A full platoon of MPs are waiting to greet you at the drive-thru loop of the base's brig/security headquarters. They swarm the vehicle swiftly, slapping two pairs of cuffs on the comatose Shigure before they've even pulled her out of Arizona's arms. She's swept away in the classic two-person drag, trailed by an MP following her with a Barret light .50 firm against his shoulder, the huge muzzle trained on the center of her back.

“That's optimistic,” Kitakami observes wryly. You watch them go with sourness brewing in your stomach - the sheer shrill panic of the MP as Sammy slowly but surely bent her cell's bars open was moderately amusing... when it was Sammy. An identical cell is now tasked with holding a stronger girl (by the plant KW, at least,) who just shoved a cannon in your mouth and meant to use it.

It's not funny anymore.

Kitakami reclines in the back seat, elbow atop the door and chin propped in her hand. Her dark eyes regard you unfavorably in the rearview mirror. “You're an idiot.”

You sigh, resisting the urge to glance askance at Arizona - even she's not taking your part this time, you know damn well. “You have a better idea?”

“I was handling it. Like you *asked* me to. And then-”

“Yeah, Kitakami, god's chosen destroyer diplomat,” you return, slamming the stick into first gear and popping the clutch, sending the jeep back into base traffic with a squeal and a lurch. “Because that was working so well. She was about to blow your head off.”

“You'd rather she blow YOURS off?” Kitakami returns, looking away dismissively. “If she can't handle some bullying then she's no good in a real fight. She's useless, period.” She shrugs. “Why sacrifice yourself for that?”

So.

Eisenhower was fond of dividing tasks up based on if they were urgent and important, important but not urgent, urgent and unimportant, or not urgent and unimportant. For each group he would then do, decide when to do, delegate to someone else, and delete, respectively. We should do the same thing.

Urgent and important tasks now are corralling the corgis. Important but not (too) urgent is getting some psychological help, both for the girls and for ourselves and Hate.

Amen to that. FIRST! We round those corgis up and... Whatever is closest to court-marshaling them. I vote stripping them of their 'ship' bits, donating those to the egg-heads at the labs and sending the de-militarised corgis to the pound.

Next step will be making nice with Hate. He's the key to all this and we either need him on our side, brought into line (as if THAT'LL ever happen short of the infinite power of Christ and the Joint Chiefs...) or back stateside.

The catch with Hate, I suspect, is that he won't be mollified with words. Dealing with him will require us to have a definite plan. Something for him to actually do and feel like he's not just sitting on his ass and dicking around with the dogs. The easiest being of course, letting him go to Iwo, if the JSDF haven't left already. Or letting him show off his project, giving it complicit and unspoken approval. Additionally, we've seen the corgies require constant supervision. So maybe someone to split the load with him. That requires A) finding someone else who can find the dogs and B) knowing that Hate will have more free time to do....iunno but he's a resourceful sumbitch.

Consider the following:

>Saw plenty of shit in the sand- the kind of fighting where everything's fucked, your enemy is everywhere and nowhere and impossible to pin down, etc etc.
>And then, at LA, he got pulled- literally- into probably the most clear cut fight of his life. Something straight out of the history books where his enemy was there, he was on his gun, and he could have and almost did die happy from that honest exchange of murder.
Since then he basically hasn't had ANY fights, honest or otherwise. He's Bored, not in the funny marine way but in the "still reeling from the high of having purpose he felt on Iowa's deck" sense. The happiest he's been is when he's been working to unfuck Willie and beating up fat japs, and that still doesn't compare to an actual fucking fight.

Is that our fault and/or problem? Not necessarily. We really do need him not-dead-on-a-beach, though we also need him sane of course. Here's hoping his bullshit from Yamato works out because that's basically his best bet at a ticket to avoid going stir crazier.

So how about we make Hate the head of a team of corgi handlers? Create a way where we can control the corgis reliably, so we have small corgi packs working together as an even larger pack?

