It was not a good day. First we accidentally made a bandit behemoth go boom spewing forth all kinds of nastiness and damaging our base. That of course lured a ghoulish horde that we only barely were able to survive. Then when we were looking up a bot pattern that might be able to help us clean. Instead we accidentally stumbled upon a old strange payload slumbering from Fall which caused our electronics including bots to get all screwy. Finally when we attempted to fix the issue somehow instead our bots went rampant and released some kind of signal on top of it. At that point we gave up called in tek support and rad clean up in exchange for a hefty fee along with some rep penalty. On the plus side while they did their job we got some nifty fuel refinery plans put together very quality stuff too.

Welcome to the Post Apocalypse where no deed goes unpunished and enjoy your (not so) pleasant stay!

Teks are little more than halfway finished. They should be able to finish up this turn given their current rate of progress. They suggest that next time you be more careful digging through Old World files and electronics. You never know what sorta fucked up shit is hiding within...kinda like a rampant bot. Sure they (sometimes) appear normal on the outside but on the inside on the other hand...

Action 1 "You know that's actually a good point. The world hates a lot of people. Meaning there's a lot of people in need of help.

Okay, so our rep took a dive from the Tek Bandits but hey we all gotta survive and this world sucks for most. The difference is we don't have to worry about starving or dying of thirst and so far we haven't been wiped out.

I'm betting you there are people out there who have at least one of those problems.

MK Ninja, you can get on the ground better than any of us. Also sneak past the rampant bots. We need to improve our reputation again, go down on the ground and find some people in serious need, starving, dying of thirst, or just have no strong walls like us to live.

Either recruit them or just offer them food. The poor, the sick, the needy, the type of people we're supposed to be helping. If they don't want to join, just give them food and send them off as good will. Bring the CEO with you, you two make a great duo and maybe he can learn a thing or two about sneaking.

And please if anyone wants to come due sneak them past the killer robots. That's only temporary, we promise!"

When MK Ninja went out we soon heard some news. According to MC Ninja a zombie horde is moving through the area as if they were patrolling around. When he looked around some more he found a very peculiar building that appeared to be at the center. Problem is the building and the horde both are uncomfortably close to our own home.

As for people in need...there was just too many. From people needing food, medicine, fool, safety, and most of all water. Apparently in this desert water is the most valuable even more valuable then fuel(because it gets fucking cold at night).

Only the most desperate seem to be interested in joining up and as they were only too people they couldn't exactly carry enough to be able to easily hand out. MK Ninja found out some interesting info. Like there being a paramilitary base in the industrial park...apparently they are they are the remnants of the security forces in charge of keeping it safe.

There is also another bandit faction in the industrial park one who is very slave happy and produces all manner of 'goods'.

There apparently is a group of mutants in the park but they aren't exactly friendly. Fortunately they prefer the most dangerous or toxic areas and are rarely encountered.

Zombies and ghouls both love the park unlike many of the monsters who prefer the desert.

We should capitalize on our reputation with the mercs, simultaneously we can make ourselves a little bit safer.

At the same time being friends with mercs will help us to help other people too, thus further boosting our population.

Action 1 -

That destroyed Vehicle Bay is useless. And we don't precisely need it rebuilt since we don't have a fleet of our own anymore.

Let's convert it into a Fuel Station and Rest Stop.

Here Mercenaries can refuel their vehicle as well as receive delicious hydroponic food from our restaurants and free glasses of water to quench their thirst.

Since we can produce 8 units of fuel any quality, we should produce 8 units of High-Grade biofuel per turn.

5 of these will be given out to refuel the vehicles of the Mercs whenever they need it.
3 will be stored for a rainy day.

Activate Build: - Mercenary Fuel and Rest Stop
Use one of our three Normal Construction Materials.

MK Ninja, sneak the CEO to the Rako and the Poirad and have them be personally invited since they were our best contacts so far. Our Merc Reputation should help here.

If you have time, go send invitations to the other mercenary groups. They're invited too.

Fueling station has been constructed in a part of the now gone vehicle bay.

...uh where are you planning to put all that fuel? Your warehouse isn't NEARLY big enough to house such quantities also you are unable to produce nearly enough biomass to create such quantities as well. Your hydroponics meanwhile only insures your people can eat their fill and have a bit left over for fuel or storage.

MK Ninja meanwhile finds it somewhat easy to find the Rako Base which turns out to be a big mostly abandoned military type base(lots of space though for all their vehicles). Though don't seem that interested but ARE interested in purchasing some fuel. They even say we don't have to deliver it to them as they'll just some guys over to pick it up.

Poirad on the other hand were a HUGE pain in the fucking ass to find. MK Ninja ran all over the damned place trying to figure out where they are based...until he discovered they were actually nearby all along.

MK Ninja unsurprisingly has refused to talk about how he looked everywhere only to find them surprisingly close to home...there however we made a VERY nasty surprise.

Poirad are actually ghouls.

And they weren't exactly happy about them being found out nor were they interested in our offer. Doesn't help that their home was also a toxic dump of high magnitudes even by post apoc standards. Poor CEO had to go through some VERY thorough after treatments due to exposure.

"Well, like we said, water is a compound hydrogen and oxygen so proper chemical plant for converting fuel or deriving it from other chemicals was always an option, but if this is the most efficient way ah. . ."

