We're trying another edit to research. You're back to 3 actions per turn, research is an action again, and still takes 2 turns, But can still do only one research per turn. This is because research at the time isn't accomplishing much, and honestly the focus needs to be building and expanding.

Your research on flesh golems completes, allowing you to create golems out of the corpses of fallen enemies. These golems are so far the weakest type you can make, but deals massive morale damage. Corpses are now a resource, and you take stock of those in the corpse room. A flesh golem costs 5 corpses. +20 corpses (many have rotted into disuse from the previous assaults, or been taken by scavengers. Now that you take careful stock of them, there should be no losses from here on out.)

(6/20) build 10 stone golems - You bolster your forces, creating a decently sized squad of stone golems. Each has extra arms, as you discovered that they can be quite useful. However, you have an accident halfway through one of the golems, causing some progress on it to be lost and some stone to be lost. -415 stone, + 10 multi arm stone golems

(15/20) build 12 iron golems (sawblades) - Continuing on the same train of thought, you create a decent sized squad of iron sawblade golems, saving a small amount of iron in the process. -470 iron, -60 gold, + 12 iron sawblade golems

(18/20) build siege golem - you take stock of your golems and, noticing surpus of wood, decide to build some siege golems as well. Since they will be ranged, they shouldn't have to encounter units in melee, and don't have to worry much about defense. You manage to make this batch with minimal wood. -200 wood, +4 siege golems.

It was a roll for another vote, so that's why

(19/20) research bone golems - Deciding that flesh golems may be useful, ones made out of pure bone would be more resilient, with a same amount of fear genereation

(18/20) build 4 flesh golems - you take the corpses of the fallen and set to work crafting them into the form of a golem. The work is grisly, and it'll take time to wash out, but you make four flesh golems, and end up being able to use some of the scraps you previously thought were lost as well. -18 corpses, +4 flesh golems

(19/20) make pit in hallway - you order your worklings to dig out a pit in the hallway, managing to avoid losing your sawblade trap. This runs the length of the hallway, and anyone why steps onto the stone bridge won't notice the trap until it is too late. the stone bridge would slide out to the side, being inconspicuous, and provide nowhere to hold onto. +40 stone

(14/20) build 10 worklings - stone. Stone is good, it can be used for worklings. Which can get more stone. Then it kinda spirals out of control, which is a good thing. -100 stone, +10 worklings (mining stone)

(13/20) scout Dvor - you send your doppelgolem out to Dvor, he blends in fine with the crowd, aside from a few strange looks. He determines that there are about 50-70 guards, primarily swordsmen, with a few archers. There are also stables by the barracks, suggesting that cavalry may also be a minor threat, though golems aren't very effected by charges. The clifftop manor is about as defended as the town, with 40-60 mercenaries defending it. If you don't attack the manor, the mercenaries probably won't aid the townsfolk.

(18/20) enhance dungeon (spikes) you expend some iron to create a veritable deathtrap at the bottom of your new bridge trap. Using a combination of iron and spite, you barb the spikes at the bottom of the pit. Anyone that falls in will have a very, very bad day. -50 iron

(a quick mention, i made a small mistake on the unit count, it was 10 multi arm golems added, not standard stone ones.)

You finish your research on bone golems, they require quite a bit more corpses, but are significantly stronger than flesh golems, and retain the same fear bonus. They cost 15 corpses.

You pride yourself over your work with the frogmen. They have learned to farm fish to some degree, and have begun growing some edible moss. They are still slimy and poor, but they now provide you with a more consistent levy.
+20 frogmen spearmen (reinforces automatically, rarely increases in size) weak units, low morale.

(17/20) build scarecrows - you haven't sat down to make these in a long time, and figure it's time to create some scarecrows again, to instill fear and because they're fairly cheap. -250 wood, -330 hay, + 9 scarecrows

(13/20) You know what? A wood shortage ain't gonna stop you. You send worklings off into distant farmer's fields, to steal without being discovered, and through sheer luck, they succeeded. They bring back several standard, not evil magic death scarecrows. You know, the kind in fields, used to scare crows. so you combine them and alter then, and lo and behold, you've created a few extra scarecrows. +3 scarecrows.