We also turn a blind eye to the Marines' inevitable attempts to use the corgis like the shipgirl's water shoes so they could go board abyssal boats

>>42743562
Extreme, yes, but they attacked an allied ship, while they're PERFECTLY capable of knowing better. They risked critical allied assets and could have destabilised the entire Pacific alliance! They are to be subject to the uniform code of military justice; that's what the -uniform- part means! No-one, no matter how critical, is above the law and by laying it down on them, we secure the peace of mind of our other assets and let rowdy elements know they will not escape punishment in the future.

Hate is an officer of the USMC, and if he released the Corgis he is guilty of dereliction of duty. Settle has also fucked up a lot lately, though putting himself in danger to save Shigure is arguably what his duty was. In any case I think recent events justify a "come to Jesus" moment with Hate and Settle where they can unfuck themselves and start acting like professionals.

What do we do if it was Sammy?
Unfortunately, I think >>42743665 is right; though they look like people and dogs, these are actually ships and they get treated as such.
So we don't have the authority to decommission them, and I'm not sure if we even have the authority to do any real punishment except to punt it up to Admiral Thomas.
As the person in charge of the 7th Fleet, he might have enough authority to mete out punishment.

But anyway, since they're ships, not people or dogs according to how the USN is treating them, I'm not confident that they could be court-martialed.

>Saw a bit of shit, not nearly as much as Hate but not green
>And then, at LA, literally everybody on his bridge except for him died. He gave orders, he lead, but apart from the pain in his leg it's men and women who fought and died all around him to make it actually work.
>And then he got paraded around as a goddamn hero for surviving when his decisions got his people killed. Even when they were the right decisions. Even when they were the best he or they could have done, they died and he didn't.
So now he's got a complex as big as Yamato about people dying for the sake of his orders. Even if they're the right decisions, even if they're perfectly willing to go into harms way and are capable of it, he still wishes that he would have been the one who died on that bridge, not everybody else.
Hence why he has trouble helping it when the opportunity to shield a battleship with his broken human body. Fuck, he even did it with Kaga and Akagi.

Hate interprets that behavior as basically waifu white-knight faggotry, as opposed to survivor's guilt. Settle interprets Hate's exasperation with the situation as petulant jarheadery, as opposed to wanting the chance to make a fucking difference like he did as LA and lacking any way to do that
>>
>>42743822
>Did you also forget the fact that Settle gave them a direct order to stop and they ignored it?

If the Corgis can't be trusted to follow orders and not attack Allied personnel, then they really need to be somewhere else. Yokosuka is one of the most heavily defended naval ports on earth so their presence is not strictly required. Getting them transferred out to Puget Sound or somewhere they won't go after allied ships/personnel would be quite justified if we can't bring them to heel.

That said Settle is a Rear Admiral. Surely he can get more personnel assigned to his command to help Hate deal with the Corgis?

Of course he doesn't. If it gets him a clean fight between himself and obviously uniformed enemies, what does he care if he's leading platoons of men to die, right?
Or that we don't have any facilities to keep an Abyssal contained, let alone any of our own shipgirls/PT's.
Or that bringing a captured Abyssal back to base before we try to understand how they capture land facilities could end up with all of Yokosuka turning into an Abyssal base.

Kinda like how Settle is a Rear Admiral and yet keeps acting like a Captain and going on (internally at least) about the weight of responsibility. Going from this, Hate is still absolutely correct that Settle's getting too worked up and personal with his command decisions- I'm not saying we should aspire to being a watch-wearing dildo or anything, but laughing maniacally and throwing your headset across the CIC because you're upset are not good behaviors for a commander to have.
Getting SO FUCKING MAD that you summon a heavy cruiser also isn't healthy, but the results can let that one slide

And Settle is still totally right that Hate slinking around like a bitchy cat because he has to do things he doesn't want to do isn't helping ANYBODY when we're stretched past the breaking point on manpower as it is.

In conclusion, thank fucking god for Wainwright and Wo-ass

PT boats are good raiding craft, but not significant in fleet engagements. And keeping them around to basically do nothing when they've shown the willingness to not only attack allied personnel but also disobey a direct order from a rear admiral, combined with the fact that you can't really discipline them means that they're going to wind up causing trouble.

