Deep into the the void, somewhere in the Imperium of man, lies a station, a space station that is ment to serve as a safe haven for travellers, or is it perhaps a bastion against the enemies of mankind
So far your station is quite small and only have:
>A crew of 1000 people (200 defence forces, 200 tech adepts from the Admech, 300 regular workers and 300 residents who can fill out every other slot exept tech adepts)
>It only has 2 "bigger" defence emplacements along with smaller gun ports for small las weaponry
>And it has 2 docking bays for standard imperial ships
>Turns left of supplies 10

Now where in the galaxy is this station located?
>Ultima Segmentum
>Segmentum Tempestus
>Segmentum Pacificus
>Segmentum Obscurus

Ok, segmentum tempestus it is. But what type of station shall we focus on expanding as. You can either focus on defence/offence and become as fortress or bastion. Or focus om commerce and become a trading hub for the sector.
It's up to you to decide when you need to choose between these two options:
>Install better bulkheads and build room for another gun emplacement
>Expand the living quartres and expand the dock and build a cargo hold that can store many more objects

Both will cost 3 supplies to build, and only one can be choosen at the time.
>>

We need to be able to shoot down all Inquisi---- pirate(!) ships who might come too close.

You decide that the protection of the station and it's inhabitants are your top priorety.
After a week of constant work the tech adepts and workers have expanded a piece ofd the station by building a simple but sturdy platform for another weapon along with adding better bulkheads to the mayor areas of the station. (That reminds me, we need a name for the station)
Uptdate on the station: Better bulkheads, intruders now have a harder time breaking through them, and another gun emplacement
Inhabitants 1000
Supplies left 7 (the first action was a special one that why it was so expensive, but keep in mind that you can lose supplies of you get attacked, there is a riot etc.

A ship is comming out from the warp a few clicks away. It seems to be a rouge trader ship designated as "The Rising Storm". It tries to hail your station. But what do you do?

You answer the hail wihle your gunner prep the two bigger weapons and point them at the ship.

Greeting Imperial citizens in this area of the void, I am Rouge Trader Hans Krubble the II. And I have but one simple request from your station. My ship is in a bad shape and I need aid in repairing it. All that I ask is that you offer one of your docks to me for a few weeks untill my ship's hull is fixed again. In return I can spare some of my personal defence while I am here. Will you permitt this action my loyal servant of the god Emperor?

Two possibilities spring to mind immediately.
>1
Attempt to determine if his ship is actually damaged before he reaches the station, if he's approaching from only a few kilometers distance then his ship is provably almost if not already visible to the naked eye.
>2
Allow him to dock, however I wouldn't suggest allowing his crew to spread around the station unless absolutely necessary, or until we determine definitively that they pose no risk.
Tell him to keep his security, and instead demand payment for the repairs.
>>
>>42125575
>Tell him to keep his security, and instead demand payment for the repairs.
Add to that:
But, of course, if an enemy of mankind shows up, we do expect him to do his duty as an Imperial citizen and aid us in the defense of this station.
>>
Any more votes guys? I will wait for another 10 min untill i choose what action who won.
Also the station still deosn't have a name. It's up to you what name it will have.

Going with this action as the winner!

You ask the the tech adepts to run a scan on the ship to see if it really has any damage while you say that this station already has good defence, But could use more supplies as payment for his stay, but he is expected to support the station with his troops if the situation demands it. Becuase that is the duty of loyal Imperial servant. The scan also turned positive, as 2 out of 5 thrusters and a pice of the lower hull is either in need of repair or missing.

A agrees at it is a fair trade and is ready to unload 4 supplies when it is docked but asked for his crew to stretch thier legs in the dock section of the station as a compromice.

How do you respond to his reply?

[Name will also be decided soon, so vote for the name guys!]
>>
>>42125817
I like it. Catchy.
>>
>>42126007
>Something else
I would say that can agree to allow his crew out of their ship as long as they are willing to be subjected to a weapons search first, any weapons they're carrying will be stored until they are ready to leave, or a threat to the station requires that they be conscripted to aid in a defense.
>>
>>42126007
>Agree
Guard all entry's and exits to the docking section. None of the rouge traders crew will be allowed to leave this area, except with the station commanders approval.
Also invite the Rouge Trader and his entourage to a formal dinner this evening, with the station commander. We will discuss future trading, and perhaps come to a deal.

Neat.
Here's a little mockup I did of the station, does it accurately represent the kind of station we're creating?
Red triangles indicate primary weapons emplacements.
Grey lines are the basic station's structure.
Dark black lines indicate a single level of structural reenforcment.
The green checks indicate docking bays that are functional.