(15/20) raid Dvor - It's time to head out into the world, to pillage the unready. You have been silent for the past weeks, and are about to re-enter the world.

Map, because there's no point in reposting the same image. The cliff slopes down, so that you could approach from any of the three layers, if you wanted to assault the manor, the top layer would be best. For a quick, but heavily defended attack to subjugate, you could come in the middle layer and assault the town hall/guard house seperately, or come in at the quarry level, to raid stone and some poor residences.

>Elite units/bodyparts - consume vast amount of resources, possibly even large amount of gold, to create proper, sculpted or such to perfection golems or golem body parts. They will be, of course, of same size as regular golem, maybe a bit bigger, but like I said... QUALITY. It uses so many resources since trying to do perfection means we can't afford to make mistakes, so we will waste the done incorrectly parts.

Middle it is. Your army:
>3 war golem
>13 stone golems
>10 multi arm golems (stone)
>15 scarecrows.
>2 iron tail golems
>2 scorpion golems
>5 iron golems
>12 iron sawblade golems
>9 agile scorpion golems
>4 flesh golems
>20 frogmen spearmen

Your army barrels up the cliffside, Once near your target, you hear a horn blow, as you see a small army moving in. it appears to be about 30-40 stong, probably half the garrison, the only ones ready at the time.

This is a shitty elevation map, black means unpassable/sharp drops in elevation. Lighter colors are higher, and darker colors are lower. The enemy army will move in from above next round, you are located at the red dot.

Form three lines. Weaker units(Stone+war golems) in the front line, Stronger units(saw blades+ everything not in line 3) in the second. Third line is agile golems and frogmen.
Let's let them give up the slope advantage and charge us. Ideally we'll absorb most of them with the first and second lines, and we can flank with our third to deal with any outstanding threats. Frogmen are a good reserve unit.

you position yourself, your stone golems, multi arm golems, and iron golems begin a slow march down the center pass, while scarecrows, war golems, flesh golems, and iron sawblade golems head up the left pass. scorpions are on the right, with a nice height advantage, and the frogmen are behind the center group.

There are 10 archers, 25 swordsmen, and 5 cavalry. The archers are moving to the high ground on the pass to the left, their squad has 5 of the 25 swordsmen in it to defend against flanks, they appear to not have soon your troops on the hill. The 20 swordsmen and 5 cavalry are on a march down the center, and once they've entered into the pass, they stop their march and hold the line. The cavalry wait behind them, for an opportune moment to strike.

(22/60) Blue squad moves in, Reaching the group at the same time as red. Their front isn't very effective, the main front is what red squad is exerting, so blue simply supports, and tries to spook the soldiers. -1 scarecrow -4 swordsmen (deserted)

(41/60) Red squad utilizes its numbers, directing a full assault, the impatient frogmen join in as well, frothing and taking large bites out of the fallen soldiers. The golems in red, though standard, manage to absolutely crush most of the opposing troops. -1 stone golem. -11 swordsmen, -1 archer

(22/60) Green, the scorpion golem squad, simply fire upon the crowd, being the final straw, causing the men to start fleeing.

The garrison is either dead or deserted. You stroll into the town hall proudly with your golems, the town leader sits on a mat across from the entrance. Sorrow is drawn across his face.

You look at the chief in the eyes. "Whomever your lord used to be, is-"
"We're an independent village."
"Well that's perfect, now you're not. You pay taxes to me, and if someone has something to say about it, point them to me."
The man silently nods.
"So, I must ask, who lives in the manor up the hill? And why didn't he help?"
"That would be the local sheikh, Calu ad Uraii. he employs most of the village in the mines, and is part of the wealthy merchant family of Uraii. He does not care who claims to be sovereign of the village, as he makes his money from his monopoly on the caravans moving through the village. He is a reasonable man however, and please, do not fight him."

Gotta build up our empire, so we can eventually conquer the world and lead an empire.

On that note, we should build golems that can perform labour, to build favour with our subjugated towns and increase our tax income.

