You walk over to him, glaring, Goku with you as Chi-chi and Launch help Tien out of the arena. Chi-chi tries to heal his wound... but it doesn't seem to want to heal completely. The Triclops flinches in pain, grabbing his chest. Garlic grins at you all too smugly. "That is quite a wound you have there."

"W-what... is.. AGH..." Tien grips his chest, Chi-chi ready to try to heal him again.

"Don't bother. Ginger's blades have been... you could say, enhanced, by something. Trying to heal it like that will only make things worse." Garlic Jr. states in a tone that's trying to be apathetic but you can tell he's enjoying this way, way too much. Launch glares at the pale blue imp like she wants to rip his head off. "However... as an apology for the behavior of my cohorts, I have something that can heal it completely. Will you allow me to help you?"

It takes her a moment to really go over the situation, Chiaotzu managing to head over to Tien in the meantime. Finally, she comes up with an answer. 'It's definitely related to the Demons. Magic of some kind, though... it's not what I'm used to.' She's lost in thought again, trying to figure it out. 'Perhaps... it might fit Shadow magic best, but few pure Demons can manage that, much less a Makyan like him...'

'Shadow magic?' Well, that's different.

"AGH!" Tien calls out again. He glares at Garlic Jr. Damn it... "F-fine... but no tricks."

The pale blue imp floats over to him, an all too smug grin on his face. "This may hurt a bit." He places his hand forward, a... what can only be described as a glow of "darkness" surrounding his hand. Tien's wound makes the same glow, and he howls in pain for a moment. Launch and Chi-chi take stances next to Tien, Chiaotzu giving the angriest look you've ever seen on his face... but then it passes. Tien's healed... though that leaves quite a scar. "You will suffer no further pain from that. Now, if you'll allow me, I'll be on my way..."

Launch seems to sigh with relief, though Tien is still not sure about what just happened. That wasn't any standard curse, you know that much, and it seems Tien figured that out as well. You turn to walk towards the ring. "... make sure that your minions don't pull any more tricks, or else."

"They should have known better." Garlic replies, glancing at you. "And Ginger should have saved that for you."

The malicious tone Garlic gives that in almost sends a chill down your spine, the Makyan heading back to the waiting area and you can hear sounds of him shouting at his minion. As you walk into the ring, you telepathically tell Tien to check in with Trip to make sure there are no side-effects. Piccolo follows you shortly after, a curious look on his face as he sees Tien go towards Trip. The Namekian lets out a little chuckle as clouds start to come in. "You and your friends sure you want to continue? I can do far worse than that little flesh wound."

So with Dende's Dragon Balls, reviving the Earth takes up two wishes, with one left over. Piccolo rushes you, confident in his abilities. But so are you. No, you're more than confident. You've trained for this. Right as his first punch is about to hit you, you telekinetically push yourself to the side, forcing his fist to miss... and yours to land right in his gut. Piccolo barely even registers that strike for a moment, mostly shocked that you were able to do that. Right as he starts to feel it, you unleash Tien's Machinegun Punch at him, and then knock him back with a kick to the head.

"YEAH! KEEP IT UP, MAPLE!" Goku shouts at you. Chi-chi's with him, cheering as well, as you can hear many people among the crowds cheering your name.

"KICK HIS ASS, SIS!" your brother shouts at you from the crowds.

Piccolo takes a moment to try and reorient himself. "Lucky shot."

"Or maybe I'm just far more skilled than you think I am." you taunt. Piccolo tries to move at you again, though you meet his charge, dodging under a kick and leaping at him with an uppercut, following throw by smacking him in the jaw with your elbow and landing another powerful, and far more painful kick to the head again. "D-DAMN IT... YOU BRAT!"

You're able to dodge and block most of his attacks, though some of them hit true. Finally seeing your opening, you jump up to move away from one of his strikes and land on his arm, kicking off it to get some distance.

Piccolo tries to attack you while you're still in close range, but with a Lightning-enhanced Izumi combo, you counter his attacks and pummel him with stunning palm-strikes. Piccolo's more than a little... shocked... by that. As you continue to attack Piccolo, you notice Goku's got the biggest, dumbest grin on his face. He's enjoying the hell out of this. Piccolo can't even THINK about trying to counter you; your moves are too quick, and your attacks start adding up.

