>This Quest takes place in the world of Yu Yu Hakusho, where you play as a young man who will become Koenma's new Spirit Detective

>Decisions will be made by vote; at the end of each update I give, options will be provided. Typically, you should only vote on one, but in some circumstances multiple options will be taken in a vote.

>There will be ten minutes to vote after each update; whichever option has the most votes will win

>Writeins will typically be allowed, though only when they are given as options at the end of a post

>This is not DBZ, so death will almost certainly be permanent

>This is not Game of Thrones, so main characters will probably not be dying left and right. So, be careful with your choices, but also relax and have fun

Your mother and father seem a bit on edge during the short drive to the elementary school. You aren't sure why, and they don't offer any explanation.

When the car pulls up to the elementary school, Madelyn is waiting, and comes running to the car and getting in next to you. She shuts the door, and the car pulls away from the school.

"How was your first day?" your mother asks.

"It was good," Madelyn answers. "They read us stories."

"That's nice," your dad tells her. "What stories did they read?"

"Green Eggs and Ham," Madelyn answers. "And Dinosaur Roar."

"They made you take a nap?" your dad asks in a mock-horrified tone.

"Yeah!" Madelyn confirms. "And I wasn't even tired!"

"What an outrage," your dad jokes, earning a bit of laughter from Madelyn.

"Mom, what are you so upset about?" you ask, leaning forward.

"It's nothing," your she assures you. "I'm just not very happy that you got into a fight on your first day of school."

"It was me," your mom answers.

"Did people ever follow you home from school looking for a fight?" you ask your dad.

"Sure, lots of times," he answers. "Didn't usually go as well for me as it did for you, though. I got my butt kicked plenty of times. Unless my buddy John was with me, then we were usually fine."

Your mom frowns again, and your dad looks as if he said something he shouldn't have.

Your dad chuckles. "Yeah, I guess that's true."

He glances back. "I actually met your mom through him."

"Yeah, he wasn't such a bad guy when I got to know him," your mom admits. "Not all that bright, though."

Your dad shrugs. "He was smarter than me."

"That's not saying much," your mom teases.

The car pulls into the driveway, and your dad helps Madelyn carry her backpack into the house.

"Why don't you order some pizza for dinner while I go make that call?" your mom suggests to your dad.

You wait until your father disappears into the kitchen, then tiptoe up the stairs, creeping after your mother as she makes her way to her room, shutting the door after entering.

You approach with as much stealth as you can manage, pressing your ear to the door and waiting. You can hear the sounds of her rifling through her drawers before they are replaced by a muffled voice.

"What's going on?" you hear your mother ask.

The voice says something you can't make out.

"My son told me he ran into one of your people, now what's going on?" your mom demands.

The muffled voice says something else.

"No, I told you I'm not getting involved in any more cases. I just want to make sure my children aren't going to be roped into this," you hear.

The muffled voice continues to speak for a while, and you strain your ears to hear what's being said before a sound to the right catches your attention.

"What's-" she starts.

"Siegfried was eavesdropping," your dad explains. "He wants to know what's going on."

Your mom puts a hand on your shoulder. "I'm sorry, but we can't tell you, at least not yet."

"If it's about me, I have the right to know it!" you insist.

With dinner finished, and Madelyn's bed time not terribly far off, you ask your little sister if she'd like for you to read her a bedtime story.

She smiles brightly at this suggestion, nodding eagerly and rushing to retrieve a book for you to read to her.

Your mother gives you a smile before going to put the dishes away. Your dad goes to help her, though you're pretty sure she could do it herself in about a minute. You go to the living room and sit on the couch.

Soon, Madelyn comes running down the stairs, a book clutched tightly to her chest. She hops next to you on the couch and hands it to you, an eager expression on her face.

It's called "The Kissing Hand", and your mother read it to you all the time when you were about Madelyn's age. It's about a mother raccoon who kisses her baby's paw. Then, whenever the baby misses her, it can place its paw to its face and treat it like a kiss from its mother.

It's a very simple story, but Madelyn seems absolutely enthralled by it, and listens to every word you say until the book is over.

You sit down at your computer and search the web for any bugs that match watch you saw. You do manage to find a few species of insect that bleed blue, but none of them even remotely resemble the thing you saw yesterday.

You decide to call it a night. Turning out the lights, you crawl into bed, falling asleep pretty much the second your head hits the pillow.

