Balor leaps down from the viewing box, landing in a crouch before rearing up to his full height, towering above you and regarding you with the amusement of a predator whose prey has come to him.

"Tell me, little human, did you honestly believe I wouldn't know about this little attack of yours?" he asks, taking a step forward.

Instinctively, you drop into a defensive stance, and position yourself between Balor and Kasai. Balor's single eye turns to regard the unconscious demon you're shielding with your body, and he chuckles in amusement.

"I wouldn't worry about her now," He advises. "Her fate is sealed. You, on the other hand...may still prove useful. While I would like nothing more than to slaughter you where you stand, my brother and my lord believe you could be an asset. They asked me to invite you to our ranks."

Balor looks at you in distaste. "But considering how you handled my previous offer, I'm not inclined to do as they wish, in this case. But, perhaps if you kneel at my feet and beg to serve, I will spare your life."

"Will you spare her?" you ask.

Balor smirks. "No. She dies, as do the two others who accompanied you here. Your life alone will be spared, that is my offer. You may take it, or die with them."

You weigh your options. Kasai is unconscious, and badly outclassed even if she were awake. Kara has used most of her energy, and Kaya isn't a fighter.

You're alone. You can still fight, but you've used a good deal of energy in your previous fights. You doubt you can stall long enough for any real recovery of your energy, and even if you did, it likely wouldn't matter. Balor is far stronger than you, despite the training you received from Koe.

The room is empty other than you, Balor, and the portal in its center. You have no idea what's on the other side, but they sent a beat through it, and for all you know, there could be others. The doors are shut behind you, but you could certainly blast through them. But, Balor would pursue you if you tried to run, and with him so close, you doubt you'd survive long enough to even make it out of the room.

You aren't going to win a direct battle, and you know it. Balor knows it too, that's why he's so confident right now. And, he has every reason to be. You're tired, your friends are either incapacitated or too weak to fight, and he can easily catch you if you run.

But, maybe you can use his confidence against him.

You drop to one knee, bowing your head in submission to the demon lord standing before you. While you can't see, you're pretty sure he's surprised by this, as it takes him a moment to say anything.

"A wise decision," he comments, stepping closer and towering above you. "But I remain unconvinced that you wish to serve."

You plead pathetically to be allowed to live and serve Balor's master. He doesn't stop you for nearly a minute, and you're pretty sure he's enjoying your groveling immensely.

He chuckles. "Very well, I will spare you for now. Rise, and-"

You quickly thrust your right hand towards his massive eye, unleashing a torrent of flame that hits him right where he's most vulnerable. Crying out in agony, he steps away from you, and you dash over to Kasai, picking her up and stating towards the portal.

You pause. Kara and Kaya are still right outside the doors. Kara is exhausted, and Kaya can't fight a demon of Balor's strength. If you leave them now, they may very well die.

Our best bet is to escape with the others, then split up by having Kaya carry Kasai and Kara in her oar while we make Balor chase us since we pissed him off right now, becoming his number 1 target.

Or to escape in the portal with Kasai while shouting at Balor that he is a dumbass for falling for the oldest trick in the book and telling him if he wants us dead to come after us in the portal, thus keeping Kaya and Kara safe, while John figures out a way to get him and Kasai to safety from wherever we land on in. Probably the demon world where Koe can help us faster.

You can't just leave Kara and Kaya to die.

Spinning around, you kick through the doors to the room, hearing Balor howl in rage behind you as you rush outside. A terrible crash overhead draws your attention, and you look to see the doorway collapsing. You rush forward, avoiding being trapped.

"What happened?" Kaya asks as you come running.

Kara looks over your shoulder and seems to understand the situation. "We need to go, now."

Kaya looks confused, but pulls out her oar, pulling Kara onto it with her and flying down the hall by your side as you run with Kasai in your arms. A crash behind you lets you know that Balor has left the room he accidentally trapped himself in.

As you continue to dash through the mansion, you see several figures blocking your path. They look like large, green humans with terrible hair and incredibly thin bodies. They shamble towards you like zombies, and you prepare to take them out.

"No!" Kara tells you. "Save your energy."

She points at the creatures, and you see a ring on the finger she's aiming with.

"SPIRIT GUN!"

A beam of light shoots from her fingertip, zipping straight down the hall and engulfing each of the many creatures blocking your path. With a groan, Kara falls onto Kaya's shoulder, barely conscious.

With the way clear, you rush for the door, only to see a colossal red beam of light shoot over your head and blast the doorway, collapsing it and leaving you trapped.

Turning around, you find a very angry Balor marching down the hall towards you, his massive eye glowing red.

"You will suffer before you die," he promises, the glow fading.

