It's been a while since I've ran a quest, so bear with me. Advise and criticism is always welcome, I'm trying to get better while entertaining /tg/.

Ah, hello there. Welcome to the world of Pokemon. My name is Hickory, but most people call me the Pokemon Sage. We live in a world between the Gods and the mortals. Many of the beings of this world have absorbed the grace of the Gods above, giving them amazing and unique powers. We call these beings Pokemon. People often try to befriend these beings, forming lasting relationships that last a lifetime. With these Pokemon, we battle, grow, and learn.

I'm sorry, I've been rambling. What's your name again?
>name?
feel free to post images that you think might be useful in this quest

Personal favorite is season 3's, but the first is still the iconic Pokemon song. That said, all are pretty great

>>
>>42308852

>>
>>42309107
All, but I'm a bit rusty with the newest gen. Been playing my game boy cartridges before they die.

Anyway, Cain takes it. Guess what your rival's name is?

Now, for the next vote
>Hunter Gatherer: stronger, faster, and able to live without rations if in the wild.

It was close, but Hunter gatherer takes it. Almost there

Choose one heirloom/special item
>special weapon
A strange blade that is amazingly stronger than normal stone blades. Sparkles like running water in the sun.
>bone flute
A flute made from the bone of a Chatot. You aren't terrible with it.
>Skins
A sheaf of cured skins, with the runes of sages splayed across them. Lists a number of Pokemon, and compiled knowledge about them. Comes with a small case of writing utensils so you can add to it. You are better at drawing.
>Ceremonial clothing
A special set of clothing, with significance to many tribes. Wearing these will make you seem more dignified, and help in diplomacy.

Okay, almost done

Pick your starting location. This decides the general type of Pokemon you can get as a starter.
>the red valley
Due to the high amount of iron and various other metals present, many of the local Pokemon have incorporated these ores into their very bodies.
>the sand sea
A great desert in the southern part of the region. Dwellers here cluster around the small oasis, as do many of the wild Pokemon
>the Dark Cave
Called this for a number of reasons, the Dark cave is a dark(duh), wet environment where no light enters. Home to many nocturnal Pokemon, it is believed cursed.
>Green River
A large river that crosses the region, home to a number of villages and small cities. The waters pass through a number of rapids and waterfalls, providing its inhabitants with plenty of oxygen. Due to this, algae blooms happen periodically, lending the river it's name.
>the Endless forest
A massive forest, that no tribe has ever managed to map out. The trees grow as tall as giants, and so thick that it takes an hour to walk around one.
>Dragonback Mountain range
From far off, this cluster of mountains have the appearance of, well, a dragon's back. The tops are stuck in an endless winter, thawing only on the hottest days of summer. A tribe, know for their fermented Apricorns, lives up there.
>Charring Heights
A land of cliffs, billowing smoke, and blasts of steaming water. Only the bravest chose to venture here, as the Pokemon are known for their hostility. However, those that make it often come back with soft yellow rocks, worth weeks of work's products

>>42309861

Will we lead legions of warriors astride massive living war machines and dominate the land?

>Dragonback Mountains
Don't worry if your favorite didn't win, there will be chances to get more Pokemon. Don't expect a full team though, at least not for a long time. I was hoping for Endless forest personally[/spoiler

You are Cain, a son of the Blue Skins tribe. Native to the Endless forest, you have been forced from your home range by a massive forest fire.

The flames began at dawn, blasting through the branches and igniting the bushes below. Quickly, the roar of the fire covered the screams of your tribe. Fire is nothing new, your tribe often lights them after staying in one place for a while, but always controlled. Contained. Useful. Now, the flame flies erratically, controlled by no hand but the wind's. You were lucky, a scant few weeks from your 16th name day, and as fit as any other. Years of hunting with your brothers trained your reflexes, along with the muscles beneath your tanned skin.