"I'VE HAD IT WITH YOU, BRAT!" the Namekian roars into the air, trying to fling you off him. You move out of the way just in time, going back to normal. Piccolo slams his foot on the ground... and starts growing. His strength nearly doubles, sitting at around... 30,000, maybe. The crowds are shocked, and some start making murmurs of this all seeming familiar.

"SILENCE!" Piccolo roars as his foot slams into the arena, trying to crush you underneath. You move out of the way almost effortlessly. He's not slower in this form... but his movements are a whole lot more obvious. And you're leagues faster.

"KAIO-KEN!" you roar, getting your Spirit Bits ready and going for Piccolo's joints. The giant Namekian moves to the air, but the bombardment is way, way harder to dodge when he's this big. "Everyone, don't fear!" you yell to the crowds. "I've helped defeat Piccolo before, and I'm more than capable of handling his son!"

Gasps fill the air as people take in what you just said. Piccolo is surprised, but tries his best to swat away the Spirit Bits. It gives you the right opportunity to... start charging. You place your hands out, and for as long as he'll let you, you charge, with everything you have, landing a couple kicks on Piccolo as you do. Your Kaio-ken fades, and the Spirit Bits empty into him. Piccolo... is furious. "NO. NO! I REFUSE TO LET THIS END HERE!" He places his hands forward, building up as much energy as he has left.

At a full charge, you flare up the Kaio-ken once more, and have your Spirit Bits form a gate... time to amplify this! "DENJIN!" You cup your hands together, sparks flying, everyone on the edge of their seats. Gods, you hope that this can hold... "Kaaaa... meeee... haaaaa... MEEEE..."

The same dark aura that you spotted in Garlic Jr.'s hands seems to build up in Piccolo's. "BAKURIKIMAHA!"

"HAAAAAAA!" you fling your hands forward, blasting your Denjin Kamehameha into your amplifier. It bursts out...

With the added burst of Ki, but only just, your attack overwhelms Piccolo's. The bright blue beam engulfs the giant Namekian, and ends up sending him flying... and flying... and flying... right into a mountain, with a loud, noticeable "boom."

The audience seem absolutely stunned, and the Announcer guy fails to say anything for almost half a minute. You float down and raise your fist into the air. The crowds then go absolutely wild. Finally, the Announcer calls the match. "That was spectacular! Unbelievable! Ladies and gentlemen, she's the Champion for a reason! Maple Mahogany has defeated Majunior, who she just claimed was the son of the nefarious King Piccolo who tried to take over the world three years prior! I would have a hard time believing it if I didn't see it for myself, but here we are!"

You breathe out a sigh of relief. Goku has the most excited look on his face right now. Chi-chi and Nam head over to tend to your... well, admittedly minor injuries. Goku gives you a pat on the back. "That was awesome! Great job, Maple!"

Goku's excitement is almost infectious. "Looking forward to our rematch, monkey boy, you better make it past the next round!"

"Only if you make it past me, first." Tien's voice tells you, to your surprise.

"Hey, you seem better. Trip give the A-OK?" Chi-chi asks. The triclops nods, Blue Launch around his arm with a relieved smile on her face.

You look out towards the distance, checking on the mountain where Piccolo landed. "...guys, spot me a Senzu."

Chi-chi looks at you curiously. "You're plenty healed, Maple, you don't really-"

"Trust me." you, keeping your focus in that direction. Goku hands you one of his, and before anyone can say anything else, you start flying up. "Chuu Lee, something to learn from this: often times it's better to help your foes than hurt them more."

"Help... them?" she asks curiously. You leave and let her think on that, heading over to Piccolo. You see the Namekian passed out, pretty badly damaged. Wow did you do a number on him... welp! Senzu time! You toss the bean in Piccolo's mouth, his eyes opening wide.

"Gah! Ah... y-you..." Piccolo's size returns to normal, himself checking over his body. He restores his outfit back to a pristine condition... of course, of course he has the Clothes Beam. Hah. Piccolo then starts glaring at you. "Why?"

"Because the little Tuffle girl has quite a mercy streak going for her. Much different from how she acted towards... well, you before, Piccolo."

Piccolo WANTS to attack you... but that got him curious. "...you could be trying to trick me."

Towa claps. "Bravo, bravo. You'll get him on your side, and then have someone else in league with your little merry band of fools." She tries to stroke her finger across your cheek, but you bat her hand away and turn around.

