Recently: You've been working on training regimes for your Pokemon.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever!

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

You and Robin begin scaling down the mountain, back towards the cabin. With the help of your Pokemon at certain points, you’re making great time.

Even as a participant, your marvel at the synergy. Nibbles helps you down a steep, angled series of rocks. Robin and her Joltik are practically one being, getting around with webs and threads thanks to her small frame and light body. Joltik can’t help her get up much, being so small, but the threads are good enough to provide the perfect swing rope.

You’ve made a training plan for all the Pokemon you have with you. You have no idea what you’ll do about the others since the nearest Pokemon center is a bit of a trip through the jungle, but you might as well try to come up with a plan for training them too.

The tall jungle trees as you get lower provide a nice shade. Vlad would love it out here.

What sort of training will you give him?

>Spend the entire three months training him to be able to use two moves in the time it takes most Pokemon to do one.
>Spend two months training Vlad to use two moves, except they’ll be about half as strong
>Spend only one month learning Vernon’s ability switch, thanks to Vlad’s experience
>Spend the first month teaching Vlad a move that his species can’t normally learn
>Spend three months working on that idea you shared with Robin (basically mimicking certain hold items.)
>Spend two months permanently changing his ability to one his species usually doesn’t have
>Train stats for 1-3 months

Vlad’s speed is top-notch. What you need to do is take advantage of that and train him to be able to do a quick follow up move.

Most Pokemon are trained to follow and order and wait for more commands. It’s the trainer’s job to keep track of the big picture in a battle. But Vlad is so fast he can get more done in half the time.

You’ll want to work on his moves too, but you’re sure you’ll have time after.

Now, what about Raistlin? He’s smart and responsible, and probably the Pokemon you trust the most to make big choices on his own. He’s also become really good at teleporting. He lacks the craftyness and deviousness that some of the others have that can help with a proverbial sucker punch though. You’re sure that if he paid taxes, he’d make sure to have the tax code memorized and file everything in triplicate.

What training should you give him?

>Spend the first month teaching Raistlin a move that his species can’t normally learn
>Spend one month on improving teleport so he can take something or someone else with him when using it
>Spend a month on trying to master Mega-Evolution to be able to use in a pinch
>Spend two months on mega-evolution to make it roughly as reliable as Devon
>Spend one month learning Vernon’s ability switch
>Train stats for 1-3 months
>Spend three months working on that idea you shared with Robin (basically mimicking certain hold items. You’ll probably only have time to learn one)

His movepool is really good already, all he needs is Shadow Ball now. He doesn't need any unique moves, I think.

We can do a bit of damage just by teleporting a pokemon into the sky and letting them drop or teleporting them infront of an attack

Raistlin is smart. And while you’re not exactly similar in most ways, you feel you understand him, and that he really understands you. You can work on mega-evolution, probably just with a lot of talking and exchanging ideas instead of battling.

And his teleport. You’ve been relying on that a lot, and it’s been nothing but helpful. If you two can figure out a way for him to teleport more than just himself, you’ll have a huge advantage. It’d be great off the field too.

You pass by a small lake and your thoughts turn to Destiny. She’s worked very hard, ever since you’ve known her. She knew Outrage before you even caught her. She falls for taunts fairly easily and she needs your approval a little more than others. But she’s a team player and amazingly graceful. You’re pretty sure Aria would get lose and get jealous if they ever had a dance-off.

You think Destiny is a great candidate for Vernon’s ability switching technique. Because you spent extra time with her when she was evolving to get her used to her differing abilities, she should pick it up quicker than most.

You can split the other time between learning a move she can’t normally move for about a month, maybe less if it’s one similar to those she’s already got under her belt, and then split the remaining time on evasion and accuracy and critical hits.

Now. What move would be best? You think long and hard about the possibilities.

You sigh. You’ll think about that later. The cabin is finally in view.

Robin grabs your hand and gives you a quick peck on the cheek.

“You’re getting along with your Gyarados,” you tell her, returning her smile.

She looks surprised. “Yeah! I feel bad about being afraid of it at first. He’s really understanding.” She leans in close. “Don’t let the other Pokemon know, but he’s really sweet and gentle. He gave me a flower.”

You laugh. The mental picture just doesn’t work in your head.

Your thoughts go back to training. Only one Pokemon left. Aria. She’s powerful. Incredibly powerful. It took three of your Pokemon to catch her, and you weren’t holding back.

But you’ve also noticed she doesn’t really apply herself to learning. Because she’s so powerful, she probably hasn’t ever had to push herself. She’ll probably take a bit longer than the others.

>Spend 1.5 months teaching her a move she can’t normally learn
>Spend three months working on that idea you shared with Robin (basically mimicking certain hold items. You’ll probably only have time to learn one)

You and Aria will work on Relic song, stats, and trust.

You and Robin get to the cabin. Wow, you both made amazing time. You thought you’d get back and go directly to sleep, but you’ll get more time than that.

You see Vernon talking with someone else.

“Alright, here are the keys. Take care of it.”

The man catches the keys. “You’re sure about this?”

Vernon sighs. “Yeah. I don’t need it. And it’s too late to go back now. You already hooked the PC up. Just remember, premium only.”

They both stop and look at you and Robin. “Oh. You’re back early.” He looks awkward. He clearly didn’t want you to see this exchange.

You look passed him and see a brand new PC through the open cabin window.