He clenches his hands into fists, and a smile works its way onto his face. He licks his lips in anticipation as he slowly makes his way towards you.

You turn to Kaya, handing her Kasai and telling her to find a way out.

"Nobody is leaving," Balor insists, his eye glowing red as he takes aim at Kaya and the others.

"SPIRIT GUN!" you shout, firing a thin beam of Spirit Energy at the demon.

He answers with a massive red blast of Demon Energy, and the two attacks meet in the middle. You push with all of your might against Balor, but you're frankly no match, and he quickly manages to push your attack back.

You scream in agony as his attack strikes you, your body erupting into immeasurable pain as you're thrown towards the rubble. The blast explodes, throwing the rubble pile away and sending you crashing into Kaya and the others. You take the worst of the blast, but the others are hit as well.

You land just outside of the door, lying on top of a now unconscious Kaya. You push yourself back up to see Balor standing in what's left of the doorway. He smirks and backhands you with enough force to send you crashing through trees in the distance, causing an entire row of them to collapse in your wake.

As you recover, you see a beam of red light exploding towards you, and barely manage to avoid being hit again as you dash and roll out of the way.

You set fire to your fists and rush towards Balor, feeling your blood boil over this entire situation. Another blast comes your way, and you leap over it, letting out a yell and descending on Balor, punching with all of your might at the demon.

His hand comes up to catch your fist, and though it takes him a moment, he manages to halt your bunch, responding with a knee to your gut that sends you crashing back into the woods.

You roll out of the way as he fires another blast, but the shockwaves throw you into the air. You do a flip and land in a roll, dashing into the trees and avoiding another blast.

Your anger rises. This creature is once again hunting you like an animal and threatening your friends. Kaya and Kasai are both unconscious, and may soon be dead if you don't stop this monster. And, no matter what you throw at Balor, you can't seem to win.

You dodge yet another blast, one that collapses a dozen trees and sends forest creatures screaming for cover. You're running out of options, so it's time to do something a little bit crazy.

You begin to rush towards Balor again, diving out of the way of another blast and rolling forward before leaping to avoid another. A third blast catches you as you descend, sending you screaming back into the woods as agony once more shoots through your body.

You break through another tree as you fall, and barely manage to get up in time to avoid Balor's next blast, still being thrown forward by the shockwaves and falling on your face. Looking up, you see the demon approaching, eye glowing yet again.

You get back up, dashing to avoid his next attack.

"Come, human," Balor calls. "Where is the vigor you fought with before? The passion that drove you in previous fights? Is this how you'll die? Like a pathetic, frightened animal?"

You duck beneath a blast that eradicates a group of trees behind you.

"Fitting for a worm like you."

Yelling, you rush towards Balor again, ducking beneath another blast and getting thrown forward with the shockwaves. You land and roll beneath another blast before rushing and quickly closing the distance between the two of you.

You take aim, pointing your finger at his eye, which begins to glow red. Then, ducking beneath his attack, you let the shockwaves throw you forward and slam your fist into his gut.

Balor gasps in surprise and hunches over, giving you the chance to throw an uppercut with your other hand. Unfortunately, that's all you're able to do before Balor brings his fist into your chest with enough force to make you spit blood.

The demon grabs you by the throat and lifts you into the air, turning and throwing you towards the others, of whom only Kara is still conscious.

"What are you two whispering about?" Balor asks, stopping a few feet away. "Some last, futile plan? A tearful goodbye? If you all wish to die together, I'm glad to oblige you."

"You need to decide now," Kara insists. "What's it going to be?"

You guys are going to blow your precious escape time on having her tell you the plan which will probably kill us.

So does Kara have any spirit energy left that she can use and won't kill her for something similar to how Yusuke and Kuwabara handled Toguro the first time. Where we get Kara to launch us with her spirit gun while we rush Balor and catching him off guard while we launch our own spirit gun with the concentration ring at his eye and killing him.

"You have to put every last bit of yourself into this," Kara explains. "Find something that you're willing to die for, and give everything for it. When you make your next move, hold absolutely nothing of yourself back, don't worry about living or dying, just focus on giving everything."

You do have something you're willing to die for. If Balor wins this battle, both Kasai and Kaya will die. And, you find that you value their lives more than your own.

You push yourself back to your feet, taking a step between the others and Balor.

"Hmph, you don't learn, do you?" Balor asks. "Or do you simply wish to die on your feet?"

You gather everything you have left, all of your Spirit Energy, and everything else. You become surrounded in a blue glow like Kara did before, feeling an incredible amount of power, but also a sensation of being a flame slowly dying.

"Then you will have your wish," Balor announces, his eye glowing red.

