"Yeah, I'll go over." Spending time with Maya has always been enjoyable. Hori seemed to be responsible enough to take care of the house by herself.

"Good... I kinda wanted to talk to you about something as well anyways." Maya tells you with a smile.

It was the first time that Maya has taken the initiative to talk to you. It got your curiosity going. "What did she want to talk to me about?"

Once you get to her house, it was just you and her again. Most of the times you've been to her house, the two of you have been alone. However, this time it felt different. This time you were more aware of her. "Aomine? What are you doing? Come inside."

"Yeah... Sorry." You shake your head to clear your mind as you head inside. "So what time does Kou usually get home?" Immediately, Maya goes into the kitchen to boil some water. This has been so routine for the two of you that her home felt like your home.

"Kou? He should be here in about an hour or so... He is usually late." She then takes out her phone and texts someone. "I should tell him to get some more groceries if he needs to cook us dinner." You kinda felt sorry for Kou, his older sister seemed to just boss him around all the time. After she texts Kou, she joins you at the heated table.

"Ah! Yes! I need to talk to you about something." The huge smile on her face made you a bit anxious. Why did Maya look so happy?

You thought about it for a second and the only one you could think of was your cousin. "We can invite Hori." Thinking about it a bit further, Hori probably hasn't made too many friends yet and will probably be left out of group making. "I mean she is still knew and she is my cousin so-"

Just then, Hori shows you a scowl as she clutches her lower abdomen. Was she really that mad at the thought of inviting Hori? She freezes in place, for almost a second then she apologizes. "S-Sorry about that. So you were saying Hori right?"

"Yeah..." You didn't know what just happened. "I mean she is my cousin and I thought I should take her of her until she makes friends you know."

She takes a deep breath. "I guess that's true..." Under her breath she whispers something almost inaudible. "If they are cousins then I should be sa..."

"Me? N-No, I didn't." She looks away as if she was trying to hide something. "I will say this though... Even though Hori is your cousin I won't go easy on her..."

"Well we are going to the southern islands for the trip... I won't lose to her at the beach!" She declares with a determined look on her face. Unfortunately her confidence only lasts a short amount of time as she starts to clutch her lower abdomen again. This time the look on her face was more pained than angry.

"Y-Yeah... I'm okay... It's just a little bit of cramps." She tries to force herself to smile through the pain. It seems like the cramps would come and go throughout the night, however, they start to get worse.

The duration when Maya was completely immobilized by the pain starts to grow in length. Although you didn't really know how painful it was, you could tell from Maya's face that it was getting worse. "Do you need me to get you anything? Like do you have medication for that?" You couldn't bear seeing her suffer like that.

"Actually... I should have some painkillers at our medicine cabinet... Would you mind getting them for me?" She gives you instructions on where to find them. Unfortunately when you got the bottle of pills, they were empty.

"I'll go to the pharmacy and get some more." Fortunately they were just over the counter pills.

"I'll go with you." Maya stands up and even though you tried to convince her to stay, she wouldn't listen. "Its okay... I really am okay." She smiles at you. "We just need to get them before the cramps start up again..." Time was of the essence and the two of you immediately head out to the pharmacy.

However, as soon as you exit her apartment, she notices something across the street. "Wait... Isn't that your apartment? The one with smoke coming out of it?" You were surprised, Maya immediately recognizes your apartment as if she has it memorized from watching you go in and out of it for the past few days.

"It is." You were shocked to see a thick, billow of smoke coming out from your window.

Maya turns to you. "Shouldn't you check it out? I really am okay. I can get the pills by myself you know. The pharmacy isn't that far away."

When you get to your apartment, it was utter chaos. Your younger sister, Yuki was crying in the living room. She was calling out your name, she must've been incredibly scared.

In the kitchen, you could hear Hori try and calm your sister down. "It's okay now Yuki, see we are safe!" Although she was trying to keep herself calm, a little bit of panic could be sensed in Hori's voice. You take a peek in the kitchen and you could see smoke everywhere. Fortunately, it seemed like the smoke was coming from one of pots on the stove.

Luckily your house wasn't on fire or anything like that. "Hori! What happened?!"

Immediately, Hori turns around to explain herself to you. "I am so sorry!" She bows to you over and over. "I was cleaning and then Yuki asked me to cook her something and then." You could tell she was in panic.

You grab onto her shoulders to calm her down. "Hori, for now we should clear the smoke okay?" It took about 10 minutes or so until the smoke clears." After the smoke clears up, your sister finally calms down and Hori was finally able to explain to you what happened.

That was when it it happened. Hori, thanks to cleaning, eventually forgot about what she was cooking and it started to burn. When she realized that something smelled like it was burning it was too late. "It happened so quickly... There was smoke everywhere and I started to panic." Hori did seem like a klutz but you never thought it would be this bad.

"I am sorry." Hori apologizes to you while on the verge of tears.

As you raise your hand to massage the bridge of your nose, Hori reacts in an interesting fashion. She flinches to protect herself. Did she think you were going to hit her or something? "Hori, it's fine." You tell her. "As long as nobody got hurt that's all that matters." You look around the place and it was still quite a mess. "Just clean up for now okay? Wait a little, I'll bring you guys back some food."

The terror in Hori's eyes as you raised your hand was replaced by relief as you tell her it's fine. "O-Okay... I'll make sure to make it spotless."

