Yeah, it happened when I played my first D&D 3.5 campaign. I had like a fuck-ton of backstory written out, reasons for the character's clothing, personal items and mannerisms explained, but I never got to really flesh them out among my other players or the DM.

Haha. Nah nothing like that it seemed like anytime I wrote stuff out for them they'd latch onto something completely mundane or useless and assign significant value and importance to it. Like a dull rusty sword above a fireplace in an old mans home. They took it to mean he was a sword master who retired and that was the sword of legends. Didn't help me denying everything just made them want it more and for training from him. They got it in the form of household chores. Hahaha
