3 votes for the race and one of the perks.

3 votes for the terrain.

If somebody would rather use a different image (not the one with timeroaks) that's fine too.

After years of living in prosperity as part of a large community under the mountains, you were forced to pack up and leave. A great earthquake shook through the land, sealing off the mountain passes and caves, entombing your kin within. Those of you who were lucky enough to be on the right side of the rockfalls managed to scavenge whatever resources, equipment and livestock that you could; and headed in search of greener pastures.

And so you set off, lumbering through the mountain ranges. It took weeks of long treks and harsh colds. A small number of you were lost to the conditions and the unspeakable beasts that dwell within those terrible hills. Many of the livestock were lost, and carts of food and materials had to be abandoned when a wheel broke or some other disrepair befell them.

Eventually, a handful of you made it through to the other side. Before you, a winding river flowed down into a huge lake. At the side of the river lay a formation of building s and oddly shaped rocks. After the journey you had accomplished, you sought out these ruins.

Upon arrival, you noted that they were unlike any buildings you had ever seen. Huge blocks of hewn masonry towering into the sky; with huge platforms teetering on the summits. It soon became apparent that whoever once lived here, must have been gifted with flight.

Despite this, you took shelter amongst the sky scrapers and collected yourselves. A few Trolls wandered about, returning with a quick view of the surroundings. North, as the stars suggest, leads only to the mountains you emerged from. West, across the river, the mountains stretch down southwards as far as the eye can see. To the South and East, you can see nothing but forest stretching on for leagues.

The Troll who has been leading and directing your people (name?) holds a Trollmoot, and soon proclaims that the past must be forgotten, and that rebuilding is the way forward.

Trolgar concludes the Trollmoot with orders to search the ruins for anything that you can use, something to gain a good foothold in the rebuilding of your community.

Meanwhile, the pair of Trolls who stay behind to guard your 'spot' start offloading your resources. They rip the carts to pieces and begin to pile them in a ring; draping furs over them. They make a small group of tents, with a large marquee in the center.

Soonafter, the remaining Trolls return, but without much luck. It would seem that most everything the previous occupants owned was held up in the spires. All that could be found here were scraps of wood, bones and handfuls of old feathers.

I say we take some vines (if there is any) sharpen the bones we find and put them on sticks and after that we go to the river in hopes of catching fish

The Trolls reach up as high as they can and rip handfuls of vines and moss from the slopes and sides of the strange walls all around them. They then snap bones and try to wrap them together with their makeshift ropes to create basic fishing lines.

They soon head down to the riverside and try them out. They have some success, but the crude design doesn't allow for much to be caught.

Create stone tools. It stands to reason that if the former inhabitants lived in these towers, and contained their riches within, that if we cracked into them, then there would be useful resources within.

Some of the Trolls get the bright idea that using the vines that they have left over, they can strap stone blocks to huge branches to create axes, picks and spears. They attempt to chip through the towers around them, but the stone is too strong and causes the tools to splinter and crack.

Meanwhile, other Trolls set to work on shifting the marquee around. They fashion it into a huge rounded tent with a pointed tip. It allows for much more room. Trolgar however claims that it will now be his abode, and will only allow others in with his permission.

The Trolls respect this command, but there are more than few scowls in the process.

Any thoughts on the new races so far?

Any suggestions of perks/abilities?
>>
>>42143711
For the love of god, get rid of Chemical Adaptaion

>Crystalid
+Refractive (Sees in all directions, resistant to ambushes)
+Lithenarian (Requires almost no sustenance)
+-Magical Conduit (Incapable of producing magic, but has high control over it.)
+-Chiseled Abs (Over time, grows larger, stronger, and slower. Must shave pieces off into cultures to reproduce.)
-Brittle Body (Injuries use up body mass. Regeneration is slow)
>>
>>42143825

Thank God. I hate Chemical Adaptation just as much but couldn't think of a suitable replacement. I assume by your suggestion that you think I should wipe the idea of having to choose between 2 perks?
>>
>>42143938
well, more that you can make up your own "choice" things from this updated trait list.

