You are so immeasurably bored. There is not much to keep an immortal mind occupied in a prison tomb you’ve walked countless times before. Nothing but the same dusty hallways and empty rooms.

You think centuries, possibly even millennia, have passed as you waited in the darkness.

Sitting in the stone chair you mockingly call your throne the only sound the constant tapping of bone fingers on the arm rest. The only sounds you ever heard were your own and the shifting of the stone around you. Sometimes a rumbling gave you false hope of an escape.
Even now you hear a faint rumble reverberating through the stone but ignore it for now, not wanting to give into false hope.

Instead you fondly reminisce about your time as a commanding force in the Grand Necrotic Armada. You guided your fleet across the stars, engulfing world after world in death and darkness, spreading the message and will of the Undying Court.

The undead served you with unfaltering loyalty and the living worshiped your cause. The forces of the living struggled to stand against the indomitable tide of the Necrotic Armada but unable to halt their progress as their dead rose up to fight against them.

Your fleet was one of the deadliest, conquering multiple star systems under the banners of the Undying Court and your own personal...

Strange... You can't quite remember your name and title. Worrisome but this is not the first time you've forgotten your own name. You try to remember...

>Jadyk of the Wormstar
>Ghul the Voidknight
>Akka-Tor the Lightdrinker

These three names seem very familiar to you but you can't quite remember which one feels right. The faint rumbling gets louder and momentarily distracts you but now you are annoyed with the name issue.

Who were you?

Ah, yes! That's right, you were Jadyk of the Wormstar. Servant and acolyte of the sentient sun that called itself the Wormstar you joined the Grand Necrotic Armada after your patron allied itself with the Undying Court.

You were granted great powers for your service and went on to develop many of your own. You undead were more creations and reanimations. Corpses rendered down to their base parts and remade in great Cauldrons to become your armies. Your own body remade time and again over your battles until you can hardly remember your original form, a pitiful grub that controlled corpses like a puppet.

Before your sundering and imprisonment you were a hurricane of unstoppable power but now your body was a pale imitation of it's previous power. Skeletal and human your chitin armor hangs loosely on withered bones.

Trapped down here in this prison tomb you could not hear the choral voices of the Wormstar, an emptiness that gnaws at you even now.

Ghul and Akka-Tor were your comrades in the Armada, each leading their own fleets in the service of their patrons. The three of you devastated and converted many star systems to your causes, burning a path through the galaxy.

You start to remember more of your past but there is that rumble again and a sudden crack that jolts your attention. A small shower of dust rains from the ceiling as a large crack forms. You can hear the grinding of stone and now the unmistakable rumble of machinery.

You step back as the crack grows larger and the sounds louder before a large portion of the roof collapses in dragging down a tangle of churning and groaning mining machinery. Artificial light shines through the cloud of dust that obscures your sight but you can sense them.

The Living have breached your Tomb. You hear a faint whisper behind you then a coughing sound from the hole.

"Holy... Get the foreman! We've got a cavern or something here!" A voice rings out

The Living have found your Tomb and foolishly broken in. Your flex your fingers that were little more than bone and dried skin. You could not call upon the powers granted from the Wormstar but you feel far from defenseless.

Your very touch could drain the energy from them and you knew you still had a modicum of your previous strength. Several rooms reduced to rubble in your occasional fits of madness induced rage attesting to the fact. You believe you could possible reanimate the dead but without recreating your Cauldrons you could not remake them into your signature warriors.

You hear more voices from the hole and soon you see a small hovering platform lower itself with a burst of air down into the rubble. Humanoids jump from the lift and scramble over the rumbling machinery and hurriedly turn it off.

There were three of them, two climbing over the tangled machinery inspecting the damage and a third remaining on the hovering lift and shining a light through the still dust filled air.

Your tomb hall was supported by several rows of featureless pillars, several broken and scattered but they provide good cover as you creep behind them avoiding the beam of light from the lookout. Your feet clop softly against the stone to your annoyance. Once your feet never touched the ground, deigning it an insult to your being.

