You are Ur'shal, Chieftain of the Stonetusk Clan and Warlord of the Wastes. After your bloody confrontation with the Abyssal Horror which had been stalking you, you decided to take some time to rest, recover, and wash off the potentially toxic gore left over from your battle. Despite the relaxing evening you had, your night is far from restful, plagued with images of rotting flesh and jagged, blood-caked teeth.

You awaken with a growl, hand reaching to the axe by your side, Raka cracking one eye open from where the bandersnatch lies nearby, giving a snort at your sudden movement before drifting back to sleep. You've learned by now that bad dreams are sometimes more than the work of an overactive imagination, but unlike your previous brushes with the abyss, you feel no sting from your scar. All you feel is a deep but fading sense of hunger, twisting up your guts and bringing a taste of copper to your tongue.

It looks like it's still a few hours to dawn, though looking around, you spot the priestess Aza'ra sat on a rock, staring out into the wastes as she butchers some wasteland vermin for meat. She looks back over her shoulder as you pick yourself up, still expertly skinning her meal without even looking.

“Let's get moving soon, I'd rather not leave my clan alone for much longer,” you grunt, sitting down on a rock near Aza'ra.

The priestess nods, tossing aside the skin of the vermin, nodding to a small pile of sticks and dried leaves of hardy wasteland weeds. While none of it is the best material for fires, it's as good as you're going to get out here, and you soon have a small, smoky fire going, roasting the skinned vermin over it into a tough, tasteless morning meal.

Raka lets out a disapproving snort as the stink of smoke reaches him, picking himself up and padding off into the wastes, returning a little while later with a half-eaten Burrowsnake between his teeth. It's still a while before dawn by the time you've finished your meal, though the three of you have little trouble navigating the Wastes in the dark.

The next three days pass quietly, and while you still have occasional flashing images and fleeting memories of dreams, none of them are as intense and visceral as the first. Aza'ra makes for pleasant enough company, though sometimes it can be a challenge keeping track of her moods, the priestess lapsing from gregariousness into long hours of silence seemingly without reason.

You awaken on the fourth day of your travels having had a peaceful night, even the fractured images of the dream fading away into nothing. Despite that, you can't help but feel a looming sense of unease, some primal urge in the back of your brain stuck struggling between fight and flight. Aza'ra seems oblivious to your concerns however, the priestess tossing you a lizard on a stick for breakfast. It's surprisingly good, flavored with the leaves of some wasteland plant, giving it a spicy taste.

It's early afternoon when Raka gives a low growl, hunching close to the ground, ears flat as he sniffs the air. It doesn't take you long to hear the reason for his excitement, a voice carrying across the wastes, hoarse and tinged with desperation. A human voice.

The three of you pick your way across the rocks, finding a good vantage point to look down on the surrounding landscape.

“Well look at that, Cragfolk, bit far south for their tastes,” Aza'ra smirks, as you catch sight of the source of the noise.

Humans, similar to the ones of the Howling Mountains you are so familiar with. There are five of them in total, three men and two women. You doubt they could put up much of a fight as they are, and you're amazed that predators haven't picked them off already. Every last one of them is emaciated, bedraggled, shuffling between the rocks in a daze. One stumbles, hacking and coughing through dry lips, another stopping to help him back to his feet.

“What do you think?” the priestess asks, watching the sorry procession.

“Let's go greet them,” you grunt, hopping down from the rock.

Despite not making any effort to sneak, you get quite close to the group before they spot you, the one at the front scrambling to an unsteady halt, groping for the handle of a knife at his belt.

“Very far south for your kind, aren't you, humans?” you snort, resting your axe against your shoulder.

There's less fear than you would have expected in their eyes, though you suppose exhaustion has made it hard for them to feel much of anything. You let the pause drag out for a few moments before the man at the front of the group breaks the silence.

“We don't want trouble, and we've got nothing of value, we're just passing by,” he croaks, voice grating against his dry throat.

“Maybe so, but that didn't answer my question, did it. What're you doing this far south, humans?” you reply, taking a step forward.