With the instincts of a hunter, you awoke as the jets of blue and red fire pored into your camp. The low leather tent, a number of Rattatta skins stitched together into a rectangle, collapsed over you. Fighting the tent off, you grabbed your hunting spear, a backpack, waterskin, and your treasured set of skins, all sitting within easy reach. Your brothers, numbering around a dozen, were all nearby. With their help, you attempted to gather the tribe. After a moment, you managed to collect all of the tribe.

Your tribe abandoned most of its possessions, years of labor, burned to ashes in seconds. Yet, even without anything to hold you back, the fire seemed to keep pace. The flame was unrelenting, boiling the air and igniting the ground beneath your feet.

Your tribe was lost when a giant fell, the redwood from the time of gods losing to the infernal fire. A sharp cracking was all that allowed you to evade the blazing branches. The rest of your tribe made it to the other side of the wall of flame, at least you hope it is so.

You spent three days running, a feat that would normally have made you proud, escaping from the fire. Finally, you managed to hide from it in a lake, hidden beneath a fallen log. When you returned to the fallen giant, the ashes were too thick to find any tracks.

Your book of skins, handed down for generations, was damaged. Many of the pages were burned, the skin crumbling beneath your fingers. 46 pages remain, from over a hundred. The ones that remain, are some of the newest, the skins still somewhat resistant to flame. They still store more knowledge than you could learn in a lifetime, but you weep for the lost pages.

After collecting as much food as you can carry, you start your journey.

A week passes, with no signs of your tribe. Your stock of pemmican is almost gone, and the plants of the Dragonback Mountains are more alien than not. The only saving grace is that the snows are close to gone, the bare earth peaking out through the slush. You take shelter beneath a tree, the leaves small green spikes. The branches seem to burn easily, popping and cracking. Stripping your tunic off, you begin washing with what clean snow is available. You spot a number of tracks, all of which could yield food.

Follow the:

You pull your drying tunic back on, the fabric woven from the wool of a Gogoat. Banking the fire, you strap the (can I just start calling it your pokedex? We all know what it is) book of skins to your hip, a newly made wooden case surrounding it. No matter what happens, it's not going to get damaged.

Armed with your flint spear, you set out across the hillside. The tracks you're following stop periodically, with evidence of the Pokemon pushing at the snow with a paw or snout. Tasting the earth, you can recognize that the Pokemon was eating Caterpie and tree roots. You'll have to remember to record that, it's useful knowledge for anyone that might journey to this land in the future.

The hours pass, shadows sliding farther and farther down the slope. The tracks are getting fresher, the juices of the cater pie still warm. The air grows colder, sinking towards freezing despite being the height of summer. You wish for thicker clothing, your current set fit for the temperate Endless Forest. Finally, as the sun is a mere finger's width from touching the earth, you spot your prey.

The Pokemon is short and furry, only a foot high, with striped hair that trails behind it. At the moment, it's rooting around in the dirt, head buried in pursuit of food. It's short legs are brace, and it's head is working hard side to side. Either it found a particularly stubborn root, or there's a Metapod down there. The pokemon's so small, you doubt it would be able to break the hard chrysalis.
>what do?

I'm in favor of starting a group of mountain bandits.

You are trying to refill your pokedex, and what better way than to study a Pokemon up close?

Pulling a berry from your carrying pouch, you stab through it with your spear. The red juice trickles down the knapped stone, soaking into the cord that holds it in place. Walking slowly, you whistle.

"Swi?" The Pokemon looks up from its opponent, a questioning squeal coming from its snout. The small eyes, almost hidden by dark brown hair, widen slightly when it sees you.

You slowly place the spear at the pokemon's feet, and pull it back. The berry catches on a rock, sliding from the weapon to sit in front of the Pokemon. It pauses, then slowly, keeping an eye on you, takes a bite from the berry. You place your spear on the ground, then sit cross legged across from the Pokemon while it eats.

The Pokemon finishes the berry, then stands still. It seems to be wavering between running, returning to its battle, and asking for more berries.

Pulling another berry from your pouch(3 left), you hold it out for the Pokemon to look at. He doesn't move, but he also doesn't run away.

