The year is 2032, 16 years after the release of Pokemon GO all the way back in 2016. Though the original Pokemon GO was primitive, being a simple program that caught Pokemon based on your geographical location through an AR display, it caught on like wildfire. Soon nearly everyone in the world was playing Pokemon GO, kids and adults alike. There’s even an official global Pokemon league, with regional sub-leagues scattered about. Last year, the Pokemon Company announced Pokemon GO Neon, a more advanced form of Pokemon GO, said to be much more detailed, with each Pokemon possessing an individual personality AI. You are Ross Green, and you live in Pocket Town, a rather large town run by the Pokemon Company, in addition to being the testing ground for Pokemon GO Neon. With AR goggles and Feedback gloves, you can see and interact with your team of virtual Pokemon.
>>
>>42656428
You stare out the window as sunlight streams through it. Running through yesterday’s events in your mind, you still can’t believe it. Entire gangs of kids, fighting a giant Pokemon battle! The leaders of the two gangs even had evolved Pokemon! Abby selling you out to Team Claw just to save her own Pokemon was something you never saw coming.

You also recall your decision to form a third Team in order to combat Team Fang and Team Claw, a force for justice! Team….. Well, you’ll have to think about that. You don your goggles, slip on your Feedback gloves, and switch on your Pokedex. You give a morning’s greeting to Vitriol, Free, and Nula, before you’re called down to breakfast by your Mother.

You’ve just made it down the stairs when you realize that you forgot to put your Pokemon back in their Pokeballs. The trio tumble down the stairs after you, rolling to a halt by your feet. “My, my!” Your Mother exclaims. “Good Morning Ross. Good morning you three. Pleasant dreams?”
>>
>>42656459
Pretty much everyone in Pocket Town wears the AR goggles now, allowing them to see Pokemon, Pokeballs, and other AR constructs. This includes your mother, who has taken to wearing a pink pair of goggles with an outline of a bunch of butterfree flying around the band.

She sets your breakfast down on the table and you dig in with gusto, considering where you’re going to be heading today. You’ve still got to form your team, maybe you should head to basketball courts, where most of your friends usually hang out.

Then again, you’ll need Masks like Team Fang and Team Claw, not to mention uniforms. Sally at the Arts and Crafts Shop should be able to help with that. Or you could try and scout out the old Abandoned Train Station, where the Team Fang headquarters is. It might give you an idea of what you need for your base. You decide to tell your mother that today you’re heading to…

Teams aren't exactly approved of.

The uniforms and masks are there so that no one will be able to figure out who it is underneath it, and therefore keep their civilian Trainer Identity separate from Team business. This is why all the grunts you've encountered use Zubats/Growlithes instead of their actual Pokemon team.
>>
>>42656571
True, but we're not a traditional team either. We aren't doing anything illegal or against the game, and we aren't stealing pokemon from other trainers.
A player guild that formed and banded together for mutual protection from cheaters and to help people targeted would have less need to hide their identity.
>>
"I'm heading to the Basketball Courts, Mom." You say, returning your Pokemon to their Pokeballs and rising from the table. You head off to the Basketball Courts, hoping that your friends will be hanging around there as they usually do. As you arrive, you see that Chester and Suzanne are just finishing off a Pokemon Battle, with Chester's Evee dodging the Ember shot at him by Suzanne's Vulpix.

Terry and Mikey are standing on the sidelines and chatting, while Lily is playing with her Oddish. As you approach the gathering, Chester's Evee manages to tackle the Vulpix from the side, winning the battle and knocking the Vulpix out. "Not bad, Chester! But next time, Cinder and I will be ready for that!" Suzanne calls, grinning fiercely.

Mikey notices you standing on the sidelines and waves hello, bringing you to the groups attention. "Heya Ross!" Suzanne strides towards you with that same shark-like smile on her face."Care to go a round?"

