Important notes

>Casino – Vicky desires for you to come and speak with her. She been overworked lately directing the casino gang to secure additional floors. Their resources are spread thin and gangs that have sprung up following the slaver’s ‘mysterious’ deaths have been building strength.

“Alright that is enough,” You say once finishing the reports, the soldiers have been placing bets on who wins this catfight, they seem fairly relaxed about this whole situation. It seems like your speech has gotten them to actually trust you.


Tslah attempts to remain looking queenly, the ghaele general stops to laugh about how silly their fight was, and the commander is furious, mostly at you.

It seems that no new elemental control was developed.

“Why don’t we ask Director Burgess about it?” You offer.

“Right, some random criminal just happens to know the Director?” The commander says, she hopes that you don’t.

“Leaving so soon?” Tslah says, “I had hoped you would stay longer.”

“You are in command here right? I need to talk with you anyways,” the ghaele general ushers Tslah off to talk about how to integrate the new arrivals.


“Lead the way then ‘Goblin King’ where is the Director?”

The soldiers follow along to the portal while checking out the strange, to them, buildings. They just brush it off as a hell thing that the buildings scan as being alive.


A quick trip through the first layer of hell and you return to the goblin city, the commander tenses when she sees the large adaptive battle cannons Hestia has mounted to protect the city from future attempted invasions.

“Prepare for teleport,” Hestia says.


She strips you of the power armor and interface suit and dresses you with the teleporter. You drop down to the ground and wonder if it was really necessary to do that, you could have just stopped at the hanger on your way. You hear a gun being readied, as well as the commander takes aim.


“So you are human then, now I am placing you under arrest-” you ignore her and just pull the trigger yourself with telekinesis.

“Now are you going to continue this or can we get moving?” You ask as bullets clatter to the ground without hurting you.


The commander stews and thinks of ways to overcome your defense while the soldiers think your display was hilarious, they are starting to not care so much for their commander’s overbearing mission focus.

Hestia’s drones direct you through a doorway that leads to a large chamber with more doors everywhere. A holo display in the middle of a fountain declares this place to be ‘the nexus’ a central hub for fast travel. Hestia has integrated spatial folding into the entire city, researchers are using the area as a relaxing meeting place and former child slaves are darting in and out of doors playing tag.


Ignore the soldiers awe, you follow the drones to a door and enter the holo theater that the Director apparently is still in.


The commander is left speechless this time as Director Burgess is actually here.


“So you’re back, how did it go?” He asks while finishing off a couple holograms.

“The ghaele were looking for a home, so I relocated them to hell where they will no longer be a problem,” You explain, “there was a super weapon deployed that destroyed the ghaele settlements though.”


“Fucking hell those nerds are going, wait, relocated?” He asks then bursts into laughter, “that’s a damn good idea, while they think they’ve won you snuck the goal out from underneath them. Not bad, not bad at all, but who are these worthless sacks of shit?”


“Commander Lisette Caldwell of the western defense force, sir!” The commander says and salutes. The soldiers follow suit stating names and ranks.

“Were did you pick them up?” Director Burgess asks you, ignoring them completely much to the commander’s surprise.

“They were attempting to infiltrate the ghaele fortress to rescue the marquis, he escaped after I located him so he should be fine,” you tell him.

“We were able to confirm the marquis presence in the dungeon but cannot corroborate this criminal’s story, sir!” The commander says.


“Well why bring them to me? I don’t give a damn what happens to them, just teleport them away someplace they should be trained well enough to handle it.”


A few soldiers sigh, that is what they expected would happen.

“I should probably be going, someone probably notice my absence by now,” Director Burgess says and clamps his hand down on your shoulder, the ground shatters from the impact, “I’ll be back soon.”


He then leaves and the commander thinks her ticket home went with him.


“His suggestion works for me, where do you all want to go?” You ask the soldiers.

“Home,” someone says, there is a murmur of agreement.


“Hestia, can you give them some credits and drop them off in the casino?” you ask, “they can make their way up higher from there.”


With a flash of light the soldiers vanish, “They have been transported as per your instructions,” Hestia states via drone, “I will distribute credits to them and bar them from gambling it all away so that they will leave.”

“How are things going with the training and learning programs?”

“The human researchers are proving to be resistant to learning, but the former slaves are taking to it well enough. Demon reeducation is still proceeding slowly, the succubi have passed minimum tolerance and have begun to apply for permits to enter the portal,” Hestia drones on, “I have delayed granting them entrance until you decide on the matter. Also there has been a surge of requests asking to be allowed to keep phoenixes as pets.”