You take a small bite out of the berry, a spray of red bursting into the air. The fruit gives you a familiar rush, the juice full of energy. Often, you would at them on long hunts, to stay awake despite being awake all night.

You hold out your hand again, the red juice pooling in your palm. The Swinub steps tentatively forward, sinking into the snow slightly. It pauses right next to your hand, nostrils flaring. Finally, after what seems like an hour, he starts licking at the fruit juice. It's tongue rasps against your hand, taking in as much of the liquid as possible. The small Pokemon steps up onto your knee to get a better angle on the fruit, standing almost upright and biting into the dimpled berry.

"Swinub! Inub!" The Pokemon pushes its head against your hand, asking for more. When you show that you're not holding any(guess he can't smell through your pack), the swinub curls up, leaning against your leg.

You lower your hand onto Swinub's back, the heat rising from the small pokemon's body. No wonder its able to survive up here, it feels like it has a fire nestled within its body. You mark that down as something to add to the book, once you get the chance.

Carey, you stand up, lowering the swinub to the ground. Grabbing up your spear, you step over to the hole the Pokemon dug. A metapod sits, half buried in the dirt. You pull your pokedex out, and check the drawing against the Pokemon. In the dex, it says that they are shades of green, yet this one is a yellow brown. The pokedex does mention that Caterpie and Metapod will spend most of their lives underground, waiting for the day the snows around them melt. For the next week, they breed and fight for mating rights. Afterwards, they die.

>>metapods are good eating, and swinub seems to like them

This is assuming we're not absolutely retarded, and can compare shapes.

I mean, with the Pokedex on hand, we'd have to have some form of brain damage to not be able to distinguish a Metapod from a Kakuna.
>>
>>42313738

Flipping your spear around, you jab the hardwood end of the spear into the loose dirt next to the Metapod. Levering it out of the hole, you push it to the side. The slick carapace slides easily through the thin layer of snow.

You circle the hole, collecting firewood. The pine trees provide many branches full of resin, the gel oozing from the broken ends. You pile the tinder in the hole to protect it from the wind, and place a small bit of wood shavings into your fire piston. You place the ember in the ball of tinder, and a trickle of smoke rises from the hole as you blow.

An low buzzing comes from behind you, like two pieces of leather stretched tight and hit. You turn, still sheltering the fledgling flame. A Pokemon is rising from cocoon, clear wings reverberating in the cold air. Almost as large as swinub, but whip thin and armed with two small spikes in place of its hands.

>A wild Beedrill has Appeared
>sucks to be you!

>what do?
>write in

hunters mainly go for land Pokemon, the gatherers are the ones that harvest Metapod and Kakuna. It's an easy mistake for someone who only has a passing knowledge about them. The Beedrill pages were also burned.

Comparing the tastes, Cain could easily tell if it was a weedle or a caterpie

You roll to the side, kicking up a spray of snow as you go. Three finger sized spikes shoot through the area you sat in a mere second ago, flying down the hill. Mental note to self, add this to its sheet when this is all over.

You latch onto your spear, rising to a stop. Holding the blade overhead, you charge the Pokemon. Your first stab is knocked offline by one of the Pokemon's hands, the wood of the handle scarred from the blade. You swing the spear around, the end of your spear a thick bulb of polished roots. The shining wood end slams into carapace, throwing the wasp Pokemon through the air.

It attempts to right itself in the air, but isn't ready yet for flight. The Pokemon skids across the ground, coming to a halt thirty feet away. The monster's eyes narrow, and it plants it's spike arms in the ground.

Swinub has woken up in the commotion, and is now standing near you. However, he doesn't look that strong. Especially against whatever this Pokemon is.

You spin your spear back around, the sharp stone point catching the bloody light of the falling sun. With a scream, you charge forward at the small Pokemon. Pin Missles fly, but you dodge and weave through them. One sparks off of your spear, a chip of stone left behind in your charge.