At the very least, we need to get someone other than Hate who's not a shipslut to babysit them.
>>
>>42743853
You know, speaking of survivor's guilt, that may potentially give us an in with Shigure in case we end up pursuing that plot thread further personally. I'd wager most of Shigure's issues (below the obvious shunning stuff, which really is just an exacerbating factor) are rooted in survivor's guilt, so we can maybe connect with her over that commonality.
>>
>>42744093
Well take a look at what happened with Porter, since the entire crew was held responsible the ship itself was forced to stay in Bermuda for the duration of the inquiry.

>Kancolle canon also has it as a rule that only Axis ships come back as shipgirls and that Allied ones come back as Abyssals.

Someone hasn't been keeping up with the game. There's plenty of Abyssals that are definitely Axis and even IJN (protip: the IJN was the only service to ever field torpedo cruisers).

The big reason the Allies don't come back as kanmusu is that American AA would completely break the game...
>>
>>42744256
And then a week later Planefag has an abyssal harbor attack and we'll be hitting ourselves for getting rid of them.

Also Sammy would be livid.

Oh, also-
We shouldn't be using "going Abyssal" interchangeably with a shipgirl going rogue and killing people. There are concrete physical differences between Kanmusu and Abyssals- the chitinous nightmare hulls, the pale skin and shark teeth, the body horror of some of their noncombat hull-bodies.

A shipgirl going rogue/crazy is still an extremely real concern and something to be avoided, but let's not say it's the same thing as transforming into one of those Things without good evidence that there's actually a connection.

But as it has been pointed out, the USN will likely cover this up. As an example, the shooting down of Iran Air 655; the captain, who was characterized as unnecessarily aggressive by his fellows and who basically broke all the rules, was neither disciplined or removed from command, and still got his Legion of Merit medal.

Optionally, we find out more about the Abyssal supply routes and staging bases, which has been hinted at several times by Deme to be a bitching idea. Not to mention they're great for pinning down subs, as we saw in that press release Goto was heading up last thread. Or swarming small Abyssal destroyers, again, like we saw video of in that press release.

“Shipgirls are more than weapons,” you snap, shifting into second and roaring past a slowpoke actually adhering to the base speed limit. “You've already fought one war for us. We owe you something for that, even if you never fight again.”

“Yeah,” Kitakami says dryly. “But you owe cruisers and carriers more, right? Since you sent the destroyers into that meatgrinder to cover them, and all.” Your hands squeak on the steering wheel as you crush the faux leather in your grip. “Did you hear there's a war on, Admiral?”

“I fired the opening shots,” you snap back, shifting into third as you thunder back towards the north docks, back towards the party - and the small motor launch that'll take you to the nearby island shore where the ship-girl range is set up, facing the distant targets on the breakwater. “And that ship was more than a *weapon* to me, too.”

“More than weapons?” Kitakami marvels, looking out over the scenery sedately. “...Maybe. That doesn’t change the fact that we're built to kill, head to toe. She didn't even need a cannon at the rate you were going. Probably would have just ripped an arm off.”
>>
>>42744303
Why the fuck would I be keeping up with the game? Browser-based RNGesus that I have to use a VPN to access? No thank you.
>>
“What was I supposed to do? It's my JOB!” You snap, wrenching the wheel around, causing the rear tires to skid around a curve as you near the docks.

“An attack dog is more than a gun, Settle, but you don't see me petting them,” Kitakami returns levelly as the Jeep screeches to a halt just past the party pavilion. Several people both human and shipsloot look up, voices raised in greeting, but you stomp right past them, heading for the motor launch. Tossing your cane down from the dock, you leap after it, swearing a blue streak as your right thigh explodes in agony on landing. Your snarls mingle with the outboard's as you crank it violently. It catches with a throaty roar. Seizing the tiller, you gun it for everything it's worth as you slam it to one side, whipping the boat's nose towards the open bay, and open up the throttle. The outboard screams with power, kicking up a massive rooster tail as you race absolutely fucking nowhere.

