How was your vacation Som?

You've said your goodbyes, you've mentally prepared yourself as best you could, and you've swallowed any fear lurking in the back of your head, telling you not to do it.

There's no turning back now.

You're in Koe's throneroom once again, occupied only by you and the man himself, who sits on his throne and stares down at you, eating grapes as he mulls over how exactly he wishes to begin your training.

"This is your last opportunity to back out," he tells you. "Once your training begins, you will not be allowed to leave until you have seen it through."

The torches lighting the room dim, and Koe rises from his throne, descending the few stairs to the floor, and slowly approaching. He looks down expectantly, waiting for your answer.

"I'm not backing down," you tell him sternly.

Koe nods. "Very well, but I still doubt you understand what you're getting into."

Without another word, Koe turns and leads you across the room, to a doorway to the left of his throne. Passing through it, you find yourself in another narrow corridor. This one, however, splits off into multiple rooms and hallways. Koe ignores these, and follow the corridor to the end, reaching a doorway leading to a stairway descending into darkness.

Koe steps into the shadows, and you cautiously follow, creating a flickering flame in your palm to light the way. At the bottom of the stairs is, surprise surprise, another hallway. Following it as far as possible, you reach a dead end.

All that stands before you is a large, brick wall. Koe touches the middle brick, then the bricks on each corner of the wall before touching the bricks surrounding the center in a clockwise order.

The wall sinks into the ground, and Koe steps into the room beyond. You follow, and find yourself in a dungeon.

Empty cells fill the room, and a rack sits in its center. Luckily, that's not occupied, as you don't know how you'd take watching someone being stretched to death.

"Welcome, Master," a voice purrs in the shadows.

A woman steps into the light. Her skin is a gorgeous shade of purple, and her hair is a beautiful flowing back. She wears simple chainmail armor and holds a whip in her right hand. While mostly human in appearance, a pair of short horns are visible on her head, and her legs end in cloven hooves.

"Good afternoon, Kaoda," Koe greets pleasantly.

You remain silent, not knowing who this demon is or what purpose she serves, though you imagine she's not a particularly friendly individual, at least not to the people who reside in this dungeon.

"Did you bring me company?" Kaoda coos. "I've been so lonely down here without any guests."

Koe smiles. "I know, but he's not here for your entertainment. This human is going to train under me, and that training begins here."

Kaoda tilts her head to the side, looking over at you with a curious expression. "A human? Why would you train one of those? They're so fragile."

She saunters over to you, giving you a thorough examination. "What makes this one so special?"

"He is Koenma's former Spirit Detective," Koe explains. "And he has demonstrated remarkable potential. I believe that, with the proper training, he can be extremely powerful."

"Is that so?" Kaoda asks, her eyes flashing with mischief. "Well, you've done well bringing him to me. Once I'm through with him, he'll be able to withstand any kind of pain."

"I'm certain you're more than capable of following through with your boast, but that is not what I have in mind," Koe explains.

The demon lord walks to one of the cells and opens the door, motioning for you to step inside.

"When you said I'd be going through Hell, I really wasn't expecting a dungeon," you comment, stepping into the cell. "Something tells me I would have preferred having Kaya threatening me with her oar."

Koe smirks as he closes the door to the cell. He turns his palm upward, and it begins to glow red as his Spirit Energy is called to the surface. The light reaches higher above his palm towards the ceiling.

"Command of your Spirit Energy will be necessary to survive this first test," Koe explains. "Now, do as I am doing."

You raise your right hand above your head, and call on your Spirit Energy, pulling it to the surface and allowing it to rise above your palm.

A rumbling causes you to look up, and you see the ceiling slowly descending towards you. Koe locks the cell, and the ceiling continues to lower, only halting when it touches the light you've produced with your hand.

You feel the weight of the ceiling pushing down on you, and focus on keeping it from reaching you.

"Very good," Koe praises. "Now, you're going to stay like this for the next six hours."

You don't respond, focusing on conserving your energy while also producing enough to keep yourself from being crushed by the ceiling.

"Yes, that's it, focus," Koe tells you. "Failure will mean death."

"It's been a while since we've used that mechanism on anyone," Kaoda comments.