“Things have gone mad up north. Anywhere's better than staying there,” the human replies, breaking down into a fit of coughing as his voice cracks at the strain.

“Slaagyr?” you grunt. With where you are, they must've come from the dragon's lands.

“You know him?” one of the others asks, voice heavy with surprise and suspicion.

“Used to be we thought we'd be safer under Slaagyr, protecting our borders from that ogre butcher to the east, used to be that the dragon listened to Ludger and the Snowfox. Now though, the only Cragfolk voice he hears is Joachim's,” the first of the group continues, eyes hollow and bloodshot, bony hand trembling against the handle of his dagger.

“Slaagyr demands more and more rituals from the goat-priest. We want no part in it.”

“Please leave us be, we just want to get as far away as we can, that's all.”

You frown. You suppose you could just let them go, though heading south from here they'll no doubt end up food to predators, killed by the shifters, or stumbling into the abyssal jungle to the south-west. They don't look much good for slaves, it could take weeks of rest before they're healthy enough to be of use, but on the other hand, they may have more worthwhile information for you.

Is Orcish cuisine partially Central European? Doesn't look fancy but is filling and delicious?

They live in the wastes currently so I imagine tough meat and tougher roots.

As for when they had a kingdom, I guess it would vary. Orcs don't seem picky.

>>
>>42664822
so they like food with a kick in it.
I wonder if orcs prefer poison( that could kill humans and other species) to normal spices.
>>
>>42664857
Considering the percentages of alcohol Orcs will consume, it's highly likely.
>>
>>42664857
They do, it's been confirmed they have not!mustards and the like that would at least cause stomach ulcers in humans, and eat poisons for the heck of it and to prove that they're tough enough to do it.
Example: the alcohol the clan was making up till now was made out of very poisonous plants.
>>
“I have more questions for you. Answer them, and you can go,” you grunt.

The group say nothing, so you continue.

“Who are Ludgar and the Snowfox?”

“When Slaagyr offered our tribes a place under his protection, Ludgar and the Snowfox were chosen by the tribes as our representatives, two of our greatest warriors to be our voice with the dragon. Now though, Joachim poisons more and more of our people against them with his promises and witchery, and Slaagyr does nothing to stop him.”

“What about Joachim? What do you know of him?”

The man shakes his head, eyes dark. “He is a priest of Mhoiru, the cannibal goat. I do not know where he came from, but him and his cult appeared several months back and allied with Slaagyr. His cult grows as he draws more of the tribes to take part in his... rituals.”

“What sort of rituals?”

“The sort we stayed far away from. Cragfolk who stray into the tunnels of his cult end up taking part whether they wish to or not. He summons up dark spirits and works his magics on his cult. It makes them strong, I have seen just how strong they are, but they are no longer human.”

You frown, shifting your grip on your axe.

“Is Joachim the only one Slaagyr listens to now?”

“No, Slaagyr has... or had, three. Joachim, that ogre sorcerer, and Aurora, though she died some time ago now in Slaagyr's conflicts with an orc chieftain.”

“Are there other orcs up north?”

“No, not since the Skyhunters left.”

“What about this Butcher you mentioned?”

“The ogre warlord to the east, I don't know much about him, just that his raiding parties come west to pillage and slaughter when the mood takes them.”

You grunt, glancing over at Aza'ra, who has been watching the exchange with a neutral expression.

“You can go. You want my advice, you'll stick to the edge of the jungle and head east, then down along the wall and around. You'll probably die, but if you get lucky, you might reach the edge of the wall and come to the city-states. Going any other way, you'll die for sure,” you explain.

There's a long pause, an expression of surprise blooming on the man's features.

“Very well, thank you,” the human bows, as the group start off south once again.

You watch them go, Aza'ra's expression somewhat bemused as they disappear between the rocky landscape.

“Very generous of you, Ur'shal. Why'd you let them go? Wouldn't it be bad news if they got to the other humans and told them where you were?”

