"Reactivate the droid" You order Joker. He hesitates for a moment before shrugging and marching over to the droid.

"Just keep him off the panel. It tried to contact the Separatist ship before."

Joker kneels down next to the droid and starts tinkering with it momentarily. In the mean time, Maenii's voice starts becoming more and more distressed over the comm channel. A beeping sound rings out behind you when the droid comes back online again.

"You [REDACTED] son of a [REDACTED]! Why did you deactivate me? You could have simply pushed me aside if you wanted me away from the console or, I don't know, asked!?" The Med-droid immediately starts berating Joker, who's unaffected by the little guy's rant. He looks over at you and shrugs again in silence, waiting for you to continue your plan, whatever it is.

"Listen droid, Nina's vitals have dropped. The only way she'll survive is if she gets proper medical attention." You kneel down, facing the droid on an eye-level, or whatever it uses to see or sensor you. It's artificial gaze is set on you though. "A Republic Diplomat-class ship has way better medical equipment than this piece of junk, so if you respond to the girl over the comm channel, Nina will get the help she needs."

The droid immediately sets off towards the console, but abruptly stops when it hears a weapon being loaded behind it.

"But if you tell her about us, I'll not only blow a hole in your head, but also in Nina's." You utter with the most stone cold tone you could manage. The droid turns back at you for a couple of seconds before it answers the call.

"Security code: 44071. This is XC-0 answering the call. Agent Nina has been wounded and her vitals are dropping. Requesting connection permission." The droid replies to Maenii's call.

"Permission granted." Another voice calls out over the comm. Apparently Maenii's not alone aboard that ship.

"Alright, what now?" Joker asks, pulling the now quiet Med-droid away from the panel. Joker might have something to say about this situation, but judging from his wounds, his he capable to come up with a solid plan and not a desperate one? Assaulting whomever comes on-board is one possibility, but what if the ship is full of compromised agents or Separatist droids? You could both hide and then try to infiltrate the ship, but then Nina or the droid will probably disclose your existence pretty quickly. Holding Nina at gunpoint to demand answers out of Maenii could either create a deadly stalemate or a chance to gain both answers and a means to escape, but is it worth the risk?

Or could Maenii still be trusted? Maybe she's a double agent and has infiltrated the Separatist ranks? You haven't spoken with her in forever and she doesn't usually disclose her next mission parameters. Will you put everything on the line on the off-chance that Maenii might be playing the Separatist for fools?

You pull out your DC-17 Hand blaster, motioning for Joker to follow you out from the cockpit. "Now the negotiations start." You mutter as the two of you march through the ship that's currently on auto-pilot and docking next to the Republic ship where Maenii is. When you both reach the Med-bay, Nina turns about in the bed and looks at you both.

"What? Going to beat me some more, Al'verde*?" She looks over at you with empty eyes. You approach her with Joker on your tail. You start to untie her and your Brother follows suit. Nina isn't resisting you when you both pull her off the bed, pulling the medical strings off her body at the same time. Joker pulls her up in his arms and carries her through the ship on your way back to the cockpit. You reach it just in time to hear the ship's doors opening and several fast footsteps pouring into the quiet ship.

"Get to the Med-bay!" You hear Maenii call out to whomever the others are. You close the cockpit door after you when Joker has carried Nina inside. She seems to be high on bacta or something because she didn't respond to her sister's voice.

"Hate to be that guy, but they kinda stripped and destroyed my guns when they took me on-board. Got any weapons for me, sir?" Joker asks, chuckling nervously while holding out one of his hands towards you.

You throw him the Verpine Shatter gun along with the three packs of 30 pellets all together. He catches it and starts struggling to load the gun with one hand while you position yourself next to the door to be ready for when they, whomever they are, eventually get through the door. Once you start hearing incoming noises heading for the cockpit, Joker has loaded his borrowed gun and has it aimed at Nina's head. She's starting to come back too, but she's still kind of out of it. How much bacta did the droid set the machine to administrate her?

"Get it open." You hear Maenii on the other end of the door. Someone with a muffled voice responds and it's answered with a blaster shot, the door to the cockpit opening at the same time. "That's how you open a locked door."

The first one inside the room is shot in the head from the side by your handgun. It was a pure instinct and it's not until the white armoured corpse crashes against the cold steel floor of the cockpit that you recognize what you just shot. A clone.

"Chief?" Joker asks aloud when you back away from the corner and joins Joker next to Nina who woke up entirely from the shot. Out in the hallway stands a couple of fully armoured and armed clones with Maenii at the head. Her eyes dart between the dead clone on the floor, the two Commandos in front of her and then finally stops on Nina. They exchange a silent gaze before Maenii's about to open her mouth. There's no time to think consider whether or not you shot one of your own brothers or someone in a disguise. Not right now.

Silence rules the space between you, Joker and Nina and Maenii and the clones. You haven't once lowered your handgun, neither has Joker, but the clones have lowered their arms. An idea suddenly strikes out from your subconsciousness and your eyes dart towards the still warm corpse on the cold floor. Whatever happens next could either spell trust or mistrust from you.

"Remove his helmet, agent." You order Maenii coldly, nodding towards the dead clone without taking the aim away from her.

"Chief, you're not going to like what you'll see. Just come with me, please."

"Remove. The. Helmet." You repeat yourself, your finger edging away from pressing the trigger on the handgun. You have a cold sweat, not sure how to feel or respond to this situation. You were trained in hostage situations during the simulations on Kamino, but they were often just about you and three other brothers freeing a hostage from hostiles, not holding an hostage and negotiating. Miss or hit, this is it.

"Fine." Maenii sighs in defeat and slowly takes a few steps towards the corpse and kneels down by it, removing the helmet. The man inside the suit has the same face as you and your brothers, but where you shot him, you can both clearly spot that its insides are made of steel and wires, just like the clankers. It's like some sort of clanker wearing the skin of a fellow brother has a suit. The tie in your stomach grows harder, but you keep your cool.

"What's that?" You ask her with an out-most controlled tone. You notice that the other "clones" are itching with their weapons, some of them holding onto them too hard while others have their fingers hovering awfully close to the triggers. They're just as ready to end lives as you are, or whatever life a clanker may have.

"Answer me." You repeat yourself when Maenii falls silent. From behind you hear Nina giggling to herself.

There are other options, but in the end, this one might just be the best "right" one to make at the moment. You're out gunned and out-manned. In this tight space, you'd have to use a thermal detonator to clear the way and even then neither one of you would get away unscathed. It's too volatile to be an actual option to consider, despite how effective it would be. Putting up a fight could give you a chance, but Maenii has struck your curiosity. Thus, you lower your weapon, but Joker holds the verpine shatter gun aimed at Nina to ensure their cooperation until the end.

"Fine. Show the way, but you'll be the first to go down if you try anything." You ensure her. She gives you a weak smile and nods, turning about to walk off. You both follow her and behind you the droids in white clone armours follow suit. The march through the ship is a quiet one and once you reach the Republic ship, you notice that the number of droids are higher than you had first anticipated. The Republic ship is filled with them in all corners.

However, the second you enter the living quarters, the door locks behind you and gas explodes out from every hole into and out from the room. This would have been nothing if your helm hadn't had a hole in it. You choke on the gas for a couple of seconds, trying your hardest to raise your handgun at Maenii and fire off a round in her smug face, but your muscles are locked in place. The last thing you see is Maenii's arrogant smirk and you hear the thud of another person outfitted in armour hit the floor.

You fall unconscious to the floor.