The rest of the group just shake their heads. "But Suzanne... Didn't your Vulpix just faint?" The smile drops from her face and is replaced with an expression of shock. "Oh, right... We'll have to battle another time!" She slaps you on the back and starts guffawing loudly.

Lily jumps up from where she was playing with her Oddish and walks over to you. "Oddish needs some practice, could we maybe battle? Please?" She asks you, trying to do her best "cutesy" voice, which falls rather flat.

You commence a 1v1 match with Lily, with each of you occupying another end of the basketball court. You send out Free, while she sends out her Oddish, which totters around on its two tiny feet before running towards Free. Free bombards the Oddish with String Shots, but the Oddish dances around the strands of thread, with a flourish and a spin it launches a ball of green energy which hits Free, then reverses direction and hits Oddish, healing it. But sadly for Lily, Absorb is Grass type, and so the attack did very little damage to the Bug type Free. Free charges and slams into the Oddish with a tackle, rolling around with it before slamming it into the ground.

"Good Game, Lily." You say as she retrieves her Oddish. "But there's actually something I came here to talk about." Before you can continue, Free starts glowing, shimmering with a kind of light you've seen before. You consult your Pokedex, and it is indeed evolution.

"Evolution is engaged for Number 010. Transferring Data to Form Number 009. Processing. Press B to cancel." The light surrounding free begins to glow brighter, nearly blinding you.

The light flashes once more and then fades away. Where Free the Caterpie once stood, there is now Free the Metapod, looking very proud of his new green shell. You noticed a bug with the transition announcement, and file a bug report in your Pokedex, to be sent to your dad. With Free now evolved, you can get back to business. You pat your new Metapod on the head and return him to his Pokeball, turning to address the others.

"There's a reason I'm here. You guys know about Team Fang and Team Claw, right?" The group nods collectively. "Well yesterday Abby led me into an ambush by Team Claw. It's made me realize that we can't just let these two teams walk all over us We've got to be able to fight back." You strike a pose not unlike those that you've seen Team Fang and Team Claw doing. "So let's form our own team! We'll be able to fight back against them!"

The others are speechless. "But... We're just kids. We can't possibly stand up to them, can we?" Lily asks nervously.

Suzanne grins her usual grin. "It'll be tough, but we can pull it off. I've already taken down a few of their grunts, so there's no way it's impossible! We just need to get stronger. I'm in."

"I'm in too." Chester exclaims as he walks over to you and shakes your hand. "Let's show them what for!"

Lily and Terry nod nervously. Mikey smiles softly at you. "They'll never know what hit them."

You beam at the others. "Alright! Today we've officially founded Team..."

"Team Hunter! Our journey begins now!" The six of you pose dramatically with your Pokeballs. You're finally able to stick it to those Team Claw and Team Fang creeps! "Oh yeah!" You remember suddenly. "We need to decide on who the leader is."

The others laugh at you. "Well obviously, you're the leader, Ross! You're the guy who started all this, so you should be in charge!" Suzanne guffaws loudly as she slaps you on the back a couple of times.

"Now hold up here." Chester interrupts. "Ross may be our leader, but he needs to pick a second in command. Don't Pokemon Teams usually have two or three Lieutenants?"

"Yeah, they do." Terry pipes up. "There'll usually be a couple of Lieutenants that are above the grunts in the command structure."

Mikey nods. "In that case, Ross should probably pick two of us to serve as his Lieutenants."

You're a bit flustered by all this. Why do you have to choose Lieutenants so suddenly? You only just formed the team! "Pick me Ross! Oooh, Pick me!" Lily is trying to be cutesy again. Suzanne grabs her.

"Now calm down, Lily. Ross will choose whoever's best for the job. No complaining!" She nods to you. "Go ahead, Commander. Pick two of us." Wait, Commander!? Suzanne seems to be taking this a little too literally. It's time to decide who will be directly below you in the command structure.

"I choose Chester and Suzanne to be Lieutenants." You declare, as the two of them high five. Your team is now ready for action! Or... Not. "We also need uniforms, like the other teams. We'll also need a Secret Base."