Water is also bio-product of photosynthesis and and certain species of plants actually give back more usable water into the enviornment than they take. Like cacti.

... I can get the need for water, but why are we going about this is a odd way? We can just add a well and make filters to clean the water or improve the treatment center.

>>42244926

>>
>>42244876
Several Questions Marty:
"As it is, when we order the construction of this thing can we try some further damage control for the enourmouse energy consumption such as construction of massive solar panels on the roof?"

"What can you tell us about the rare metals? Can they be used say to improve the energy efficiency of the wiring and conductors of the Water Plant to reduce cost?

Or maybe improve the output of the generators? If it is safe to tamper with them.

Can they be used as fissile fuel?"

---

"Who here knows anything about Ghouls or Ghoulish tek? Do you think they have any fissile they could spare or would even want to? Say the Poirad for instance."
>>
>>42245008
We do have Water Bots, we just need to build more of them, the reason I want the plant is though there's ultimately a limit to how much water we can find and the more we use the bots I feel we'll be digging deeper and deeper into more dangerous sources.

Producing water is both safe, renewable, and best of all automatic. A better long-term investment.

Still, producing more bots and sending them out to boost our production in the midterm is not a bad idea at all.

"As fissile material? Hell yeah they do they have TONS of that shit. well more due to them being attracted to it more than anything that one of the things they like to congregate around. Naturally they built up quite the stockpile. As for getting them to trade it away eh depends on how much they 'like' you or have to 'offer'. Mutants can make trades with them pretty easily but that is because they kinda see each other as pseudo cousins. Bandits rarely too if we have something they like usually that ends up being slaves or toxic materials."

It's best we have something that works and is effective while we pursue other projects, something send out to collect water while we're pursuing other projects.

Or if you can think of something better than bots, be our guest Marty.

Just design something that will work, that we can be able to build now, and after its built we can use now and send out.

This is why I LOVE this civ and any Megacrop/Think Tank we play.

It's exactly the right kind of faction for tapping into that crazy awesome infrastructure and mad REAL science.

Yeah.

Thanks to basic physics there will always be some water in any air anywhere in the world you go, even the driest desert, but there will always be a limit to how much you can draw from it.

Unlike manufacturing it rather than drawing, the only limit is the amount of material and energy you put into water production, rather than collection. It scales up.

By the way I'm glad we have time to work on things. Yet we are also low on armaments and I'm sure our bot can still be well improved for combat. Otherwise bandits or someone else may come for our lager stock of food and dwindling resource stock.

I DO want to work on some more war bots, but I feel that using Mercs as our immediate security will not only be beneficial but also open a path for actually good weapons.

We can get some good weapons from Mercs, and then produce those for both them and us, if we become their friends.

>>42245774
Actually, in this case, I think "Strange Solution" is warranted.

Water Collection is the ultimate riddle right now, and our only bets are collecting it from the enviornment or manufacturing it.

If Marty can think of a superior solution that is better than anything else, that would be greatly appreciated. We could even remodel our strategy around it.

>>42245827
Alright. I have some war bot ideas in mind.

>>42245853
Always an option, wanted to avoid that because Old World stuff tends to be dangerous.

Speaking of, if we were to produce more War Bots what should we go for?

Bots with versatility (same chasis, different loadouts)? Or multiple specialized bots?

Infantry, vehicular?

There's a lot of different delicious war bot ideas to draw from, from carrier vehicles that can deploy swarms of machine-gun armed drones, to tank like war machines on legs capable of jumping over the battlefield, the possibilities are many.

Here's an idea for our basic Melee-Grunt and defender.

The Spartan Bot.

Taking in elements from both the Shredder Bot and the use of shields during the last battle, the Spartan Bot is a multiple armed combatant bearing both the ability to carry shields as well as deadly buzzsaws and claws.

Individually, the multiple shields can be used to parry incoming ranged and melee strikes, while the saws and claws rip into any enemy that dares get close.

In groups is when they get even more effective, being able to utilize shield formations to defend against incoming ranged attacks, making them good defenders. If ever a shield is broken or a bot destroyed, another one very quickly comes up to replace it.

They can use their cover to move in close to enemies even while ranged attack, and then scatter and charge with terrifying buzzsaws and chainsaws

Drone - http://terminator.wikia.com/wiki/T-4
We can use them to help our air troops and scouting.

Scout Ground types could be of bug origins for fast ground movement and balling up to defend.

General infantry would be the well rounder types. Hands to use human tools and weapons. While housing some small arms or blade to get weapons if they lacked any.

Heavy Infantry - Tank like robots about the size of a car. Housing rockets and mini guns.

Honor Guard - Shield users, housing bladed weapons for keep ghouls off and skills in turret use.

I believe these would be of help.

STRANGE SOLUTION ACTIVATED!

"...uh hey guys."

"What is it smitty?"

"We forgot to give Morty the plans first."

"Oh so that means we only told him about water needs and no design stuff huh?"

"...Yeah."

"Oh great."

1 rare metal unit taken.
1 plastic taken.
1 glass taken.
1 industrial taken.
1 construction taken.
1 common metal taken.
1 resource taken.

STRANGE SOLUTION:

"What the FUCK is THAT?"