“So after two marriage proposals you decide that the demons may be making others uncomfortable?” Hestia asks, “Of course, I will guide my city properly, the phoenixes will be in no danger.”


“How is the casino gang treating people in their territory?”

“Rampant extortion and bullying, an occasional broken limb or two,” Hestia explains, “Overall conditions under them are no worse than the lowest reaches of administration controlled territory.”

“Then support Vicky please, perhaps we should also consider expanding production to help give out food and water. It is outside what the gang would normally do but it should help maintain control over the floors with needing a large increase in man power.”

“For now I will divert funding to allow the gang to expand. Your humanitarian campaign would require a large investment into infrastructure which could draw unwanted attention.”

“I’m only considering it, if the population is loyal to us hiding our activities up there would be easier, for now tell me more about the glowing blood you found in hell.”


Hestia is happy to chat with you as you walk back to the portal to hell. You learn that the glowing array of blood runes appears to be building a vast amount of power, from the inscriptions Hestia was able to translate with the help of the succubus mage the array is trying to call forth someone called the half man.

As you pass a holo display you see Ayla teasing Aurora live, since they seem a bit busy you decide to head out alone.


Hestia escorts you to the site of the blood with a few drones, they float around taking pictures and samples.

You notice a slight difference in the terrain here, this is where you killed the mage when looking for the nightmare with Ayla. The runic array is directly on top of where he was killed you think based on the remains from your laser attack.


The array itself is some sort of magical demonic rune script, the translator is having difficulty processing what it says. You cannot determine what it means other than what Hestia explained earlier, it is as though the building magic is trying to hide its intent and presence. You get the same sort of feeling from the array as you got from the energy buildup that generated the crocodile statue from the realm of law, you could probably feed mana into this array to get it to complete whatever it is trying to do.

“Have you acquired any new information about that dome of fire or tunnel you for before?” You ask Hestia while you set to work translating the runes.

“The flames are able to bypass my enchantments to make the drones fireproof, the distortion from the fire renders me unable to scan the interior of the construct,” Hestia states, “the humanoid amphibians are still overly aggressive and attempt to destroy any drones that enter the tunnel, I have only been able to map deep enough to detect an unusual mana signature.”

The runes appear to be some sort of ritual phrasing and from what you’ve gathered the array is not to call forth someone, but rather resurrect him. The spell itself is coming from far away so you can’t replicate it with the information you’ve gathered here.

“I think the blood mages are trying to resurrect that man I killed here,” you tell Hestia

“Are you going to try to stop the ritual then?” She asks.

I'm not sure what will happen cause we consumed this guy's soul orb, it's how we got void connection. But if we learn more about souls, I'm for it.

You try to feel around the glowing blood for a soul, but you can’t sense anything. It could be that with the distance involved with the ritual that the soul only lingers on the blood mage’s side of things.


You use your command over the elements to tear at the magical ritual site. The ground crumbles and falls into the lava burning away the glowing blood runes. Then you feel the built up mana suddenly and violently snap as the ritual is disrupted by your meddling.


“My scans indicate that the buildup has ceased,” Hestia states, “you have successfully destroyed the array.”


Part of you thought it would be harder since Hestia mentioned the drones being unable to disrupt it, she must have just not been trying very hard.


“Is there anything you’ve learned from the runes?” You ask.

“From the power modulation I may be able to attempt replication of the resurrection effect, but the process seems to be inferior to the Lazarus serum,” Hestia tells you, “Using the data gathered here I will have drones begin to sweep over the city to determine if there is any active blood magic as well, by disrupting the ritual we may have angered demons somewhere.”

On the way there you keep chatting with Hestia about some things.

“How are the twins doing?”

“The pregnancy is proceeding normally you still have several months by my estimation before birth, even the medical goblins would be able to successfully deliver the children when the time comes.”

“I also was thinking about the whole marriage thing.”

“How forward of you, but I accept,” Hestia deliberately misinterprets what you said, so you just change the subject.


“Has the djinni remained in captivity?”

“He is very unhappy but any mention of Ayla makes him become obedient, I think she already forgot that he exists,” Hestia says, “she has shown no interest in the other djinni at all outside his mistreatment of the phoenixes.”

“Have you been able to get him to divulge any information?”

“No, he refuses to talk ‘to a machine’ only Ayla’s influence is keeping him captive.”


You start sensing life below the surface, the tunnel must be nearby. There are only thirty life forms, with a large group of ten in a single location.


“Here is the tunnel entry,” Hestia says and a drone flashes light down into an opening.


Walking down into the tunnel you see that there are two branches almost immediately, one to the left is closer to the surface and has the group of life forms not too far away. The right hand path descends deeper into the ground.


The tunnel itself is tight enough quarters to prevent you from being swarmed.