Suzanne smirks. "You, Me, and Chester can handle that." She takes Mikey, Terry, and Lily aside. "You guys need to do some intensive training! We'll be back at the end of the day, okay?" The others nod, and Suzanne charges off. You share aglance with Chester then take off in pursuit.

"Wait Suzanne! You're going in the wrong direction!" Chester calls out, causing Suzanne to skid to a halt. She looks at the two of you, confused.

"Well then, what is the right direction?" She asks.

The tour guide book you read in the Library two days ago had several maps, so you've got a pretty good idea of the general town layout now. "Well the Arts and Crafts Shop is that way." You point north. "Or did you figure out a location we could use for a Secret Base?"

Suzanne shakes her head. "I just wanted to get going! So which are we doing first? A uniform, or the secret base?"

"We'll need a secret base, first of all. Do you two have any suggestions?" You say, brainstorming all the possibilities inside your head. The three of you sit in silence for a while, until Chester pipes up.

"I saw a pretty big treehouse in the Park a couple days ago, that might work." You remember that treehouse, the Myrill Twins built it two, as a DIY project in high school. They moved away to go find work and everyone forgot about the threehouse. It's pretty spacious from what you remember, sizeable enough for a secret base.

Suzzane snaps her fingers. "Got it! You know how my Dad got transferred out of town recently? He had a Blacksmithing hobby. The forge got built in the Old District, not many people go there. It's smaller than the treehouse, but much more out of the way! Plus there might be cool stuff in there!"

You never knew this about Suzanne's father, but then again, you've rarely been to the Old District. It's usually empty of people, so the chances of the Secret Base being discovered are much less than the treehouse.

You chime in as well. "Well, there's always the basketball courts themselves. The shed nearby is pretty big, and it's close to all our houses. No one is using it." The three of you lean back in thought. "You know guys, you're gonna have to train pretty hard too." You say with a grin. They nod, determinedly.

"In the end, I think you should choose, Commander." Suzanne holds her head in frustration. "Because I can't decide things!"

"Alright, we'll use the Forge. Let's head there now and get it ready." The three of you travel to the Old District, following Suzanne. Eventually, you reach the Forge. It's dusty inside, filled with Blacksmithing tools and other assorted items. You get to work on clearing the place up, moving the tools, bringing in some old desks, and dusting the place off.

It's small, but the six of you can easily fit with room to spare. As you finish off, you notice various pieces of armor lying in a pile. "Hey Suzanne, what's that?" You ask, curious about the nature of such a pile.

"My Dad made a bunch of various parts of a suit of Armor, but he never made the whole thing. I think there are more pieces than you need for some of this." She searches through the pile. "See? There's like, 3 pairs of greaves here, but only two pairs of Pauldrons! He was pretty weird with this stuff."

The two of you go through the pile, sorting it all out. "Hey guys, we should get going." Chester says abruptly. "The Arts and Crafts Shop closes soon."

Suzanne grins her shark grin again. "We don't need to, Chester! We can use these armor pieces as a uniform! Here, you and I can use these Pauldrons, the Commander can use these Bracers, and the others can use the Greaves! It's perfect!"

Chester doesn't look to enthusiastic at the prospect of using Armor as a uniform. "We should still at least check out our other options."

You notice Chester breath a sigh of relief. Suzanne is pouting. The three of you leave the forge and walk to the Arts and Crafts shop, where you should be able to figure out a uniform for your team.

As you enter the shop, Sally, a friend of Suzanne's, greets you all with a humongous smile. "Welcome! How can I help you?"

"Yeah, we're looking for cloaks." You reply. "Like something a Vampire Hunter would wear." Sally's eyes light up.

"I know just the thing! Right this way!" You head deeper into the store, making small talk on the way.

"You know Suzanne, armor goes really well with cloaks." Suzanne grins and salutes.

"Yes Sir, Commander!" She seems back to her bright and cheery self, slapping you and Chester on the back several times. You should start wearing something to protect your back with all this time you'll be spending with Suzanne.