The humanoids assess the damage their digging machines, their voices making it sound rather hopeless for salvaging it. They speak with the third who points out to the room, "Boss says he wants you two to check the cave out. This doesn't look natural and all ruins are supposed to be reported back."

The pair grumble but they pull out lights of their own and descend the mound of rubble and broken machine. One of them approaches your side of the hall and moves between the pillars.

As they near you can see they are a male human with pale skin under a flimsy looking bubble protecting their face. Their suit looked equally frail, more to keep out any dangerous environment than combat protection.

Your suspicions confirmed as you step out from behind a pillar, towering a full head over the man. He jumps slightly and tried to flee but your hands dart out with surprising speed. Smacking the light from his hand it shatters against the pillar and you reach out with your other hand. Shredding the plastic bubble surrounding their face your skeletal fingers grasp their face.

You feel their life force flow through them into yourself and you quickly drop the withered form. You feel invigorated even though you are still a far shadow of your once power.

The others shout for their comrade and you move away from the still corpse. Their friend jogs over and you slump to the floor just before their light sweeps over you then jerks back to hover over your still form.

Pale tan chitin armor hangs off your skin and bone frame, your skull containing only trace amounts of regrown muscle. The other digger approaches and you see they are not human like the other but rather a skinny Vorh, a crustacean but humanoid species commonly allied with the humans in their Alliance of Planets.

They cautiously approach what they think is an ancient corpse as they call out for their friend. More intrigued by your strange body they crouch down and touch what you assume is a communication device by their neck, "Yeah I can't find Charlie but I found a -k- a body. Looks mummified -kiik-," the Vorh's mandibles mimicing human speech with only few clicks and chirps.

It leans close and reaches out with a claw to poke your armor but you lunge suddenly and tackle the skinny but muscular alien. Shredding the bubble you once again drain the life from it, feeling it surge inside your body.

The third digger calls out for their suddenly silent friends, their voice starting to betray their panic. You have drained the life from two of the diggers and feel your strength returning.

How do you secure your escape?

Rubbing your throat with its newly regenerated vocal cords you cough a few times and mutter to yourself.

Pinching a portion of your neck you reach down and pinch the communication device at the Vorh's neck. A patch on their suit reads the name "Ben" a strangely human name for one, "I found -kiik- Charlie. Fell into a sink hole and his radio and light broke. Bring the -kk- the lift."

The voice responds, "Lift?"

Grumbling you pinch the device again and it crackles, "Just get over here! Charlie says his -kik- leg is broken, the bones grinding."

The voice sighs over the radio, "Ok yeah, I'm bringing the skiff around, be there in a second."

You hurriedly prop up the drained Vorh so it looks like Ben was peering over a fallen pillar. Their exoskeleton making them surprisingly easy to pose. Darting behind another stack of pillars just as the spotlight from the hovering skiff highlights the back of the Vorh.

You hear the device crackle but from this distance you cannot hear it. The skiff lands behind the Vorh with a gust of air and the human steps off with lantern in hand.

You almost feel sorry for the human woman as you creep up behind her and casually shred the protective bubble and drain her life force. She drops to the ground and you turn to assess your situation once more.

More strength returns to you and you can feel the crackle of energy in your bones. You have three ready corpses to reanimate and you believe you could now. You have their hover skiff and a way out of the crypt but you do not know what lays in wait above you. A radio crackles from the skiff, a stern voice calling for an update.

When I say exoskeleton I just mean they're a crustacean, not a powered exoskeleton. All three are wearing simple environment suits that have had their helmets shredded.
And unfortunately you do not have the skill of reanimation to bring them back with their memories or even looking like they're alive. That was more Akka-Tor's realm though you may be able to achieve it in time.

Dragging the three bodies and laying them out you snap off a splinters of your armor and channel what remains of your power into them. Embedding the shards into the hollows of their throats you step back. Several moments later in the silence of the tomb beyond the squawking of the radio the corpses stir.

