The fair games were fun, with Sena conning a conman and you beating a bell ringing game despite a faulty hammer, earning a stuffed bear (Sir Bearington) and a stuffed rabbit (Squire Thumper) for Sena. Then you went to the fortuneteller and met with a poorly disguised Gimbly. Turns out he does care, and that he helped the men following him track you down to muddy your trail even further. The crystal ball he had with him was some kind of storage device for Millie, so you let her out and sat back to watch her tag team with Vein to kick some butt.

Gimbly led you off to dance after you decided to get your groove on, and Millie and Vein walked off to work on your magic item together. You learned the local dances for the party tonight, and gently spurned the advances of your dance teacher before Gimbly warned you about getting too involved with people and walking off to cause a stir and draw attention to himself. You wandered off to meet up with Kat and Gil as sunset approaches, and found them by the vendors.

Gil nods a little.

"Alright then. There should still be a few left, but I'd hurry. Oh, and tell him I sent you his way, he'll give you a discount. Just don't ask him why."

He turns and walks off, and Kat follows him with a giggle. You shrug, take a deep breath, and follow the aroma of cooked meat to its source. You arrive at the vendor's booth and sit down on a stool, peering over the counter at the skewers of meat and whole roasted chickens on display. The vendor grabs one and stabs a giant fork into it for a handle, smiling at you.

"What'll it be, lady? Mutton on a stick? Maybe a nice piece of steak?"

You point at the chicken.

"Gil sent me. I want one of those."

The man looks at the chicken, then at you, and laughs.

"I don't waste good meat, and mine is the best in town. There's no way you could finish the whole thing."

You pull out a gold piece.

"I'm carrying plenty more. If I don't finish the whole thing then you can have them. I'm famished."

The man nods and takes the coin from you.

"And if you can then you can have the coin back, along with an apology."

He hands you the chicken and smiles.

"Where I can see, lady. Don't go wandering off with that. You said you could finish it, so let's see."

"Deal."

You bite into the chicken and smile. Delicious. You take another bite, munching and crunching into it. You pause and look at the chicken as you chew. Crunch? You can see bones sticking out of the chicken, broken from where your reinforced teeth bit through them.

"What, no good?"

The man looks at you with a hint of suspicion, like you're about to tell him his food isn't the tasty meal it is. You chew thoroughly and swallow.

"I said I'd eat the whole thing. And I'm going to. I was just savoring it."

You tear into it with wild abandon, crunching, tearing and biting with a smile on your face. You pass the empty fork back to the vendor, who looks stunned by your display, and you take the coin back.

"It was so good I had to eat the bones too."

The man nods numbly, and you turn and head for the center of the festival to track down Kat and Gil.

You make your way to the crowd, trying to find Gil and Kat. You can hear people around you starting to chant, and a quick glance tells you that the sun is about to set. People are jumping, shouting and cheering down the last few seconds, and you try to push your way through to find your friends to no avail. You could take to the air to find them, it would probably be easy, but then you run the risk of being spotted with your wings out. Then again, this is a festival of the night, so you might be able to get away with it.

You leap up and grab onto the shoulders of the man in front of you, pushing up and into the air. You focus your magic to lighten your body and jump from his shoulders into the air, spreading your wings and flapping to gain some altitude. From up here it's a lot easier to spot people. You can see Gimbly demonstrating a magic trick to two young women, Fiona pointing you out to her fellow members of the church excitedly, and Pirin drifting above the crowd with a drink, watching the sunset.

At last you spot Gil and Kat, right by the stage being put together in the middle of the crowd. As the crowd hits the last ten seconds, Fiona and the other priests leap onto the stage, each leading a portion of the crowd in counting down. You land at the last second, Fiona and her fellows casting off their white robes to reveal black underneath, and the crowd goes wild, everyone drinking, kissing, hugging and celebrating.