>>
Won't they go past our camp with those directions?
>>
>>42664916
You mean if they told other humans that they met two orcs in the middle of the wasteland? Wow, how horrible it'd be if the humans knew that there lived orcs in the wastes! Especially since we're days away from my camp!
They were more trouble than worth to take as slaves, thought I'd let the wastes decide their fate.
>>
>>42665014
Doubt it, that'd mean we'd be heading in the same direction, which would mean we'd likely get there before them and we can just take them as slaves if we feel like it.

Ur told them to head south until they hit the jungle, then go east, since he figured that would be the easiest directions to follow. You on the other hand are just heading in a straight line, you'll get back to the camp a couple of days before they pass by to the south of it, at least.
>>
>>42665091
Eh, not like they could tell that it's an orc camp from far away anyway, and they'd be retarded to get close.

“Killing them isn't worth the effort, the waste'll most likely do that for us. Besides, what does it matter if they do tell other humans we're here? The humans already know there's orcs beyond the wall, they drove us here, after all,” you grunt.

Aza'ra reaches forward, tapping your breastplate with a finger.

“Magic, right? I know the gauntlets are magic, and I'd wager the axe is too. Most people beyond the wall won't care, but you're sure to get some adventurers coming here looking for you if the cragfolk remember the look of your gear well enough. Some of those types'll go to insane effort to kill a man and strip his corpse if they think there's gold in it for them. It's admirable in a way, but I doubt it'd be much fun for you.”

You frown, bringing your axe to the ground and leaning on it.

“Are adventurers really such a problem?”

“Some are, some aren't. Any who make the journey out here will be tough, desperate, or both.”

“Good. Adventurers will make for better slaves than a group of half-starved cragfolk.”

“That's one way of looking at it,” Aza'ra laughs, as the three of you once more start off towards your camp.

“We can get information from them too, I know far too little about what's been happening beyond the wall.”

“And of course adventuring tends to attract a lot of fine looking women, for some reason,” the priestess smirks.

“See, so many reasons why this is a good idea,” you grin.

The rest of the journey is a quiet one, and shortly after midday of the seventh day, you spy the shaped stone and wooden palisades of the Stonetusk Camp. Fortunately it looks to still be in the same state as you left it, and as you step in through the gates, you see your warriors going about as per usual, with your arrival with the priestess drawing more than a little attention.

“Quite a setup you've got here, how'd you do the stonework?” Aza'ra asks, glancing around the camp as you walk up through the outer defenses.

“Ylugri worshippers, we enslaved a coven of them a while back. A dead slave every full moon's a small price to pay, and it keeps the rest of the slaves on their toes,” you explain.

“I'll show you around,” you grunt, gesturing for Aza'ra to follow as you head off into the main camp.

Raka pads alongside you for a while, before breaking away with an eager snort, most likely having picked up the scent of some bandersnatch or craglion female. You head on past the great stacks of logs near the gate, orc overseers watching the slaves as they chop up the wood.

Past them, you start through the stone huts and shanty town of tents surrounding them, orcs sparring, talking, laughing and working, sharpening weapons and repairing armor in the gaps between the rocky structures and stretched hide. Many stop to greet you as you pass through, Aza'ra watching silently despite the many curious gazed cast her way.

Out past them you come to the centre of the camp, the wide open area surrounding the fire pit in its centre.

“At night, we have plenty of warriors here drinking and celebrating,” you explain, passing through.

“Down there, that's where we keep the slaves. Most of that stuff I leave to Za'ria. Be warned if you go meet her, she'll probably try to fuck you,” you grunt, earning an amused snort from the priestess.

“Impressive, your clan looks eager and ready for battle, that's good,” Aza'ra nods.

“...and over here is our resident shaman, Ku'zag,” you continue, gesturing to the ornery old orc as he squints up at you and Aza'ra from his seat before his tent.

“You're back, and you picked up a stray,” he grunts, setting aside whatever foul concoction he was preparing in his bowl.

“A stray priestess, thought I'd bring her so the two of you could get acquainted,” you shrug.