Slowly they unsteadily lift themselves to their feet and stand awaiting your commands. The voice on the radio was starting to sound somewhat panicked. The female zombie, her name patch reading Debbie, picks up the transceiver. Through her you make her croak out into the device, "We're here, Charlie's injured. Sinkhole got him and then Ben tried to follow him and rescue him. We need more help," she says into the radio

The voice responds quickly, "You know there isn't anyone to help, I'm the only one up here with the drones! Shit shit shit... I can try sending one of the transport drones. What happened to the skiff?"

"Dunno, it stopped working, almost crashed," you speak through the zombie as you mull over the information.

Seems there was only one living being up above and whatever those drones might be.

You think it might be time just to go introduce yourself to this last remaining creature and take your first steps out of the darkness.

Stepping onto the skiff along with the three zombies the female stands at the controls. They seemed simple enough and with a few careful taps of the control stick they hover a few inches into the air before heading slowly for the hole.

The lights of the skiff illuminate the stone tunnel and the metal supports as you drift into it. The tunnel was heading down at a slant and only by luck managed to punch into your tomb. There were lights placed regularly through the tunnel and you strangely appreciate their glow. Even an immortal undead can miss light if sealed away in darkness long enough.

The radio crackles, the voice asking why the skiff was coming back if it was broken. Silence answers them and soon the panic is back in their voice. The tunnel curves up and passes by several others as it heads upwards. You pass an automated train of carts full of rock and what you recognize as ore hovering in place as small machines with caterpillar tracks load them up the empty carts.

Ahead you can see a shadow against the glare of bright lights, a squat shadow that calls out cautiously. Once close enough to spot a short fat human peering up at them with fear and worry on his face. Lowering the skiff to the ground they waddle up close and squint against the lights of the skiff before his piggy eyes go wide with fear at the sight of your grotesque form standing behind your minions.

He turns to flee with a shout but Ben and Charlie lunge forward and quickly drag him down then pull his struggling form over to you. You look down at him and clack your jaws disappointingly at how the man breaks down into babbling, snot and tears running down his face as he begs for his life.

Do you have any questions for the man before you take his life and join him with your minions?

The babbling of the still living human was quickly getting on your nerves. It was easy enough to reach out and drain the life from them but no, you needed information.

Your jaw clacks sharply and you lean down to loom over the short man, his name patch reading Foreman Jor. Reaching out you place a skeletal finger to his lips and he jerks and goes silent as he feels the intense cold spreading from your touch, his lips going blue before you pull back.

Your voice is dry and creaks, "Cease your mewling and crying or death will find you immediately. I have questions, Foreman Jor, and you will answer them. If you satisfy my curiosity you may yet live longer in my service. Do you accept these terms?"

The man was clearly a coward with how he rapidly nods and falls to his knees with your minions releasing their hold on him, "Yes yes, please just don't kill meee," he whines, looking at the ground afraid to meet your hollow gaze

The female zombie remains with you as the Vorh and the human male move to explore the area.

"What year is this? Galactic time, please Jor. Who controls the galaxy and does the Grand Necrotic Armada still exist? What planet is this and how do I leave it?"

The human croaks out a whimper then takes a deep breath, "I, uh, the year is 656 A.A." you politely ask him to clarify, "After Alliance fall. The Alliance of Planets. N-no one controls the whole galaxy, but-but the biggest players are the Confederation, the Osjiic Empire-state and probably the Akham. I-I thought the Necro Army was a myth," he mumbles, still unable to look you in the face.

This news does not bode well.

The Osjiic were little more than a war-mongering race of primitive hominids that Ghul had attempted to bring into his fleet near the time you were sundered.. This Confederation and Akham were unknown to you but it filled you with some joy that the Alliance of Planets had fallen. Still for the Grand Necrotic Armada to be nothing more than a myth was troublesome.