Not that I'm fully satisfied with it, either, so I wouldn't mind counter-criticism.
>>
>>42143977

Okay, I personally always disliked races that don't require sustenance as I think the race to renewable food is a huge part of a Civ. Personal opinion though, so I'll still keep it in.
>>
>>42144283
I don't entirely disagree, but I'm when everyone just goes
>build farms
for the first 50 posts, I want to see if this heads things off or opens up other ways to play.

Besides, it's not like Crystalids are very good at starving the enemy.
>>
>>42144345

Thanks for the ideas above by the way.

Any other suggestions to improve races? I want to make this as good as I can.

-slow/no expansion

.....yeah no, I can't do much more. I'm not familiar with the last few races, and I'm dunno about these choices.
>>
>>42144611

I've decided to get rid of the choices. Gonna refine this over the next few days then repost it. I'd appreciate if you could keep an eye out and drop any feedback when I do.
>>
>>42144925
Hey man, i had a suggestion for ya too

A race of Eaters. They either just pile on mass from prey onto their abomination bodies, or eat them and pick up small traits as they eat more.

Figured itd be cool to see people try to illusion magic them, make them military, or what.
>>
>>42143711
I don't like the whole choice aspect. It doesn't really add anything, except more to bicker over, and it means that races are missing a lot of definition.
Myceanea have to have fungal bodies, that's kinda the whole point of them no? etc etc
>>
>>42144978

Will bear that all in mind, thank you.

>>42144968

I always thought that slimes were like that to be honest.
>>
>>42145045
I always thought slimes were more water/element based though. React to environmental change, not as much diet. I was trying to think of a more eldritch thing, with Kroot-like evolution
>>
>>42145855

To be honest, I think that something like that could be decided by the CM; don't think it warrants a separate race.
>>
File: CivPerks.png (6.37 MB, 1500x6400)

Obvious WiP; but what are thoughts on the stats now? Shuffled a few about, feedback needed.

Ignore the choices/perks, as they will be changed.

Suggestions more than welcome.
>>
>>42144968
I like this idea but like worms, that gained their sentience from an eldritch or alien power. Give them magic that revolves around decomposition and decay. You could make them only able to reproduce using rotted biomass and such. I'm thinking Worms that Walk but with subraces of giant carrion worms and other gastropods mixed in.
>>
>>42146105

Yeah actually not a bad idea. I'd have to replace one of the other races though to make it even. Possibply Tengu, Vanara or Strix?
>>
>>42146205
I think strix could probably be combined with harpies as a sub-race. Maybe as a half-breed race.
>>
>>42146205
Psurlons are a thing.
>>
>>42146205
Tengu kinda seem like they'd be a part of harpy society. Females are harpy, males Tengu. Played a game like that, but with different races.
>>
>>42146444

Tengu are more magical I believe.
>>
>>42146205
doesnt matter if each line is not filled. it leaves room for more races later. if it really bothers you, just add a placeholder or like a big question mark and/or a silhouette

personally i'd like to see all races in the same image.

>>42145975
again, you should explain how the perks/traits works if we have to choose one or get both (like dwarves, i guess pick one)

>>42148285
>>42146444
it can still work. maybe a perk choice like patriarchy/matriarchy gives you one or the other.
>>
>>42148895

The Placeholder is a good idea, but there's only really a point in putting that if a decent race needs including. If better ones are thought of in the future I'll definitely do that.

As for the choices, I'm just gonna remove it as like somebody said earlier it's more to bicker over.

Not sure what you mean about patriarch/matriarch.
>>
>>42149095
like the guy said >>42146444
if you pick matriarchy you get tengu wwith more magic, if you pick matriarchy you get harpy
>>
>>42149982
