Continuing from >>42855988

Frowning, you reach for the paper in the thing's hand, the tiny creature nods eagerly, hopping down off your chest to stand beside you in a hunched posture, gesturing at the paper, then at your face. Glancing down at the paper, you find it covered in rough black scratches, writing you suppose, shame you haven't learned how to read.

The thing continues to gesture to you, you suppose it's trying to tell you to read its message. Sitting up, you look around, the thing obviously crept in here quietly enough not to wake up a single one of your harem, and with the ever-awake Vaki not present, you suppose you should be thankful it didn't have more dangerous intentions.

Glancing around your harem, you try to decide who would be the best person to get to read this. You suppose if anyone would know how to read, it would be Izannia, you're fairly certain that's a requirement for sorceresses.

You nudge her awake with your hand, Izannia blinking up at you blearily, rolling over to push herself up onto her elbows.

“What is it chieftain? If you were hoping to copulate, could it perhaps wait until after my morning meal,” she yawns, rubbing at her eyes. The sorceress seems to have quite some difficulty with the morning.

“Not right now, I need you to read this,” you grunt, Izannia taking the proffered sheet of paper and sitting up, squinting at it, then glancing over at you, her eyes finally coming to rest on the tiny creature by your side.

“Chieftain? Why is there a homonculus in your hut?”

So that's what it is... not that you have any idea what a homonculus is either. Still, from Izannia's lack of panic, you're guessing it's not particularly dangerous.

“I'm guessing the note you're not reading might have some answers to that,” you grunt.

Frowning, the sorceress turns her attention to the note, squinting at it once more and clearing her throat.

“For the attention of Ur'shal, Chieftain of the Stonetusk Clan... Goddess Mytri this person has terrible handwriting...” Izannia begins, shaking her head as the homonculus mirrors your growing impatience with a frustrated arm gesture.

“For the attention of Ur'shal, Chieftain of the Stonetusk Clan.

Good morning, Chieftain, I hope my messenger's sudden appearance wasn't too unnerving to you. I would've sent something prettier, but you'd be amazed how few things beyond expendable magical creations are willing to waltz into the middle of an orc camp.

My name is Yselt Rennold-Izipia, not a name which I would imagine you are familiar with. A curious party with a proposition for you of the business variety. If you are familiar with the split rock some two hours from your camp, I would very much like to meet you there today, preferably alone, though I will understand completely if you wish to bring more of your clan as backup.

I on the other hand will be there alone, though rest assured this is far from the first time I have dealt with your kind, and I have taken many precautions against the obvious pitfalls.

I hope to see you soon, and congratulations on your many successful and profitable raids in recent weeks.

All the best

Yselt

PS, if you wish to make any amendments to our meeting, simply explain them to my homonculus, if they are acceptable, he'll nod, if not, he'll shake his head, and if you seem to be trying to play me for a fool, he'll tear off his own head and you can consider this meeting to be off.”

Well, that's not entirely what you were expecting. The homonculus stares at you expectantly, perhaps waiting for your agreement, or for amendments.

>Fine, agree to the meeting

Well we're sure as shit not going alone.

We should take Dru'ak and Zo'rok along and at least one magic user.

Let's bring Dru'ak and the honor guard and a magic user.

Dru'ak, honor guard, Izannia, Brakur. Seems like a pretty solid group.

Brakur hasn't gotten a lot of screen time lately and I love that egomaniacal sonofabitch.
>>
>>42856800
Oh! And ask Bryna or that dwarf caster if the name means anything too.
>>
>>42856839

Bra'kur and Zo'rok are both with Or'kug, so if you want them, you'll have to wait for Or'kug's party to return. Right now the only lieutenants in the camp are Dru'ak, Ya'zada and Koz'rak.
>>

I'm good with Dru'ak, honour guard and Izannia.

Let's make sure we tell our other lieutenants where we're going though.

And tell the homonculus that our honor guard will be armed.