The engine sputters to an idle as you turn to look back over your shoulder, knowing damn well you cast off the line. You find it hooking around the stanchion and over to Arizona, who's standing well clear of the spray, the line wrapped around one hand. She's giving you her usual level-headed look plus a slight narrowing of the eyes. She tugs on the line gently to say that she'll reel you in if you don't feel like kicking it into reverse for her.

>Fine wtf ever

Arizona is Settle's bodyguard. She is in place to protect Settle from angry shipgirls, Abyssals, Yakuza assassins, Chinese commandos, or any other threat that might come his way. Allowing her to do her damn job is in fact one step on the road to behaving like a professional.

We're getting on a boat and leaving Yokosuka. Unless the Corgi's are actively following us, I doubt Hate brought any with him. Kinda would ruin his whole 'I'm not doing this dogsitting shit anymore' schtick.

And we shouldn't give him anymore ammunition than absolutely necessary when going into this.

And another reason: Before Arizona or any of the other shipgirls, there was Hate and Settle. It just doesn't feel right bringing other people to this.

The problem I have with the Iwo Jima strike team is, why would we even send in humans?
Even if Hate's weapon turns out to be workable, what about armor?
The fact that Abyssals are firing what is essentially artillery right at anyone coming at them?
The only thing that can stand up to that is an actual ship or a kanmusu.
It's not like combat armor is going to be able to stop shots fired by an Abyssal.

And even if combat armor does stop the fire from an Abyssal's fairies on the ground, we aren't there for the fairies, but for an intact Abyssal.
So really, what is he going to do?

Actually, no, she wasn't.
She wasn't at the docks when we got there, and Hamp left without her.
Hamp doesn't give a fuck, so why would you depend on him to take care of a destroyer he doesn't care about?
>>
>>42744904

Well, maybe besides Warspite slaughtering a bunch of german ships at Norway, Washington sneaking up on an demolishing Kirishima, Bismarck one shotting Hood, etc few battleships in WWII got any major crowning moments by themselves.
>>
>>42744938
No, no. This is the time to remember that instance in case we NEED to bring it up as an argument.

You don't go into an argument with a plan for what you're going to say.
You go in with things that you CAN say if you need to, and go from there. Otherwise it's a lecture, not a discussion.

>A way for humans to even the game.
All that does is give humans a way to hit an Abyssal before getting turned into a fine mist by return fire.
Not to mention, the only way to make these weapons is by taking them from our own shipgirls, meaning that for the time it takes for the gun to grow back, that shipgirl is going to be down a cannon or three.

I'm leery of turning soldiers into kamikaze units that also weaken our own ships at the same time.
Sure, if we had a few weeks or months where we wouldn't have to deploy our battleships, this might be a good idea. But we don't know when we'll need to sortie, so it seems like it's not so good.

Can agree with rounding up the dogs as short term. Long term is repairing the gulf between Hate and Settle I'd think. Which begins with giving him "real shit to do" to paraphrase him. Giving him Sammy or Willie to train to also tend the dogs is a good move. I think asking after the project might help in the I-Am-Speaking-As-Your-Friend bit, but again gives unspoken implicit approval which is something we should be super careful about.

>>42744938
It's not that he doesn't give a shit about the boats! It's that he thinks he is doomed to be a doggy daycare as opposed to doing what he was trained to do. Ya know, trained, bled, sweat and sacrificed to be Really Fucking Good At Breaking Shit, and here he is tending a firing range for a bunch of shipsluts, and taking dogs for walkies while his friend/CO dicks around with carriers (or fails to) and has issues all across base.

Sure, I can get behind that.
But if we do, we should tell Hate that this is what he's endorsing, what he is agreeing to.
Leading people to die just so we can test out some new weapon on the enemy.

It IS what is done in war, but I'd like to know if Hate understands what he's saying. I think he just wants the glory and doesn't care about the lives of others.

Then he'll argue that he should be allowed to go alone with just other shipgirls with him in the assault. Which I'd let him if he can get someone else to keep the Corgi's in line.