"Here we are!" Sally announces, and you see before you a bunch of dark green cloaks, with hoods. Accompanying them are matching white gloves and brown boots.

"We'll take them!" Chester barks. He takes you aside. "I'll pay for all the stuff here, so don't worry about it, Commander." Uh oh, Suzanne's gotten Chester calling you Commander too now. It's probably going to spread through the whole group by the time you get back. Chester leaves with Sally to purchase the cloaks, leaving you and Suzanne alone.

You notice a Badge making machine in the corner, covered in dust and cobwebs. "Hey Suzanne, take a look at this." The two of you move over to it. It seems to be in working condition, and the price isn't too high.

"Please, Commander, can we get this? We'll be able to make Badges for the group!" Suzanne pleads with you. It's not necessary with the Cloaks already purchased, but it might bring the Team closer together.

You and Chester try on the Cloaks, Boots, and Gloves, while Suzanne figures out how to use the Badge Maker. They fit snugly, and with the hoods up you're practically unrecognizable.

"Hey, Commander!" Suzanne calls you over. "I figured out how to make a Badge with this, and I can make enough for the whole Team! I just need a design. Got anything in mind?" You've thought about this before, and you've come up with what you think is a pretty good design. It's...

"A Woodsman's Axe. You can do that, right?" Suzanne nods, and gets to work, hitting buttons on the machine.

"Keeping it simple, huh Commander?" Chester asks you as you remove your cloaks, hanging them back up on the apron rack. "I guess that has it's own charm." The two of you stroll over to Suzanne just as she finishes up the Badge Making Process.

"Aaaaand done! Six badges with our Team Symbol on them!" She yells triumphantly. You put the badges away and leave the forge. It's almost time to head home, but first you have to swing over by the Basketball Courts to check on the others. The three of you chat the whole way, smiling and laughing together. You're laughing yourself crazy from a joke Chester made about pirates when the courts come into view.

Lily is kneeling on the ground, Terry is collapsed on a bench, and Mikey is leaning against the wall, his head downcast. As you approach, you notice that the three of them are panting, seemingly out of breath. You approach Mikey. "What happened?" Suzanne asks, cocking her head to the side. "You guys look beat."

"Lily's Oddish... Team Fang took it... There were seven of them, we couldn't fight back...." He gasps out between large gulps of air.

Suzanne growls and Chester grimaces. "What about you and Terry?" He asks. "Were your Pokemon taken?"

"No... They weren't interested in Zubat... They only took Oddish..." He slides down the wall. "We couldn't run, and we couldn't fight... It was hopeless... I need to rest..." His eyes close. He must have been run ragged by what happened. You, Suzanne, and Chester get the others back to their homes. Lily is in shock, and Terry won't say a word.

Your hands clench into fists. "This will not stand."

"Suzanne. Chester. Would you like to help me get the Oddish back? Tonight? I know where Team Fang Headquarters is."

Suzanne and Chester, their faces grim, nod in unison. "We're with you, Commander. Just say the word."

"Alright then, let's go." The three of you head off, preparing to go to the Abandoned Train Station where Team Fang have made their base. They think they can push you around, steal your Pokemon, and bully your Team? No, not on your watch. You're going to get that Oddish back for Lily. Her face flashes in your mind as you head down the street, her eyes filed with tears, barely able to form a sentence. Team Fang will pay for that.

The three of you arrive at the Forge and remove your Cloaks form the Apron Rack. You pull on your boots and gloves, then wrap your cloak around you. Chester and Suzanne do the same. You take a pair of Bracers and a set of Greaves from the pile of armor, pulling them on while the other two attach Pauldrons to their shoulders. The three of you attach the Team Hunter badge to the front of your cloaks, and pull your hoods up, casting your faces in shadow.

The three of you exit the forge, lock it, and head up the road towards the Abandoned Train station.

It's time to go Vampire Hunting.
