“Houki, follow me.” you tell her as you start to quickly gain altitude.

Houki nods and follows you up to the until you are at the correct altitude. You circle around to get the sun behind you.

“Ready?” you ask.

“Yes.” Houki answers, waiting for your lead.

With that you drop down head first with your engines pouring all your thrust downwards. Houki follows you racing down with some separation. With Gram deployed, you just watch as Gospel gets bigger and bigger, waiting for the last moment to attack.

Gospel reacts at the last second but your high speed doesn't give an opportunity for Gospel to escape. Your fire from Gram grabs and keeps her attention on you. While Gospel is able to nimble dodge your fire, this keeps her occupied enough for Houki to strike.

“HAAAA!” Houki yells out as she strikes Gospel.

Houki's strike cleanly hits Gospel sending her reeling. But that gap lets Gospel return a barrage of plasma bullets. Houki is able to dodge but forces her to disengage. You finish your high-g turn to reengage Gospel. Your fire forces Gospel to orientate onto you. The burst of plasma fire at you keeps you from getting any solid hits. But your kinetic penetrators forces Gospel into only using defensive fire. The exchange of fire between the two of you forces both of you to close the gap to even try and get a good hit.

As you are about to get into knife fighting range with Gospel, Houki tells you, “John, hold her there and I'll attack from the other side.”

“Go!” you yell out as rush through Gospel's defensive fire.

You drop Gram and deploy the Balder longsword as you half control crash, half strike into Gospel. The impact send the two of you tumbling away as you are locked into each others grip. Gospel's armored gauntlet holds onto Balder's blade while your hand is locked onto her shoulder. You both use your thrusters to stop tumbling but you keep Gospel's back to Houki just long enough for her to strike.

Unfortunately Gospel has other ideas. She fully spreads her wing pylons and charges them up for a heavy plasma barrage.

[Disengage immediately.] Reinforce warns you on your HUD.

“DEYA!” Houki yells out as she attacks Gospel.

You break your hold on Gospel and angle your engines at her. You burn away as fast as you could but not quick enough to avoid the incoming fire. The sheer saturation of fire prevents you from avoiding it all. You can taste the heat and ozone as the plasma ripples across your shields.

[Shields down to 81%.] Reinforce informs you as Houki barrels through the plasma to land another heavy blow against Gospel.

Gospel now clear of both of you, fires her engines taking her away from both of you. You give chase as Houki is turning around to follow.

“Damn, that was only a glancing hit too.” you say to yourself as you give chase.

[Silverio Gospel has a shield and armor advantage on the Maeve.] Reinforce quickly informs you.

You return fire with Gram to keep Gospel from getting any more distance. A quick glance backwards has Houki catching up to you.

“You ok?” you ask Houki over the comms.

“I'm fine. It didn't really damage my shields that much.” Houki answers as she evades another burst of plasma bullets.

Your mind races to find a way to get the upper hand as you continue to exchange fire with Gram. You and Houki are able to land a couple of hits but that seems to do minimal damage against Gospel. Meanwhile, Gospel is able to whittle away at your shields as you dodge or get close and quickly destroy your shields.

“Yes.” Houki answers in return.

The two of you continue to chase after Gospel. You slowly get closer but Gospel is still keeping her distance with her punishing rate of fire. This is going to be a long fight.

“I'll try and slow it down.” Houki tells you as she breaks off from you.

“Don't get reckless Houki.” you reply as you deploy the Witchcraft recoil-less rifle opposite to Gram.

The plasma barrage from Gospel begins to concentrate on your vector. You can dodge through the plasma until you see a trio of red beams flash in front of Gospel. Taking this opportunity, you rush in and open fire with both Gram and Witchcraft.

Sparks from Gram's kinetic perpetrators hit against Silverio Gospel as the HESH shell hits and explodes against Gospel's shield. In return, the defense fire against you sharply increasing until it's a downpour of plasma bullets. You stop your fire to avoid the downpour, only to see Gospel has switched targets to Houki.

“Houki, she's coming for you!” you yell at her over the comms.

“Let her come.” Houki replies with what you think was overconfidence in her voice.

Gospel flies a straight path toward Houki, who isn't even trying to avoid the coming attack.

With Gospel heading straight for Houki, you deploy Fragarch from the right wing pylon. You fully extend it, aim and and squeeze the trigger. The kinetic penetrator in an instant heads traces a glowing path for Gospel's center mass. As if knowing the slug was coming, Gospel comes to a crash stop. Simply letting the slug pass just in front of it. You fire again, only to have Gospel dodge it by continuing towards Houki.

“Thanks John.” Houki says proudly as she rushes headlong into Gospel.

<Data confirms that Silverio Gospel is able to evade your fire by analyzing the sensor data and the position of the barrel.> Reinforce tells you.

“Just like with Rin.” you reply, remembering how Reinforce was able to predict where Rin would fire with her Dragon cannons.

You quickly collapse Fragarch and deploy Gram to your left hand. Thinking that massed fire will be more effective than accurate fire.

<Correct.> Reinforce replies.

“Crap, so that's why.” you tell Reinforce as you rush towards Houki.

<Yes. But you have an advantage in close range due to the Silverio Gospel over-relying on it.> Reinforce informs you.

“Almost as if it's automatic.” you say thinking out loud just as Houki and Gospel merge into melee combat.

