Following your raid on research ring four there have been no further attacks on your goblin city. Judging by both your new clocks and the lich crystal you have spent the last ten days expanding the learning building into a fully fledged research center for your new researchers and AI to work in. With the building expanded to house the AI, you made sure that the goblins reinforced the entire building to best of current capabilities.

> 99 skeletons gained.

The majority of the stuff that was looted from the raid has been distributed back to the new research facility so that the researchers can continue working. The majority of things that you found were robotic parts, component crystals, a vast quantity of metals and chemicals. The commercial lab turned out to be an unexpected jackpot though. It had slightly more advanced versions of everything you would expect to have in modern life such as: Ovens, refrigerators, cell phones, televisions, gaming consoles and so much more.

Important loot
> Micro rail gun – A miniaturized version of a rail gun. The high velocity of rounds fired from this gun provides increased damage due to the massive kinetic force. (+3 mundane damage)
> *frost knife* - A simple combat knife that has been enchanted to provide additional cold damage and mitigate the damage taken from blocked attacks. (+1 cold damage, 50% damage resistance when blocking an attack)
> Red card – A red security keycard there are no identifying marks. Security clearance in the research rings is classified by color from lowest to highest the clearance levels are: green, yellow, red and black. Black clearance has three levels as well: normal, alpha and omega.
> twelve high capacity electro rounds – Modified electro rounds to inflict greatly increased damage. (+3 electric damage)

(1/3)
>>
(2/3)
With all this the goblins will be able to electrify the city and improve productivity greatly. No more giant bonfires needed when you have electricity and next there will even been indoor plumbing. Some sort of housing complex will need to be built for the group of nearly forty human researchers that now follow you though.

With the AI’s databases and the researchers help you should also be able to improve your manufacturing and weapons, a bunch of goblins with guns are much more effective than goblins with crossbows and daggers.

> You may now designate research

It is going to take a lot of time to update the city and the goblins to use the technology you now have access to. Since you have a long range teleporter you could also invade one of the research rings again. The AI informs you that at current power levels you are incapable of reaching further than that and ring five is currently shielded so you will be unable to teleport in.

Currently available suggested research items

> Djinn lamp – The AI has no records of a specimen this young it is possible that new information regarding the formation of these beings may be revealed. Standard practice is to rub the lamp to awaken the Djinn which binds it in servitude.

> Spell printing – After scanning your mind while you learned spells from the grimoire the AI believes that it is possible to utilize magical energy to create new copies of spells.

> Shrieking blaster – At the cost of possibly destroying the gun it will be possible to replicate the mana conversion process, the sonic element, and possibly the multi shot modification.

> Lich's crystal - At the cost of possibly destroying the crystal more information of how the reanimation magic works can be extracted. Possible applications include a new spell being created, undead control and mass reanimation.

> Fractured crystals – There is no record of these crystals in the AI’s database it doesn’t even know how you were able to find them. The current known function of the crystals is to store a spell for later use.

> Gryphon feather – The AI will be able to learn how to detect magic. Current scans are unreliable and the improved functionally may even been expanded upon later.

> Hypercube – Another object that the AI has no records of. Spatial manipulation experiments have always failed in the past causing a reliance on magical means to achieve such functions.

> Other – At request the AI will attempt to accommodate your wishes and will designate research to fulfill whatever you currently need.

The research rings are actually just five rings. Level one is the largest and five is the smallest.

For the one the goblins helped you build and reinforce is made from quarried black stone. At this point the goblins don't even make things like glass.

> Feather and crystals added to research.

You want to get the goblins more educated so you ask if the researchers or AI can help. The researchers help by providing tons of computers and monitors. They are a bit worried about where it all came from since there definitely wasn’t this much equipment before. With the goblins help you get a new building constructed to have a school of sorts up and running where the goblins will not interfere with important research. The AI is able to interface with all the equipment and creates an automated program to teach the goblins with. It will increase with difficulty the more correct answers they input. You even tried it out yourself and surprised even the AI by easily reaching level fifty thousand before deciding to call it quits.

> New building - improved learning center.

Then you ask around to see what anyone knows about the cleaners and it isn’t much at all. Marissa
, err, Dr. Harrington is the most helpful but still tells you it would be better to ask the AI.

“Ah the ‘Goblin king’ has come with questions about the cleaners.” The AI’s soothing robotic voice sounds out.

“Are you really using those scanners to spy on everything in the city?” You ask the AI.

“Information is required to make sound judgments.” The AI responds.

