>Iron Rimmed Mirrors – Hestia completely destroyed the mirrors during testing, unraveling the enchantments was very difficult but successful in the end. Simple size modifications will allow for permanent portals to be created between two locations allowing rapid transport of anything. Due to Ayla’s playing with the mirrors it is known to be safe for living things to pass through the portals created.

>Enchantment– Finishing the research on the mirrors helped Hestia greatly in understanding how to bind magic to physical objects permanently. Hestia can now bind any spell or magical effect she knows to an object.


Current ongoing research

Madblade – When Hestia handles the blade there is no effect, but when the researchers or goblins handle to blade for too long they go berserk and try to murder anything around them. The new understanding of enchantment should help speed research of the blade.


New items available for research

>Time distortion – It should be possible to use the advancements in modifications of space and gravity to expand control to time itself.


Current problems

Hey there good to see people joining.

You go to the city’s gate to speak with the herald. You find a small horned creature holding a sheet of paper.


“What? Why does a human come?” The creature chirps. “I demand to see the leader of the goblins.”

“I am the goblin king, do you wish to enter and speak further?” You ask.

“A human leads the goblins?” The creature asks as a cloud of smoke creeps along the ground towards it.

“Yes is that a problem?”

“No no no, it is unexpected. The dark lord though humans didn’t like goblins URK-” The creatures chirping reply is cut short has Ayla grabs it.


“Oh look master! It’s so evil but cute, we should see if it’s stronger than the goblins.” Ayla says while spinning it about despite its protests.

“Ayla, let it speak its message please.”


“I have come,” The creature says while trying to fight off a spell of dizziness. “To announce that the dark lord is recruiting for revolution. Here take the invitation and keep that woman away from me.”


The creature hands you the paper and vanishes with a burst of flame. It reads like a revolutionary manifesto, down with humans, up with the downtrodden creatures and so on. It finishes by says that by breaking the seal you will be transported to the dark lord’s realm to negotiate and you may bring up to two bodyguards if you doubt the sincerity of the dark lord.


You are pretty sure that the creature was an imp of something, so that means that at least one lord of hell is seeking to invade or something. This could provide a distraction for you to continue invading the research rings, you could stop the invasion to garner good will perhaps or you can just ignore it all since it’s not your problem.

Personally, I just want to go have a civil conversation with not!satan.

What could possibly go wrong? You gather up your equipment, a couple extra scanners then you take Ayla over to the shaman’s temple and ask the old blind Bonetooth shaman to go with you the goblin is a bit grumpy with being asked to go to hell but acquiesces because it is true that you should bring a goblin with you. Then you mount your giant lizard and break the seal on the invite. A rush of flame rips open a portal to a twisted fiery hellscape. You ride though the portal on the giant lizard and it closes behind you leaving you, Ayla, the shaman, and the giant lizard alone and cut off.


A group of imps fly over and direct you to ride the lizard through a twisted path of cooled lava. The giant lizard is VERY upset, it has never been in a place with so much fire, you can hear as the bottom of its feet is repeatedly burned and healed as it walks.


During your journey one of the imps looks around to check if anyone is watching, then approaches you.

“The master of this plane will reward you, just kill the upstart, you never heard this from me.” It quickly chirps and backs away to its original position.

A pair of imps stands guard at a cave opening and salute when you arrive.

“Greeting to the first responder, the dark lord awaits.” They chirp as you approach and usher your lizard to walk into the cave.


Down a twisted passage you find a human sized imp sitting on a bone throne with skulls scattered about in a river of blood. The creature hefts its pitchfork as it stands.


“Why does a human dare enter my domain?” The creature demands.

“Dark lord sir, the human leads the goblins you wanted to recruit.” An imp chirps and cowers in fear of retaliation.


“How unusual, let me ask human do you wish for more power?” The ‘dark lord’ asks. “Help me destroy your kind and it shall be yours.”


“Master, this thing is evil we shouldn’t help it.” Ayla’s voice echoes into your mind.

Read through last thread. A bunch of anons were worried about Hestia having genocide simulations.
However, I would like to propose that she was confused about why she no longer wanted to carry through with them.
Her avatar is Shodan from system shock, meaning she was probably originally based off of that character.
However, when we originally fixed her core we got a bonus for changing her personality. If that happened to me, I know I'd try to analyze how Reggie did it

You grab the creature’s hand and pull the life from it while charging your laser.

Its cries are cut short as you unleash your laser right at the creature’s face.


Ayla giggles as the creature’s grasp goes limp and its headless body falls to the ground.


“I knew master wouldn’t help a bad thing like that.”


Imps flood into the room ready to attack but they see the dead body and start chirping excuses to each other for why they are leaving. The crowd slowly departs, except one that approaches you.