>>42841318
The human glances up cautiously and you clack your jaws his gaze lowered to the floor once more and he continues, "This-this planet doesn't really have a name but the colony is called Horizon's Plunge, the system is a red giant. We...don't really have a spacecraft. We mine and farm and every few weeks we get a trader convoy to pick up and make deliveries, sometimes we get spacers or even pirates but we don't have much and they just come for the bar and to get food. The colony is lower in the valley where they have their farms and ranches, we're just a small farming and mining colony" he babbles as you look through your exploring minions eyes.

The mine was a small operation inside, several rooms for resting and eating, a room to control the mining drones and machines and a workshop to repair them, several resting on tables or on the floor with their parts strewn about.

You look back down to Foreman Jor and command him to up up at you. He quivers in fear and does not obey. You repeat yourself with a stern voice and he looks up timidly, his face paling as he looks up at your face where the flesh refused to grow but ridges of bone and chitin started to grow once more, your hollow gaze meeting tearful one, "Do the names Wormstar, the Undying Court or Jadyk mean anything to you?"

The man shakes his head rapidly, his eyes clenching, "N-no... t-the Wormstar was an old spacer myth I thought... it can't be real..." You would scowl if you had the flesh for it.

>The Mine is yours. Full of mining tools and machinery along with drones and several hover shuttles to transport the ore and stone to the colony.

The vorh and human minions start to move through the workshops gathering supplies and experimenting with the drones. There was no foundry here to smelt and form the ore mined here but with the drones and supplies of stones and metal you have them start the foundations of your first cauldron. Drones jerk to life and begin carving and stacking stones while others cut and weld pieces of metal.

These machines make the process proceed much faster than you would have with your minions alone and satisfied you turn your attention back to the man who seemed to go numb from the constant fear. Snapping off a shard of your armor you inscribe a ruinous word of domination from the language of the Wormstar. The tan piece pulses faintly in your grasp and you snatch Jor up by the neck, his feet dangling and kicking several feet above the ground. His choking gasps annoy you but you tear a patch open of his suit, exposing pale flesh under it.

Pressing the shard against his skin he lets out a strangling scream as his skin burns and sizzles at the touch. Pressing the shard deeper into his skin it passes through and a faint cover of scar tissue forms to hide it. Dropping the man he collapses to the ground and convulses, emptying his stomach contents. You step over him as the shard takes control of him, moving to inspect the mine entrance.

A large metal wall covers the exit, a doorway to one side and mostly taken up by a large metal shutter. One of your minions flips a switch and the door rumbles open. You step out into the light as the red sun starts to dip below a mountain range in the distance. Clouds passed over head with a chill wind. The mountain was rugged and covered in a short stubborn grass with various bushes. You see flocks of small creatures soaring through the air and small six-legged mammals hopping along the cliffs.

You gaze out to the sky as it darkens, looking for familiar stars as they emerge.

>>42842231
Several hours later and Jor uneasily walks out and stops behind you, his head bowed. He says nothing and you turn around expectantly. He mumbles something and you clack your teeth making him jump.

"I-I sent the nightly transmission... I-I tried to tell them about you... and them," he says, glancing back to the mine where your minions toiled with the cauldrons construction, "I couldn't... They don't know a thing. They said they were happy to come back to work..." he says with despair obvious in his voice but he touches the freshly healed scar on his chest where the shard pulsed.

Pleased, you nod, "Good. You may yet hold onto your life a little longer. Who are these new workers?"

Gulping he casts his gaze to the short grass at his feet, "Two other humans and a kesh. Good people..."

You chuckles, "I'm sure they were. They'll be good minions I'm sure," You turn your back on him and turn your eyeless gaze back to the stars, trying to discern your location and call out to the Wormstar.

To your silent dismay you can hear nothing more than a faint whisper like the wind rustling the grass that darkens around you in an expanding circle.

>Progress on the Cauldron is progressing astoundingly but still need the chemical mixture needed to complete it. An interrogation from Jor and you believe you may be able to gather what you need from the colony in time.