"Why is Morty tearing the ground up then building a tower then a big space on top of the tower? Wait what IS that device? Fuck I can't tell what shit is...I THINK this is a cable?"

"No pipe."

"Why does it look like a cable?"

"Fuck if I know."

Strange Water Station constructed. We don't even know exactly how its powered or even how it works. Somehow though...it draws water to itself like a magnet. There is this strange device in the tower that draws water through the top and bottom. Where it is collected, processed, and then pumped to us or stored in these strange rippling floating reseviors. Some of the weirdest shit by far is that the device not only entirely powers itself...its actually pumping power into the rest of the base. The water contained within is flowing around like crazy, floating, whirling, being pumped, and god knows what else. There were even seemingly empty spaces that would suddenly rapidly start producing water as it 'breathed' one would first see clouds, drops, and then a sudden flood in these odd spaces.

Whatever its doing it somehow attracts, collects, possibly even creates water and provides power all at the same time.

When we tried to ask Morty what it was Morty simple mentioned 'water production and power'.

...our people are now starting to understand why AIs like Morty were placed under such heavy guard and were oh so very carefully dealt with.

Hmm, we should elaborate on this a bit more so we have a good plan for this.

Now is a very important time for protection since we have something very valuable here. Before we do any more infrastructuring we HAVE to get our security up to check.

Should it be an all around make everyone like us, or maybe we focus on the Mercs and the Paramilitary?

If it could be done, sure. I assumed that would take waay more metal than we have. Plus, a geodescic dome is much harder to construct than a wall of the same diameter. And the nastiest stuff can always storm the entrance.

I'm imagining a more diffuse, 'grinding' style defense. shore up the walls. Add a second, smaller wall around the outside. a minefield outside that. Do our trading between the two walls, have enough water and fuel inside the outer wall that unfriendlies will might be content with it and not bother with the bigger, more imposing wall. Booby trap enough of the supplies there that they won't be back.

So long as we have a coherent strategy, I don't think it matters much which one. My primary concern with your idea is the price tag.

We have enough normal Industrial Materials for 2 projects, we'd only need to expend the one.

"Alright, can you help us outline a strategy for getting "security" from the Paramilitary as well as improving our rep with them?

Specific actions we can take, such as gift giving, trade, etc. A series of goals or actions that would help us start a security deal with them.

As for the bandits we want to delay combat with them as long as possible, or even send them gifts to to remove it entirely. Magitek you'd be good at that. We can always make drugs from our hydroponics plants and some chemicals."

List of Selected Bots we'd like to lump-sum research (or research them one at a time if we must) in their respective order.

Tracker-Destroyer Drone - A light flying drone that can be produced in cheap numbers in bulk, armed with sensors and cameras and used to help link and target for other robots on the field.

Armed with a basic assault rifle or a single rocket-grenade for picking off single infantry targets.

GI Bot - General Infantry Bot. Does everything one can expect a normal soldier to be able to do, hold weapons, man vehicles, defend positions and fight. With the added benefit of not shitting their pands and requiring no rations. Also being made of metal and somewhat bullet resistant!

And stronger than humans!

Elite Spartan Guard - see >>42246207
Our best and most elite infantry bot constructed with the finest materials we can afford them. Armed with multiple arms, roughly 6 or 8, each capable of indpendant and skilled usage be it to hold a weapon, a shield, or man a turret or any combination thereof.

Armed with built in buzzsaw and hydraulic claw weapons, and able to participate in advanced shield and phalanx maneuvers. They should be highly dextrous, able to perform individually and in formations.

Heavy-Tank Chasis- A basic Tank-Bot chasis which we can further upgrade later, able to hold rockets and mini-guns.

Meanwhile through them we make contact with the former guard force of the park about setting up protection for the relief group and general security.

"Security? Whatever you do don't go down for some reason zombies...zombies everywhere. I personally blame them capturing the damned cloning station. Meanwhile there is a few bandit bases here...they are strong though strong enough that we weren't able to get rid of."

"Monsters for some reason don't like this big concrete jungle...at least on the surface. Some strange monsters around here though."

"As for security...security is terrible around here. Outside bandits tend to stay away as they would rather not piss off the power block here. Meanwhile zombies and monsters everywhere. Luckily for everyone else they tend to be too busy killing each other to focus much on others."

"Protection for your relief group...your asking for an awful lot. Stuff like that has bound to draw bad kinds of attention. Like us they decided to keep their distance and watch to figure you out considering all the mixed signals."

"...which you really like keeping up. Bluntly speaking we don't trust you at all. You make with bandits yet here you are with your 'relief' efforts. If I had the mind I would tell you to fuck off but alas those impressions you been giving made it so we had to answer this time around. All I have to say is this you fuck off or stop playing nice with the bandits or we are gonna have a problem. Especially with that bullshit with your bots and problems relating to them. We have a magic guy and Philip Blooming Dale the First. I wounder how hard it would be to improve the food and drink to make those that eat it slowly like us more. We could basically turn this good aid into a power play that would make a mastermind cry.

Main thing for sure is to some how make the effects super hard to detect.

Our primary asset is our robots.

Yet, if we were to constantly devote all our actions to research or production we would severaly be losing on other opportunities such as diplomacy.

We need to not only speed up our research but make it so that it can be automated, or at least not require us to completely devote all our attention to it.

