>You are normally a villager girl named Ellen from a small village in the nation of Neir, on the continent of Teege. Today, however, you... aren't. The first option of today's thread will, effectively, be "who are you?" A 20-minute time limit will be in effect instead of the usual vaguely-defined one for voting.

>Since Ellen is separated from the main group, every other thread will focus on one of them until either Ellen reunites with the group or they stop having noteworthy things to do onscreen.

>The questmasters are Octoling (myself), and Grandflaw. There's no particular rhyme or reason to who posts when, and oftentimes one will not appear at all.

>Character Death is always a possibility (this is Fire Emblem after all), but your actions can very easily influence who lives and who dies.

>Voting periods will last an average of ten to fifteen minutes, but this may be increased, decreased, or generally changed at any given moment based on voter turnout.

Today will not be particularly eventful, but this is because you're heading to Neir very soon to recuperate after... Pretty much everything that's happened.

A wyvern rider with an assumed name is finally getting away from her past in Dain as another mercenary finally gets to his.

Very few people currently know the aforementioned rider's secret, at least for the moment, so naturally one of them must be the one in today's spotlight.

>A. Garrus, crown(?) prince of Neir, who has recently lost a father and gained a new admirer
>B. Eva, runaway princess of Dain, flying off to Neir with the knowledge of her sister's safety
>C. Monica, a Falcoknight second to Lady Yvette and personal retainer to Princess Salia
>D. Salia, a princess of Neir with absolutely no experience in combat and a lot of desire for independence

You are now Monica, a knight, an older sister, and someone much colder than you once were. Much more dutiful, much more responsible, but definitely much colder.

The very same night of that scare with your youngest sister, Zoe, threatening to abandon her position to seek out Ellen, her mercenary mentor Gorman introduced you, Yvette, Garrus, and Heim's General Corneria to a redheaded youth, revealing herself to be a princess of Dain named Eva and traveling undercover, hoping to seek temporary asylum for herself and her sister. She'd also managed to help a mercenary group led by someone named Miles to Aum Dungeon in exchange for, well, saving said sister.

You've never seen Corneria and her subordinate, that Logan fellow, look so... Angry, so betrayed, as she explains that "Mimon" was in fact her cousin Lars, and it's barely dulled by her insistence that he's only staying loyal to the empire for similar reasons to why she once was, and that she's really not certain where HIS youngest sister, Paula, is, at any given moment. She also took several lingering looks at Garrus when she wasn't talking (rare moments).

Logan, Yvette and Garrus chose to trust her, to let her travel with the group when they headed back east, and even Gorman apparently had something to do.

What was your stance on her, though?

>A. You sympathize with the princess and her explanations. If someone had your sisters in danger, you would do whatever it took to keep them safe and then whatever would make their captors suffer afterwards.

You wouldn't admit it to anybody, but if Zoe had done something so stupid, you probably wouldn't have been able to keep yourself from imploring that Lady Yvette allow you to do the same. You don't know if she would let you, and don't know if that would have stopped you.

You get a somewhat weird feeling from how interested she is in prince Garrus (wouldn't they be cousins?), but figure it's some Dain royalty thing. Dain's ruling family isn't exactly known for being entirely right, so maybe...

Bah, it's none of your business.

Corneria isn't entirely receptive to Eva's tale, basically telling her that she would believe her "when the Great Miles Company returns with my children and that same story."

Later on, you're the one tasked with pulling Salia aside and telling her about this, making certain nobody can hear you. Princess Eva seems terrified of information leaking for as long as she doesn't know her sister is safe.

"Alright, then," she yawns, looking very tired-out-but overall much mentally-emotionally stabler than she has been in the past couple days. You make a mental note to commend Zoe, assuming her involvement. "Who is it?"

"A princess of Dain by the name of Eva. You are to refer to her as 'Riga' in public until we say otherwise."

"Riga... Wait, is she the wyvern knight, carries around a flame lance, talks a lot, says she's cousins with... Mimon... Which means that..."

"Your less-traitorous brother asked the same thing. The answer is yes. It's normally the same general overpowering shade of blue of Queen Minerva's lineage."