"Shut the hell up, Towa!" you and Piccolo bark at her. Well, she's not going away any time soon. "What do YOU want, anyway? Another picture? Autographed, this time? You can frame it and put it on your nightstand."

The blue demon woman's eye twitches, but she otherwise keeps her demeanor. "I'm here because I have business with King P-"

"Piccolo Jr." you correct her adamantly. "And what about Magil, is he on orders from you for some convoluted plan? Are you... after the Dragon Balls, or something?"

She smiles at you. "Clever little girl. I guess you did notice after all." Towa shrugs. "I merely want to help those in need. Better than hogging them all to yourself."

"Leave." Piccolo tells her.

Towa's expression becomes less amused. "Not before I take back what belongs to us." With a little wave of her staff, you notice a black aura appear around Piccolo... and then vanish. And his Power Level plummets, down to about... 9000. Piccolo stares in disbelief.

You turn back to Towa, glaring at her. "What did you do?!"

"That strength he seemed to try to rely on was pointless. I took it back." she tells you with a haughty laugh. "Oh come now, do you really think a lost, confused little boy like that deserves the power of a Demon? Especially after that pitiful display he put up against you, little Tuffle girl?"

You clench your fists tight, stamping towards her. "Towa, get the hell out of here or I swear I WILL slap you again."

The woman... does not take that well. Her eyes seem to flash for a moment and... y-you can't move. You try to struggle, even try to push yourself back with Telekinesis, but... you can't. Towa slowly steps towards you, a smile full of malice on her face. It... it's starting to get hard to breathe, like the air's thinned, and there's this ghostly pressure on your lungs. "I was careless, then. Let this serve as a reminder." She strokes a finger along your jaw, pushing your head up to face her, eyes... feeling like they're staring into your soul. "The only reason you and all your little friends are still alive is because your little group is useful to me. That can change at a whim. Get stronger." She leans in... and whispers into your ear, "Or else."

Her grip on your body weakens and... you fall to your knees. Gods... the hell even was that? You look up, and Towa's vanished again. Piccolo sighs. "I'm leaving. Don't follow me."

Chuu Lee seems to leap out of the arena, overjoyed. "I did it! I did it!"

You touch down next to your student, smiling wide. "Enjoying yourself?"

She nods enthusiastically at you, almost bouncing with excitement. Goku approaches soon after with Tien, and your brother telepathically asks what went down.

"Next match will be the legendary, notorious assassin Tao Pai Pai, a returning competitor to the Tournament, and the young Samurai, Yajirobe!"

Krillin seems to contemplate something, then talks it over with his students. Finally, he asks it aloud, "Guys, should we have someone head over to Capsule Corp. to protect the Dragon Ball there, or have it brought over here? If you want someone to head over, we're more than willing to go."

You go outside with Goku and Chuu Lee, Tien heading upstairs with Giran following him. Magil seems to have taken Piccolo's spot perching on the roof of the Tournament. You're a bit worried about the person fighting Garlic, he's not exactly the strongest competitor here... Power Level's maybe around 200, 250 at most. Garlic Jr. on the other hand... over 8000, at least, and possibly more.

"With these new competitors sizing each other up, who knows who'll come out on top! Let the eighth and final match of the first round, BEGIN!"

Immediately, Garlic Jr. seems to decide to show off, powering up and letting his aura flare up around him. He steps forward. "You really thought you could pull some sort of trick here? Oh how rich." Slowly, the Makyan makes his way towards his opponent. "As fun as it would be to end you here, I need you alive long enough for my dream to come true."

"Well young man, I'm not quite sure what dreams you've been having, but if it's the dream of a nice new home, I can set you up with a good deal!" Shen replies, stepping forward with a smile on his face.

"Going to play this game, are you?" Garlic shakes his head. "So sad." He immediately fires twin beams from his eyes... but Shen seems to slip backwards and fall out of the way, the tiles cracking underneath him. And... it keeps happening.

"Well, talk about a lucky slip, folks, Shen may not be the most graceful competitor here, but he certainly has luck on his side!"

Goku crosses his arms, eyeing the match suspiciously. "There's... something familiar about this Shen fellow."

Chuu Lee scratches her head. "His Ki is all off, like it doesn't... really belong to him."

"There's something else about him too." Goku adds. "Like I know him from somewhere..."