If this is accurate and acceptable, is there anything I should add to it, like secondary weapons, currently habitable sections, stuff like that?

Interacting wins

A day or so after the ship had docked, and your workers and tech adepts are fixing his ship, and your defence force are guarding the port you take the time to send a messange to the rogue trader to invite him to dinner where you can discuss and talk like civilized people.

After a few hours he is now in the central structure of the station sitting across to you while servants have served what appears to be steam cooked grox.
What do you want to ask him?
>General questions about his travels
>Why his ship was damaged, and if it where enemeis are they destroyed or still looking for him etc?
>Talk business
>Something else (write in)

>>
>>42126524
>General questions about his travels
Let's start off light, we can discuss business over a glass of vintage Amasec later in the evening.

These are what I'd like to ask him about;
>Ask about his dynasty
>How many ships are his to command
>Where he have been in the sector
>General sector gossip
>>
>>42126524

>>
>>42126668
Here is the weapons of the station so far
2 macro cannons and atleast 30 smaller las turrets and weapons to deal with small fighters etc.
And since you choose to fortify the bulkheads you also got an empty weapon slot for a bigger weapon.
>>
>>42126717
That's kinda... well, we're not going to be fending off any Hive Fleets any time soon, let's put it that way. Need to get a lance turret fitted as soon as possible.
>>
>>42126524
I say we should ask him about how his ship got damaged, and if he was pursued. We'll be in trouble if he leads a band corsairs back to us or something.

>>42126807
Asking gernall questions wins

During the dinner you take the time to ask simple things like: where he is from, how many ships he commands etc.
He responds that he is from a small dynasty with not that many ships to his disposal. He does on the other hand have many connections around the nearby sectors.
After more chit-chatting you come to the topic regarding his ship. He said it was damaged by Orks who had made an ambush in an asteroid field. And that you shouldn't worry about them following him here, they are after all just mindless brutes.

>more general talk (nothing more to question him about)

Let's get a trade route going.
Perhaps we could offer aid in repairs and re-stocking of all the ships in his dynasty that dock here, in exchange for constant supply of supplies and what >>42126967 suggested, getting access to his connections.
Feel free to come up with other ideas.

Ok, time to discuss future trades and whatnot
After what seems like hours of discussions you both agree to set up a trade route in exhange that his ship will get refueled and restocked for free (you lose 1 supply from this) and that the rest of his fleet are allowed to dock and repair here with a small fee ofcourse. (every 10 turns a ship come by to give a minor event regarding repair, refuel, trade etc)

>>42127204
During your talks you sent a message to the tech adept who is in charge of the repairs if they had found anything respemeling Ork weapon fragments or damaged. He responed by saying that they found an undetonated rokkit in the lower decks, but they could not pinpoint from wich clan it was from

Contacts wins
You breifly mention about the rogue traders contacts when he offers you a list of names to ask for when asking for aid or other important issues around this sector and that you should say that you are a friend of Hans Krubble the II, but they still might be cynical when trusing someone they haven't even met, but the list is the following:

Govenor Geordi Xan Burbazov from the planet Terrzyl

General Jakob Tross of the local Astra Militarum in this sector

Lord Fabricator Element Spis of the forge world Zynk-3

The rogue trader stays for 2 weeks untill his ship is repaired and bids you fairwell. nad to your suprice he left a parting gift containing a crate filled with lasguns in hopes to give the station just a bit more defence

Update
Inhabitants: 1000
Supplies 10 (-1) when next action/even starts

With this extra crate with weapons you can finnaly put them in the small storage area that can be filled with 10 items, 9 now when the lasgun crate is in there.

The priests hurriedly scurries around, someone removing a cloth from the altar, reveling a stack of ammo. Another priest push the benches to the side, making room for the recoil mechanism of the gun.
The priests chants in unison
>In the name of the Holy Emperor, may you be purged.

You allow them to construct their chapel as a part of the macro cannon that is going to be built soon. They are alos only allowed to preach if they operate the cannon when/if the station is under attack

Minor event comming up

One of the tech adepts has some ideas of improve this station. He shows to you on a dataslate
>A way to improve the thickness to the hull
>build 20 more las turrets
>ignore it

You can only choose one, and every choise exept the last one will cost one supply
>>
>>42128958
>>A way to improve the thickness to the hull
The both of them are good. But I think more Armour is a bit better at this point.
>>
Well, since we are apparently in the middle of nowhere... can we make arrangements with the administration to turn our self into an official resupply point?
They give us stuff and in exchange we fix their ships and make sure most of said stuff is available to local naval and guard forces when they need it.