"Swinub, use Tackle!" You shout, the furry boar leaping through the air with suprising agility. Swinub charges on the Beedrill's right, while you curve around to take it from the side.

Swinub, very surprisingly, beats you to the landed insect. Tucking his head, Swinub slams into monster's chest. With a sudden movement of its head, the ice Pokemon launches the bug into the air.

Your spear meets the Beedrill in midair, stabbing through its shoulder and wing. One of the arm spikes, easily the size of your spearhead, falls to sit in a puddle of melted snow.

Crippled, the insect Pokemon lashes out with its remaining arm. You parry it, gouging a line into the haft. Swinub rams the Pokemon again, flying through the air and slamming it into the ground. With unexpected ferocity, the little boar pulls the head from the wasp pokemon's body.

Swinub drops the head, then runs up to your side. He jumps up onto his hind legs, his forepaw only reaching your knee. Swinub looks up at you, his brown eyes searching for any injury on his friend. You reach down to pet him, scratching him behind the eyes. He whines a little, which seems odd to you. It's then when you stat to feel a pulsating heat on your arm. A small, jagged piece of grey chitin pokes through your tricep, embedded in the muscle. With a grunt of pain, you pull the spike through. Huh, good size for a fishing hook.

I don't want to think Monster Hunter (not that guy by the way). AoPH Quest did enough of that for six quests. It was hard to read because I signed up for a pokemon quest, never played a Monster Hunter game, and had 80% of the encounters for 20 threads be Monster Hunter bullshit.

I strongly encourage OP to stick to source material and watch the Celebi pokemon movie.

>>42316209
I think that would depend on the species, as some are super aggressive, or not very smart, while overs can literally read our mind.

what I meant by monster hunter is things like using scyther blades or scarmory feathers as weapons, or Lairon hide as armor, not literally monster hunter

>>42316101
Depends a lot on the person. Many use them for labor in farms, while some tribes use them much like normal animals. Then there are people who fight along side them, as soldiers or bandits. Many people have Pokemon though, roughly 60 percent. Most dont have more than two or three, due to the cost to feed them.
>>42316105
Later on, there might be a Celebi episode, just for fun.
>>42316131
Will do

It comes down to a lot of factors. Some Pokemon are easier to win over. You can defeat a few in battle and recruit them, but they're few and far between. Most are like animals, be nice to them and they might be willing to help you. There are a few that are untamable unless raised from egg/near egg. Most dragons are like this, as are many psychics and ghosts. I'm debating how to implement ghosts, but we'll cross that bridge when we reach it. If you'd have gone to the dark cave, there's a chance you would have gotten a ghost like Ghastly or (possibly) Honedge.
>>42316249
As much as I loved AoPH, I'm gonna be sticking to source. I've never played MH, but the implant parts were always interesting

What is it about the Celebi movie that you want me to notice? I got the idea for the pokedex from it, but it's been a long time.
>>42316267
Pretty much this
>>42316325
All those are possible, but most only happen at high levels. The people that can kill a Scyther are going to be people leading war bands, as Pokemon aren't easy to kill. You got a freshly hatched, low level Pokemon, and the crafting materials are going to reflect that.
>>
>>42316451
Go to suptg and read the bottom of the page, it should tell you how to do it. Or let OP do it or another anon do it if you're bad at being accurate.
>>
>>42316472
Celebi movie reminded me of this quest, was the only thing I remembered media wise that had any bearing on the time period and setting in question.

I enjoy this quest's premise.

I would like to see more of this quest. Maybe ran on anonkun for superior control fidelity, but that would be nitpicking.
>>
>>42316472
Realistic Bug honedge would be awesome
>>
>>42316249
>AoPH Quest did enough of that for six quests
Hahaha.

