______________________________

You see stars, countless stars swarming around you. Your eyes open as you continue to stare at their movements. You are hovering in nothingness, simply suspended in this sea of lights. They instil a sense of place within you and separation. You feel to urge to be close to every single star but doing so would detach you from the others. A dreadful feeling to be sure.

The dark abyss beyond these swarming stars also fills you with unease, it is almost as if the stars are holding it back from ensuing onto you. You can't help but shiver at this. After a long moment of mulling over these sensations several stars move closer to you, within reach. They are small and you large.

There are several kinds the urge to grab them is large. The first is a small white star, giving off a calming aura you can see wisps of white colour curling around its form. The second is red but larger than the white, looking upon its form gives more flow to your blood, your heart pumps harder allowing you to feel it thudding in your chest. The third is yellow, singular and has no distinctive marker other than it looks like the one from your world. The forth is glowing a sickly brown surface, black tendrils flickering upon it, almost like those from the tower. The urge to reach out is becoming too much.

The urge overpowers your control with hand extending you exert one last push in the direction of the white star. The calming force is extremely welcome right now. After the events that have occurred. Your hand wraps around the molten exterior and clamps down as the soothing heat sinks into your skin. The veins within your hand spark up with white blood, the flowing liquid beneath your skin quickly crawling up your arm. You would panic but the ensuing calmness has you watching with interest.

This white essence reaches your chest and your mind before you feel a presence. Like someone breathing down your neck although this feeling comes from all around you, surrounded in a crowd that you cannot see. It's disconcerting to say the least. Though as quickly as the feeling came it vanished, along with the white power that had replaced your blood.

You glance around the star lit void for anything. Then a soothing female voice speaks, words honeyed in charm.

"There you are... Hero. We are united once more, tell me. Your name..."

You freeze for a second. You've not used your name for a long time.

'Eric Lanthen' you think before the voice gives a murmur of appreciation.

"That is the name within this iteration. Very well, Eric Lanthen."

You question what the thing that is speaking to you actually IS, the thoughts flowing through and being picked out by it.

"I am one of those who granted you blessings to fight against the demon lord. We are numerous but I am one, few of our kind decided to try to open up a new contract. Others turned from you. You... vanished from our plane, five of us followed and you... chose me. My power here is not as it was. My touch will grant you faster healing, my touch will sooth your wounds, my touch will guide you. I fear we will not be able to speak once you leave the bridge between existences. Know that I will follow you, that my hand shall rest upon your shoulder as the story weaver guides you."

You open your mouth to reply but the stars have vanished and so has her voice. Your mind drowns within itself and uncontrolled dreams take you.

It isn't until several hours later that you awake, you stir somewhat, feeling the leaf bedding below you. The ceiling seems to be long intertwined leaves also. You glance around this small hut like structure, dear gods your head hurts. In sight is the exit, glaringly bright in your night eyes. You hear voices talking outside.

Your first instinct is to look for your sword, and damn right. It's the best sword you've ever had and you'll be damned to hell before you let it go again. It was painful enough to break it stabbing a demon lord, but losing it by being knocked out by a pig orc? You shake your groggy head, sitting up quietly and looking around the hut. Nothing at all in here, other than the bedding and a bowl. You slowly and nakedly crawl to the entrance, slowly to allow your eyes to get used to the light.

Soon enough you're looking into a campsite, a small fire is burning and around it several people are talking quietly. They seem to be in a uniform kind of armour, only one of them. A female with a tooth necklace seems to be of any distinctive interest. You get the feeling to really try and not fight her without some kind of blessing, and or fifty feet of distance and a crossbow.

You look away from them, scanning the camp for any sign of your sword. In fact you spot it after a short time, leaning against a tree a quarter ways around the camp. The only problem is your tent is facing towards the camp and going out will almost certainly get you spotted.

You hunker down and start listening in on them. They speak your language that's for sure, though the accent isn't anything you've heard before. The female of the group speaks.

"So, we're actually going to stay in this place? We lost over a third of our men after the clash with the dark spawn. We won't be able to hold off against another scouting party larger than that."

A man with black raven hair replies. "Yes well, be thankful that boy distracted them or more of us could be laying dead. We' gunna need to stick round these parts before returnin' you know how Grev is like when what he wants don't happen."

"I know that well enough..." She lets out a long sigh. "Right, so we finish up here. What about the naked... boy?"

He goes into thought before holding a finger up in the air. "We dump him. No sweat off our back right? 'sides, we can't babysit while we're out in this place."

"True enough Will but he did help us. I would not be able to leave him so easily. He did right even if it was foolish."

The rest of the troop brood over this before nodding. Will seems put off by the concept of helping you. The rest of the conversation edges off into chatter between twos or a three.

You pull yourself together and right yourself, as quietly as possible you begin to move, sneaking expertly out from the tent on your bare tiptoes. Slinking forwards you hold your breath, not daring to look at the group to your right.

It seems that all goes well until your toes press down on a piece of rotten wood, somehow managing to not crack it but instead have a splinter sink up into your poor flesh. You hold your voice and emit a very small whimper.

Nothing seems to happen though so you continue, about three forths of the way to your sword you hear a rustling and then.

"THE NAKED BOY!"

You jump up in the air like a startled cat and look around. The woman and two of the several men are standing up. Now that she's completely facing you, you can spot a rather nasty scar on the side of her head.