You raise your left hand and point your index finger at Balor's eye just as he unleashes his attack.

"SPIRIT GUN!"

A blast of Spirit Energy explodes from your fingertip, colliding with Balor's blast and pushing against it. You can feel yourself fading fast, but continue to give everything you have, slowly pushing Balor's blast back towards him.

"What? No! You can't be this powerful!" Balor insists even as his death looms before him. "YOU CAN'T BE!"

With one final push, you overpower Balor, and your Spirit Gun strikes him right in his massive eye, burning it away and shooting right through his head.

As you collapse and your vision fades, the last thing you see if Balor falling back, dead before he hits the ground.

Kara watches as you fall forward, overcome with shock at what's just happened.

She wasn't expecting her plan to work, even if she'd believed there was a small chance. Yet, here it was; you'd done the impossible. Balor lies dead, killed by a human.

Yet, she can tell you're not very far behind. She was afraid something like this would happen. It's a risk even when at peak condition, and you were far from that when you made your last stand.

You don't have long.

Kara actually feels a twinge of sadness as your life fades. Perhaps a bit of regret. She believed you couldn't be trusted, believed you were as bad as one of the demons, but you were willing to sacrifice everything to stop them.

She feels a bit of anger as well. This was supposed to be her mission, yet in the end all she did was watch helplessly while you gave your life for it to succeed. As the anger and regret grow, she makes a decision.

She can't let you die like this.

She uses what little strength she has to crawl towards you, flipping you onto your back and crouching over you. There's a chance she can save you, though she's never attempted it before.

Placing her hands on your chest, she transfers some of her own Life Energy into you. Your body jerks as the energy enters it, and Kara's eyes close as she falls forward onto your chest.

When you wake up, you're in your own bed, Kasai standing in the corner of your room with her arms crossed and her eyes closed. Bruce and Lucy sit close to your bed, and you can hear your father in the kitchen.

You pull yourself out of bed, walk over to Kaya, and give her a hug.

"I'm glad you're okay," you tell her.

Kaya hugs you back. "I'm glad you're okay, too."

You walk over to Kasai and give her a hug. She stiffens a bit, apparently not used to this kind of physical contact.

"I'm glad you're okay," you tell her, letting go and stepping back.

She gives you a small smile. "I'm pleased that you're alive as well."

You turn towards Bruce. "Thanks for protecting the town while I was gone. I knew you could do it. And I bet you'll get even stronger."

Bruce grins. "That's right! One day I'll be able to kick your butt again!"

Giving your friend a smile, you decide to go and look for Kara. You pass the kitchen, where your father is apparently making burgers (you suspect that was Kaya's idea), and leave your apartment. Looking down the hallway, you see Kara leaning against a wall near the stairwell, her eyes closed and her arms crossed.

You walk over to her, and her eyes open as you approach.

The rest of the day is quite pleasant. Everybody is in high Spirits with Balor dead and everyone alive. Lunch is great (Kaya ate four burgers), and everyone spends the day enjoying one another's company.

That evening, Kaya and Kara depart, though you suspect you'll see them again before too long. Lucy and Bruce return to their apartments, and Kasai runs off to wherever it is Kasai goes at night.

When you fall asleep, you find yourself in Koe's throne room, where the demon lord is waiting for you.

"I'm pleased to see that you are alive," he tells you, sincerity in his voice. "For a moment, I feared you'd been killed."

He chuckles. "You're more resilient than even I believed."

"I'm sorry Disanto got away," you tell him.

"As am I," Koe agrees. "He will not be so easy to reach a second time. Still, slaying Balor has allowed you to strike a mighty blow to our enemies."

You depart from Koe's castle, and find yourself in Koenma's office. The infantile ruler sits behind his desk, and Kara leans behind a wall not far from you.

"Welcome," Koenma says pleasantly.

"You kept us waiting for less time than I was expecting," Kara comments. "Your boss didn't have a whole lot to say?"

He leans forward. "So, John, what does Koe want to meet with me about?"

"He had some sort of plan, but he wouldn't say much about it," you inform him.

"Interesting..." Koenma says.

His chair spins away from you, and you hear what sounds like machinery before it turns back towards you. Where a toddler sat seconds ago, there now sits a handsome young man who, for some reason has a pacifier, and "Jr" written on his forehead.

"In that case, I'd better go meet him," the young man says, standing up.

Kara stares at him, wide-eyed and slack-jawed, as he walks past the two of you and out the doors, leaving you and Kara alone in the office.

You're not sure what the big deal is. You do that on a regular basis.

"Lord Koe has decided that you're going to participate in a competition for the mightiest most brutal apparitions to roam the Human World," Kasai continues.

"He wants you to enter the Dark Tournament."