"That's been your choice," Koe reminds her.

"Well, I've never really cared for it," Kaoda tells him. "It's such a quick death."

"Well, then, hope he doesn't die this early into the training," Koe tells her.

The six hours pass by agonizingly slow. Koe leaves after the first few minutes, leaving you alone with Kaoda, who seems to grow bored rather quickly as she watches you struggle.

You remain focused on your task, not letting your attention waver despite the strain this task soon puts on you. By the time six hours has passed, you've collapsed to your knees, become drenched in sweat, and are in considerable pain.

You seem to be under the impression that we were just fighting, or doing something other than hold something up with one arm for the last six hours. I don't know how you arrived at this conclusion, but you're wrong. Holding something up with one arm is actually exactly what we did, for the last six hours, straight, nothing else. Do you understand that this situation doesn't require us needing a free action to talk? Hell, it could take a standard action or more. As long as it took under six hours we could do it.

You push on the ceiling with all of the energy you can muster, slowly, inch by inch, pushing it back into place and keeping it there.

Exhausted, you fall to the ground as Koe watches from just outside of the cell. Despite seeming pleased, he makes no effort to free you.

"Now, you must escape from the cell," he explains. "Since Kaoda has the keys, and won't be sharing, you'll have to break out through force, or just get creative."

You examine the cell, looking for any sort of structural weakness you can exploit. Your energy is nearly depleted, so you hope to use as little as possible during your escape, especially since you don't know if Koe has anything else in store for you once you're out of the cell.

Creating a small flame for light, you look around until you find a few weak spots, then, focusing, you channel fire into your hands and melt through them, causing the door to fall free and allowing you to escape while using relatively little energy. You absorb what little energy you can back into you, though it doesn't help much.

"Hmm...all of that and you still have a bit of energy left," Koe observes. "Well, we can't have that. I believe one final test will be enough for today. You must now escape this room."

He looks over to Kaoda. "You must try and stop him. Prevent his escape until he's unable to move a muscle, or is flat out unconscious."

"Gladly," Kaoda purrs.

"But that is it," Koe warns, sternly. "You are not allowed to kill him."

"Yes, master," Kaoda says in disappointment as Koe leaves the room.

The entrance shuts behind him, leaving you alone with an eager looking female demon.

You drop into a defensive stance, aware that, in your current state, you won't be able to fend off an assault for too long.

"Well, I never got to introduce myself," you tell the female demon. "I'm John, and, if you don't mind me asking, what is this place?"

The demoness doesn't answer, but holds her whip out to her side, smiling deviously as she looks at you.

"You won't put up much of a fight like this," she comments, loosening her grip on the whip. "No need for me to get my hands dirty with something so boring."

"Live Whip, attack!" she shouts, releasing her weapon.

Rather than falling to the floor, the whip hovers in the air, remaining still before striking with lightning speed, catching you on the cheek drawing blood. It stings, but doesn't do too much damage.

"My whip can do all of the work while I sit back and enjoy," Kaoda tells you before falling back to the other side of the room, leaning against the wall as her whip begins to circle around you.

You wait for the whip to strike again, hoping to catch it when it does. Unfortunately, it's too fast, and you receive a painful gash in your left arm for your efforts. You try again, but end up with similar results.

"That won't work, you fool," Kaoda informs you, giggling to herself. "It's much too fast, and has a mind of its own. It will know that you plan on grabbing it, and will make sure that won't happen."

The whip strikes another three times, hitting your face, your chest, and your right leg, making you hiss in pain and fall to one knee. It slowly hovers around you, striking you in the back, causing you to yell out.

You force yourself to stand, continuing to hiss in pain as you struggle back to your feet. The whip continues to strike, reigniting your pain every second as you stumble forward.

"If you're going to beat me, you could at least do it faster," you tell Kaoda.

"Now where's the fun in that?" she asks with a smile.

Gathering what energy you have left, you break into a sprint, heading right for the demon on the far side of the room. Your plan is a simple one; you'll fake an attack on Kaoda, and let her fall victim to her own weapon by leaping out of the way when the whip strikes.

Unfortunately, your plan doesn't work out. Kaoda briefly expresses surprise, then laughs ad her whip wraps around your legs, binding them together, and forcing you to fall forward. You wince as you hit the ground, and Kaoda shakes her head.

