For your new technique, think Mega Man-esque charging. If you fire it right as you start, it's a bit weaker than a shot from the Geist Magnum, but depending on how many turns you "charge" it for, it jumps up to stronger than a Geist Magnum, and then at max charge it's stronger than one of your Kamehamehas at full power. It's also Lightning Magic, so it has a chance to stun things if it connects. The downside is that you can't use any other energy attacks while charging, and the charge has an obvious tell to the opponent.