The only part of AoPH that was MH were the monsters. Everything else came from other sources or were too generic to matter. It wasn't MH in the least.
>>
>>42316565
There's a more recent movie with Arceus that has some time-travel shenanigans surrounding ancient times, though it's not very in depth.
>>
>>42316472
So, any relation to Professor Hickory?
>>
>>42316472
>All those are possible, but most only happen at high levels
yeah I know, it's just those were the first things to come to mind as examples. a lower level example would be Shieldon crest or shellder shells for shields
>>
>>42316472
Skarmory shed their feathers somewhat regularly, so they should be fairly easy to get and a step above stone weapons even if they're crap metal.
>>
>>42316605
In terms of stone age tech, stone and bone weapons were pretty much the best thing around, so getting bones from a pokemon or any sort of metal at all seems like it would be a huge improvement.
>>
>>42316630
the problem with shed Skarmory feathers are two fold. one you're in the Skarmory's hunting gounds, and two those are the worn down and dull feathers rather than prime ones.
>>
>>42316679
Worn down feathers can be sharpened, and are a shit ton better than stone weapons.
>>
>>42316570
>The only thing that matters
Pokemon source material would have let me visualize a monster much better. Getting a description of a 30 foot tall water monster with sharp spikes didn't do shit for me and ruined combat.
>>
>>42316679
>>42316737
by definition, any Steel types in a bone/wood/stone tech world is OP, whether or not it's actually steel or just iron/copper.
>>
>>42316595
I watched that much more recently but it doesn't have as much as I remember the Celebi movie having in terms of ideas and the whole neolithic era setting. It was a fully functioning city in the Arceus movie with metal weapons of war, incredible architecture, etc.
>>
>>42316737
stone age tech makes that somewhat more difficult, though there are pokemon that would make it easier(ie those with the ability Rough Skin, or hot enough fire to reforge it)
>>
>>42316821
Or simply use the proper stones.
>>
>>42316767
Hunting isn't about WHAT the prey is, but how you find out how to kill it. Tracking, baiting, trapping, learning its behaviours and limits.

>Pokemon source material would have let me visualize a monster much better. Getting a description of a 30 foot tall water monster with sharp spikes didn't do shit for me and ruined combat.
but I'm not actually sure what you mean by this.
>>
>>42316787
which is why it's only badasses that have scyther blades those things can cut straight through a tree in one hit.
>>42316877
with metal not being prevalent the knowledge of said stones may be lacking, after all making a stone spear sharp is completely differant than a metal spear
>>
>>42316877
And the fact that there's snail lava Pokemon that are as hot as the surface of the sun slithering around.
>>
>>42316904
Given their are plenty of pokemon made out of the proper stones, I imagine a few tribes can do it.

>>42316907
Yeah. Macargo op pls nerf.
>>
>>42316907
luckily those like in active volcanoes and we're unlikely to run into them. it's the supersonic birds of pray we need to worry about
>>
>>42316904
We can argue all day about the logistics of it, but take this beedrill for example. We beat it fairly easily and got a pair of thick chitin stingers dripping with poison. That's going to be equal to if not better than most stone spears one could make.
>>
>>42316902
I know what a Beedrill looks like, in general. I know what a Pikachu looks like. There are pictures for all of these things.

The monster hunter monsters are things I cannot visualize because I have nothing with which to do so. Because of that I could not form a plan of attack nor get engaged in the fight in general, it was mostly a 'spam this move we think is best' until something happens, which isn't very fun combat. The yuri Pokemon Quest with Gobble did combat much better, in my opinion, with less bullshit rolls.
>>
I'm wondering now if all pokemon are omnivorous or if there are dedicated carnivores and herbivores.

How would you guys feel about trying to tame a Heracross if we ever go back into the forest.
>>
>>42317042
there are Carnivores and herbivores, we got a Swinub which as it's based on a Boar is an Omnivore. an example of a Carnivore is the sharpedo or Garchomp, a milktanks are herbivores
>>
>>42317042
Lots of pokemon are called out as being carnivorous or herbivorous, berries usually being the exception.

Heracross drinks sap and nectar, for example.
>>
>>42317033
First of all, MH monsters all have actual models that you will usually get a 360 degree view on over the course of a fight. You get to see exactly what parts they've got, and how they flaunt them.