"...huh." She squints her eyes a bit, you assume trying to imagine what "Mimon" looks like with blue hair. Honestly, you're more curious about him as a redhead.

You silently stand watch over the warp pad entrance to the room, occasionally looking around, but being, well, silent all throughout.

You offhandedly think about hair dye, since it came up on the tail-end of the conversation. Would you look good with something besides light-brown hair? Maybe you could look really menacing with long, flowing black hair, balancing your sword on the ground in front of you, hands resting on the edge of the hilt, a scowl in your face and eyebrows unshaven and intense.

Your fantasy becomes a bit more intense, imagining yourself and your sisters as Dark Fliers (they don't even use swords, what are you thinking?!), you flying off ahead and saving your nation and your princess from certain defeat... Returning to Neir, returning to him...

In light of recent events, your mind throws some things about Ellen and Zoe in there, but it's completely irrelevant to your own thoughts.

Finding yourself doing the pose you'd imagined earlier, you glance downwards at the ring on your finger.

Your mood worsens as you realize how long it's been since you've heard from your fiance. He had... Something to find, he'd said.

He's a treasure hunter, explorer, whatever you call it, so you know that that was just business as usual, but at the time it felt... It felt like it might be far more significant than his usual discoveries, especially since he was headed off into the mountains of Tordo to find it.

It's... been a couple years, now. Three? Maybe three. Regardless, it's been longer than he's usually away, longer than he suggested he would be away this time...

Sometimes you wonder if he only said he was going to such an unusual place to get away from you, that he'd proposed to you with intent of following up as soon as he's returned, which is to say never coming back... But you shake those thoughts out of your head every time.

Your sisters don't talk about Florence much. They don't talk to you much in general, even when you're as close in proximity as this. You don't even know if they know or care that you have a life, and maybe you deserve their distance with how you act, what sort of personality you had to develop to raise your sisters, to protect your kingdom.

No, no. You have every reason to be like this. You know that it's a bit off-putting, but they must understand to some extent. Plus, it would do no good for a protector of a princess to suddenly look soft. Besides, you LIKE solitude. You don't mind a lack of people intruding it.

You find that you've accidentally slightly buried the tip of your sword into the floor by pushing on the hilt too hard. That's... going to be something to explain to housekeeping. You quickly sheathe the weapon and move a nearby rug over the mark with your feet.

"Apologies, princess. I'll tell Zoe to be quieter in my place."

You run into your sisters chatting in the Tower of Longevity's foyer, Cheryl urging Zoe to "just go for it as soon as you see her again!" in her typical encouraging tone. Your youngest sister nods, but the conversation peters out as they both notice you.

Awkwardly, she says, "oh, er, hey, Monica. Time for me to watch the princess?"

You nod, adding a "be quiet, though. She's trying to sleep."

"R-right..."

Yeah, things are still a bit awkward since your fight earlier. Does Cheryl know about that? You can't tell as she greets you with a friendly, "how're you doing, Monica?"

I don't think I have to say that I could be doing better. Since you were speaking with Zoe, I'm guessing she's holding up fine now. Sigh... I hope she understands on why I was hard on her with that impulsive desire of hers. But It's not like I don't understand where she's standing on.

"No different than usual, Cheryl. What were you and Zoe discussing?" You hope it's not that earlier embarrassment of a meeting.

"My specialty!" she says, "being nosy about people who have love lives!" Cheryl grins. "We'd all agreed to no romance talk on girls' night out, but now that Salia and Nat are checked in I can't help myself!"

You nod. You don't need to know more about that. Instead, you shift the topic with, "I suppose she's doing better than she was earlier now. Gh... I hope she can understand why I said and did what I did when she made that sort of threat..."

"Hm?"

"Urgh, you didn't know, did you? Well, since I've already shot myself in the foot by saying it..." You don't give the details of the meeting with Ahua, not trusting... Well, ANY of what she said to be true (which, as soon as that wolf was gone, Yvette stated her agreement towards. The dog's story is sketchy, and it's all the more reason you should head back East first thing tomorrow), but you summarize Zoe's poor reaction.