Unable to get any clean shots at this range, you are forced to get closer. Unfortunately for Houki, Gospel is slowly outmaneuvering Houki. Using Gospel's high rate of fire, Houki is unable to land and clean hits. Forcing Houki to over commit, Houki rushes forward with a downward slash. Gospel easily dodges the attack and gets behind Houki. Try to prevent any damage done, you fire both Gram and Fragarch at Gospel. Gospel evades your fire by simply flipping upwards letting the slugs harmlessly pass below her.

Houki tries to disengage but Gospel begins to fire a barrage of plasma bullets only to be interrupted by a 5 blue laser beams slice against Gospel's shield.

“Better late than never.” you reply with a smile.

“Don't you know that a girl needs time to get ready.” Rin says as she is about to get into engagement range.

“Thanks for the save Cecilia.” Houki says as she increases the separation between her and Gospel.

“Of course.” Cecilia replies in between her laser fire, “ I cannot let a rival get ahead of me.”

Now with Cecilia adding to your weight of fire, Gospel is forced into breaking away. Before Gospel can reengage with your bolstered forces, you have to figure out how to proceed.

The three girls respond in agreement. Rin and Houki head straight for Silverio Gospel as you and Cecilia fire at her at long range.

“Don't be too accurate with your fire. Gospel has a similar fire avoidance system as Reinforce.” you inform Cecilia and Rin.

“Oh great, someone else can do that.” Rin replies incredulously.

“How annoying.” Cecilia adds.

The increased fire from you and Cecilia have made it harder for Gospel to attack either Rin or Houki at the merge. This forces Gospel into a more hit and run style of combat. Flitting between a burst of plasma fire at Houki or barrage of plasma bullets at Rin without any sort of accuracy. And if Gospel stops for a second, Cecilia and you unload onto her.

Slowly but surely, you are gaining the advantage. As if also knowing this, Gospel disengages from Houki and Rin and flies towards Cecilia.

“Take this.” Cecilia says as she fires off several missiles from her hip launchers.

Gospel is able to mostly dodge the missiles but is slightly hit the proximity detonations. Not slowing down as she goes straight for Cecilia, you only have two options.

“Cecilia break off!” you tell her.

“Roger.” Cecilia replies as she turn around and opens up her engines, burning away from Gospel.

You instead vector onto Gospel as she tries to chase after Cecilia. Once entering optimal range, you switch out Gram for the ADMM blister pack. Instantly achieving a hard lock, you unleash a torrent of micro-missiles.

Silverio Gospel first tries to dodge the missiles but instead is swarmed by over 2 dozen missiles. The ones that miss instead detonate nearby hitting Gospel from the sides and rear.

“Nice job with the targeting solutions Reinforce.” you tell her.

Gospel switches targets to you and begins to counterfire your missiles. You can dodge the barrage of plasma bullets but the missiles are unable to. This thins out the incoming missiles making it more manageable for Gospel.

“As if I will let you.” Cecilia yells out just before several blue lasers beams come slice into Gospel's shields from wildly different angles.

“Looks like you are getting better at using the improved bits.” you comment.

“It would have not been possible without you.” Cecilia replies happily.

Unable to dodge both the lasers and the missiles, Gospel decides to attack you. After a heavy barrage of plasma to clear the way, Gospel flies straight at you. Quickly closing the distance, you undeploy Fragarch and the blister pack for Balder and the CIWS. Just before the merge a large slug comes screaming in between the two of you followed by a shower of buckshot.

“As if I'll let you hurt my husband.” Laura yells out as she fires another shot from her railcannon.

“We saved the best for last.” Charlotte playfully says while continuing to show Gospel with buckshot.

Everyone without hesitation take their positions. Laura and Cecilia provide long range fire to suppress Gospel's movement. Houki and Rin go after Gospel in melee by using trading off hit and run attacks. Any time Gospel tries to get away, Charlotte massed firepower herds Gospel towards everyone else. You switch between helping Charlotte keeping Gospel contained and setting up combo attacks with Houki and Rin in melee.

“Husband, now!” Laura yells out just after her railcannon slug comes flying at Gospel.

“On it.” you reply as you come striking down on Gospel with your Balder longsword.

Gospel replies with a desperate barrage of plasma fire. You skillfully dodge through the inaccurate plasma shots to come down hard on Gospel. She tumbles away trying to get away only for Charlotte to find her.

“Got you.” Charlotte says while firing both of her shotguns at the same time.

Gospel is forced into wide turns to avoid the hail of buckshot. Caught in your net, Gospel's movement are becoming more erratic and desperate. As you fire Gram and Fragarch at Gospel to set up an attack for Rin, Gospel comes to a sudden stop. Gospel unleashes a wide area barrage against everyone in close by. The sheer torrential downpour of plasma bullets against Rin, Houki, Charlotte and you force you to break away and get some distance.

Through the barrage of plasma, you can see Silverio Gospel being surrounded by plasma from behind. Surrounded by a sphere of plasma, Gospel is hidden away from your view.

“What is Gospel doing?” Rin asks as she keeps her distance from the plasma sphere.

“John, you know the equipment Gospel uses. Do you have any idea what it's doing?” Charlotte asks, taking a position to your side.

“I have no idea.” you answer, unable to figure out what Gospel is doing.

You wait for a couple of seconds before the plasma sphere begins to fade away. Silverio Gospel is floating there, unaware of the outside world as 6 wings sprout from it's back.

“Shit, is that second shift?” Laura lets out in shock.

“Did you say second shift?” Ms Orimura says shocked, after all the time silently listening in on your comms.

“But that isn't possible. The pilot is still unconscious.” Ms Yamada comments in abject shock over the comms.

This wasn't mentioned in the brief at all.