You nod silently to the chief, then head up the hill, followed by enough golems that will protect you, but obviously show that you aren't attacking. You approach the large front door, passing exquisite stone pillars and a pleasant garden on your way to the door. You grab a large silver knocker, and clang on the door a few times. You even step out of the golem armor, having it back you up while you wear just your iron armor. An excessively large man opens the door, standing easily 1 foot above your head, and your figure isn't exactly small. His shoulders remind you of an oxen, more than anything.

"Ah, I've been expecting you since you came knocking on the town gates. I am Calu ad Uraii, and this is my abode." He says, with the bow of a showman.

You step into the mansion and find it to be just as luxurious on the inside, a fountain is in the central room while smooth stone stairs spiral up to the second level of the mansion, a few guards stand still along the wall, most likely an even match for your golems. This building is in stark contrast to the dirt poor village below.

"So, I take it you are here for business?" Calu says, turning to face you directly.

>What do you say?

"Not at all, I trust that in the future, you will go to me for any trade opportunities first, yes? I'm more than willing to offer a small stipend for such exclusivity, when the time comes."

"Not at all, may I ask what you make your fortune in?"

"Fine stone, men out there need to build castles, and disgusting hardened dirt that some men use is of no use to them. I simply pay for the stone here at a premium price, then send my caravans across the land. Of course, other members of my family are a bit broader, but they are much further west, across the great desert. Somewhere I don't think you'll be worrying about any time soon."

You leave the village, smug in how well it all went.

(4/20) You begin to research what you could do to alter the human form, but you just keep running into walls, you won't be able to get this one out of your head for a while. (research done in 2 turns)

(13/20) stone sawblade golems -You are going into overdrive, making as many stone sawblade golems as you can, spending a few sleepless nights in the workshop working on this. -240 iron, -720 stone, +24 stone sawblade golems. Yeah, you've got an army going.

(12/20) You send your doppelganger to scout out the village of Quarr. This village has a large oasis, and the town built around it.

EVENT
A man is discovered exploring the area around your base, a Sultanian. He sees the entrance to your base and approaches it, waiting outside. You step outside to see what he has to offer.

"Greetings, Black king. I am an emissary of Sultan Al ad Ahuarim, and he requests your audience, it is not wise to refuse."

You agree to come with him, bringing your apprentice. You instruct your golems to defend the dungeon as usual, not changing much honestly. You travel for about a day, by covered wagon. It is actually quite a nice ride, the camels pulling the cart are friendly, and the free food is nice. Your apprentice indulges himself on niceities, but you can't say you're terribly invested in them. Soon enough, you see Al ad Ahuarim's castle, characterized by two rows of low stone walls, and an impressive garrison. You know his type though, he won't try to dishonorably kill you if he thinks he would defeat you fairly. Once you are stronger though, is another matter. You enter the throne room.

The sultan sits on his chair, white turban with signature red feather of the Ahuarim family atop his head.

"So, I hear you are a skilled golem smith?"

"The greatest of nearby countries, at least."

"I hope for your sake you aren't bluffing. I have a commission, if you are interested."

"Explain."

"I have recently come into a great deal of diamonds, a great deal indeed. I want you to make a golem out of them. The castle workshop will be surrounded by guards as you make it, so don't try anything stupid. The payment, is, lets say handsome, to say the least."

(33/60) While you enter no trance, everything still seems to fall into place. You carefully sculpt the body, reminiscent of the human form. However, the diamonds lend themselves to a more angular shape, so you combine the two, resulting in a form reminiscent of men that would leave an elf in envy of the human form.

The alchemy reacts with the diamonds, causing the finished product to take a sheen separate from the scattered diamonds that created it. (the dice roll, 100 means almost purely see through, absolute brilliance, while 1 means an almost bluish sheen, unable to see through the diamond, but still marvelous. >Accept payment for your work (you may keep it under your control, but would only be able to reclaim it once you're attacking the castle, which is further in the future)

But let's pitch our services, we may linger and tempt him for a whole squad!

And that would be something worth stealing
>>
>>42588376

>Accept payment.

Okay guys, let's keep the swoll golem here and use that gold to make a GOLDEN GOLEM. Either one that regenerates or one that uses magic.