You heave an annoyed sigh and twist the throttle back the other way, sending the RIG backwards with a murmur of slow-turning blades. You halt it a foot from the towering concrete wall of the dock with an expert flick of the wrist and restrain yourself from drumming your fingers on the inflatable gunwhale - you didn't mean to ditch her, you just weren't thinking of passengers or tagalongs at all, intent on your goal. With the RIG stable in calm waters, you look up at the dock to find Arizona already climbing down the rope ladder hung from a heavy stanchion... and you've got a great view up her skirt.

Dark, navy-blue panties that match her short skirt, covering the hips - sensible, modest, but for the lace trim around the edges. The sharp contrast with her white stockings and pale thighs rivets your attention as she descends, firm, muscular buttocks flexing fascinatingly beneath the thin cotton. You manage to tear your eyes away as she drops the last few feet into the boat, staring straight out to sea. A few seconds later, Kitakami lands in the boat as well; sticking her landing with considerably more grace than you managed.

The dark-haired torpedo cruiser looks at you with honest bafflement in her eyes. “Did you find what you were looking for?”

You shrug noncommittally and gun the engine hard to drown out any further inquiries. “RIG” stands for “Rigid-Inflatable-Gofast,” in other words an inflatable boat with a deeper draft and heavier keel; not ideal for beach insertions but much faster and better-handling in open or heavy seas. The little boat roars over to the adjoining island (you search your memory for the proper Japanese name and come up sorely empty,) angling for the concrete dock that covers the east end of the island. Even over the thunder and whipping spray of the boat's transit you can hear the throaty, heavy booms of a shipgirl's main battery firing its miniature practice shells at the distant breakwater. Kitakami hurls the line over a small stanchion and reels you in. You struggle up the short ladder before Arizona or Kitakami have a chance to help (or decline to help) you up. Should've waited for high tide, dammit.

You're halfway to the row of stalls lined up against the east edge of the island when a fresh spate of firing reaches your ears, a heavy, staccato WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP WHUMP. Near the breakwater you see the splashes of miniaturized practice shells flying into the air, rainbows glistening briefly in their spray. With the sound cover you're able to creep up within a dozen feet - Hate is pressing a heavy looking weapon to his shoulder, and Yamato is hovering by his shoulder, bouncing slightly on her heels with barely-restrained excitement.

That son of a bitch.

That dirty rotten two-faced *Marine.*

Sadly, the "firecrackers at the feet" thing is (or at least used to be) commonplace on military firing ranges; the idea was to test how well you'd shoot in actual combat by introducing an unanticipated stress/fear-inducing element. By randomly throwing strings of lit firecrackers between people's feet.

Let me rephrase that.
It's ultimately useless for the current conflict.

On top of requiring the sidelining of something that's ACTUALLY useful (I.e, seman schooners) all it does is give a rifleman one or two shots at an Abyssal before getting waxed. Given the punishment Abyssals can take, that's not a good idea.
If you can land an effective fighting force in an area that Abyssals control, and still have a reasonable chance of extraction, then you can use a battle group.

The average infantry combat range is 20-30 meters with combat very rarely going out past 150 meters. Even at a 150 meters, he could easily still take shrapnel from those shells. Nevermind the fact that it'll feel like getting punched in the chest by a boxer each time.

Good question. I keep imagining the war won't be done until we've put the last of the last abyssals down--maybe someday we'll be trading blue flame with black-shelled triremes.

I don't HATE the idol thing... okay, it's complicated. I don't mind performing, singing--I don't mind my audience. They're not really so bad, same as anyone else with a different bag of issues.

It's... well, I can't talk about it. Sort of defeats the purpose of being a cheerful idol if you aren't, you know?
>>
I wonder if Yamato has watched Space Battleship Yamato (any of the versions, although I'm fond of the most recent one).