“I’ll take that as a yes why don’t you use them to help everyone else figure out how I, and the goblins, are scavenging up stuff from pretty much nothing.”

“The process of the goblin’s scavenging is a malfunction of their designed purpose to act as living mana generators. Rather than producing mana they instead cause the spontaneous creation of matter. Theoretically you should be unable to replicate this process, in practice however please continue to do so as more information regarding how this is possible is required.” The AI states. “As this kind of creation ability is usually limited to the few creators of spiritual realms successful replication could be a history defining event.”

(1/3)
>>
(2/3)

> 25, 35

“So are you saying that if I focus hard enough I could will something into existence?” you ask the AI.

“That would be the fundamental implications of such ability.” The AI responds.

You close your eyes and focus hard, the AI complains about inaccurate readings or something. For some reason though you just can’t help but think about why there are no good videogames with guns, bigger guns, and explosions. It’s all this call of duty style casual crap that is way below your level. You just want a fun game that you can play while drunk after missions, or rather dealing with goblins these days.

You feel a pop, not in your body though from in front of you. You open your eyes to see a three liter bottle of vodka and a game called Cabela's big game hunter X, which touts having the biggest guns and explosions in videogame history and the lowest difficulty is impossible mode.

“What exactly are the cleaners? Is it possible to drain their accumulated energy? I watched a giant crab eat one so it can’t be that hard.” You ask next.

“The cleaners are a response to the fleeing goblins falling into the pit. All indicators showed that over time the mass the goblins generate from trash dumped into the pit would eventually expand to overflow and cover the city. The cleaners compress anything they touch and convert it to mana.” The AI drones on. “I will need to research a new method of extracting their mana with current supplies and technology if you desire that. However since you fixed the flaw in the mana reactor designs it would be more efficient to simply build more reactors.”

New research
> Cleaner mana extraction – Extraction of mana from the cleaners was handled by facilities in the city far above. However it is possible to do so with more limited technology if a more efficient process is designed.
>>
(3/3)

Well that was all fascinating but you think that you should work on your control of magic, it all seems easy in theory but you think that it must be more like a muscle more training should help you cast better spells or at least more of them.

You get a nice big tub of water and start a fire to get it boiling hot you then hop inside to meditate underwater as long as you possibly can while the water heats up and you hold your breath.

> 23

You sit and think underwater for nearly four hours ignoring the boiling water all around you. Your mind drifts you can hear whispers at the edge of your mind asking to be let in but too faint to hear more. Focusing on one closer you suddenly smell ozone and hear the crackle of electricity you feel like you grasp the true reality of electricity itself after pondering these feelings. It makes you wonder about the majesty of life how it all happened, which causes another whispering voice to swell and fill you. You see it all, how life began, the process of evolution, it happens again and again through all of time and space. You fill with the beauty and unbridled joy of creation.

>New abilities gained
Electric ki: rank 0
Your meditations on the nature of reality has brought you to understand the truth of electricity. This ability retypes all spells to inflict electric damage in addition to their standard effects. Higher ranks in this ability may have additional effects.

Life connection: rank 0
Your meditations on the nature of reality has brought you to understand the true nature of life and its purpose. This ability doubles the effect of healing spells you cast but halves the effectiveness of spells that bring unlife. Higher ranks in this ability may have additional effects.

Ask for rebreathers to be developed, implants seem a little excessive for that purpose
And vehicle production would be nice

Then, get together a few squads of big goblins so we can go back to the old bonetooth ruins and explore them fully for once. On the way there, lets make a pathway through the swampland and trash for faster travel in the future.
>>
“Ah there you are again.” The AI states when you enter. “Please proceed to the testing area to begin scans for spontaneous matter generation.”

“Actually, how about you invent some rebreathers or something. The implants we have are a bit excessive don’t you think?” You ask the AI.

“So you want to design equipment that is worse than the current solution for the problem?” The AI asks you.

“Damn right. Also what do we need to get started creating vehicles? Riding around on crabs isn’t exactly efficient transportation.”

“Very well I shall direct the goblins in the creation of a facility to construct vehicles.” The AI responds. “I have also taken the liberty of altering the rather poor water treatment boiling tanks to operate with filtration and sterilization systems, pumps will allow for the rapid relocation of water in the future.”

> New building – Manufacturing plant.

New research
> Advanced vehicles– The AI will modify existing designs to be of use to you and the goblins while down in the pit.

> rebreathers – A modification of the implant technology to be used as a separate device externally the AI thinks this is pointless as such devices can be lost or stolen easily.