The sky instantly darkens, and in a matter of seconds the stars shine dazzlingly bright, illuminating the festival as the moon moves to the center of the sky. Kat is smoking her pipe and kissing Gil, while Gil is doing shots of some sort of brew between kisses. Music begins to play, and the crowd starts to shift and move.

You wake up the next morning with the worst headache you've ever experienced. Well, to call it waking up would be overstating things somewhat. At least you've finally managed to come down from the high. You don't feel like you've been up all night, surprisingly. You feel well-rested, if more than a bit hung over, and slowly you piece together the events of the night before. You're in a wagon, and your right hand feels warm. You look over at it and find that it's missing, and in your panic you let go of what you had been holding, yanking your arm back and finding it back where it belongs. Odd. You start at the beginning, taking a slow breath as you sit up and hold your aching head.

The first part of the festival was the wildest, with loud music and dancing. You had a few drinks and a few pulls from Kat's pipe and cut loose, dancing with groups of people. After a while you took off your cloak when a few people asked about your wings and took flight, doing spins and tricks for the amusement of the crowd. A few more drinks in and you started to talk about your quest, and how you killed a dragon, and Pirin was quick to step in and tell the tale for you while you sat back, smoking and drinking and enjoying the spectacle.

After a few hours the dancers and musicians started to tire, and the scene shifted to one of relaxation and calm. People told stories around fires, traded drinks, couples wandered off to be alone, and there was a sense of ease in the air. People who wanted heavier substances indulged themselves, and the crowd shifted somewhat, some people moving to a special area for what you presume to be some sort of orgy, though it was actually pretty tasteful considering they had their own tent set up for it and no sound escaped from it.

At around midnight, at least, what felt like midnight, Fiona approached you. She got particularly cozy with you, making all sorts of advances that you gently deflected. It wasn't because you didn't want to do... whatever it was she had been implying, but you knew you were too drunk and too high on whatever you had been smoking to tell the difference between a good idea and a bad idea, and told her to wait til you sobered up before asking again. She seemed to take it well, at least, you think she did. You're not really all that sure. Had she been crying? You should probably talk to her about it.

When you realized you were surrounded by strangers you stumbled around to the inn and bumbled your way into the stables to lay down and cool off. The party had been tons of fun and you felt great, but the world was beginning to spin a little, so you curled up in the hay in the back of a wagon. You feel a sudden pang of guilt, remembering overhearing a couple hiding behind the inn getting cuddly, hearing one of them talk about how nice it felt to fall asleep beside someone. You look at your hand again, at the ring on your finger, and realize that's what you had been doing. You just can't remember for the life of you whose hand you had decided to hold as you drifted away.

You decide to go and see Fiona first, since that's probably the easiest task. You dust yourself off and do what you can to make yourself presentable before heading back towards the main area. People are packing up, cleaning up and slowly recovering, many in the same state as you. Everyone seems pleased though, many offering you small nods, even the people you don't remember.

You find the priests at the center, taking turns eating from a plate that they're passing around in a circle. Fiona has her back to you, and one of the priests taps her on the shoulder as you approach. She looks over at you and smiles.

"Kotijah! Good morning!"

She rises to her feet, bows to the group, and lets you lead her off, away from the crowds. You take a moment to try to find the right words to say, and then face her with a small smile.

You strip down a bit and sit on the bed, Sena in front of you holding up her picture and Millie and Vein behind you, casting spells and chanting. You feel something cool on your back that rapidly heats up, and then raw, harsh pain as the ink is forced through your skin all at once, pushing into the flesh underneath. Millie continues to chant as Vein shapes the tattoo, the pair working in concert.

You manage to grit your teeth and bear the pain, and towards the end Sena moves to your side to begin healing your back. You feel a warm cloth on your back, Sena chanting quietly as she, you presume, washes away the blood and cleans you up. You take a slow breath as the pain finally subsides, and Millie moves to your lap.

"So we can change the words to control it if you like, but they're Slumber, Awaken, and Rampage for off, on and full suppression. As for the fire, just focus and direct the power."