“Keep the drones back a bit, I will scout out the situation,” you tell Hestia.


You fade into the darkness if the tunnel, trying to manipulate the elemental control you learned from the prayer book.

“I do not recall you learning that from the goblins,” Hestia comments, “you should return to the research center so I can study your body,”

“Perhaps later,” you tell her, moving through the shadows you no longer feel limited to how fast you normally can move. In an instant you transverse the distance to the creatures, but are forced to stop as the room they are in is filled with the glow from a pool of lava. The tunnel ends in a dead end with this room.


The creatures themselves are mostly human-like, rather than legs they have long tails. They move through the lava pool unimpeded it doesn’t seem to harm them at all. They wield a variety of pole arms ready to right anything that intrudes on their domain.


The creatures are dumping metal and gems into the lava, some sort of magic cauldron in the middle of the lava pool glows with power.


Their thoughts are fairly simple, you could probably control their minds if you wanted to. From what you sense they would attack you immediately if they noticed you.


With the cauldron they are trying to craft a powerful artifact.

Looking deeper into their minds you attempt to determine how they are creating the magic that is building up the cauldron.


They don’t know anything at all, there is a deep set compulsion forcing them to act. The sum of their knowledge amounts to ‘throw shiny things into lava’ which isn’t helpful to you. When you try to shift their opinion of you to being their friend, someone that can be trusted to help them with this process you find another compulsion hidden in their minds. It will trigger when they see something that is not one of their own kind, forcing them into a rage as they are compelled to kill. You attempt to insert yourself into their minds as being one of them but you can’t seem to break past this compulsion that is in place.


Rather than just being a suggestion their entire soul is being forced into submission by some unknown force. You are not sure that you can break or even alter the compulsion.


By studying how the compulsion is layered into them you have determined that if you do manage to break the compulsion then the others in this tunnel will become hostile to any of the creatures you lift the compulsion from. You also feel a faint signal leading deep into the ground, it is possible that tampering with the compulsion will also alert whoever put it into place, or it could just be a tiny bit of thought monitoring their progress, it is hard to tell.

This got me thinking, don't ask why, completely unrelated subject, but, when Max shows up again and tries to fight us, we should fuck with him by "copying" his moves.

When he does that Lunar Slash thing or whatever, we perform the "Solar Slice" or something. While his attack is bright and flashy, ours uses darkness and isn't showy because of it.

He'll tear his hair out if we keep it up.

The power of the mental compulsion worries you a bit so you skulk back through the shadows to Hestia’s drones.

“I have no information to give regarding what they are doing, while similar to enchantment I can find no purpose to dumping materials into the lava,” Hestia says when you return.

“They are being controlled by something, I’m going to take the second path and try to find the controller.”

“The drones will maintain security here then, good luck.”


The right side of the tunnel twists deep into the ground, there are creatures patrolling but in the pitch black tunnel you slip around them as though you don’t even exist.


As you reach the end of the tunnel you come to a column filled room. Lava flows down from above illuminating the room and at the far end a massive vortex of flame twists about. A large throne sits empty in front of the vortex.


As you look around from the shadows a massive gout of fire explodes forth from the throne. A figure of pure fire forms and throws fireballs at you.

“Who dares to intrude on the domain of the fire lord?” The fire elemental bellows.


You dive out of the way losing your cover but avoiding the blasts. A rush of lava cuts off the exit, this fire lord guy isn’t going to let you leave.

The amount of mana radiating off the fire vortex is incredible, but you doubt you’ll be able to force it to shape into any magic that isn’t fire based.

Your halberd cackles with elemental power as you manifest it, you use it to block two giant flaming scimitars the fire elemental strikes you with. The intense heat boils your shield away slowly.


Your counter attack is devastating, the elemental’s swords are shattered and you bisect his body. The elemental just drains power from the fire vortex and continues to battle as though nothing happened.


Thinking that the elemental may be drawing on the power here you try casting the strongest fire related spell you know, orbs of magma form and then replicate. The twelve burning spheres blast the elemental, he doesn’t even bother dodging and chuckles at your attack.

This proves to be a major mistake, the magma is able to burn through the fire elemental. Your magic applying a torrent of extra elemental effects as it makes contact with the elemental. The flowing magma turns to solid stone and the vortex withers away into nothingness as the elemental pulls in any and all energy possible to sustain its life.

Batting aside fireballs you begin to grow in size increasing your power. The clothes Hestia has made for you nearly tear, stretched to the limit, clearly not made for you have grow this big. The elemental floods the room with intense heat desperately trying to kill you. You feel the lives of the creatures above you in the tunnel fade as the elemental keeps pulling out more mana from them.