You dream about a swarm of bugs overrunning the city.

You head downstairs the next day to find your mother and sister in the kitchen. Your dad seems to have left for work.

A plate of waffles waits for you on the table, with a tall glass of orange juice sitting next to it.

You take your seat and dig in, your mother soon joining you and Madelyn at the table and digging in herself.

"Would you like a ride to school today?" your mom asks.

"Sure, thank you," you say.

Your mom nods, and tells Madelyn that the two of them will be taking you to school this morning. The three of you finish breakfast, load into the car, and drive to the high school.

You say goodbye to your mom and sister before heading to homeroom, where you find most of the students already gathered.

Randy is sitting in the middle, apparently texting on his phone.

Erin is in the front, reading a book.

Jim is way in the back, glancing around the room.

"I'm good," you tell her. "How are you today?"

"I'm doing well, thank you," she answers politely.

"What are you reading?" you ask in curiosity.

"Oh, The Hunger Games," she tells you. "Everyone's been telling me how great it is, so I decided to give it a read myself."

The two of you spend homeroom discussing books you like to read, and Erin seems to enjoy talking with you. You think you can feel a bit of friendship beginning to form between you and her.

Homeroom soon comes to an end, and you proceed to gym.

Mr. Charles is not in a very good mood. As everyone runs laps around the gym, he constantly shouts for people to hustle, and snaps at pretty much anyone who says anything, accusing them of saying something potentially offensive.

Robert is present, and he looks ready to kill you. For whatever reason, Mr. Charles doesn't seem to notice this, perhaps because Robert has actually been pretty quiet so far.

"Man, I don't think I've ever seen Robert that mad," Randy says as he jogs by your side. "He must be steamed over yesterday."

You tell Randy about the fight that you got into yesterday, and the dude's jaw nearly hits the floor.

"Woah, you took on Robert and two of his friends? Man, how tough are you?" he asks in disbelief.

You look back at Robert to see him still glaring at you hatefully. You smile and give him a little wave, trying to goad him into doing something that gets him into more trouble.

He looks ready to take the bait, but Mr. Charles calls for the laps to end.

"Okay, did everyone have fun?" he asks, looking at the class, then specifically at you. "And does anybody have any comments about other people running like girls, implying that girl's can't run?"

You keep your mouth shut, and Mr. Charles stares at you for a bit before allowing class to continue.

The class finishes without incident, but as you begin to head for your history class, you hear Robert shout from behind you.

"Hey, shithead!"

You turn to see him marching towards you, fists clenched and face red...like, really red. You don't think you've ever seen anybody look quite so furious.

"I'm gonna fucking kill you!" he declares, slamming his fist into your face and knocking you flat.

His punch huts a hell of a lot more than anything he did to you yesterday, and your jaw actually feels numb for a moment there as you look up to see him raising his foot to step on your head.

>>
>>42988940
You roll out of the way and push yourself back to your feet. You try kicking at the inside of Rob's legs to make him lose balance, but it doesn't work as well as you'd hoped. One of his legs does buckle, but he still manages to lean forward and punch you again, making you see stars as you stagger back.

By this point, a crowd has gathered to observe the fight, and predictably, nobody is stepping in to lend you a hand.

Rob comes at you again, and this time you have the chance to block, though the force of his punch is enough to make you take a step back.

You're going to teach Robert a lesson abut attacking you like this.

While he's disoriented and on his knees, you give him a strong kick to the face. He slumps to the ground, going still. For a moment, you worry that he may have stopped breathing, but luckily for you, he didn't.

In the future, you might not want to use such brutal attacks on a fellow student if you can help it.

"What's going on?" a voice demands.

You look over to see a balding, middle aged man approaching the scene, a look of horror on his face. Some of the assembled students leave with haste, while others stick around.

"What happened?" he demands, stopping in front of you.

You tell the man exactly what happened; all of it, even going back to the events of yesterday so that Robert can't bring them up later and make you look like a liar.

"The others here will back up what I'm saying," you assure the man.

"Alright, if what you're telling me is true, then you should have little to worry about," the man tells you. "Even so, I'd like you to come to my office."

That's kind of Koenma's standard deal. A Spirit Gun is more or less the most basic attack for the spiritually aware

theres a shitload of other techniques you could use instead. you should change things up a bit. i know this is a fanfic quest but you can still have some originality.