"Look, I'm sorry for pointing this sword at you, but if you bring me some clothes we can talk without anyone getting stabbed. Me included."
>>
>>42759143
I like this.
>>
Your first instinct is to sprint at your sword. Thankfully since you were so close they had no chance to beat you there. So halfway between the camp and your position they stop seeing you raise your blade and take a stance at them. They all eye you but only the female draws her sword, tilting her head in a frown.

"So kid... Are you crazy?"

You look between them before very slightly lowering your blade. "No, I'm sorry for this whole situation but I need clothing. So could you get me some so we can talk without you setting stabbed to death? Or me for that matter."

You stare at one another for a long awkward silence before she rather obviously glances down between your legs only to make a disgruntled face. "Kyle, get him some spare clothes. It'd be better on all of us."

One of the men around the camp-fire stands up and heads off to the side of the camp. Returning after a longer moment of very awkward silence. He carries some regular travelling clothing only to throw them over at your feet.

You give a small sigh before looking to them. "Could you... Step back a little while I dress?"

They give a 'look' to you and step back somewhat, giving you space to lay down your sword and start to put on the spare clothing. Its actually quite comfortable and well made. This has you smile somewhat.

"So... Sorry about the sword pointing but, wasn't the best situation i've woken up to. There's a few worse ones mind you... The time with the orc and the tiefling that was a wild night very close to my worst night also."

The group gives you funny looks, two mouthing 'orc' and 'tiefling' with confused expressions. You continue even if none of them replied to you.

"Guessing you lot took out those assholes? Can't believe that lucky shot... Anyway, how come i'm naked... Also my sword was not near me, made me panic like hell."

The female of the group speaks up at this. "You didn't have clothes on when you charged past us at the 'arseholes'. Also your sword was away from you because we just didn't put it in yer' tent is all."

You pause at this before letting out a sigh, now fully dressed.

You both stare at one another for a few moments before you slightly raise your hand. "So, I'll start then. Hello, my name is Eric. What is your name?" You make sure to give a small pause between every single word so she can grasp the dry sarcasm behind it. "Also, where am I exactly?"

The armoured group share looks with one another and you realise they do this quite alot. The female stands forward and then speaks.

"I'm Kaylin Bechet, we're a small company of... I guess you could call us mercs. Though not the nasty kind, believe me. Right now? You're deep in the wilds, you don't know this? Anyone with any kind of direction wouldn't get this far south without a screw loose. Now that I mention this, we did witness you running at darkspawn like a creature from the fade. Of all the infernal things you could have done, what were you thinking!"

You frown. "I was thinking i'd kill them and be done with it... I miscalculated is all..."

She looks both bemused and in shock of that comment.

You tilt your head at her words, speaking up. "So, what exactly are darkspawn? Also, the fade?"

She looks at you in the way of someone looking at a dog chasing its own tail only for it to run head first into a wall. Needless to say it makes you frown.

"Darkspawn..." She says slowly. "Are the things you ran up to, screaming and naked before you got your head bashed in. That reminds me, how are you even awake so soon after that?"

You give a wave of your hand, casually brushing her question aside. "The fade? What is it?"

Kaylin moves her hand up to her face and slowly rubs it while releasing a very long sigh of exhaustion. "The fade is the realm we go to when we dream, where the magic-folk get their power? You know, the thing thats mentioned in children stories and... everywhere. How hard did you knock your head?"

She and several of the men sigh, she gives you a nod. "It's aright kid, you did help us back there."

"I suppose I did. So, what's going to happen next then?"

She glances to the rest of the group before looking back to you. "I don't expect you to make it out of the wilds so, you can stick with us while we do our job. Artefact hunting it is, help around the camp, don't cause trouble and you'll fit right in. Aright?"

You give a small nod looking quite unsure of the situation. This isn't slaying a demon lord, you're not comfortable in this situation for the most part. The group seems to settle down after this, Kaylin gives you a short nod before heading back to the camp fire.

You give a small sigh and pick up your sword, heading over to the edge of the camp before readying yourself into a fighting stance. You feel eyes on you but you ignore it, turning and swishing your sword. It's mediocre, you're really not used to fighting without the blessings. Having the power to dash forward by ten meters or slash with unmatched power. So you go through basic movements. It's relaxing in its own way and you start to get used to the lack of power.

You keep going for almost an hour, only stopping once for a short break. It seems that you're not fatiguing easily, perhaps it's because of the white sun... A calming aura sets over you as you picture it, not powerful but definitely noticeable for you. You look to your sword and prepare to continue practice.

You felt the calming aura and decide to roll with it. The best thing to do would be to gain strength from the one blessing you seem to have. So closing your eyes you focus on the mental image of the white sun. Instantly yours veins give an odd pulse and your blade moves throughout the air in swift and delicate slashes. The blade moves with a finesse that you thought you never had and soon your vaulting yourself around, striking at the tree closest to you. With eyes narrowed your body twists.

The deep gash through the tree causes leaves to fall and before you can stop yourself your blade moves like that of a rapier, expertly stabbing almost every leaf that falls from above. You feel extactic and a wild chuckle of glee escapes your throat before it's suddenly cut off. The blessing twangs away from you and you fall down onto your back, sweating with cramped muscles. You see Kaylin standing over you, looking intrigued.

"That was some show! Why'd you not do that against those darkspawn?"