White Plains

the CVE that later went on to oneshot Chokai with a single 5" deck gun
>>
>>42746489
Except he hasn't got anywhere close to the appropriate fire control to handle it at ranges like that
>>
>>42746489
Without some excellent optics, hitting the broadside of a hotel would be difficult enough, to say nothing of a roughly human sized target. And if you can hit them, they can hit you.
>>
>>42746513
Sounds like you need either a someone to talk to about this shit you can trust, or an outlet for some of this stuff.
>>
>>42746530
That is why you use modern day precision techniques based on visual guidance.
>>
>>42746527
>>42746530

He'd be a pretty shit marine if he can't hit a fucking boat with irons from 800 yards.
>>
>>42746489

Almost certain he developed this so he could go kick the shit out of them on land.

The gun would be even more worthless if he was trying to engage sea going ships with it. There's literally no way an unassisted human aiming a weapon like a rifle is going to hit anything at any normal naval ranges. And if he tries to close with ships, he's asking to get mauled by some Abyssal turning their AA guns on him
>>

Watch Macross Frontier. Episode 20. Sheryl in the bunker.

Just saying, you don't need to be cheerful 24/7 to be an idol. Sometimes, it's better to let the audience cry along with you.

Even in a face-centric, "showing emotions in public is childish" sort of place like Japan.
>>
>>42746550
>800 yards
Are you ASKING to get chewed up by secondaries?
Because that's how you do it.
>>
>>42746549
Like what?
>>
>>42746581
Maybe that's why idols are so popular in Japan - you can project your own emotions and feelings that you aren't normally (allowed) to express.
>>
>>42746549

It's a rifle. I have no idea what kind of visual technique you plan on using that would allow someone with a rifle to hit human sized targets from 4 km away and regular ship sized ones from more than 6.

>>42746550

There's literally no way he gets within 800 yards of an Abyssal without eating secondaries/AA fire. And if he's using it on land, most infantry combat happens in ranges where using it would be suicide.

Hate resumes fire, the heavy weapon in his hands kicking like a mule with each discharge. It's fully automatic and has an impressive rate of fire, the remainder of its drum emptying in a few seconds, followed by a pattern of splashes far downrange. He slides his earpo down around his neck and lays his new toy on the table in front of him, giving Yamato a huge, wicked grin.

“Oh, it works,” he says with relish. “It works *great.*”

“WHICH ONE?” you roar, loud enough to make Hate jump a bit, “YOUR RIFLE OR YOUR GUN?” His hand makes a quick little circular wax-on motion near his hip which you recognize as an aborted draw. Instead he deploys the Hateface, which is as succinct a way to describe the closed, narrow-eyed expression he projects when he wants you to fuck off, but can't spare the fucks to flip you the bird. You step in close, returning his dark scowl with your noses almost touching. You see him tensed for anything; dark hissing maledictions and imminent violence both brewing in his stormy eyes.

You lean in a few mi limiters closer, still staring him down, and whisper: “Date.”

Hate blinks.

“This is a date, Hate.”

Hate blinks again, storm dissipating into cloudy confusion.

“You're DATING Yamato.”

He steps away from you with a snort. “Please, motherfucker. I'm not you.”

“Says the *Marine,*” you return flatly.

Hate kind of lean-looks at you, a leer without lewdness. He turns his aggressively obvious look on Arizona, and then back to you. “Yeah.”

You step back, spreading your arms out to ward off Arizona and Kitakami.

“What?” Kitakami asks.

“He's going to be struck by lightning any second now.”

Hate snorts again, turning his back to you as he starts popping 12 gauge shells into the top of the massive beta-C drum magazine, taking care to stack the rims. “Whatever. Deny it all you want. You show up with your shadow and a new chick in tow and deny skirt-chasing to my face?” He shoves the tenth round into the mag and flicks away the empty box, reaching for a new one. “When it gets somebody killed, just remember I told you SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHH-” Hate's cry is terminated by a tremendous splash as he hits the water. Arizona straightens up, crosses her arms and lifts her chin a bit as she sniffs at Hate.

And then Yamato shoves her in from behind.