"I don't see why Koe is so impressed with you," she comments, staring down at you in confusion. "Sure, you're stronger than most humans, but if you can't even handle my whip, then you're not going to be of much use."

The weapon begins to squirm wildly as Kaoda's eyes widen in shock.

"What do you think you're doing?!" she screams.

The whip tries to unwrap from your legs, but you hold on tight, not letting it escape as your flames slowly begin to burn it away. Kaoda rushes towards you, kicking you in the face with a cloven hoof and making you see stars. But, still you hold on, and soon burn through the whip, which goes still and falls in pieces at your feet.

While Kaoda is distracted and raving over her destroyed whip, you take aim with your left hand, channeling Spirit Energy into your finger, and letting the Concentration Ring amplify it.

"SPIRIT GUN!" you shout, firing a powerful blast of your Spirit Energy at the demon.

She looks over just in time to take the blast full-force, being thrown backwards and crashing into the wall behind her. She slumps to the ground as you collapse to your knees, your head swimming as you struggle to stay awake. As you catch your breath, you watch Kaoda rise to her feet.

She's clearly hurt, but mostly, she's pissed. She stomps towards you, kicking you in the face a second time and sending you sprawling on your back. She stomps on your chest, causing you to scream in pain.

Then, she leans down and wraps her hands around your throat.

When did you get a hand on SOM's notes?

Because I can remember a guy who were Concentrate Spirit Gunned who we could hurt without it.

It's not exactly a be-all end-all technique when used by someone who was already flirting with unconsciousness.
>>
>>41924149
Either way we have no spiritual energy left so fighting back is retarded
>>
>>41924203
And trying to reason with probably the most sadistic demon we have encountered to date, after killing her beloved whip, is also fucking stupid.

Rage easily overrides common sense, whether Koe told her not to kill us or not is irrelevant is she decides we have to die.

Everything is stupid, because this situation is stupid. Now agree to disagree.
>>
>>41924251
Fear of her master probably outranks rage
>>
>>41924343
You'd be very, very surprised.

It could go either way, I don't know.

This is Koe's place, our boss has eyes everywhere in his own domain. Really doubt he isn't watching what is happening right now.
>>
>>41924394
Bruh.

It doesn't matter.

If you get someone angry enough they may try to charge at you from fifty feet away when you have a gun.

They might try to stab you to death in front of the police.

People do crazy shit when they get pissed.
>>
>>41924016
"Now you know why Koe has an interest in me," you squeeze out. "And why he told you not to kill me."

"I don't care what he said," Kaoda growls. "You are going to die!"

"I would have thought that you of all people would have known better than to cross me," a voice booms from nearby.

Kaoda's head snaps towards the entrance to the room, and she quickly scurries off of you, retreating to the far end of the room and staring in pure terror.

"L-Lord Koe, I-" she begins before being cut off and gasping for air.

Koe seems to have materialized out of nowhere, and is holding her up by the throat. Kaoda flails wildly in a vain effort to escape from the grip of her angry master.

"I gave you specific instructions not to kill him," Koe hisses. "You disobeyed me. Give me one good reason not to kill you right now."

"I-I've served you for years!" Kaoda gasps. "I-I-"

"You can be replaced," Koe informs her.

"Please don't kill her," you ask Koe. "Most of it was my fault, since I did burn her whip."

Koe looks over at you in surprise and a bit of irritation, not seeming to understand why you're being merciful to a sadistic demon who just tried to murder you in cold blood. His gaze moves back to Kaoda, who continues to flail and struggle to escape.

Sighing, he releases Kaoda, who falls to the ground, gasping for breath. Koe turns away from her and walks towards the entrance again.

"If you try to harm him again, I will kill you," he vows before looking over at you. "Come, you've completed your training for the day. I'll show you to your quarters."

You struggle back to your feet, and weakly stumble towards the entrance. Koe frowns before coming to your side and helping you along. You get the feeling that he won't make a habit of this, but you're grateful for the help at this moment.

You're lead back up the stairs and into one of the many hallways. Eventually you come to a large doorway that Koe pushes open, revealing your room.