Can we make THAT one more of Gundam/Eva design then? This one is more swoll, the gold one, which will be our temporary boss-golem, will be more of a mecha? I mean, if it will be ours, we have no trouble with making it look scary, creepy or such
>>
>>42588376

>Accept payment for your work

Ask him for a bit of silver as a bonues. Then we craft that into a golem and ride home on it, shiny and chrome.

"This, truly my greatest work. I am so over joyed to work for you on this If you ever have something so wonderful in your Imagination please think of me I hope we will have a great artistic relationship

Let's research gold magic rods to cast spells or such.

That lance of longinus? It's actually a magic rod in form of a weapon. It shoots lasers

Let's Design Golem!
Eva shape is good, we want it scary, a champion to strike fear in the hearts of men.

I want it to hava a head like Noumu's, which is Eva like enough to fit in one body without looking silly.
>>
>>42588604
That head looks more like the Mass Produced Evangelions...

Point one of the pics from this thread, say which one fits better as the golden/silver golem
>>
>>42588642
None of them. They all either look like paladins or twigs. May be scary if they are 3M tall, but they are not inherently spooky.

You gladly accept the payment. +2200 gold
"If you ever need someone to make more art, please contact me" You say with a grin. To him, it means you enjoy payment. To you, the grin means that you've got a devious plan.

For transmuting gold to silver, it's a 1 to 1 cost ratio, because silver is so similar to gold, but still holds value.

You return to your base, 2200 gold richer, and with your apprentice who quite frankly didn't do anything. He returns to his room, and you return to planning.

Choose 3 actions:
>Loot
>Build golems
>Enhance dungeon (how?)
>Send worklings to gather resources
>>
>>42588785
>Build golems
>Enhance dungeon
Boiling oil comes from the ceiling in the hallway
>>
>>42588785
>>Enhance dungeon (how?)
put some saw blade in the pit trap so even if they survive the spikes the climb up and get cut in half.
perhaps a few arrow/needle ones too
>>
>>42588785
Can we ask the frogmen if they know of any strange mineral nodes?
>>
>>42588785
Is are base cave like or is more polished in appearance?
>>
Rolled 11, 19, 14 = 44 (3d20)

>>42588785
>Enhance dungeon(another room)(saw blade + projectile traps)
>Worklings gather stone
>Raid water village we scouted
>>
>>42588746
Why not make them 3 feet tall, then?

AND WE HAVE SCARECROW GOLEMS. SPOOKY ENUFF!

But okay. This pic?

>Build Golden Golem. Make it scary.

Can we later enhance the golden golem to work well with magic or we need to have it first?

>Enhance Dungeon: Boiling Oil
>Ask frogmen about any strange materials. And send worklings to get them, if we can
>>
>>42588785
I was thinking of expanding the entrance make a long hall before they enter the main dungeon with ample natural light and a fuck tone of them flowers growing along the walls, and sings saying things like "remember to stop and smell the flowers before you die this is your last chance at seeing something beautiful before the borrowers that lie just beyond this place."
>>
>>42588785
>Build golems
Debrief the frogmen to see what they thought of the battle
>>
Rolled 10, 4, 1 = 15 (3d20)

>>42588785
>Learn what we can from the Frogmen.
>Build worklings(Set them to gather stone)
>Enhance dungeon (enhance living area with a larder, kitchen, Dining Room, and Library.)
>>
>>42588926
Meant to say 3 meter tall
>>
Rolled 9, 1, 19 = 29 (3d20)

>>42588912
this
>>
Rolled 4, 15, 11 = 30 (3d20)

>>42588912
>>
>>42588926
I'm not saying it's a bad design, but it looks TOO good, too mech, little golem.

But yeah, 3 Meters tall would work, but it would be better if we get it even bigger!