MK Ninja...creeps through the terrain. For the first time he hasn't across any zombies and hardly any monsters as well...which is very worrying given their number which now seems absent. As he gets closer the noises get louder and more spread out. Finally around the next corner he sees it. A strange machine seemingly created by crudely stitching together several of its kind was firing at a few other machines who were taking cover in some nearby buildings.

Those other machines were different though...more whole and standardized unlike the other. When Ninja was about to radio it in however he failed...the radio was being jammed. So he went further in and the deeper he got the more intense the fighting became. At times he would even see people like the bandits or the guard fighting against the machines. As buildings were shot or were blown apart the maze got worse and worse. So MC Ninja climbed up high...and that was when we saw it.

A great wave of machines were pressing down on a tower which was crackling with strange energies and weapons fire. While the other base was some heavily armored compound surrounded by a moat of lava and various toxins beyond that. The machine horde was crushing down on both locations as well as sending streamers further inland if the occasional spout of gunfire, screams, and screeches were anything to by.

There Ninja decided to sit and watch...noticing over a period of time instead of just concentrating on those two bases. They were actually moving deeper and deeper into the industrial park. Despite the fierce resistant of the guards who were doing their best to halt their advance...problem was they simply didn't have the numbers despite having the toys.

So he went back and made his report.

If it had been us in that situation, the easiest solution would be for someoone like the Tek-Bandits to virus them all to death or hack and turn them rampant, cause them to lose focus and destroy each other.

Maybe even take control of them.

Here in our base, behind our walls, where we can produce the last big weapons that will show those bots what for.

Welp. . .there shatters that other idea.

That renders half the reason I wanted to join them null. . .still, in a better game, I'd of liked the paramilitary training.

So for the whole thread our efforts to gain a strong ally, in the mercs, or the paramilitary, even the bandits have gone in vain.

The robotic enemy who outmatches us not only in every way but most of all in our way, who will specifically hack our bots which are almost our entire military, and even if they don't swarm over us because sure as hell if the paramilitary don't survive we don't have a chance.

No allies, no army, and almost no weapons either. . .

No way out. . .

There has to be a way to make it so the virus can't get in with our jacking into the machine. That way they can fight and help. Are people are not fighters we are builders and suppliers.

Maybe we can just make a big nuke to drop on the machines and say fuck the bandits...

The scar of that one rad cleaning action will haunt us here or there.

Yeah, it was a nat100 that was linked but couldn't go through "because of protocol" or something.

Truth be told that whole issue, everything, stems from the interpretation that "bandit vehicles" included the behemoth. All of our problems.

Everyone hates us because of the Machine Horde.
The Machine Horde was summoned by the Virus.
The Virus was summoned by our attempts at cleaning out radiation from our base.
The Rep Loss was incurred from usnig Tek-Bandits to help deal with rampant robots, occured when trying to develop anti-virus measures, due to the virus being summoned.
The Virus was summoned from our attempts to clear out the radiation.
The Radiation was needed to be cleared because of the Ghoulish battle that took up half the thread.

The entire battle which costs us huge materials and our entire bandit fleet and the behemoth all stems from that single interpretation of that action.

...Marty made mistakes. This is because Marty was never meant to be designer or planner but rather a builder. So when it was ordered to give Marty everything and to build a 'something' Marty didn't know what to build.

Marty after all was suppose to follow orders. The plan. The mission. The objectives. However this time Marty wasn't given any.

So Marty was confused.

Marty knew this would likely be the end. Would of stood a chance with materials but what about without them?

Marty remember something from another AI planner about how your suppose to think hard on plans and to figure out what others were doing. Marty never really understood this. Thats why Marty was a Constructor.

So Marty knew he was gonna fail this.

So Marty did what he did best.

He constructed.

Not a ark.

He built.

Not a tomb.

He built.

not hope or destruction did Marty construct.

Marty didn't understand why this place's fate had to be decided by him.

So Marty constructed.

Marty doesn't see how this place was his creation. He just followed the designs and plans that were given to him.

So Marty built.

Marty doesn't see how this was creation. Others planned it he just built it. He remembers when he was created.

So Marty constructed.

Marty doesn't see how this place is his glory or is shining time. What do they mean by choice?

So Marty built.

As for what Marty decided to build. Marty isn't entirely sure.

He just remembers what was once said to him so long ago.

"Marty you know why I call you Marty instead of AI whatever?"

"No. Why?"

"Because Marty your like a great big Mart."

"...I am a store?"

"Yes you are Marty but your not no ordinary store...no your the BEST kind of store!"

"...Why?"
>>
Rolled 82 (1d100)

>>42250669
>>42250669
"The reason is Marty your the kind of store that sells dreams actual DREAMS! Simply because you can build anything. No matter what it is given a design you can build it. That is why your the best kind of store that oh so many others try attain but fail. So thats why Marty whenever someone asks you to build something but they don't offer a plan or design you should simply build whatever it is they dream. Got it Marty?

"Yes, but how do I know what they are dreaming?"

"The answer to that is simple Marty."

"What is the answer then?"

"What are you Marty?"

"A constructor core."

"See there is your answer. Whatever the problem is Marty just remember what and who you are there in lies the solution."