You look around as Shen continues with his tricks, noticing a very confused, and very worried Trip. Well, aren't going to get any answers by just waiting. You peek into Garlic Jr.'s mind, and...

'STAY STILL YOU GREEN BASTARD!'

...huh. Green? You check Shen's mind next...

'Almost ready... just have to get him when he least expects it...'

...you swear you can hear an echo in his voice, something, some... one else is in there. You cross your arms and legs, following this all. It keeps up like this for almost a whole minute, when suddenly...

"Got you!" Shen shouts as he dashes towards Garlic Jr. The Makyan tries to blast at him again, but... that strikes an Afterimage. Shen reappears behind Garlic and... places his hands forward, a small bottle dropping onto the floor.

Suddenly, you hear Master Roshi, of all people, shout at him from the crowds, "You young fool, that's suicidal! No kid can just up and use the Mafuba like that!"

Shen doesn't relent. "This is how it will end for you, Garlic! MAFUBA!"

A swirling vortex of energy seems to escape from Shen's hands, engulfing Garlic and bringing him into the air. For a moment, it almost seems like Shen will succeed on whatever goal he had set out for himself... but that fails when Garlic fires a beam at the bottle right before he hits, with the Makyan crashing to the ground and growling angrily at his opponent. "You... you DARE!"

Shen seems extremely exhausted now...

Shen is panting heavily, and while that took a lot out of him... he's still standing. Garlic is absolutely livid. "I've had enough of your games, Kami."

A blast bursts forth from Garlic Jr.'s hands, and, with less than a second to spare... Kami seems to appear in front of Shen, somehow escaping from his body. He takes the blast head-on... and it starts to circle around him, and... shrink him? Wait, is this what would have happened to you if you didn't dodge that? Gods, that was lucky... Garlic somehow is able to pull the shrunken Kami towards him. Then... the most malicious smile you've seen on his face appears.

You... hear Magil laugh softly above you, as Garlic pushes an unconscious Shen out of bounds, then heads out of the ring himself. The Announcer guy looks at him in disbelief, but has to make the call. "Sh-Shen, is, um, out of bounds, and King Piccolo is captured! Garlic Jr. is the winner! This concludes the first round of the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament! We will begin the second round after a quick lunch break!"

The crowds go nuts over your approval of his deed, chanting his name. Garlic turns to them and gives a graceful bow. "He wasn't the real threat here, of course. Your excellent handling of Majunior deserves more credit."

'What do you really want, Garlic? The Dragon Balls? Intend to trade him over in exchange for them?'

Garlic Jr. lets out a little chuckle, walking away, letting you read his next few thoughts. 'Of course not. Immortality is nice... but you can't do anything to me without risking losing the Dragon Balls. And I don't know about you, but that Magil fellow might not play by the rules when it comes to that monkey boy you fancy, Maple Mahogany.' He seems to conjure up a glass around Kami, sealing the aged Namekian inside. 'To say nothing of others that might end up hurt...'

Your face goes a little pale as a chill runs down your spine. You clench your fists and let him go. For now. He'll pay for this. A hand falls on your shoulder, causing you to jump a little. Goku. "We'll stop him."

You try to arrange things so Goku, Chuu Lee, and Yajirobe are all next to you, Chi-chi as well, while, Tien, Chiaotzu, Launch, and Tao are grouped together with Acer. "Chuu Lee, Yajirobe, you both need to be careful around Garlic Jr. and... in general. Someone's not going to play fair here."

"Understood, Master." she responds in... a far more eager tone than you'd like.

Yajirobe snorts. "Maple who was the one trying to actively avoid danger? Things get too heated for me, I'm calling it quits."

"Yeah, that sounds like you." Chi-chi adds in an annoyed tone. The young samurai glances at her and scoots away slightly, actively trying to not make eye contact for the rest of the time there.

"And Goku, I... you better be either facing me or Tien in the semi-finals." you tell the monkey boy. "Magil isn't a pushover, so don't hold back. And if... either of you end up fighting Garlic, need you to be prepared for that as well."

"Got it!" he responds in a very relaxed tone.

You try to contact Popo and explain the situation to him, and to your relief he believes there's a way to reverse what Garlic Jr. did to Kami. With your meal done and over with, Goku and Magil are called to the arena. The monkey boy does some stretches, getting himself pumped up. As dire as the situation's become... he's still same ol' Goku.