If that's too much trouble, there are pictures that do a pretty good job, better than the picture from a pokedex. Some of the older ones even have charts for hitzones.

If you object to using meta, you're using copious amounts of prior knowledge and perhaps Bulbadedia for pokemon, no?

Most importantly, you realize that there were actually people who HAVE played MH in there, right? People you can just ASK? Heck, you could have pointed out to Ygg if you his writing wasn't enough.

Yes. Quite a few people have Tropius', and breed them. The ones your tribe breeds has an entire ring of bananas around their necks, instead of just the 3/4 that you see in the sprite. It looks kinda like pic, but with around 12-16 bananas depending on the Pokemon.
>>42317269
Fought one a few decades ago. They're native to the lands to the north of your tribe, but are fairly rare. To befriend on is a lot of work, as they are quick to anger. Plus, they live in small packs.
>>42317343
Many water Pokemon live to the west of your lands, as the endless forest holds the beginning of the Green River. There are the occasional traders who navigate it and show off their Pokemon to the people of the forest. As for the axew, a man with it came to your village looking for people to join him in a journey up the Green river.

Swinub is new to you entirely, as far as you know, he wasn't in the pokedex even before it got damaged.

>>42317383
The bidoof family isn't a Pokemon many people had, but they were your main food source. They provide plenty of meat, little danger, and valuable furs for trade.

>>42317545
Thanks man

early plugs were to harness electricity from elekids

Huh, didn't know that was possible. The more you know!
>>
>>42317657
The Shinx family acted as wolves (beta predators?), and every now and then a Nidoking will try to set up a territory in the forest. There are tyrantrums in the forest, but they're so few in number that to see one is very rare. To see one and not get eaten is even rarer.

Unrelated, but there are a number of settlements in the endless forest. One lives almost entirely in the trees, coming down only to trade and hunt. Word in the village was that they were all scared of predators, and so chose to live out of reach. Of course, they soon discovered they weren't the only beings hiding in the branches...
>>
>>42317949
Living in the stone age pokemon world would be terrifying. Imagine running into a Hydreigon, the thing that still destroys modern cities in canon....
>>
>>42317996
Hydreigon nothing, Tyranitars, and Salamences are more worrying.
Garchomps are super sonic flying land sharks that can cut down trees with the airblades generated by their wake.
>>
>>42318118
a Tyranitar or Salamence has a tantrum and you need to redraw your maps because now you've got missing mountains
>>
>>42318118
Hydreigon is literally a flying rage monster, Tyranitars are content to eat mountains and not bother people usually.
>>
>>42318161
It's like people don't understand the difference between Godzilla and Ghidora
>>
>>42318161
Hydreigon may be flying omnivorous rage monsters that attack anything that moves, but they're less likely to be the end of your tribe than something that goes looking for fights and can smash mountains(Tyranitar), or something that has uncontrollable rage and can burn down fields and mountains(Salamence).
>>
>>42318351
I don't remember anything is Salamence's lore that says it has uncontrollable rage. Although Tyranitars do love to fight...
>>
>>42318447
most of Salamence's lore focus on how happy it is to finally fly, but emerald notes that when it gets angry it flies into an uncontrollable rage
>>
>>42318447
>It's uncontrollable if enraged. It flies around spouting flames and scorching fields and mountains.

Doesn't say it does it for fun, but they are basically nukes when compared to stone spears.

Anyway, I'm almost done. If anyone has ideas they'd like to see, post them.
>>
>>42317766
I want a Shinx so fucking bad. If we can get one young it'll be an incredibly valuable find. Swinub, Vulpix, and Shinx, we're basically going for maximum dog every element tier.

But yeah I've got a hard on for dog pokemon anyway so I don't know how much my input matters here. Just saying having any of the Shinx family is very useful as a hunting partner. Same with others in the 'dog' family, predisposed to working well with humans.
>>
>>42318544

It'd be cool to see a tribe that uses Houndor and Houndoom like early cultures used wolves.