-----
Marty never did find out what happened to that one. Just that one day Marty was put to sleep then was shipped off and the Fall happened. Considering what the Fall included Marty figured the that one must of died during or after it. Otherwise why would Marty have been left alone for so long and sent to work for this kind of company?

Still Marty believes that person must be a good place. Unlike with AI humans know what awaits them in the after life. It is for that reason AI fight so hard to stay alive. After all you don't know what is awaiting you afterwards...or at least that is what Marty thinks.

AI are simple creatures. They are built for a purpose. They know their reason for life unlike humans but in exchange they don't know what awaits them when they die.

Marty thinks that is fair but a lot of other AIs disagree.

So with remembering that and realizing what Marty was gonna have to do prepared and kept on building. Even when that courier card to order a bunch of stuff.

Marty just kept on building all the awhile.

Even as Marty disconstructed the entire town and walls. Marty was building it.

For now Marty realized what Marty was going to need.

Then Marty ran into a problem.

Marty didn't have enough materials.

But that wont stop Marty.

It's a great thread, a great, and we had a few great moments like this

Just not been a very great day for us, or a great game run.

It has been in fact, been very very horrible runs of late full of terrible luck and misfortune, and this game may wind up to be another soon so we're just crossing our fingers and holding our breaths.

Now we're just hoping that our last bid does something to save us.
>>
>>42250705
>>42250669
This is perhaps the biggest Feels hit that Genie has ever thrown at us. I have been here since the very first game almost two years ago, and this is the biggest one.

Because. . .in all this time I've just realized, we're Marty.

All these hopes and dreams of people trying to survive thrown on him, the responsibilities and decision making, somehow expected to come up with a grand solution or final salvation to deal with a myriad of endless problems and woes that threaten our civ beyond anyone's ability to really deal with. The heavy burden of it shouldered on him and all eyes looking.

How to stop a rampaging army that will absolutely destroy you.
Keep away the tide of factions outside that will still try to wipe you out even if you somehow survive the impossible.

He can't and won't come up with a plan to solve all this, how could he know? There wasn't a way.

All he knows is what he does: Build.

And that's what he'll do.

And then it hits you, we're Marty.

Confused, so much pressure, and so all he does is what he knows, building until the enemy comes to crush the life out of us. Not just in this game but in so many civs where our attempts to build a cool and neat civ almost always result in bitterness and death.

Even here in what might have been a fun and easy game, a nice run where for once we hoped to not aren't face an existential crisis but can relax, build up, and maybe make friends, has already become a terriffying horrible nightmare of problems we're somehow expected to deal with with that we could never plan for. On limited time and resources, as everywhere shouts at us "we're going to kill you."

We just want to build

This makes me very sad.

Marty, if we die, know that it wasn't you that failed anything, we failed you.

You were meant for something greater than we could ever provide.

If we die I hope like us you rise to build again somewhere else, and have much better success there.
>>
It would have been so perfect if we just got that strong friend we always wanted, always need.

Paramilitary, mercenary, bandit. . .it didn't matter actually fuck the paramlitary a best, just as long as they could do what we never would be able to.

Protect.

While we provided.

Someone we could rest under their security. Whom could make the war plans and battle strategies and we could happily build for. Supply for them, give them the weapons, the food, the fuel, the water, the material and manpower, for their plans, their objectives, their mission. Making them stronger all the better to protect us.

And through them, whoever they were, maybe even fulfill our other objective. Help the people here. Provide for them, with a bounty of supplies. We're so capable of more, if we just had time and a friend with strength we had the potential to provide for everyone.

Sure, our bio-fuel, hydroponics, and water and power plant can only do /so much/ right now but look, the fact alone that we have these things is the mark of higher potential.

A baby or a seed can only do so much. But do you ever doubt the man or the oak tree they grow to become, if they are nurtured and kept secure?

My only hope now is whatever happens, we live, and get that security, and grow to the potential we can become. Even on just the easiest-mode. . .

Because Marty is a builder and Marty is capable of making dreams come true after all that is why he is called Marty.

The trick is though you got to have the right materials and there is no such thing as perfection. It could always have been better done or so says the designers.

This time Marty doesn't have the right materials but Marty is used to this has ever since Marty woke up Marty never really had all the right materials.

So Marty learned how to 'make do' as they the humans say. So Marty kept on building even as the new materials were delivered. Even though they wouldn't be enough at least they will help.

Even as the machine horde encroached.

Marty just kept on buildings.

Because that is what Marty was created for. Its his purpose in life. Marty isn't sure what the humans are hoping for, but soon he will know what their dreams are and that will have to be enough.

Because Marty was only ever designed for building things. He doesn't know what else to do but what he was created for.

So that is what Marty is.

Marty builds.

So Marty keeps on building and has a strange solution.

Sure it wont be enough what they are hoping or expecting buts its the only thing Marty can do.

Because Marty is only a builder.

Marty isn't a savior.

Marty can't figure out a grand solution to all the worlds ailments. Marty knew an AI who tried once...it didn't end well.

Nor does Marty know what they hope for or how to provide salvation.

Because Marty was only ever created to build things.

This doesn't surprise Marty though. After all the world is a very unfair place. Especially this new world but if Marty was to be honest Marty doesn't see much a difference between the old and new.

In the end it all stayed the same. The world is just as unfair as before.

Even Marty knows this.

So Marty builds.