Okay, so Izannia, Dru'ak and the honorguard seem to be a popular choice. I'm also seeing one each for Vaki and for Ya'zada. You could bring them, though obviously you don't know how many people will make this Yselt start to get cold feet.

“Fine, I'll be bringing a few people, but I'll meet with you,” you grunt, the homonculus giving a happy nod as it turns and scurries away out into your camp.

The exchange seems to have awoken the rest of your harem, many of whom are watching the strange scene unfolding before them with open bemusement.

“Ur, what was that?” Sho'ka asks, cocking her head as she watches the homonculus disappear round the edge of your hut's doorway.

“Someone named Yselt wants to meet with me, apparently. The name sound familiar?” you ask, glancing over at the two harpies and the yawning Lokasi.

The harpy matriarch gives you a curious look, chirping Yselt's name without any flicker of recognition, as her daughter simply remains silent. Lokasi however, sits up crosslegged, sweeping a strand of hair from her face.

“Yselt, yselt... Oh, her,” Lokasi frowns, exhaling sharly from her nose.

“Not a friend I take it?”

“No, not an enemy either, really. A halfbreed girl, she used to stop by at the village occasionally, trading for good and information, that sort of thing. I think she's an adventurer of some sort,” Lokasi explains, though there's a hint of distaste in her voice.

“You think she's after revenge for the villages?”

Lokasi gives a snort, an odd gesture from the elf, perhaps all this time around orcs is having an impact on her. “Yselt, out for revenge? I doubt it. She's a snake, she's contacting you because she thinks there's something in it for her, whether that something is good or bad for you, I couldn't say.”

“You think the meeting could be a trap then, if someone put her up to it?”

“Maybe. If you're going out there, be careful, Chieftain. Yselt may be all smiles and friendly banter, but she doesn't survive all those trips through the jungle by way of her winning personality, she's a dangerous girl.”

>>
>>42857633
You frown, nodding. “Izannia, you're coming with me, I'll need your magic in case this Yselt tries anything, Ya'zada, you come too, I could use the backup.”

“I suppose I have little choice in the matter,” Izannia sighs, as Ya'zada flashes you an eager grin, hopping to her feet and gathering up her armor.

“You suppose correctly,” you grunt, rising. “We leave in an hour, if Vaki returns here in that time, tell her she's coming too.”

Dressing yourself, you stop for a quick meal before stepping out into the camp, looking around. A few of your clanmates are already up and about, though last night was apparently a heavy one for your clan, and many are still sleeping off last night's fun.

“Morning chieftain,” a voice barks, Ul'gakur giving you a grin and a nod as he passes, a noticeable spring in the scarred orc's step.

“What's got him so cheerful?” Ya'zada snorts, stepping up beside you as you return the nod to Ul'gakur.

“Good night, I suppose,” you shrug, heading for Dru'ak's hut, finding your old friend already out and running through some early sparring with one of the honorguard.

“Ur, quite a night last night,” Dru'ak grunts, by way of a greeting.

“Quite a night, hope you're up for some action of a different kind this morning though. Seems some half-elf wants to meet with me, and I want the honorguard with me in case it turns out to be a trap.”

Dru'ak frowns, scratching his chin, before shrugging, having apparently decided that he doesn't really need more of an explanation. “Sure, I'll gather them up.”

You give your friend a slap on the shoulder, leaving him to his work. You have a little time before you're supposed to meet the group, so you could stop by Ku'zag if you wanted to, or you could wait until the party is ready to set out.

>>
>>42857908
we bringing the whelp with us right?
>>
>>42857879
Even if they end up being mostly orcy when they're fully developed, it's not like we don't have precedent of whelps not always being born in a fully mammal fashion; harpies continue to lay eggs, even if what comes out is still 99% orc. I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't look pregnant because she went and spawned in the river, and is currently busy looking after a bunch of eggs that need to be kept moist. Once they hatch they'll probably be no less orcy than the harpies' whelps.
>>
>>42858072
Harpies aren't weird fairy fish monsters though.