We might be able to put ourself on the map real quick if this works out.

>>42128958
>>build 20 more las turrets
Shooting things is important!
>>
>>42128958
Improve the hull.
>>
So, just a question for you guys. Do you enjoy this quest thread?
Becuase it is the first quest thread I have ever done. I am open for any help/tips etc that you can give me
>>
>>42128958
Well, we've already reinforced our armor once, and we've also added a special primary weapon.
The addition of the MacroChapel has reduced our supplies to half of their original level, so I'd suggest we take neither and reduce our supply consumption.
>>
>>42128958
>>build 20 more las turrets

This almost doubles our fighter defence.
>>
>>42129027
>Do you enjoy this quest thread?
Yes

>I am open for any help/tips etc that you can give me
Your scale is way, waaaaay off. Which is okay because this is Warhammer and if you try to make everything perfect you'll just end up with me-tier autism, get lost in the details and never get anything done.
>>
>>42128988
I vote for this.
That way we also get Supplies for ourselves, either as some sorts of payment for our services, or some supplies just get lost in the administration... strange how that works..

Though, if we are to supply nearby forces, we need ships (which I don't think we've got). Either ships, or they just have to come to us for re-supply.

>>42129027
Yes, I like it.
>>
>>42129027
I do indeed. I rarely come into quest threads early enough to make a meaningful difference, and I sense good things in this one.
>>
>>42128988
>>42129035
>>42129089
Ok 3 votes for more guns and 2 for extra armour. So 20 more turrets wins.
After about 1½ week 20 more turrets have been put in place round the station improving the defence agianst smaller things
>>
>>42129089
The idea is that they come here to dock, not that we go out and hand shit out.
They would use us as a warehouse and docking port in exchange for some small payment.
The benefits would (hopefully) be in putting us on the map for passing traders and bored soldiers and (space) sailors spending their wages while hanging out here and waiting for redeployment.
>>
>>42129126
Also we are down to 4 supplies
>>
>>42129027
>Do you enjoy this quest thread.
Absolutely.
Its the first time I've ever really contributed anything or participated, so I guess this is a learning experience for us both.
The simplicity of the supplies is a basic, but honestly it doesn't matter that much to me.
>>
>>42129053

No, just big scary dudes who keep discipline.
In some chaos armies (Siege of Vraks, from what I remember) they are the thing that keeps chaos cultists from running away because they have poor morale and no commissars.
Of course, the concept of a big scary dude staring at your back to make sure you don't run away from battle works just fine outside of chaotic armies. Commissars do a similar thing, just with cool hats on top.

Our first action should be to repair the damage to the stations hull.

Salvage should be our terciary objective, because the debris field isn't going to vanish out of thin...space...
So we can scoop up salvage at our leisure afterwards.

Orks are edible and actually don't taste bad. Mushrooms.

>>42130526
Nah, that's squigs you're thinking of. Apparently they're delicious, like ham with the texture of chicken.
>>
>>42130544

>>
>>42130583
I dunno, I don't even want to think about what kind of toxins build up in Ork flesh over the years.
>>
A few hours after a battle you order people to seal of the damaged sections of the station and repair it (this will cost you one supply, down to 3 now)
Afterwards you make a body count and give them the emperors blessing before you dispose of the bodies
Now regarding the damged ork ships, most of them are to far away to salvage since you don't own a proper salvage vessel, but the 3 that where shot down by las turret fire are mostly intact
How will you deal with the 3 ships?

Servo-skulls, stand by with the guns in case of survivors.
>>
>>42130630
Assuming the wrecks are caught in the station's gravity, and are either orbiting it slowly or tidally locked, we should send servoskulls first, we have time so there's no reason to put our people at risk with an immediate salvage operation.
While the potential supplies/materiel are important, we aren't in any massive hurry since our damage has been repaired.
>>
>>42130630
First send in servo skulls, then scour it with armsmen (supported by servo skulls) and then send in workers and tech adepts (guarded by armsmen).
Handle the wrecks one by one.

Ask the priests if they can use their ship to tow far away ork wrecks closer for us to salvage, once we are done with the wrecks within reach. The tech adepts should be able to cook up some kind of towing implement, hopefully.
>>
After having a talk with the tech adepts htey agree to let you borrow the skulls in return that they are the ones responsible for salveging the ships (tell who get what part of the scrap, you or the admech)