On your way to Maya's apartment you looked at your watch. It's been twenty minutes since you told her you would check out the place. "I wonder if she is mad at me for taking too long..." You whisper to yourself. Knocking on her door you try and call out to her. "Maya, I'm back."

Unfortunately there was no answer. "Hmm... Did she go to sleep or something?" You remember the first time this happened to you. "Hmm it can't be unlocked can it?" You try it as a last ditch effort and you were surprised. "How can Maya have kept her secret this long when she is this careless?" To your surprise the door opens again. She has left her door unlocked again.

Going inside you notice her in the heated table. She was lying down on the floor. "Maya, are we still picking up some medication for you?" When she doesn't answer you decide to check up on her.

You had just enough cash to buy Hori and Yuki's food as well as Maya's pills. "That was lucky." You thought to yourself as you exit out of the pharmacy.

Then, on your way home you noticed someone familiar walking back. "Kou!" You greet him as you walk towards him.

"Ah, Aomine. Nice to see you." He was carrying a lot of grocery bags like the first time you saw him. "Is my sister bothering you again?"

"Just a bit." You jokingly tell him. "I bought her some pain killers. She was having a lot of cramps." You've heard of it before in health class. When girls are having their time of the month, some of them usually gets crippling pain with it.

"Ah... I forgot about that... My sister has always had pretty bad cramps." The terror in Kou's face was obvious. "S-She is going to kill me... It's my responsibility to keep that pain killer stocked up."

"Don't worry about it." You put your hands on his shoulders to calm him down a bit.

"Don't mention it Hori. Also, you have some dirt on your face." You point to your face where the dirt was on hers.

However, ever the airhead, Hori mirrors you exactly and just gets more dirt on her face when she tries to rub it off with her dirty gloves. After you drop off the dinner for the girls you tell them that you are going out again. "If anything happens Hori, just give me a call okay?"

Then you turn to your sister. "Yuki, don't overload Hori with tasks okay? You know how much of a klutz she is! She might burn down the house for real next time!" You tease Hori a bit.

"Ah! That's unfair Aomine!" The fact that you can joke around like this with Hori tells you that the two of you were getting used to each other.

Looking at Kou like that, he really did feel like the older of the two siblings. You also felt the care that he felt for his sister. "Well, I don't think you should worry about that... She is way different at school..." You tell him.

"Eh? Really?" Kou had a look of genuine surprise on his face. It was understandable. Kou has probably never seen Maya in her in-school persona.

"But I'm the only one who knows the true Maya so as long as we have this special bond between us, I have an advantage over them right?" You tell Kou.

Kou seems to have found your answer satisfactory. "Hmm I guess that's true." He turns to you and smiles. "I guess I can trust you to protect her during the school trip then..." He breathes a sigh of relief.

Finally, you saw your chance to get to know Maya better. "Hmm about that, what exactly do I need to protect her from?"

You felt confused. Maya told you that she lives with her parents and Kou, how come Kou is telling you that their father lives there? "Your father?"

"Mhmm." He smiles a melancholic smile. "Well our real father that is... The one we live with in this house is just someone my mom found after our real father divorced her." Kou tells you the whole story. He tells you that their real father cheated on their mother.

"I mean, it hurt when he left us, but I think it was for the best." He tells you that during the 4 month period when they found out about his second family and before the divorce happened, the atmosphere in their house felt suffocating and cold.

When he lists all of Maya's undesirable attributes, you start to wonder why you started to fall for her in the first place. Was your taste in women just that bad? "What are you two doing?" Immediately, both you and Kou freezes in place as you hear Maya's voice.

She walks you all the way to the gate of her building. "Alright, I'll see you tomorrow Maya." You give her a smile.

"Y-yeah... I'll see you tomorrow." From the moment you left her apartment, she seems to want to talk to you about something but just couldn't put it into words. Finally, she gets the courage to speak up. "H-Hey! Aomine!" She calls out to you before you leave.

"I... I just wanted to thank you for today... Staying by me and all..." You then notice that she was holding a piece of paper in her right hand. It must've been your note. "You had to go all the way out to the pharmacy too... S-Sorry for bothering you all the time."

You give her a pat on the head. "Don't worry about it Maya." You give her a smile. "It isn't a big deal really."

"R-Really? That's good then..." You thought that was the only thing that she wanted to ask you, but when you try to walk away again, she stops you once more." "Wait! Aomine, I wanted to ask you one more thing..."

"What is it?" You turn to Maya again.

"It's my mother... She was asking me what your name was and I had no idea what your first name was..." Now that you thought of it, Maya has been calling you by your surname all this time. "It's up to you whether or not you want to tell me or not... But what's your first name?"

You couldn't help but smile. "It's Daichi. Daichi Aomine." You tell her your full name.

It was incredibly subtle, but you could see her lips form a smile as she hears your full name and whispers it to herself. "So it's Daichi huh..." Then, she looks up to you. "Umm... Is it okay if I call you Daichi from now on?"

"Of course." You tell her. That night, you felt like you grew closer to Maya once again.

Actually, this story was written with one love interest in mind. The only love interest was Maya to begin with. However I didn't know how well you guys would like her so I had a backup love interest in case Maya wasn't well liked. Hori was that love interest.

I guess it's because I have adopted the policy of "tripfagging is bad." That and I don't really like to attract attention to myself. Plus I really suck at naming myself. Every name I can think off just sounds lame.