And aren't Harpy/Orcs less orcy than other halfbreeds? Due to how strong harpy genes are.
>>
>>42858102
Aren't they just really downy? I don't think they can actually fly or have bird feet or anything.

Anyway, I expect Vaki's kids to be mostly orc shaped with more of a mystical than physical connection to watery stuff. Less gills and more supernatural affinity for water. Probably some minor physical features like shark-like teeth or slightly rubbery skin.
>>
>>42858102
warlord confirmed that our vaki whelps will be weird as shit and have gills/sharp teeth just like momma.
I would love a scene just with her whelps since that would be a fun one.
>>
You decide to go see Ku'zag before you leave, you have a couple of things to discuss with the old shaman, even if he doesn't have more to add about this half-elf that's taken an interest in you for some unknown reason.

You find a particularly grouchy looking Ku'zag sat out the front of his hut on his favorite rock, Aza'ra leaning against the wall of the structure, flashing you a grin as you approach.

“I hope you're happy, chieftain, this woman kept me awake all night,” Ku'zag grumbles, jabbing his stick in your direction, though you've long since learned his reach and stay just out of range.

“I'm impressed Ku'zag, I didn't think you had it in you,” you smirk, earning a glower from the shaman.

“She demanded my entire life story before she'd let me sleep. I'm an old man, I like my sleep, and I've had a very long life,” Ku'zag grouses, giving up his attempts to jab you in the leg.

“But there was so much I wanted to hear about. Can't believe little Ku'zag claimed Rak'zara as a mate, I always knew you were drooling over her, but I didn't think you'd actually go through with it,” Aza'ra laughs, evidently enjoying Ku'zag discomfort greatly.

“Anyway, chieftain, I take it you've come here to further compound my suffering. So what is it you want?”

“First, the name Yselt mean anything to you?”

“It's a Hothite name, I think, aside from that, no.”

“Right, how about homonculi, know much about them?”

(cont)
>>
>>42858148
Feathery orcs is still pretty out there anon.

Personally I'd enjoy recreating The Shadow Over Innsmouth, but with orcy fish people.
>>
>>42858202
The old shaman frowns, tapping his stick on the stone to scare off a large centipede weaving close to his feet. “Creations of alchemy mixed with life magic, a very basic and temporary form of golem formed of dirt and the creator's blood. Mostly they're used to deliver messages, or to spy, since they're so unstable that they're hard to use to trace back to a caster.”

You nod, not much useful, but it's interesting to know all the same.

“Was that all, chieftain?”

“One more thing, I want you to go look at one of my whelps later. One of Inka's, Aleida can point her out to you. She's been acting strangely, it could be magic, or she could just be crazy, either way I want to know.”

Ku'zag gives an affirmative grunt as you turn away, leaving the shaman in relative peace.

“Oh, and Aza'ra, try not to kill him with your questions, occasionally he still comes in handy,” you smirk, glancing back over your shoulder, earning a thrown pebble to the back of the head from the old shaman. Despite his failing eyesight, his aim is still impressive.

When you arrive at the entrance to the camp, you find the party waiting for you, including Vaki, who flashes you a pointy-toothed grin as you approach.

“Ur, Vaki missed you,” she chirps, hopping on her toes. She's only been gone a few hours, but you doubt the fey has a particularly good grasp of time.

Not personally, you know that such things do exist, especially since many chieftains have considered it a point of pride to hunt down and claim some divinely beautiful fey as a slave in the past, generally nymphs and dryads. They tend to be *mostly* orcs, though always with some interesting traits from their fey heritage.

I wonder how the other players would feel about sending a human spy up north. The question is if we have someone who could possibly be successful in espionage to the mountains.
I'm real interested what's going in with Slaggyr, and if there's a revolution or something brewing, it may be our best chance to take care of him, especially with the underwater river leading right into the heart of his territory and his human forces in discord and the numbers of our clan jumping up significantly.