This is actually pretty great. Seems like it could be as good as your other quest I look forward to more.

Can we dominate these guys instead of killing them? Maybe have the first 3 be "killed" in a mining accident. We want to make sure we can get that Cauldron up and running before we take over the village.
>>
>>42842505
As you personally oversee the carving of the cauldrons sigils and runes Jor timidly approaches and says the next crew is on their way to the mine. He adds the shuttle they take does not have a pilot, all automated to prevent accidents and save on costs by not having pilots. You nod approvingly and tell him to get ready to greet them. He gulps and pales but nods moving off to his office where you can feel him numbly changing his torn uniform for a new one.

Your minions put down their tools and the drones drift to sleep in their charging cradles. They pick up tools to arm themselves and hide in the repair workshop where the Cauldron was being constructed.

As you wait with your undead minions you experiment with your slowly returning powers. Energy crackles between your skeletal fingers and with a flick of the wrist you send a small and weak bolt of necrotic energy to strike a discarded tool. The wrench warps and rusts visibly but doesn't decay and disintegrate like it would have were you at your former power.

You hear the whine of a shuttles engines and you nod to Jor who sighs wearily and goes to meet the new shift. The trio enter the mine and Jor calls out with forced friendliness. You could feel him struggle against the domination sigil in his chest but a flexing of your will and he grimaces at the spike of pain in his chest.

One of the humans asks if he's alright and he waves them off, saying it's nothing but some heartburn. They chat for a few moments as your minion peers through the cracked door.

Jor says the miners are off doing some last minute repairs on the hover carts and would be up momentarily. The new crew was as Jor said, two humans both male and one of the monogendered Kesh. They were a strange race of photosynthetic mammalians. It was quite a surprise to see one of the arboreal cyclops as a miner but you've seen stranger things.

Seems like the best way to go, then we can use the dominated living to get us the chemicals and supplies we need for our cauldron.
>>
>>42842902
Plus we can always make them undead later.
>>
>>42842902
Exactly. Also, unless we can use plant matter then it might be better to keep them alive to create more biomass.

The Kesh's facial plates flex as they taste the air and they suddenly jerk toward your hiding place, jerking a three-fingered hand in your direction and chirps rapidly.

The warning was too late as your three minions charge from the room and attack the trio as you strode forth behind them. The kesh and one of the humans are subdued with blows to the head or tackled but the other human manages to trip your minion and rushes towards the door and the shuttle idling on the landing platform.

You quickly place yourself between him and the door and as you reach for him. He fumbles with the holster at his side and barely manages to draw his weapon before you pluck him from the ground, your hand around his throat. The simple pistol discharges and a metal slug embeds itself harmlessly in your thigh. Smacking the gun away you draw him close to your eyeless gaze.

Meeting your gaze his body goes limp and you let his still breathing form drop to the ground. The other two struggle against your minions but seeing their friend drop and you turn to them the human quickly calls out their surrender.

That was almost too easy.

The trio are bound and gagged as you decide how to proceed. The colony expected the original three miners back at base but they are currently noticeably dead, their faces drawn and withered. You could try subduing these three like you had Jor but you can feel your power already somewhat strained. It would be simple enough to dominate one or even two more but it would be a risk to take control of the others.

How do you proceed?

OP how are you deciding what rolls count? Say it's a best of 3 and first guy rolls 100, 0; next guys rolls 55, 50; third guy rolls 0, 100. Do you take both hundreds or the 50:50 as it could arguably be better than the first roll? Or is it just total amount, so you take the second roll's 105 over the other's 100?

You break off more shards of your armor, your bracer slowly disappearing over time as you attempt to control more of these living vessels.

You find it somewhat amusing how you must rely on the living for now. Three shards are carved with the appropriate sigils and runes and the light twists around them as if they emitted intense heat. The three new converts struggle valiantly against the minions holding them down, their cries echoing out into the tunnels as the shards are embedded in their chests.

