When planet Coral deteriorated beyond any hope of terraformation, the Pioneer project was put in place to evacuate the families of the wealthiest, most influential, and most intelligent in an attempt to find a new homeworld. Ragol, the most suitable system found, is a yellow star with an inner asteroid belt, a habitable planet (called Ragol), an ice planet, and a dark matter belt.

Pioneer I, the first ship of its kind, was sent to Ragol to begin colonizing.

Pioneer II arrived seven years later. Upon orbit above the Central Dome of the colony, Pioneer II opened up channels to receive, but was interrupted by an explosion from just outside the Central Dome. The explosion shook the entire planet. All communcation was cut off. Strangely enough, infrastructure damage seemed to be nonexistent.

You are Pheonixia, a female newman and a Hunter's Guild certified Force. You have gained clout with Principal Tyrell after a lucky acquisition of “Red Ring” Rico Tyrell's log. Tyrell, the autocratic leader of Pioneer 2 and Rico's father, has put you on an off-the-books search and rescue mission for Rico.

You have fought your way through the forests of Ragol, slayed a dragon, reclaimed Pioneer I's Central Dome, and discovered the long dead Palman civilization through an ancient artifact, the Elsydeon. With a shard of the once great sword, you are given visions of heroes of the past. The ghosts of Elsydeon warn of Mother Brain, a system of climate control AI responsible for turning the barren Motavia (Ragol) into a green planet filled with often hostile life.

Boarding an ancient satellite in orbit around Ragol revealed two functioning androids. They detail a threat to the Ragol system. “Profound Darkness” is due for another millenial disaster, and you have already discovered its "Dark Energy Wave" emitting from the Central Dome.
>>
Wren, the android accompanying you from the climate satellite Zelan to Pioneer II, presented his findings on the Pioneer I explosion. The images revealed a "Dark Force" at the epicenter of the mysterious explosion.

You were dismissed by Tyrell, and took the opportunity to explore and gather data from the ancient climate satellite, Kuran, in orbit around Ragol II (Dezolis in the ancient language.) You return to find the principal's office is not taking visitors, not even you. A visit to Zelan reveals that the military has taken over operations.

WORKS, the military organization who has taken over Zelan, captures and interrogates you. Left in a makeshift prison cell, you draw upon the wisdom of the Elsydeon. Newly inspired, you teach yourself the gizonde technique, using it to great effect against your captors. You discover the deactivated Wren and Demi. You manage to reactivate Demi before the station's automated defense system corners and shoots you.

After a brief disorienting vision, you are awakened by Demi. The two of you work together to reactivate Wren, who wipes out the rest of the soldiers. You reunite with your friends at the hospital on Pioneer II. Your next destination: Ragol II.
>>
Ragol II proved to be a harsh location. Combat with the native life separated your group. A Dezolian rescued you from the cold and escorted you to Meese for room and board, where you met an Esper, Layla. Layla escorted you west to the mountain ranges near where you first arrived.

You found Maiyawyn injured and sick. The two of you brought Maiya down to the city of Tyler, where you encountered a zombie. Layla immediately implicated the town of Reshel and the Black Energy Wave. Luckily, you reunited with Nela and an injured Ash. They discoverd and ancient ice digging vehicle capable of transporting you across the snowy fields. Unfortunately, the massive vehicle attracted the attention of a massive ice worm.

> Last Time

You slam the throttle forward, running over the worm's body and throwing everyone in the cabin about.

Maiyawyn is pissed. “What the hell are you doing?”

“We have to stop the worm before it gets to Jut! I'm running the bastard over!”

“That thing just threw us onto a mountain! You might as well be giving it a back massage!”

The thought registers in your head just as the worm rapidly rises, sending the digger tumbling into the valley.

Sorry I was away for so long guys. I've been sick for a while. I'm not 100% yet, but I don't want this quest to die. If you need a refresher on the last session, it's archived here:

There's quests that have been on longer hiatus than yours.
>>
>>42201920

And I plan on keeping it that way. Hoping to keep this quest going consistently once a week.

Update in 8 minutes guys. Let's get ready to skin a snake.

Maiyawyn cries out in pain as her wrist smacks into the cabin. Everyone is tossed about, but you and Nela, being the only ones with seat belts on, stay in one place, albeit with whiplash.

The computer indicates severe damage has been done to the hull and certain weapon systems. The missile launcher lost one of its bays, and only has a single barrage left. The main cannon has been taken offline, and one of the treads seems to be slipping, drastically reducing mobility.

A few hull cameras are out, notably, the front facing one. You can still ascertain the current orientation of the digger: face down, half buried in ice.

Ash speaks up from the back. “Well, I could say we've been in worse situations, but I'm not sure how true that is. You might want to get moving soon, the worm is coming back fast.”

“How can you possibly know that? He's not on any of the cameras.”

“Through our new window.” Ash points out the puncture in the floor of the digger.

You did notice a draft...

> A. Dig down straight through the ice.

> B. Use napalm to melt the ice around you and get the digger level.