Then you have the goblins cut a path through the swampy garbage and goop back to the old ruins. The newly exposed black stone is then used to create a pathway large enough for the simple vehicles you can now produce.

With the goblins better gear and increased confidence you are able to quickly determine that the only area of the ruins you have not yet explored is the lake in the basement. The rest of the ruins have already been smashed up by something or someone. You do use the scanning probes to take a picture of the goblin’s history room since the AI tells you that they can do that.

You don’t really feel like fighting a giant fish monster right now so you have the goblins help drop explosives down into the lake of sludge. After the first few hit the surface there is a sudden swarm of activity as fish beasts breech the surface of the water scanning around for whatever it was that dared to disturb them.

> 28

Then there is a roar of explosions. Fish beats chunks and sludge rain down all over the surrounding area. That was probably a bit too much explosives but there is no way anything is alive down there now. A large misshapen body floats on the surface of the sludge pool.

You toss a probe down and wait for the AI to send you the readings.

“No lifeforms remain within the pool. The explosion has also ruptured all the egg sacks of the aquatic creatures.” The AI’s voice chimes through your looted laptop.

Well that was rather anti-climatic, so you send goblins to loot the area you could have missed something before.

>>
>>41957485

Other elements will be harder to obtain and contradictory elements will be next to impossible to obtain. However trying to get these kind of abilities is not the only benefit of training.
>>
You set the goblins to cleaning up the area clearing out garbage and debris from both inside and outside the ruins. You set the scanning probe around for the AI to scan and extrapolate the design of the ruins and then head down to the sludge lake yourself to oversee its draining. The pumps that the AI has designed and taught the goblins to make are quickly draining the lake enabling you to gather stuff that has fallen into the pool of sludge.

>Twenty-two severely damaged fish beast eggs, two thousand fish beast corpses, ten giant fish beast corpses, fifteen probing scanners, one thousand human skeletons, six thousand goblin skulls, one hourglass, thirteen feline pelts, seven large opals, fifty blue steel necklaces, twenty small emeralds, one opulent ferret statue, *one tiny brown dragon scale*, one malachite gem and *one fiery red dragon scale*.

“Not only did you discover still living eggs that were not there before but you also managed to replicate the scanner that was dropped into the lake.” The AI says to you when you finish collecting your loot. “We should continue to study this ability in more depth as well as increase the capacity of our observational equipment.”

Over the next two weeks the goblins repair the ruins to close to the original design with a few modifications to enable human sized persons to freely move around. The sludge lake basement is fully cleared out showing that long ago it was long used to store salvaged goods which the goblins have already taken or the fish beasts destroyed. The holes in the upper area are fixed but the composition and size of the remaining destroyed areas is unknown due to the destruction. At least the repaired areas will stay in good condition for some time.

>22 all eggs healed

With your assistance the medical goblins are able to successfully heal the damaged eggs. The eggs are taken off to a holding tank by the goblins who seem interested in trying to tame the beasts that will eventually hatch.

“Greetings ‘Goblin King’ I have an update on the progress of modernization of the city ready for you.” The AI says rather cheerfully. “With my guidance there is now complete electrification of the city. “I would like to have a reward system implemented for the learning program.” You tell the AI.

“For the goblins the easiest reward is worthless shiny objects however as manufacturing capabilities expand higher levels of program completion will be adjusted to dispense more useful tangible rewards.” The AI responds. “Should we complete the technology to print spells, I will integrate it to the learning system so that smarter users will receive spells as a reward. This should prevent most of the destructive usage of such power.”

“That seems good enough for now, but speaking of research how is it going, need help?” You ask the AI.

With your help the researchers and AI are able to complete the research into the feather, it turns out to be rather simple and the improvements to the AI’s scanning capabilities allows for a breakthrough in examining the structure of the fractured crystals. With proper equipment the AI is confident that replication of the crystals will be possible and newly manufactured crystals will be completely stable.

“You’re pretty smart for a guy who hangs around goblins you know.” Says Dr. Harrington.

“Indeed your help has saved much time in these inquiries.” The AI says. “A full report on their functions will be prepared and delivered to you soon.”

Then you decide to spend time with the giant lizard running the agility course with it to train both yourself and it to become better at mounted combat. The giant lizard is fairly poor at motor control and clumsily tries to make its way through the agility course. But it makes up for it with raw strength, easily able to pull its bulk over the obstacles without any trouble at all. You have to butcher a few crabs to get meat to bribe the lizard to running the course but in the end you think that you and the lizard have learned something.