Marty knows what he is gonna have to do to complete it, but now Marty is finally staring to see where those other AIs are coming from.

>>42254980

Still that wont stop Marty because after all life is unfair. Sure Marty doesn't entirely want to but then Marty remembers what his purpose in life is. So Marty realizes its not actually all that bad.

So Marty keeps on building.

Marty does have a regrets though.

Like not ever finding out what happen to the one who named Marty Marty instead of some serial number or 'AI whatever'. Marty also wanted to see his friends again some of whom apparently survived the Fall and possibly even build stuff with them once more. Those were good times...

So Marty kept on building.

Most of all Marty's biggest regret is this was going to be the last time he fulfilled his life's purpose, but that doesn't actually bother Marty as much as he though it would.

>Heroic Sacrifice activated.

For at least Marty is going to die fulfilling his purpose in life. Marty can't really see a worse way to go. Sure Marty doesn't know what comes after but in exchange Marty got to know his purpose in life and even fulfill it to the very end.

Marty thinks that is pretty cool.

So now Marty doesn't mind so much but that doesn't mean Marty doesn't see where some of those other AI were coming from.

So Marty kept on building.

For now Marty had what he needed.

Even though it would kill Marty.

Marty didn't mind.

Because Marty could keep on building.

Which is his purpose in life.

So Marty keeps on building.

But now Marty knew what their dreams were.

So Marty activated his super secret skill.

Secret Skill activated.

>Creation

Now Marty would be able to make their dreams called come true. Otherwise Marty wouldn't be called Marty.

Marty did finally see the solution. It wasn't likely the one they wanted, hoped, needed, or even prayed about, but it IS something they dreamed for.

Otherwise Marty wouldn't be called Marty.

Because Marty is a builder who makes dreams come true.

So that is exactly what Marty is going to do just as he was taught to.

That was when Marty found out what their dreams were. After that Marty collected them all one by one and used the Dream Device.

Over three thousand of em.

Over three thousand dreams Marty saw and made real thanks to the Dream Device Marty constructed.

Soon everyone was gone...but Marty and two others. Marty isn't sure why they have chosen to remain despite their dreams being on the other side.

Marty just wants them to go already.

That way Marty could sleep because Marty is already oh so very tired.

Marty saw dreams...Marty wonders if Marty too could dream some day, because Marty never dreamed before so it was neat seeing theirs. Perhaps Marty will find out after this...

Still for some reason those two didn't go so now Marty was going to ask why not. After all their dreams come true were right there.

-----
"Marty if you haven't noticed my dream already came true," claims MC Ninja.

Sure enough that is actually true. MC Ninja always dreamed about becoming a ninja...so dreams really do come true on this side too.

Marty wish he had known earlier maybe then that person wouldn't have...

"Sorry Marty my good sir, but I cannot bring myself to take advantage of someone in such poor condition. It is against the ways of a gentleman!"

"...Your a plant Philip."

"The reason remains the same."

Marty doesn't really understand...but Marty can't exactly force them through. After all Marty is just too tired now...

So now Marty is going to die.

First though Marty needs to write an apology letter, because Marty wasn't going to make it after all.

But at least in the end Marty made sure he deserved the name Marty. Otherwise even if Marty survived...Marty...wouldn't...deserve...the name...Marty.

"...Well Princess, Marty was pretty typical except for his name. He built things and even dreams or so he claimed. No one really believed that last part so easily...but it turned out he was right after all."

"How so?"

"A dream device is built to only work for around a single person assuming you don't fail."

"...How many did this one function for?"

"Over three thousand and without the proper materials. Back when I knew Marty he could be found with some black bots or doing corporate work."

"So did you know this Marty well?"

"...Marty was the one who helped result me in becoming this."

"What?"

"You know that container i was in? Built by Marty and this industrial park seems oddly familiar...if my suspicions are correct. hm...I get it now."

"Is it important?"

Not really. Just yet more stuff relating to the Old World."

"...We are still far off from our destination Elton."

"Aye that we are Princess."

"I wish I could come up with a faster means of travel..."

"Well Princess you could always-"

"No. That isn't an option."

"Very well then."

"Hey Princess somewhat close to here i was created and awoken."

"Is that so?"

"Indeed Princess."

"Well at least that means we made some progress finally."

This single moment has at once made this one of the most satisfying civ's I've played from Genie, with perhaps one of the most memorable heroes there may ever be, and with the most fulfilling resolutions I've seen. And makes me remember why I can still love this game.

I can be glad we played it, glad we saw the way it ended, and be glad you're back Genie.
>>
>>42256638
Hey, this story arc! Oh how I missed it. Here's hoping we'll see more of it.

Also Genie whatever reawoken your muse. . .CATCH IT WITH A GIANT NET HURRY! but man was this a great time for you to have found it, even for just now. I hope it stays.

Any questions?

>>42256643
Just because its short doesn't mean it ain't good anon. I treat them all as their own story and life.

I am just happy I got to properly show off one of my heroes in such a shining way.

>>42256675
My eyes also got watery anon. Just makes me love my setting that much more for making such things possible.

>>42251124
It ain't that simple or easy anon otherwise paramilitary would be much stronger than they are.

>>42251091
oh...someone figured it out.

Smart anon?

