Well, today's thread was interesting to say the least. i don't know how to put this, i know i will upset someone one way or another but here it goes:

This thread , in the end, is made and destroyed by you. You shape the course and the end. However, this is not a ride where everything goes fine and dandy. No Orla died because we fucked up and so did Lilith. Yes, she could have died by Kills-many-whores but we didn't left her the chance. We didn't play by the rules set by the man with the bigger stick (Legate) and we paid for it.

I am not asking you to have one same taste. but if you don't like the 'wild ride' kind of threads with ups and downs then I am not the best QM for you. 1). You set Lilith up in a fight with a person who is an reputed killer of people with the exact same skills and training as Lilith.

tl;dr If you want to keep an avenue of approach open to your players you have to be be sure that your own description of events doesn't present that option as a meaningless choice.

While you are correct on a couple of things. Let me say what i have got.

What was the main purpose of throwing the grenade in the first place? they are stunned...then what? why would you do that in front of a blood thirsty mongrel how would have easily dispatched Lilith the moment she de cloaked?

I always try to give an option to give a back pedal option and yet none chose to idly sit and watch. you didn't have any power in this situation.

You also forgot other unknown variables. If it weren't for Sunny, the Legate would have killed us. Lots of these unknown variable were a factor in this thread til now.

If it worth something, I will try to emphasis on description giving hinting to possible outcomes.

Honestly I think you either underestimated or completly disregarded the (very) low probability of 1)your players allowing someone they consider a friend be murdered in front of them and 2) that your players actually would observe and agree with your a understanding that they were powerless in the situation.

You yourself used the words "idly sit and watch" to describe what your idea of what we should have done. Idly sit and watch while what appears to be a character your players greatly like be murdered in front of them.

How could you honestly expect a different outcome?

i thought she was fucked, i hoped that the blood knight thing would give her an advantage to recover from the stun faster and give her a solid advantage
but yeah, that didn't really work as planned
i also hoped that they wouldn't see us or the grenade, and think that the flash was just one of her tricks, but i felt like that was a risk to take because she was royally fucked