You task the goblins to expand your system of one road to connect to the Lich’s tomb as well, with your vehicles you will be able to get there and back in just a couple of hours meaning you’ll be able to use the lich’s ritual chamber to increase the effectiveness of raising skeletons.

You also want better scanning capabilities so you tell the AI to look into improving them.

“Advanced scanners how delightfully vague, I’m sure I’ll think of something.” The AI states.

New research added
> ‘Advanced’ scanners – The AI is working on improving sensor technology.

“Good, now tell me about the bottomless hole the goblins found while digging their warren.” You say.

“The bottomless hole? There are no records indicating such a thing all information collected while the probes were contained in the lead box indicate nothing. ” The AI tells you.

“What about the ‘prison’, the researchers said something about that.” You ask the AI.

“The prison is a conspiracy theory requiring the nature of the pit based on rumors spread across image boards. It theorizes that the CEO created the pit to contain some unknown being of immense power. Scans do not indicate any such being present at this time.”

You get some probes and a goblin volunteer to lower down your void hole. You continue until the AI mentions that the probes exit communication range.

> 48 vs middle DC 45

When you pull the rope back up there is no goblin, just the probes secured to the rope.

“How strange, the data sent back from the probes indicated that the goblin was present the entire time completely healthy until it came into the possible range of visual confirmation of its presence.” The AI states.

“Well what happened to it?” You ask.

“Unknown it simply vanished.” The AI responds.

Ask the goblins about any other notable locations in the pit that could be explored and cleared out.
Also, have them build and prepare net launchers to capture the next flying creatures that we come across. Flying mounts will be infinitely useful. In the meantime, have shadowsquads track the movements of flyers to try to find nests where eggs can be liberated.

Train with the shamans to learn some of the magic they can teach us but didnt have time to previously.

You talk with the shamans to ask about other places in the pit that could be important. Most of the shamans didn’t even know about the old Bonetooth ruins. The lich’s tomb seems to be the only other structure any of them know of. Tales from the past talk about a great explosion but you are already at the crab lake that was formed from that.

Then you have the hunting and shadow squads move out to locate the flying beasts. During their hunt you stay at the city to learn as much magic as possible from the shamans.

> 27

They scout the area looking for the flying creatures trying to capture them in nets when they find one. There is minimal success over all since the beasts violently attack even when captured and many manage to kill themselves trying to attack while caught in the nets.

> 30 flying beasts captured

Eight days later the shadow squads finally find an area with more of the beasts than usual and call for you to reinforce them.

> 78 skeletons gained.

Getting to the shadow squads is a mess since the flying beasts swarm all around you greatly hindering your progress.

Then shortly after you make contact with the shadow squads you sense something. The connection to life itself you made while meditation warns you that something is out there waiting.

Waiting for a true challenge.

The ground rumbles.

The flying beasts begin to circle forming a massive living tornado.

A massive creature rises up in the center of the swarm. A countless number of flying beasts drop from its body like shedding scales.

Its eyes focus on you and it howls out its challenge with a thunderous roar.

Also, a railgun with generate more precise amounts of energy, but a nuclear detonation generates far, far more, and it does so even though it is dispersed over a larger area.

Pound for pound, a nuke is the strongest weapon mankind has made up until this point. Conventional technology just can't scale up with nukes properly.

Let me know If I missed something.

>>41962111
At rank 1 it doesn't effect dark gift any more than it does at rank 0. Even at 0 it has the reduction effect.

Also if anyone has five implants that you want, I’ll update the sheet with them. You can always swap them out later with the right facilities don’t worry about getting trapped or something.

I mean, pre-emptive casting immediately before combat starts sounds like a nice way of fucking up everything forever.

>>
>>41963679

>>41964050
>Dark gift
With the effect of life connection dark gift works a bit differently for you. Spoiled below.
In exchange for 25% of the casters life the caster gains +3 unholy damage, +3 DR and becomes hasted. This effect lasts for 1.5 rounds of combat. Your total HP is reduced, damage is not inflicted so regeneration will not recover it.

>Are magic nukes a thing?
The AI has no designs for them, perhaps you could research them though.

>Are these spirit world atoms different than regular world atoms?
The are different. All matter in the spirit worlds is composed of generic spirit particles, materials exist based on belief that they should behave in the manner that they do.

If you can be bothered to login I have an askfm thing setup for questions too.

Thanks for playing!