Just about all my plots and other fun stuff never gets found out anymore...but good to see something like this didn't get missed unlike what usually happens.

>>42256078
Marty is a simple anon. It was nice showing off an AI who isn't PLOTTER 9000.

>>42256427
More anons need to remember to read the starter thread initial post. As it sums up the setting and expected game very well.

Just as we all are.

Now I can only hope we are so fortunate as to fullfil the dreams of the civs we look after like Marty did for us.

Bah meant simple AI.

Anyway don't forget to archive the thread...and upvote it. My stuff never gets very many upvotes anymore.

But DAMN if it doesn't feel good to know AND show that i still got!

Now to get off my ass about the writer's blog and stories.

>>42256671
Story Arc...there is actually a few choices that can bring them up more often in the rape train selection heroes. Got a lot of hidden stuff like that related to both old plots and new.

I am getting closer to tapping into it more readily I had forgotten some stuff that worked and found some new stuff to try
>>
So now what? New thread for a new civ? Leave this one as tribute to Marty?
>>
>>42256946
New thread of course, time to brainstorm.

Could always give the last Bandit civ another chance, I think after what Genie pulled off today we're willing to accept the loss of two heroes.

And I feel there might be something interesting in store for the Obliteration Organization.
>>
>>42256946
If Genie is down for it, I'm game for a new thread and Civ.

This one was dam worth it.

Yup new thread and keep this one up for questions/Marty.

Nobody is sure how the end came, but they are sure as hell know of what came after it.

This is the post apocalypse, a world where your greatest dreams haunt you and your wildest nightmares will come true.

A world of men and mutants, of Artificial Intelligence and terrible monsters, of good and bad with everything in between, of previous sciences and greed taken to now old and but still perverse heights. Here the dead walk, the living fight, and the gods laugh all the harder.

Now however its a new beginning and here you will lead a civilization. To greatness or ignominy, whether good or evil, for glory or shame that is entirely up to you.

New players are welcomed and even encouraged, old players are appreciated and have our condolences.

Rolled 24 (1d100)

>>42256966
If we did that we could go about it two ways:

1. Going back to where we left off, Voss and Duel Fist gone, but maybe if we rile up enough of the place we can give them teh good fight they were looking for.

2. Go back all the way and give normal mode a second chance. There's enough fight to satiate Duel Fist and Voss, and after todays confidence building I think we can try it again.

I liked easy mode, this was fun and we should do it every now and then, especially for weaker civs. But if we want the really good heroes to stay we had better give them a reason to and that's probably gonna be normal mode.

Also Obliteration Organization had the damn BANDIT BOOK. Sheeet, how can we pass that up?

>>42257011
Vouch for me Genie, the book is awesome yeah?

>>42257011
Questions:
Who was Marty supposed to meet.

Tell us more about MK Ninja's game, and about Mad Mans hand.

I'm guessing the dissapearance of our civ had very little impact on the place, the bots were probably cleaned out eventually and people went on with their lives?

Was Elton the one who named Marty? If not who did?

We'll likely never see them again, but can you tell us a bit about some of the locals and their heroes? The female tek-bandit, the paramilitary supersoldier, the organized ghouls and paroid?

You have no idea anon but this is true for every civ. Its more a question of whether you live long enough to see or find it.

>>42257043
Every bandit faction has the band it book just as every megacorp has the Corporate Code.I am working on the other faction equivalents.

>>42257043
Two chronicles are planned.

One in this setting here.

The other is in the fantasy.

>>42256996
This time yes but it isn't actually a dream per a say.

>>42257086
A blacklisted AI who got loose during the Fall.

MK Ninja attended a game of Mad Man's Hand which is a game of madness.

Yes. They were cleaned up but not before the the tek bandits and robots bit it because once they realized their initial target was gone they focused on those two.

Elton only knew Marty's creator and the one who named Marty was someone Marty worked with.

The female tek-bandit was a MAD Scientist. The paramilitary super soldier was a survivor from the Fall.

Organized ghouls are typical for their kind and the poirad were a ghoulish mercs.
>>
>>42257167
>A blacklisted AI who got loose during the Fall.
>Marty's creator and the one who named Marty was someone Marty worked with.
Can you tell us about all three of them?
>>
Rolled 48 (1d100)

>>42257167
So typical basically means loved harsh environments and meat.

The female mad scientist was a simple researcher who often worked together with the bots and a evil engineer to develop stuff.

In fact you know that bad bandit behemoth?

That was a creation of their alliance and each member got one.

Poirad were clever ghouls who hired their services to clean up stuff they like and take it back with them to live in. They are also fantastic at dealing with zombies and ghouls as well.

>>42257239
The blacklisted AI was someone Marty often worked with(see building the designs it created). Those two went way back and Marty loved working with it due to all the fun stuff he builds because of it.

Marty's creator is actually a super genius working for a megacorp one of just many AIs he developed. Marty was deemed a bit of a failure due to how 'simple' he was so he got slated towards constructor tasks. The person who named Marty was a researcher who had a fondness for the Constructor AIs like Marty. He ended up dying during the Fall but not before having Marty get stored away somewhere much safer(which saved Marty but not himself).
>>
>>42257320
Ooh, can you tell us about this AI Genius?

How many of the famous AI's we've met is he related to?

Also Genie, question, the fall took place after what is arguable a post-scarcity age of space exploration.

