We have no ninjutsu worth shit, we have no long range shit, and our genjutsu skill is garbage, or I would say we should try and invest in that to win this fight. I don't see us winning barring major plot armour or QM fiat.

Training in sword would give us a tiny bit of advantage over Lee in melee reach while making our melee attacks comparable to the pure DESTRUCTION that is Lee's fists, because we sure as hell aren't doing any ranged explosive tag shit at high enough speed to land a hit on him. If we have a sword, Lee at least has to get AROUND that to attack us, and in melee that limits his options somewhat. I still don't see us winning, even with it, but right now it is our best option. The real question here is who our trainer is going to be and what they teach us, because for the time being we are SOL

One problem with Kon is that he has had no time nor opportunity to develop his own style or jutsu specialization. Lee has tai, Naruto has clones, even Tenten has her weapon specialization. Kon has some tags that go boom, which while awesome, will only be effective against weaker enemies and the like.

I' don't have a plan yet, because our kekkei genkai and/or nature affinity will determine what is and isn't a viable strategy, as well as how we should allot our month worth of training time. So our first order of business is finding out who Kakashi has planned to train us. Second order of business is to figure out our nature affinity. Third is to remind Jiraiya that our parents gave their lives for the village, and it's a massive middle finger to us and to them that nobody seems willing or able to tell us anything about them.

Also we're as smart as Sasuke and our chakra control is as good as Sakura's, so there's no reason we shouldn't be able to at least shore up our lousy genjutsu. At least spend a little time learning how to detect and counter it.

You know what we need if we have explosion release? A chakra blade shaped like a butterfly knife. Parry with the wide side of the blade and force an explosion out of that surface.

It'd almost be like an exploding shield. Nintaijutsu with this would basically give us reactive armor, too.
