade Hufflepuff sits next to you, Hannah, the third grade leader of the Club opens up the session and Raphael, the second grader Slytherin seems quiet today.

Anya goes on and on about the book and the writer, some stuff she is talking about you don't get quiet, it must be some Muggle things. Raphael says he didn't like the book a lot but the rest of the club says it was a good read. Anya seems satisfied. This time the Slytherin boy suggests a book to read, "Dracula" and Hannah, suggests "Madame Bovary" then she looks at you sheepishly and asks "Which one do you think we should read, John?" with an innocent smile.