"I understand where she's coming from, too, considering..."

"Ooh, yeah..." Cheryl frowns, knowing exactly who/what you're referring to, "sorry that happened." And back to her usual demeanor, "maybe this'll be a bonding experience, though!"

You are now Riga, at least in the eyes of the country around you.

Of course, you know that your real name is Eva, that your real past is far less mundane than "famous mercenary's lesser-known cousin."

At the moment, you're sitting with your deal wyvern pal, enjoying the stars on top of the Tower of Longevity, occasionally tossing some sort of wyvern treat his way.

You finally met Prince Garrus, after your Aunt Alexia told you so much good about him, and you've not only practically guaranteed your younger sister's safety and gotten out of Dain, but are going to be on a Mage General's good side soon enough.

Very nice for someone with aspirations as great as your own.

You were expecting someone taller, considering how huge his brother is, and when Alexia said he was never confident enough, you didn't think she meant being that socially awkward.

You suppose some of your expectations were affected by your... very specific mindset, prone to fantasies and the like, and never having seen him in person, but it's far from fair to say you're disappointed.

This could be good, even.

The other members of the personal guard haven't even been informed that you're to be traveling with them, let alone who you are, so maybe you and your wyvern shouldn't be lounging around on top of the Tower of Longevity like you're somebody important.

Eh, you can just stick to your story that you're staying here as a favor for "Mimon's" dedicated service to Lady Katina ever since he was hired by the Mage General. Regardless, you're getting bored of being up here.

"C'mon, Medeus, let's head into town."

And then, well, you do so, getting a bit of a kick out of people watching as you fly just over the roofs of various buildings as you scout around town, looking for anything interesting to do. You only had a chance to visit that one armory earlier, and you figure the night is still young enough.

You land and secure Medeus in the wyvern stables, actually feeling a tad sad at thinking that Khozen was there until just recently. King Drasma is dead, and people are already... Well, recovering fast. That's a good thing.

Not like Corneria can be talked into retaliation against the Vautou, though.

Anyway, you've dismounted, so where do you head from here?

"So since it's not anything about anyone's origins or anything's, any particular reason you're selling it for so low and keeping so... Low-key?"

"Is there any reason you're keeping so low-key, your highness?"

You open your mouth to ask who the hell this is, now CERTAIN you've actually met this particular vendor in person, but... You know that it'd be a mistake to challenge her after that thinly-veiled threat about origins. And she knows you're a royal who left home with a decent-sized wallet.

"Just... Don't mention that you saw me," you say, somehow certain that she'll keep her lips sealed.

"Feel free to come by again some other time! I've always got hot, hot items to move!"

The silent man, Jay apparently, just makes an affirmative grunt.

"Yeah, after we get back to Rakche, I'm out. Only if you quit with me, though. I'd drive anybody else crazy and worry myself sick if you weren't around."

You don't see much reason to step in, just starting out your night and letting the muscley men have their moment.

"When should we break it to Reese? Eh, on second thought, let's just... wait for whenever the timing's right. Maybe we could go back to Tarvos Valley, see if there's someplace else needs lumberjacks, or local guards, or... somethin' of that nature. Think Dagda Village is still standing? You got a cousin lives there, right?"

There's a break in the conversation awhile as the men's food and drink are brought to them.

"Took ya long enough," the bearded, talkative one says (you wonder if you'll ever learn his name, since Jay clearly isn't about to speak up), "we've seen like six people who came in after us get their stuff already!"

"I'm... terrible sorry, sir. We did tell you it would take awhile to-"

"Yeah, yeah, just... More ale."

"Right away, sir." The waiter who brought them their food scurries away to the bar.

You turn and see Jay giving his friend a look, to which he responds with a defensive, "what?"

You're staying out of this one, you find yourself thinking as you sip your beverage.

These are just ordinary guys, one of whom happens to be a bit of an asshole, both of whom happen to be... well, they haven't expressly confirmed it, but they're clearly implying that they're with the personal guard.