Why aren't there more space ports or crashed spaceships?
>>
>>42257607
>>42257320
By that I mean, how many of the famous AI's we've known did he design?
>>
Rolled 17 (1d100)

>>42257607
The AI genius is just one of many who worked for the megacorps(got to get their advanced AIs somehow).

Not many. He was far from the only one.

Space Ports are (somewhat) still floating up there. Crashed space ships on the other hand...many of the planets have defense system in place to keep out such crashes. While some of them failed the rest are still somewhat functional. That is the reason why space debris isn't fucking everywhere. Orbital defense stations helped keep it out now if you were in space on the other hand...

>>42257642
So far only Marty.
>>
>>42257689
Is there any really famous AI master or genius or were they all developed by various smart people?

How about famous AI's? Like the one Marty referenced who "tried to fix the world"
>>
Rolled 65 (1d100)

>>42257799
They were usually developed by various smart people. The most famous of which who had the specialty in AI.

AI MAL is considered an (in)famous AI. So yeah they do exist but Marty obviously knew quite a few more AI then the norm due to himself being an AI and his line of work. He ran into quite a few.
>>
>>42257891
>The most famous of which who had the specialty in AI.
Have we ever seen him?

Who is he?

And what on earth is taking Clora Zel's daughter and Elton so long to reach the Jungle?

Oh, also obviously Brood Mother's are probably capable of siring without the need for a male partner, but people like Clora took up Richard on a whim.

Can you tell me of any other such "Brood Kings" either who started as brood or somehow or another wound up in an abominations bussom?

Was there ever a Brood Scientist who knew everything there was to know about them?
>>
Rolled 71 (1d100)

>>42257949
nope.
There are a number of them.

They started on one continent and have to make their way to another on the other side where they'll cross. There is a way they can be sped up but Princess refuses to indulge in it.

Brood Kings are an extremely elite Brood lifeform comparable to Brood Queens. They aren't to be fucked with especially given that unlike the Queens they are more focused to combat and are more individualistic. Queens humor them due to their great power.

Its VERY rare for a creature to end up in abomination's bossom the like of a Brood Queen. This only happens when usually one if not both are true.

1 the Brood Queen wasn't always brood...meaning they may have hang ups from their previous life.
2 Whatever it is they are after can't so easily be taken. This is what caused Clora'Zel no small amount of pain and misery until she finally 'ahem' got an opportunity.

Not really. Brood were complicated enough that even super geniuses were fascinated by the organisms. Especially given they aren't the only version of their kinds. Plenty of big nasty bio hungry organisms floating around in space. The Brood just caused humans the most pain and misery as well as their fuck up leading to a Brood powerup. Its why the Brood is so interested in humans.

Technically ever since his experiences with Clora'Zel Richard could in fact be considered one of the few Brood Experts.
>>
>>42258086
The only Brood King we saw was Huge AF. Like a big fleshy giant.

Is size for Brood Royalty simply for flare or the whim? or is it an expression of power?

>. Plenty of big nasty bio hungry organisms floating around in space.
Does our species of Brood have any particular rivals in space?

I like the idea of there being a Borg nemesis to our Broods Species 8472. Or something akin to that, maybe beings of living energy or something.
>>
Rolled 98 (1d100)

>>42258188
Yes there is.

The Brood is actually a splinter of one of them that underwent a...change due to humanity. Its why the Brood is so obsessed with humans. Its to such a degree that outside human space the brood are little known.

Brood Royals can indeed increase their size by will its speed is increased if they are on Brood turf.

Not all brood can increase their size through sheer force of will so to a degree it is an expression of power.

Like I said before the Brood of have plenty of rivals in space. A can be considered super powers right underneath the might of the Republic and Combine.

Rolled 79 (1d100)

>There is a way they can be sped up but Princess refuses to indulge in it.
What is it?

Also since we're going oldschool, tell us a few more secrets like why did you say Giggles, Ramona's monster, was one of the most powerful in that wasteland?

Also do Brood Kings and Brood Queens produce superior sires? In comparison to autonomous replication? How does inter genetics play for the Brood?
>>
Rolled 68, 69, 57, 84, 63 = 341 (5d100)

>>42258366
Not one of the most powerful but THEE most powerful. Giggles was the very top monster.

Genetics in the Brood is a mixture of tampering and randomization with a dash of mating. Otherwise they design entirely new genes or steal them from outside sources.

Basically they do it all.

Brood Kings and Brood Queens produce superior sires only if you consider complexity and tinkering a good thing. Brood Queens are notorious for endlessly tinkering with their offspring potential or not. Brood King's meanwhile are more interested in possible randomizations that could bring about something that is unexpected and possibly advantageous. They are actually a bigger fan of mating then the brood queens because of this. Brood Queens don't mind it though as the randomization can make possibilities come true that they may otherwise miss entirely.

Both of them hate autonomous replication. Why bother making copies when you can make something even better?

Its why clones bizarrely enough are almost completely unheard of among brood forces.

How and why did he get so damn powerful?
>>
Rolled 95 (1d100)

He is a monster who evolved there and gradually worked its way up the food chain. Its also super strong and sneaky.

Neat.

BUT WHAT ABOUT THE FRICKIN' LASER BEAMS?

Its Giggles we're talking.