Also a dragontamer and dragonbuster tribes would be cool.

If we ever get to the burning wastes, I'd love to flaming murderous velociraptors. Aka Charmeleons.
>>
>>42318820
I think it was pitched in qtg but ran in akun. Not joking when I say it didn't get very far off the ground.
>>
>>42318848
>flaming murderous velociraptors
Boner achieved. Can charmeleons learn flame charge/flame wheel?
>>
>>42318878
Via TM they can learn Flame charge. They default learn flame burst at level 32 and get stab with both.
>>
>>42318878
you never fully elaborated on how moves will be learned, how do they do it in the other pokemon quest?
>>
>>42318905
Well, time to figure out TM's. Gotta have flaming murderous velociraptors that are covered in even more flame and running at you while you're climbing a cliff.

I'm also tempted to do gradual evolution, where each level gives a Pokemon more and more traits like their next evolution. A charmander at level 12 for example would have the same coloration as a Charmeleon, and the beginning of the head spike thing. Would people like that, or would you prefer normal evolutions?
>>
>>42319000
I think I'd prefer normal evos outside of the mons just getting bigger as they age.
>>
>>42319000
That sounds pretty cool.
>>
>>42319000
Gradual is good. Also have TM's just be dedicated Training. TM is shot for training machine after all.

Flame Charge could just have been bred out of them as they were tamed for mass distribution.
>>
>>42319000
Gradual changes might be neat, though it's harder to keep it in mind and less of an exciting moment. Plus it means you have to keep stricter track of levels.
>>
>>42318940
Ah, sorry. I assumed people would have read Pokemon quest.

Basically, levels don't matter when learning a move. You have to get the Pokemon to figure out how to do it, it's already within their genetic code after all. Of course, they can only remember so many moves. Now, you can't just teach a magikarp hyperbeam. They must be able to use is naturally, and meet a few standards. You can't learn flare blitz before ember.

I think that's the way Gobble did it, I never got back into it after the break. So, if there's anyone whose still reading it knows anything else about it, speak up.
>>
>>42319232
Seems like a cool system, how would we know this In Character though? We've never seen a swinub so I'm assuming we don't know what type it is.
>>
>>42319284
We've seen people training their Pokemon before, and you're gonna meet some people soon, so you know what you have to do. You don't know Swinub is an ice type, but once you figure it out, you should get a move list with it. Pokedex's aren't unique to your tribe, but your's is still one of the better ones
>>
>>42319232
I don't think there was a hard cap on moves, just that some typically got replaced as you leveled. Like if you learn flamethrower, ember stops popping up as a battle option, but you still know it.

That said, I'm not sure how well that will work for this, since Gobble's setting is modern and assumed you had access to full move list to know what to teach, as well as controlling the mons more directly.

With this, we have very little information, and we're going to be fighting alongside rather than commanding. There isn't a feasible way we'll learn that Swinub can learn how to make Earthquakes or shoot Ice Beams just because he can throw mud around.
>>
>>42319363
I'm also worried we might run into an angry piloswine sow.....
>>
>>42319375
That makes sense. I'll add that, thank you.

Pokemon battles are going to be something we work out as we go, but I was thinking it would be double battles everywhere. You get an action, and you get to tell your Pokemon what to do. That's assuming you're fighting another trainer of course, not a wild Pokemon.

As for the lack of information, that's just another part of the setting. People are still learning about Pokemon, as they are just recently tamed.
>>
>>42319529
We need to get better weapons stat then. Where are the major cities located in this setting? Near the forest or somewhere else?
>>
>>42319630
There are a number of them scattered around the region. The closest is down the Green River, a week's journey minimum by foot, but only two by boat. The problem being, that the Green River is extremely violent upstream of the city. This is actually how the city grew, it is a trading center. People must stop and give their goods over to trade caravans if they want their goods to reach the lands in the Endless Forest.

If anyone knows a program that can make good maps that look like the ones from Pokemon, I'd love to give players a good view of the region.
>>