BB-39, USS Arizona, one of the heaviest and best-armed battleships the United States has ever put upon the ocean blue emits the tiniest, highest-pitched squeak of alarm you've ever heard as she hits the water, thrashing her way to the surface a few seconds later. She glares up at Yamato darkly before snatching at her floating uniform jacket (worn over the shoulders as usual, given the day's already heating up) and pulling it closed over her modest chest. Yamato leans over and reaches out to pluck Hate from the water, her ample bosom swaying interestingly as she pulls your Marine out of the drink with a lovely, innocent giggle. You take a knee to reach down to Arizona, and find her glaring dirks and daggers at you, for some reason. Your hand dangles limply in air, and you're about to withdraw it when she slips her slender hand into yours. You grip it firmly, surprised at how delicate it feels in your big mitt. She squeezes back gently, her soft, smooth skin tickling your slightly calloused hand.

And then the godless whore yanks you into the damn water.

So is Hate just being willfully stupid here, or does he honestly not see that he's dissing on every serviceman who died in the protection of another ship, tank, bomber, base, position, or strategic resource?

Of course Settle should prioritise the preservation of the shipgirls; each one of them isn't just a girl, but also a goddamn warship.
A warship when we are engaged in a naval war against enemy warships.

And he thinks we should let carriers and battleships be damaged, taken out of the fight, and use up the precious time and resources of the ONE single person that has the skills and clearance needed to do repairs, for a handful of men's lives?

>You a frothing psycho with a death wish and a murderboner?

>Or are you a fucking Marine?

There's a difference?
>>
>>42747265

Settle should order Hate and Yamato immediately confined to quarters, and order a fucking meeting that is clearly fucking needed on this base.

There is a serious issue on this base, and clearly we need to get friggin support from command.

It is clear that there are a number of ship-persons with mental issues, and we need some fucking shrinks yesterday. We need better support or we are going to be dealing with a base full of mentally unstable ships.
>>
>>42747245
Oh, and might I add that that same Marine doesn't want to act his rank because he would rather play with guns.
>>
>>42747294

One of these implies they actually aren't wild fucking animals that need shock collars, just very close to it.
>>
>>42747245

You keep saying that like it's actually my fucking job. It isn't. I'm here for force protection and 'other duties as directed by commander, USSOCOM' end fucking quote. I got saddled with the dogs because for some fucking reason they listened. but it's not my fucking job.

For fucking real, how dense are you people. Navy boats... under marine command. yeah, fucking right. Every squid in the history of ever would shit collective fury so hard it'd knock us into a collision orbit with the fucking sun.
>>
>>42747170
That would be Settle and Naka.
>>
>>42747294
One gets the job done and the other just gets allies maimed and killed for their own personal glory?
>>
>>42747294
You're an explosives technician. You have to be insane to do that shit. You don't have to be crazy to be a marine.
>>
>>42747327
But will being the vindictive admiral really make your team respect you?
>>
>>42747294
As a soldier who guess got done deploying with a company of marines...

YES Yes there is.

Kill happy yes, but they know when to ring it I and do their jobs.
>>
>>42747333

Cry more. They said command, so fucking command. Unless the Department of the Navy DOESN'T sign your checks?
>>
>>42747332
>42747332

What many Anon fail to realize is the corgis are embodying fucking PT-boats, some of whom nearly torpedoed Allied Ships off Guadalcanal in WWII.
>>
>>42747265
We should have approached Hate in full ANGRY ADMIRAL form in the first place. His fucking playtime with Yamato almost got our head blown off literally and has cost use 1 shipslut who is now in no condition to fight and i doubt the Abyssal's are going to take a break so we can find a replacement.
>>
>>42747327
Seeing as how Yamato is NOT UNDER OUR COMMAND and Hate would probably love that lets not do that.
>>
>>42747327
Fucking relax, anon. Wait until the situation goes tits up before you throw it in the fire. We're doing fine, the mood has been lightened, stand the fuck down
>>
>>42747333
Assigning PT-boats to the Corps would be pretty much in line with their history of getting the Navy and Army's scraps.
>>
>1/ Kongou is about to destroy any credibility/confidense our whole joint operations have if we don't stop her.

why are people acting like this is a thing? Kongou isn't a problem until you don't have any real problems to deal with. Any time we've seen her when the cards were down, she was quite competent.
>>
>>42747361

They didn't have radar and its kinda hard to tell who is who in the dark.
>>
>>42747327
Sure, we can requisition that.