We really have no idea how long Aza'ra has been sleeping accept for before the fall of the kingdom and "a long time".
She might belong to the generation of our great-great-great-grandparents, for all we know.
>>
>>42666384
Hell she might be our great-great-great-grandmother for all we know.
>>
>>42666384

Oh man, Dru'ak might fall completely in love with her if his MILF fetish holds true.
>>
Writing.
>>
>>42666396
I don't know, I think she became a hobopriest at a pretty young age.
For all we know she might not have given birth to any whelps or been mated yet.
That should be rectified if true.
>>42666413
For all we know she's not a mother, and she's not the plump MILF body type.
>>
>>42666429

I thought hobopriests pretty much avoided pregnancy? They don't want to get stuck in one place and grow soft during gestation.
>>
>>42666488
While that's true for some of them, the truly hardcore ones will just run around until even when they're about ready to drop.
>>
>>42666488
That's why I said it's somewhat likely that she's never been pregnant before.
But I think Lordy said that them never bearing whelps would be insulting to Y'zagya Zoka I think, so they sometimes wait out the later parts of the pregnancy in the clan and then leave their whelps behind to adventure or something?
>>
“You found her out at the ruins then. Hibernating, most likely,” Ku'zag deduces, the old shaman rising to his feet slowly, brushing off his robes.

“I was sleeping of an injury, apparently I slept longer than I'd planned to,” Aza'ra replies, as Ku'zag steps up in front of her, glowering at the priestess as she folds her arms, smirking at the old shaman.

You half wonder, looking at the two squaring up to each other, if there's going to be a fight. Even by Ku'zag's usual standards, there's an edge to his voice.

“You got old,” Aza'ra smirks.

“And you're still an arrogant whelp,” Ku'zag grunts, jabbing the priestess in the stomach with a bony finger.

Aza'ra takes a step back, frowning, a hand over the point of Ku'zag's poke. “When'd you get so mouthy.”

“It's one of the advantages of being old and wise,” the shaman grunts, as Aza'ra shakes her head.

“You know each other then?” you ask curiously, glancing between the pair.

“Unfortunately,” Ku'zag grunts.

“I was friends with his sister, you see, and with the way Ku'zag used to follow her around, he got all sulky when she wanted to spend time with me when I visited their clan,” Aza'ra grins.

You can't help but snort with laughter at the image of a sulky young Ku'zag, earning you a sharp glare from the venerable shaman.

>>42666820
“Well, I suppose we are very short of priests, and Aza'ra is powerful. Unfortunately like many young orcs with a great deal of natural talent, she's prone to a misplaced sense of invincibility,” Ku'zag grunts, though from the look your way you suspect that statement wasn't entirely aimed at Aza'ra.

“Whatever happened to Rak'zara anyway?” Aza'ra asks, completely ignoring the backhanded compliment.

“Dead, killed by another orc,” Ku'zag grunts, his words clipped and harsh.

Aza'ra frowns, unfolding her arms.

“And the orc who killed her?”

“Dead,” the old shaman repeats, his worn old teeth bared in a rare expression of utter loathing.

Aza'ra sighs, leaning back against the wall of a nearby hut.

“I suppose that's how things go, when you sleep as long as I did. Oh well, at least you and I can catch up about old times.”

“Or we could not,” Ku'zag frowns.

“Nonsense, we have so much to talk about,” Aza'ra grins, her voice losing its solemn tone as quickly as it came.

Ku'zag gives a weary sigh, running a hand across his face. “Was there anything else, Chieftain? Or did you just come here to make me suffer?”

“One more thing, Ko'zar Yur, does the name mean anything to you?”

Ku'zag grunts, sitting himself back down on his rock.

“He's an orcish god worshipped in the east, one of winter and death. His cult never really spread beyond his homeland though. Why?”

You tap the armlet, the old shaman squinting at it and frowning.

“You put it on without knowing who he was?”

“That's what I told him,” Aza'ra smirks.

“Last I heard Ko'zar Yur hadn't fallen to the abyss or anything, so you won't be sprouting spider legs from your face or some such nonsense, can't tell you what the armlet does though, take it to that elf slave if you want the magic in it scryed.”

“Do you think the armlet had anything to do with the dreams I've been having?”

“What kind of dreams?”