"Man, though, I really hope for the best for ol' Reese. I mean, hundred gold says he won't be 'getting the girl' in classic knight fashion, but he's accepted that ages ago now. Speakin' of, you think Ellen's even still alive?"

Jay half-nods before shrugging and looking down a bit.

"Yeah, knee-jerk reaction's a definite yes, but... Eheh, hey, remember the one time she ever got plastered and then she broke my nose on... it was my birthday, right? I mean, I know what you're gonna say about it, but-"

"You deserved it." Jay's voice is surprisingly high for someone so imposing-looking, uncertain from a lack of use. It seems only an exceptionally small list of topics can get him to use it at all.

"Hah, yeah... Really shouldn't have dragged Gorman-talk into our argument so soon after he left."

Jay nods, "the, er... Way I see it..."

"Yeah, yeah, shitty thing to do, he left for a stupid reason and absolutely really did screw us all over like I thought, but rubbin' it in Ellen's face was terrible. Don't stress yourself out talkin' in public for my account."

He mumbles a "thank you."

You just order another drink, make a mental note to leave a decent chunk of extra gold for the waiter you share with that loud fellow when you leave.

You proceed to take in more of your heightened awareness, focusing on various other conversations. Something about the meaning of a song, the logistics of gratuity, a man and a woman who you think are concealing weapons and talking awfully intently about robbing places, and someone who is clearly two kids on each other's shoulders being shown out by that same waiter.

"Alright, keep your eyes on anyone who looks like a mercenary, like always."

"Got it."

The robbery-talking duo stands up, proving your suspicions right with some... Frankly nasty-looking daggers and throwing knives with one's case, a rather imposing sword with the other.

"Feel like bein' heroes one more time, Jay?" You can pick up on the talkative muscular fellow say, and you assume Jay nodded as he continues with an "alright, then."

Alright, this'll be a good test. These idiots look fast, if nothing else, and the apparent lumberjacks too far from home... Don't.

You actually find yourself taking down the dagger-wielding guy with relative ease by focusing on him first, actually managing to grab his wrist and throw him down to the ground. He's a very light-looking guy, not particularly hard to take down after you get past the speed he probably relied on. While the swordswoman focuses on you in a moment of surprise, Jay and his friend actually spring into action, working together well to wrestle the sword away from and subdue the one you didn't go for first.

"That rogue was lookin' right at you and had his knives out. How the hell'd you get the drop on him?" the talkative one asks in bewilderment as that poor waiter goes to signal for town guards to come running.

"Well, you see, I'm... actually just that good. In the blood or whatever you want to call it. I mean, my cousin's gotta be the fastest thing alive, and we share at least one grandparent, so... Yeah, in the blood."

"Well, that could've ended way uglier if you didn't pull that there off. Tell me, stranger, the hell are you?"

"It's... It's Riga. I'm a wyvern rider, mercenary, whatever you wanna call me," you smirk a bit, "but it's a shame that I won't be able to stick around for too long. I need to get to Rakche in the morning..."

"Shit, no way, so's our whole group. Man, you've gotta meet Reese, though. He's all about heroic knightlihood these days, and I think he'd appreciate hearing about you. I'm Robert, by the way, this here's Jay."

"I'd love to!" You really would. Even you sometimes have fantasies about knights in shining armor, and from what you've overheard this Reese fellow has really grown into the part.

You end up returning to the tower with the duo, discovering a fellow with slightly-messed up brown hair, otherwise very plain-looking aside from beefiness, walking back from the direction of the nearby gym somewhat sweaty.

"They had to kick me out so they would be certain I slept on my last night here," the fellow said with a bit of a humorous tone, "but how did you two enjoy your terrible habits?"

"As much as you enjoy never getting off your high horse about it, pal," Robert says, pointing you out and continuing, "this is our new friend Riga. She just thwarted a damned robbery without touching that lance she's got there. Says she rides wyverns."

"A wyvern-rider, hmm? I can't say I've ever met one besides his majesty... Anyway, it's a pleasure to make the acquaintance of the apparent woman of the hour! I'm Reese." You find yourself taken into a firm handshake within seconds.