Just wait for a year until they get Yankee White clearance.
>>
>>42747361
They did?

How were we using them? As ways to fight near the shores? Or actually out in open water?

In conjunction with fleets? Or as guerrilla?
>>
>>42747333
Isn't Settle you commander?

And didn't he tell you to watch the boats?
>>
>>42747365
Too late now so we should just roll with it.

"Tonight, we're back with that monthly special: Something Completely Different. But before we we begin that segment, we should catch up on our mail.

Haruna from Yokosuka, Japan, writes, 'Please play this one for my sister. I look up to her very much.'

That's so sweet of you, Haruna. We'll make sure she gets this one."

and aren't we mad about the dogs?

Yes. Wacky water shenanigans. Because everything is fine.

The only way you ever might get your ass busted back down to Corporal is if people don't realize that the worst punishment is leaving you an officer.

So wear your damn rank insignia and act like you enjoy the job, LIEUTENANT Hate. Maybe then they'll be willing to demote you.
>>
>>42747414

Tat would have been much more appropriate given what just happened.
>>
>>42747258

PANIC
>>
>>42747440
Yamato pushed Arizona because she pushed Hate, who she's befriended.
She dragged us into the water because being mute doesn't mean she's a robot, and she's still annoyed that we won't let her be a fucking bodyguard when we ask her to.
>>
>>42747445

this could almost be titled "Lance Corporals" except the Lance Corporal has the expression of a man who knows he's being stalked by a tiger and is tensing for the moment it pounces as he formulates a plan to dodge it like Neo in the matrix.
>>
Look ... we clearly need to assert some authority here. But do think it's a good idea to bury the hatchet with Arizona first and make sure we're doing our job together. We may be the last two sane people on this base actually capable of fixing some of these problems. So make sure we're good with our BB, then deal with our Marine.

This is why I am not happy with Anon's responses
>>
>>42747365
I tried.

Problem with doing a write-in, though: by the time it's done, it's been a few minutes and there are already like fifty fucking votes in, so it has no chance of getting enough support before voting ends.
>>
>>42747440
This entire 'confrontation' was never going to be about anything but forcing Settle to suck the shit out of Hate's ass and call it chocolate, so it's going as expected.
>>
>>42747487

At some point we are going to have to pay the piper when it comes to putting our life on the line right in front of a battleship whose last admiral died putting his life on the line. We need to deal with that particular little piece of PTSD because if the destroyer with PTSD almost caused us to shit our pants imagine what a battleship is going to do to us ...

Yeah we can roll with it how? Just laugh this bit off then at the end add 'Oh by the way Hate the PT's you were supposed to be watching have been attacking allied shipgirls to the point that one's gone so far off the deep end we may have to scrap her so i'd expect to hear from command about a exciting new jobposting digging trenches in antarctica assumign they don't toss you in a stockade.

I think we haven't let that stew too dangerously. We as a thread are aware of it, we just need to work on it
>>
>>42747592
Sorry to be pedantic, but you cannot send a marine to Antarctica. The Antarctic treaties do not permit offensive weapons in Antarctica – and Marines are by definition offensive weapons ...

I forgot about that.

Her admiral and her captain.
>>
>>42747333
If you're here for force protection, then why aren't you doing that? What measures have you undertaken to mitigate hostile actions against Defense Department resources and personnel after your spat with Settle?

Sure, before you were doing an admirable job, but right now why are you not in contact with the BDOC about the incident with the PT boats? Or are they not considered DoD resources?

I think that'd be pretty much the same, actually. Both are so far above us in terms of power that there's hardly any difference from our perspective. 5 inch guns splatter a human just as well as 16 inch.
>>
>>42747390
There was a group of Allied ships resupplying. They hear chatter from PT boats over the radio; they say they've found a Jap convoy and were deciding whether or not to attack it. Gradually the Allied realize the boats are talking about *them*. They come on the radio to warn the PT boats off. It takes a few times to convince them, and they almost decide to attack anyway, "just to be safe".