You stand over them as your influence grows inside of them and your minions return to work constructing the Cauldron. Soon they would all be submerged and reformed to serve you. In time you wonder if you'll be able to leave this planet. You had ideas of where you might be able to discover Armada caches if you were able to get among the stars but for now you had different priorities.

Jor is called from his office where he'd fled and you command him to get back on the comms and spin a story as to why the other miners can't return and why the new ones are. You tell him you have confidence that he'll be able to come up with something convincing to get the needed chemicals and you have one of your minions jot down a list for him as you pat his bald head condescendingly as you walk past him.

He returns to the office and calls back to the colony saying they've broken into a large cavern complex and several machines are broken. The other miners are staying to help repair it but the new guys are going back to town for resupply and help, the Kesh Daniel (another strangely human name for the alien) staying to help play "Canary" in the caves. Apparently they employed the alien because their powerful sense of smell is a boon in the mining industries to cheap for atmospheric sensors.

The new vassals slowly stand and look around in confusion before they are driven to their knees with a brush of your will sending shocks of pain into their chests. You mentally flood them with your will and commands and the two humans stand shakily before returning to the shuttle. The craft hums and soon it takes off once Jor got his reply as an affirmative.

Your minions have finished the shell of the Cauldron and all that was needed now was the chemical batch. You were pleased when Jor says that a lot of them could be excused as machine parts and mining chemicals, particularly the strong acids that were key to breaking down corpses.

Jor and Daniel retreat to the dining area to obey the simple and wasteful need to eat, the two sitting in silence. You note the meat they ate would work as biomass, recalling Jor say the farms raised a form of alien herd beast native to this world.

The undead wait for their next commands, standing guard at the doorway and peering out into the valley, one of the human undead carrying the discarded slug-pistol.

You watch through the eyes of your newly dominated as they near the colony. Ugly metal and industrial plastic domes and rectangles form the main bulk of the colony re-purposed from the initial colony dropship. Additional buildings made of stone and sod covered homes make up the fringes and you spot farm buildings off in the distance at the foot of the hills. Large herds of stout six-legged creatures roam and graze on the plains, workers on hover skiffs helping keep the herds together.

The shuttle lands on a platform, several nearby platforms empty or containing shuttles of their own. A human stands waiting for them as your dominated vassal disembarks and repeats your words echoing in his mind. Automated drones start loading up the shuttle with waiting crates and you only have to wait half an hour before the rest arrive with the supplies.

A few words later and the shuttle takes off heading back for the mine.
>>
>>42843584
The shuttle lands and drones from the mine move out to unload the supplies. You pat the humans on the shoulders, the men shaking with barely contained fear at your presence, "Well done," you compliment them and you can feel their confusion to your amusement.

Your undead minions pour the chemicals into the Cauldron at your instructions. The large stone and metal bowl was nearly ten feet across and just as deep. This was only a temporary and crude form of the massive vats that you one held aboard your fleets that could churn out dozens if not hundreds of your warriors.

Your living minions you have hole up silently in their living area, the trio of undead surrounding the cauldron. Chanting in the language of the dread Wormstar snap off one of your own fingers and reach into your armor to retrieve a rib. Casting your own bones into the Cauldron it bubbles and churns, the off-green liquid boiling and becoming black as pitch.

Nodding to one of the humans they climb up the stairs embedded into the side and slips into the liquid calmly even as you watch their flesh bubble and slide away from their bones.

You do not have long to wait and soon a three-clawed hand grabs the rim. Dragging itself from the Cauldron your newest minion emerges.

Humanoid their body was covered in thick chitin and bone like your own armor, the body lean and compact. Teeth formed into sharp fangs and fingers into talons it had no eyes, its face a smooth dome of bone that could sense and track heat and electrical signals. It kneels before you and you nod, satisfied.

This is only the beginning of your return.

Your shadow shall fall over the Galaxy.

And Death will grow in its path.