> C. Get out of the craft and keep the worm back with techniques. [MIND-Hard]

Can we leave a trail of napalm just behind us?

It's a moderate mind check, but yeah.

let's do it.

Also, 5 posts is a bit much before actual new content. I'm not sure this summary thing is working out.

You ramp up the drills, strategically blasting napalm to level out the digger underneath the snow level. The drills hum ferociously. Some napalm gets sloshed around on the drill heads. As the digger moves forward, it starts the level out.

Ash yells from the back, “The worm just went under the ice!”

You feel rumbling all around you. An avalanche starts, but the digger miraculously manages to 'float' on top the wave of collapsing ice.

Immediately in front of you, the worm emerges from the ice. You have no time to do anything but ram it with napalm drenched drills. The worm's tendrils launch from its mouth to latch on to the vehicle, pulling it closer.

In an instance, the drills pierce the worm's skin. In a split second reaction, you empty the napalm canisters through the front facing sprayers, injecting the worm with liquid fire.

The worm lets out a disgusting screech, it's cry disfigured by the pain of death. In it's death throes, a tendril finds its way in the the pierced hull, and lashes about before striking you in the back through the chair. Your vision grows dark.

"Another girl with horns. What is this world coming to?"

You feel yourself floating in space again.

Another voice speaks to you. “Finally some good news. If someone new is here then maybe we can take the fight to the dark forces.”

Your vision clears. You are floating above old Dezolis. Watching over you are a brown haired Palman woman and a Dezolian. You decide to speak up.

“I wasn't expecting to be here, at lest not right at this moment.”

“I see how it is. One look at this old man, and you suddenly decide your elders aren't worth visiting anymore.” The Dezolian chuckles to himself.

“Nevermind the Dezolian. He's always been a bit off. I'm sure you have some questions for us.”

> A. Not really. I'm pretty familiar with the drill so far. I actually need to get back to what I was doing.

> B. Your names?

> C. What years do you come from?

“How exactly do we fight dark forces?”

The woman looks at you, a bit bewildered. “The same way you fight anything else: with a weapon.”

The Dezolian speaks up. “It's a little bit more complex than that. The weapon should at least be blessed.”

“Blessed and sharp.” The woman looks impatiently at the Dezolian.

> A. Yeah, I've got it, the Elsydeon. I'm already workingo n it, but I really need to get back to what I was doing.

> B. By the way, I'm Pheonixia. Who are you?

> C. When do you come from?

Brief summary of who you've met that are relevant to the millennial crisis.

Hugh Thompson - A biologist who fought in the millennial crisis of AW 1284. You have since incorporated his experiences into yourself via ArcoWynn.

Rudolph "Rudo" Steiner - A hunter who fought in the millenial crisis of AW 1284. You have since incorporated his experiences into yourself via ArcoWynn.

Wren - A custodial android in charge of the climate control systems for the entire system. He fought in the millenial crisis of AW 2284. He is currently on Kuran.

Demo - An assistant android that serves Wren wherever he goes. She fought in the millenial crisis of AW 2284. She is currently on Kuran.

Demo is actually spelled Demi.

“Well, before we get any farther, let me introduce myself. I'm Pheonixia. Who are you two?”

The woman starts. “I'm Alys Brangwin. I was a hunter for the Motavian Hunter's Guild.”

“And I'm Raja. Priest and story teller. Very pleased to meet you, little girl.” Up close, the Dezolian looks ancient. His entire face is covered in wrinkles.

“When do you two come from?”

Alys starts. “I was killed by the balck energy wave, just at the start of the fight agaisnt dark force in 2284. The old man here managed to live a few years after the conflict.”

“'Til the ripe old age of 90!”

“And it shows.” Alys smirks, Raja pouts. “But back on point, we've been separated from the others for probably a millennium now, which must be why you picked us up. You have to piece the Elsydeon back together.”

“Well, actually, I wasn't exactly planning on this trip. I think a shard might have found its way into my backside.”

Alys pats your back. “Well, we all take a few hits for the greater good. Where did you find us?”

“Somewhere on Dezolis. I'm guess the ice worm had it.”

Raja perks up. “Ah, good! Then you need to go see R... Lutz.”

“Pardon me?”

“You're excused. Lutz is an old wizard that runs a church east of Gumbious Temple. He'll be able to help you. You should get moving. Go! Go!”

You wake up, still trying to converse with the two ghosts. “But wait! What about the Elsydeon?”

Ash, Nela, and Layla look over you concerned.

The Esper whispers to Ash, “She keeps bringing up the Elsydeon. What is it?”

Ash, “We're still a bit fuzzy on the details, opurselves.”

You find yourself on a cot, bandaged and covered in furs for warmth in an in somewhere. Likely Jut.

> A. What happened with the worm?

> B. Let's get to Reshel to take care of the zombie problem.

> C. We need to get to Lutz as soon as possible!
>>
I'm still feeling a bit down with the sickness, and responses are slow, so I think I'll pick this back up next Sunday. We'll run longer then.

See you guys in PSO Quest # 17