You relay the dream to Ku'zag, the rotting flesh, the hunger, the blood and teeth. As you finish, the old shaman shakes his head.

“Unlikely, the death Ko'zar Yur represents is less bloody. Perhaps it's another portent from the gods,” Ku'zag suggests.

“So maybe it's got something to do with that priest you were asking the cragfolk about earlier? Rotting flesh, teeth and hunger sounds like a Mhoiru thing to me,” Aza'ra shrugs.

You frown, if that's true, then perhaps Joachim's increase in rituals represents a threat you won't be able to ignore for much longer. Unfortunate, you'd hoped that moving south might get the dragon off your back, but you suppose his grudge against you must still be going strong.

“Slaagyr then, I suppose I should've suspected as much. Fine then, if the armlet isn't to blame, I'll take it to the elf now, Ku'zag, I'll leave you to catch up with your old crush some more,” you smirk, the old shaman giving you a sour look as you start off.

“Oh, and Aza'ra, you ever have any whelps?” you ask, glancing back over your shoulder at the priestess.

“Hmm, no, I was a bit busy for that, why do you ask?”

“Just curious. We'll meet up later,” you grunt, leaving the pair to talk as you head off to find Ashuris' elf pet.

You find him in his usual place, the elf living and sleeping in the storage hut as he did in your former camp. He looks up from his work as you enter, as does his mistress, Ashuris inclining her head ever so slightly in your direction, a hint of color coming to her pale cheeks.

“You're back, I was starting to wonder if you'd died out there,” the ogress states, pausing to cuff the elf, who hurriedly returns to brushing her hair.

“Missing me, were you?”

“Of course not, I was simply concerned that I would wind up the property of an even more brutish orc.”

“You seem to enjoy my brutishness well enough. Anyway, we'll have time to properly celebrate my return, right now, I need your pet to tell me what this does,” you grunt, tapping the armlet.

“Well, go on then,” Ashuris snaps at the elf as he gawks up at you, the sorcerer setting aside the brush and stepping over, muttering his incantation over the armlet.

“It's enchanted, but it's not meant for you,” the elf explains, and you growl as he lets the statement stand, apparently enjoying making you wait for the information.

“It's meant to bind undead, if you put it around the arm of an undead, it shackles them to the will of the one who placed it on them, prevents them from going against their owners orders.”

“It's a bit big for most undead, isn't it?”

“It should reshape itself,” the elf continues, scurrying back to resume brushing his mistress' hair with his work done.

Well, no sense leaving it on then, you set the armlet down, contemplating your next move.

You look down at the ogress, while her pregnancy is progressing a lot slower than some of other other, faster breeding mates, she has an unmistakeable bulge to her belly which makes you think it's only another month or two off. Her already impressive breasts have grown as well, swollen in anticipation of feeding your whelps.

Ashuris frowns, the proud female catching sight of your gaze.

“What?”

“Do I need a reason to take an interest, after all, those are my whelps you're carrying,” you grin, resting a hand on Ashuris' belly, making the ogress flush deeply.

“They're fine, of course, as if I'd let anything happen to ou- to my children,” Ashuris sniffs, looking away.

You let your hand slip up from her rounded belly to cup the underside of one of her swollen breasts, Ashuris stifling a gasp as you run a calloused hand over the soft flesh. You glance up, her pet glaring at you as you paw at his mistress, and you smirk as you slip a hand up over Ashuris' nipple, drawing a moan from the ogress.

“It must've been hard for you, these two weeks without me here, but you're master's back now, so later I'll give you the opportunity to show me how much you missed me,” you grin, looking back to Ashuris, the ogress biting her lip as you play with her breast.

“I didn't-”

You pinch the nipple, provoking a moan.

“What do you say, slave?”

“Thank you, master,” she mutters, pale cheeks turning a deep shade of crimson as she studies the wall to her side intently.

“Good slave, try to hold out until I'm done with my chieftain duties,” you grin.

Ashuris gives an unhappy little moan as your hand leaves her breast, and you turn, heading for the door. As much as you'd enjoy spending the rest of the day catching up with your harem, you do have other matters to attend to first, like finding out what happened while you were away.