You slam your halberd through the fire elemental, pinning it to the ground for a moment. Then you will the stone to form a small room around the two of you, trying to minimize oxygen content and hopefully prevent it from pulling more mana. You then prepare the biggest blast of ice you can make with magic and hold it ready to explode. The fire elemental has since shifted free of being pinned to the ground, but that just makes the next bit even easier for you.


Grabbing the elemental’s burning form you heft it up and over you. The suplex slams the fire elemental into the prepared spell detonating it with a blast of elemental energy.


You can’t tell if you killed it. The remains of the elemental is a large block of what appears to be frozen fire. There is probably a soul orb in there, but if you shatter the ice to grab it and the elemental is alive he could try to escape.


You do however sense that all the thirty creatures above you are on the verge of death from having the mana sucked out of them by the fire elemental.

That's sounds really hot.

The elemental’s power settles into place inside you. You feel your command over the elements twisting his power over fire into something more suitable for you.

Beings strongly aligned with elements you command become non-hostile to your presence. Unless they are particularly powerful your mental abilities automatically succeed against them.

Living weapon -> Elemental weapon
You can now manifest vastly stronger weapons that exist as pure elemental power. Due to you level of control you can specify a weapon you manifest to be a singular element, and shift elements without the need to remanifest the weapon.


Shrinking back down to normal you head back up the tunnel while healing the creatures. The first one you come to you focus extra energy on to make it recover quickly.

The creature grabs its spear and hefts its body back up off the ground, it blinks its inner eyelids at you, but doesn’t attack. Checking over its mind you see that killing the elemental removes the mental compulsions, but it still seems very hostile. It considers you for a moment, then goes back to patrolling the tunnel.

“Hello, can you speak?” you try asking it, but it ignores you and shakes the others you are healing awake.


They communicate with a series of hisses. Your translator manages to work so you know that they are somewhat intelligent, but it seems that they can’t understand your words. They complain about there being a strange human here, but continue to mostly ignore you.


You head up the tunnel to Hestia’s drones and the creatures don’t bother you at all.

You head over to the room where the creatures were making their artifact and see that the lava has frozen solid here as well, the creatures hiss amongst each other. They are confused why they are here and what they were doing. They are no longer trying to do whatever it was they were doing and they start to leave the room, still ignoring you.


You tweak the minds of the thirty creatures, making them not so hostile. They shouldn’t attacking on sight now but will still defend themselves.


“The creatures are no longer hostile, they do not want my drones here in their tunnel however,” Hestia’s drone floats in shortly after the creatures leave.


“I was going to ask if you could study what they were doing in here closer but the magic seems to be fading away,” you say and look into the cauldron and around the whole tunnel for loot.

“The dome of fire is the only other unusual thing you’ve found right?” You ask Hestia.

Hestia’s spends some time with you crafting a suit from the scales, she tries to make advanced power armor with extra environmental protection, but you don’t have enough scales so you settle for making a nice tuxedo.

While you act as a tailor putting the suit together, Hestia enchants the suit and alters the scale into more usable materials when necessary. When you finish you have a custom tailored red dragon scale suit. For a shirt you use the gray dragon scales, and the shoes are crafted from the brown scales. Hestia alters materials and colors a few more times to ensure the ensemble looks as good as possible before layering heavy enchantments onto the entire thing. She uses all the enchantments she knows to create the most powerful suit ever made.

Reaching into the brand new pockets you pull cigarette out and light it on the dome of fire. You’ve never had a smoke this smooth before, everything is going to go alright.

“Please don’t do that, it is unknown how your regeneration affects cancer,” Hestia admonishes you.


You give her a nod and walk directly into the flames. The cigarette is instantly incinerated when your personal shield fails. The flames cut through your defenses as though they don’t even exist.


On the other side you have to wait for your eyes you grow back enough to see. The suit is undamaged, just where the suit didn’t cover is horribly burned. You watch the dead scorched skin change color as your body heals itself, and that is when you notice that there are two other lives in here with you.

A large form that looks to be made of living obsidian and fire lays curled around an egg. The dragon appears to be sleeping. The dragon is much smaller than the one you met in hell, it is only about twice as big as Izulu.


You touch the mind of the dragon very softly to see how strong it is, and it effortlessly repels your probe. You’ll have to try very hard to break past the dragon’s mental defense.

Ideally we can try to convince mother dragon to let us help her return to full strength before we go. Fill her with food, train her physique up a bit since it probably atrophied at least a little. See if we can make potions strong enough for someone of her size - dragons tend to get exhausted quickly from what i see in fiction, so one with concentrated stamina potion would be that much more formidable.