It's quite big, possibly as large as your apartment. A massive bed sit against the far wall, while a desk is set up to your left beside a pair of bookshelves. A bathroom and closet are connected to the room, with entrances close to your bed, and there's even a large punching bag hanging from the ceiling.

"I suggest you get some rest," Koe tells you. "We continue your training tomorrow."

"Thank you for the help," you tell him.

"I could not simply let her kill you," Koe replies. "But, do not expect my help again. If you cannot face your training, it will kill you. I already warned you of this."

You nod. "So, is there a reason why Kaoda freaked out about her whip?"

"She's had that weapon for a very long time, and her "Live Whip" technique imbues it with her own Spiritual Energy," Koe explains. "For these reasons, it was a sentimental object to her. That does not excuse her behavior, and, had you not requested otherwise, I would have killed her for her attempt on your life."

Koe turns and heads for the door. "Now, rest. You have a long day tomorrow."

You climb into bed as Koe departs from the room, falling asleep only to be awoken roughly an hour later by a knock at the door.

"Can I eat first?" you ask, stomach rumbling.

Kasai looks ready to tell you no, but sighs and nods. "Sure, it's probably best that you don't do this on an empty stomach."

You walk over to the desk and open the paper bag, finding a delicious looking burger and fries inside. You take a seat and offer some to Kasai.

"There's plenty," you tell her. "You want some?"

"No, thank you," Kasai answers politely.

"So, are you going to be coming around often?" you ask, taking a bite of the burger. "It'll be nice to have someone else to talk to."

"Yes, I'll be coming to help you train regularly," she answers. "I'll teach you all I can while Koe does the same. When the time's up, you'll hopefully be strong enough to survive."

You hope she's right, because if all of your training is going to be like it was today, it had better pay off.

Why is Kasai best girl?
>>
>>41925471
So how did the fight on Kara and Lawrences side go when Balor sent the hit.
>>
>>41925471
Nice. Now firstly Can we make Half hunan half demon babies.

Can we get a write up of the general opinions of us from Koe and demon lady.

Thirdly how are the others doing.
>>
>>41925471
You find it ironic that John gets along better with the demon world than the spirit world, except Kaya, she's cool.
>>
>>41925506
They fended it off, though Kara did most of the work.

>>41925507
I mean, I guess it's possible. Yusuke exists, after all.

Koe: He did better than I'd expected. He just might be able to make it through my training.

Kaoda: Why? Why did that fool tell Koe to spare me? What does mercy get him?

Lucy is more worried about things now, but is happy to know that you're giving it your all.

Bruce is starting his training, and is determined to get strong enough to be a help.

Your father is worried sick, but proud of you.

Kaya is a bit worried about you and Kara having to work together

Kara is giving training everything she has

You can really only master one element. Training in fire, you're giving up ice, lightning, wind, etc.

>>
>>41926142
What about spiritual based stuff not only fire elemental?

Also what's the drain on our reserves using fire compared to regular spiritual energy at our current level?
>>
>>41926216
Nope, you have to focus and devote yourself to the mastery of one.

>>41926188
That's superheated rock, so Earth.
>>
>>41926188
I think anything fire related is going to end up being in our control the more the training with Kasai progresses.
So we get to eventual make fire bombs, fire shields and barriers, weapons of fire, get to eat fires to restore our spirit energy, full body fire armor covering us, shape shifting fire, etc.
>>
>>41926248
But we can still make lava by heating the ground eventually when we are strong enough and be able to walk and swim in it if we want when our fire endurance is high enough right?
>>
>>41926304
....why would we ever do that though
>>
>>41926304
>>41926344

>>41926246

>>
>>41926344
Tactics in a fight against enemy's that don't have the endurance to survive high heat. Makes them have less room for them to move, easy escape route when need be, etc...
>>

I'll be blunt, that is a totally shitty tactic
>>
Any nonstandard "elements"?
Entropy, order, poison, life, death, etc?
>>
>>41926360
Why can't we get lightning if we have fire? Also if we had gone for Earth would we had been able to eventually learn Metal manipulation?
>>
Could we master the fist of the mortal flame? I doubt we'd ever get the dragon but mastery of the human worlds fire could be in reach.