I'd like it to be more like pic, wider, blockier.
>>
Rolled 8, 12, 5 = 25 (3d20)

>>42589047
this
>>
>>42589094
Guys, we need to learn how to recycle our golems. Let's modify each one so that they are effectively like lego sculptures. With the right twists and turns you could take the arm that broke off of one golem and place it on a golem that lost his in combat. It would save time, energy, and resources.
>>
Rolled 8, 8, 17 = 33 (3d20)

>>42589047
I vote for this
>>
Rolled 11, 17, 10 = 38 (3d20)

>>42589047
This for sure.
>>
Rolled 14, 9, 5 = 28 (3d20)

>>42589047
>>
Rolled 10, 17, 6 = 33 (3d20)

>>42589047
This. We must reach 1k worklings.
And then proceed to mine out the entirety of the earth's mantle and turn it into a golem.
>>
>>42589216
The more bulky it is, the more gold it will take and the slower it will be. Let's go for something... lighter. More agile.
>>
>>42589373
Let's first learn how to make durable gold, be it with runes or alloys, because full gold, if blocky wil be slow as molasses, and if thin will sink, and every step will stab the floor.
>>
>>42589448

So let's make a light golem.

So we have to learn magic to enhance durability/decrease weight in the process of creating golem, to ensure these are not just runes but integral part of golem or its material.
>>
>>42589448
no we SHOULD go for the gold golem. But it needs to be a molten gold golem. That way it rams into the enemy and boils them alive.
>>
>>42589565
So a golden T-1000.

I agree.

It divides itself into coins, as gold treasure, then once picked up, covers the person who had it and kills it or uses its body as chassis or such.

>>42589222

I know there were votes for the other one first, but this one got a few more and I can't run for much longer, and raids need a bit of time

(10/20) learn from frogmen - You head into the caves, and call chief whatshisname. You never bothered to remember it. You ask them about anything different in the caves, such as strange ore or unfamiliar locations. A small group of warriors approach you.

"We saw it, dark, evil magic place. Old stone cut to unnatural cave. Filled with walking dead-men. We ran, but it still there."

So it seemed through that broken speech, that there are some ruins with animated skeletons guarding it. Interesting.

(12/20) more worklings - you figure more stone is always good. -100 stone, +10 worklings (mining stone)

(17/20) enhance dungeon, living conditions - You are tired of simply sleeping on a hay bed, eating on a hay bed, and planning on a hay bed. You set your mass of worklings to work, digging out several rooms a great kitchen, for food prep. Worklings make surprisingly good cooks. A nice larder, for food. A grand dining room, with a stone table you carved yourself, and a library, to store books. If you wanted, you'd be able to house quite a few allies here, much like Daewyn. -100 wood, +250 stone.

And sorry, but I gotta wake up early for a job tomorrow morning, and am getting tired. Sorry for those interruptions in the middle too. Out of my control.

cont with summary
>>
>>42589565
I know we magic and stuff, but thats way too much power, and way too prone to burn our house down.
>>
>>42589625
Gold is perfect for magical and transmutation.

Let's either make magic-canon or such mecha golem... Or a liquid gold T-1000
>>
>>42589665
Can we have a Warhammer/Canon?
In the golem I mean, it would be quite a surprise to see your opponent grab it's hammer backwards and then kill one of your allies from a distance of 2 yards (no idea how big is a yard TBH)
>>
>>42589607

Materials:
>2870 gold (+15)
>170 stone(+10) [+35]
>295 iron (+5) [+15]
>371 wood [+10]
>460 hay (+5)
>10 steel
>10 tearbane flowers
>1 topaz
>2 corpses

Units:
>3 war golem
>4 stone golems
>3 multi arm golems (stone)
>9 scarecrows.
>2 iron tail golems
>2 scorpion golems
>5 iron golems
>10 iron sawblade golems
>9 agile scorpion golems
>3 flesh golems
>20 frogmen spearmen
>4 wooden siege golems
>1 doppelgolem
>70 worklings

And with that, I'm off.

About a meter.

Next time we can research something, we need to see if we can get workerlings to help make golems. It would help our army grow quicker than 10 max a turn, and with the increased number of workers, resources wouldn't be a worry.
>>
>>42590526
We have to research an assembly line.

Also, make a HUGE golem, doesn't matter if stone, but I'm talking about a 15-20M golem.

Why make a huge golem when we could make them able to combine themselves if need be? it saves the resources and looks terrifying and confusing as hell to the enemies .