“Good, good, true master will be happy. Upstart dead, rules not broken.” It chirps. “You come to see master now, get reward.”

“Just who is the ruler here?” You ask it.

“You will see, just come, follow follow.”

You take a moment to look around and maybe grab some skulls or something.

This cave is really empty, there is nothing around at all, how terrible. So you get back on the lizard and follow the chirping imp.

“Master, are you sure we should go? It could be something big and evil”

“Chief yous is strong.” The shaman tells you. “Yous consort is right though, be careful.”


“It should probably be ok, hell doesn’t seem that bad so far.” You say and the lizard groans in protest of the heat.


The lizard walks for a long time following the imp through the twisting paths of lava and flame. You come to an area with actual buildings built from stone a massive sprawling city with towers and walls built up onto a hill of cooled lava. In the distance a massive creature is slowly destroying the town.

“Here here, the true ruler of this plane. Get reward and leave human.” The imp chirps and leaves you alone.


You navigate the city streets seeking a point high enough to speak to this creature that the imp calls the ruler. As you get closer it stops destroying the city and the dripping of melting stone around it halts for your approach.


“You have slain the upstart imp.” Its voice booms out. “Good, I am bound by ancient rules unable to act. The fool is undone by its own design.”


“The imp said to seek you out for a reward.” You say and the creature’s baleful gaze turns to you.


“Your reward is life. I shall allow you to leave with those you entered with.” The creature says, it pauses for a moment. “You have the upstart’s energy with you, give me the soul orb it is of no use for you.”

You don’t really want to give up your orb to this creature. When you stow your laptop you notice that the prayer books are emanating more energy than normal begging to be used. You pull out one at random, the book of Ablutions and open it.


“Apostate I shall permit you use of my law to slay this beast.” A voice rings though your mind.


The letters on the pages of the book glow as you read the incomprehensible script, even your translation implant is unable to translate what it is you are saying.


A spear of light pierces though the fabric of reality and collides with the demon lord. There is a blinding flash of light as smoke clouds the demon’s body.


“A foolish mistake human, no gods have power here.” The demon steps clear of the smoke, black flakes crumbling from its body where the spear of light collided.

The demon’s body is covered with a slight glow. It doesn’t seem to do anything at all.


You feel Ayla channel mana, a lot of mana. A bolt of lightning arcs though the air and strikes the demon’s head. Three additional bolts of lightning form and strike the demon, the force of the electrical blow render the demon helpless. Thick streams of blood flow from the smoking gashes in the demon’s head.


“Fight with Ayla the lizard will protect the shaman while I guide the construction of a portal out.” Hestia says.

You keep slashing your way into the demon’s body, surely something that is a lord of hell shouldn’t be this weak so you need at work fast. If it is still alive and trying to regenerate then pulling its soul out will put an end to that. On the other hand, those books did help you out a bit so you pull the set of four books out, sit down and hold them in your lap. You’re not really sure how this works so you just try to focus on the books.

You feel a bit conflicted so you get back to chopping the demon lord’s body.

The paper is the deed to the first layer of hell, apparently by killing a lord of hell you become the new lord of that area of hell you just need to drip a single drop of blood on the paper to confirm your new rule.

I mean as far as the book and deed are concerned we don't need to chose immediately. We hold the contract, so we can keep it and give it to whoever, a big bargaining chip. We can always kill the 'next lord' if they don't reaffirm their promises made before taking the contract. That and whoever takes it must keep their word so we could count on any of their promises (The letter at least if not the spirit of said promises). The book, assuming we don't do too much of the negative tenants in the immediate future, could be adopted later, though that seems unlikely. In any case as we grow stronger its power will be less attractive. Neither seems the best for now.

Yes, looking closer at the rules of both offers you decide to remain freelance for now. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. The imps don’t bother you at all as you help construct the portal, this area that looks like a city seems to be the most stable part of hell around so you will leave the portal here. You anchor the sturdy steel frame inside one of the many unused buildings. Once in place you arrange the scanners around it and Hestia does something with magic and a smooth glass pane appears within the frame, looks like you have a way home now. The giant lizard can just barely fit but you send it and the shaman though first, they didn’t much like hell after all.


“Let’s go home master!” Ayla excitedly pulls you into the portal next.


You emerge in a secure area of Hestia’s design, metal slides into place behind you sealing the portal for now.

“You were gone for only seventeen hours. There are no gaps in data recovered during your trip.”


Good everything seems to be in order then. Perhaps it would be good to study what you found during your trip though.

“However there is a new problem. A vast number of teleportation signals appeared around the city an hour ago.” Hestia interrupts your thoughts. “Currently nothing is coming though, but they appear to be building power for a mass transfer of something.”