While several of your lieutenants are away with Or'kug, and hopefully soon to return with many new recruits for your clan, you send out an orc to gather up those that remained behind. A short while later you sit in the meeting hut before the assembled lieutenants, which in this case is only Dru'ak, Koz'rak and Ya'zada. Ya'zada giving you a look that suggests she'd much rather be meeting you in a more private setting. Giving her a quick grin, you turn your attention to the trio.

“So, how have things gone while I was away? Any news?”

“We had a few skirmishes with the Skinchangers, they're becoming better at predicting our raids on the remaining elves, and we still don't know where they're coming from to strike back,” Koz'rak explains, rubbing idly at a new set of claw marks healing on his arm.

“The one we took prisoner is useless, she just spends all her time in her cat form, so we can't interrogate her,” Ya'zada frowns.

“Aside from that, we've had a few fights, nothing that got anyone killed though,” Koz'rak continues.

“We sent some scouts down south-east too, around the skinchangers' territory, to take a look at the Lamia compound. It's well fortified, but nothing our warriors couldn't crack, especially with our stormhorns leading the charge,” Ya'zada explains.

“All quiet aside from that, Ur,” Dru'ak grunts, shrugging.

“Well, except for...” Koz'rak frowns.

“You sure that's worth talking about?” Ya'zada asks, drumming her fingers on the rest of her chair.

“Probably not, but with all the ridiculous magical stuff we've been dealing with, who knows.”

“What is it?” you grunt, the three glancing at each other.

“One of our orcs, scout named Lo'lok, says he spotted something skulking around near the camp a few nights ago.”

“What sort of something?”

“He said it was a foot or two tall, two legged, and kind of hunched looking. Thing is, no-one except Lo'lok saw it, and even he didn't get a good look. We sent other scouts out looking for it, of course, but we didn't find it, or any sign anything was ever there.”

You frown, nodding slowly.

“Did Ku'zag have any ideas what it could be?”

“Apparently two feet tall and hunched isn't enough to narrow it down, Ku'zag said there's hundreds of things out there that could fit that description.”

You sigh, leaning back against your seat.

Tell one of our orcs to ask Ku'zag if Joachim could cook up something two legged and hunched.
How is the training of the harpies going?
How's Or'kag doing?
Tell them what we heard of the humans, that there's some trouble brewing up north, and that we brought a priest home.
>>
>>42668819
So goblins?

Maybe send out Vor'zal? He did good against the goat things.

Also ask what sort of defenses the lamias have.
>>
>>42668819
Clearly we're gonna need too interrogate the prisoner outself, No matter the form.
>>
>>42668819
We'll have to wait until we get the clans that weve sent for back, then we'll plot an attack on those lamia. A good raid like that will solidify our image as the leaders. In the meantime, we should see about farming, put some slaves to work tilling the earth here, watered from the underground springs we can access, with some hardy plants. That way, even if we leave, there might be the fields still when/if we return to the old camp.
>>
>>42668819

Double the patrols at night, make sure the orcs are informed to stay alert. We see something like it again, then we can start making plans on how to deal with it.

“Once Or'kug gets back with the new orcs, we'll organize a raid on the Lamia, it'll be a good way to bring them into the clan properly,” you grunt, earning nods from your lieutenants.

“As for the skinchangers. I'll go talk to our captive personally, I'll get answers out of her one way or another. In the meantime, check with Ku'zag, see if he thinks this could have anything to do with Slaagyr's priest, and double the guards at night. Ask Vor'zal to go out and look for it too, he might spot something others missed.”

“Right, I'll get it sorted out,” Ya'zada nods.

“and have Za'ria arrange for the slaves to prepare some farmland, if we've got more warriors coming in, it would help to have some more food while we're here.”

“Might be hard, most of our slaves were hunters and gatherers, not farmers, and the waste isn't good for farming, even this close to the jungle, but I'll talk to her,” Koz'rak grunts.

“Good, make sure things stay calm here, we may have to go to war with Slaagyr soon, and I want our warriors to be prepared for when it happens.”