Hitting the gym at this hour? You must be quite the knight like your friends said you were.

"Sounds like you're pretty good friends with the staff that run the gym here. Otherwise it sounds like you'll be over there pumping iron at this hour."

You must admit, you're still not quite the fan of this Reese fellow. He doesn't seem like complete scum, but you bet you would hate him if you knew him before he became a knight. Word of Robert talking up who he is now was NOT kind to who he used to my god he is built.

Shit, how long have you been staring? He probably notices. Okay, uh, play it off cooly, "hitting the gym at this hour, getting the workers there fond enough of you to only kick you out for your health? Sounds like you really, er, take this knight stuff seriously." You run your fingers through your hair awkwardly, continuing, "I mean I'm a mercenary myself, not really all that famous... Have a sort of famous cousin, but, uh, we don't really look all that alike... Gets me into the tower, though, y'know? Heh..."

Reese can't help but grin a bit at the obvious source of your demeanor, continuing, "yes, but I really haven't had all that much to do BUT train. Deserts aren't all that kind on people in heavy armor, so I've had to walk around like this the whole time I've been here. Soon, though, soon, I'll be in decent enough weather again."

"Yeah, that's really cool... Er, Neir, right?"

"This one's really observant, Reese. Sharp, too."

"Well, it's just that... Well, I have family living in Neir, so I was gonna visit!"

You continue with this awkward train of conversation awhile before heading off into your own room in the tower, stepping onto a warp pad and calling it a night.

You wonder if your antics have alienated Garrus when you first met him. He's made of much less confident stuff than that knight clearly was.

Ah, his mother said he's just very reserved at first. You're certain he'll warm up to you eventually if you don't do anything bad, keep giving him signals. It's not like it'd be some sort of chore, like you feel like getting to know Reese would be. You've wanted to get to know him in general since you first heard about him.

You start to drift off into tired fantasies before falling asleep, but that mood is killed by a sudden pang of extreme concern for your dear little sister. You know that she'll be fine, but... God, you hope she's alright. That she isn't afraid or hurt or anything.

You wonder if Lars gets this way about literally not knowing anything about Paula's location other than "in the 'protection' of one of the emperor's personal lackeys" and "gets moved around a lot."

I'm honestly surprised at how little went wrong this thread, considering my slew of technical issues today/yesterday.

Thanks for playing, and as always you can follow on twitter @qmgrandflocto, I'll be here to talk about shit in-thread for most of the night, and if I somehow miss your question (or you don't ask it here for whatever reason), you can just swing by http://ask.fm/qmgrandflocto

Soooo will there be an S-support for Ellen in the near future, judging from an earlier post? I myself don't really mind who Ellen ends up with but I don't want her to tank a relationship by saying no or anything like that.
>>
>>42043142
There are very few things in the quest that are set in stone, so it's easier to adapt what vague plans I do have into another form. I certainly appreciate the playerbase.

>>42043188
As was said in the first ever thread, Grandflaw and I aren't exactly very motivated people in general. He's around and lurks the threads and reads them, but I think another part of it is a lack of confidence in his writing/thinking that he'd be stepping on toes by accidentally writing away some grand scheme. That's not the case, as I just said, but the human mind is a pain in the ass.
>>
>>42043246
It all depends on how our heroine reacts to a confession, which is to say how the thread reacts to a confession. I feel like now is a good time to actually start pairing people off, unlike the first several threads when things weren't too well-defined yet, but if or when Ellen gets in on that, or who with, is... You know the deal.

As another random aside piece of information, for some reason or another, best described as "Fire Emblem's fucked-up hair color genetics," blond/e hair is actually a very overpowering hair color to have in the Generically universe (though I don't know if you can perfectly apply real-life genetic logic to anything in an FE-themed setting), but it's very rarely seen inland on Teege outside of specific noble lineages (Miles' line). However, it's exceptionally common in the Ulir Islands, which people rarely ever travel to or from due to the prevalence of pirates/crimes at the continent's southern coasts.

It is slightly more common along said coastline, but that's about it.