“Wait, Vernon, you can’t sell your car!” You look to the man. “Hey, I’ll pay for it.” The man looks at you with a skeptical eye. “No really, how much is it? I’m good for it.”

Vernon tries to stop you. The man laughs. “That’s really sweet, but there’s no way you have enough.” He quotes you the price.

Wow. Okay. That’s pretty much all of your current money.

“Kat, don’t. I don’t want the car anymore.” You can tell my Vernon’s posture that that’s not entirely true, but it’s not totally a lie either. “Besides, this guy owes me a favor. I’m sure he wants to get that settled.”

The man nods. “Don’t let this old lecher fool you. He likes to hold these things over your head, but he’s happy to help you out.”

Vernon takes you aside. “Kat. Really. The car ain’t a big deal. I don’t need it.” He leans on his cane. “It’s an old piece of junk.”

It’s a beautiful machine. You don’t know the first thing about cars, but you know that thing belongs on the cover of a magazine.

He smiles. “It ain’t just for you. Maybe I want to start my own Pokemon center. It’s a high traffic area here, and I know I’d look great in one of them dresses.” He laughs hard at his own joke. “But really. I can do more with it than that damned car anyway. I’ll miss it, but it’s somethin’ I need to let go of.”

You give him a quick hug and let him get on with it. The man drives off in Vernon’s former car, but waits until he’s nearly out of sight before really burning rubber. You can still hear it though.

Vernon sighs. It’s not a bitter sigh. It’s more like someone who is just remember a lot.

You, Vernon, and Robin, and all your current Pokemon have dinner. You talk about this and that, and your training plans. Vernon seems to approve, even though you’re barely using his unique training. “You’ve got to do what’s best for your Pokemon, and you know better than anyone.” He actually sounds pretty proud.

“About the car... Are you sure I can’t do anything to make it up to you?”

He slurps his soup. “You and Robin strip down and show a lonely old man-”

Robin chokes on her milk before he even finishes his sentence. She keeps insisting she’s fine, but can’t vocalize it easily.

Vernon laughs. “Alright, alright. You can start by doing the dishes.”

You don’t mind that. You used to do them all the time back at the orphanage. It was usually an extra chore given to you as a punishment for something you got up to. A sink makes it a million times easier than doing them while traveling anyway. You wash the dishes and hum by the open window, feeling almost nostalgic.

You hear someone humming along with you and look up. It’s Aria! Floating outside the window and looking incredibly worn out.

“Aria!” Robin yells, looking up from her book.

You both run and and Aria greets you. She must have traveled this whole way by herself! You check her over. Other than looking really tired, she seems fine.

>Hug and pamper her. She’s exhausted, the poor thing!
>Scold her for going off on her own like that! You have to be the bad guy sometimes, but it’s for her own good.
>Warmly greet her, but don’t pamper her. You don’t want to encourage her doing this sort of thing.

Hug her then give a light slap.
Aria a good girl, but this isn't right. She has to understand that we do what we do for a reason. As it stands she could get us in major trouble. We are glad to see her and know she is strong but she can't just go out and do what she wants on a whim.
>>
“Aria! Why did you leave on your own like that? Look at you, what if something happened?”

She harumphs and folds her arms. You get it. She’s used to travelling on her own. You get the feeling that she usually travels in populated areas where people are creative, and probably takes her time instead of rushing through the ilds like she obviously did.

You take a small twig off of her head. “Hey. I know, but I’m serious. You can’t do that!”

She sighs and looks down at the floor. Instead of fighting you, she looks like she feels bad.

“Come on inside,” you open the door. “We’ll get you cleaned up and fed.” You give her small shoulders a little mini-massage. “Just relax on the couch.” You park her down on the couch and turn on the satellite television to some show about idols. You fetch her a juice box, but don’t help her with the straw. You try to keep a serious face as she struggles with it. “You’re not off the hook, but we’ll talk later.”

You head over to the PC. Vernon has been playing with it. “Want to make a call? Take this baby fer a spin.”

You dial up Professor Fir.

He answers after more rings than usual. He’s sweating. “Hey. Umm, I have some bad news.”

“Don’t worry about Aria,” you tell him. “She found me. I know there isn’t really much anyone can do to stop her if she wants to do something.”

He sighs in relief, but he looks pretty surprised too. “She found you? And made it there so quickly?”

You talk about getting her Pokeball. You can use the PC to register her ball as lost or damaged, use switch her to another ball you have. You always wondered how that works. It’s actually pretty easy. You have to send back another Pokeon first, but it all works out. You send back Fel. With the PC here, you’re not very concerned about who you have on hand.

After that’s set, you talk about your training plans to see if the professor can give any advice. He gives you some general tips, and seems excited about examining your Pokemon after.

“I’m probably going to be doing a lot of switching Pokemon. I hope you don’t mind.”

“Please do! As long as I can run some non-intrusive testing.”

You thank him and end the call. Business as usual.

It’s late, but not too late. The real training begins tomorrow.

Aria giggles at something on TV. She sees you looking at her and looks down at the floor.

>Punish her by making her do the rest of the dishes. Let her work it off.
>Punish her by giving her a dirty Pokeball to replace her old, good looking one. It can be a reminder.

Yes.

Imagine how much the quest could be improved by banging Raistlin. I mean, he could be a surrogate Clair and everything.

You head over to the remaining dishes, then whistle to your Meloetta. “Hey, come on and help me out with these.”

She cautiously flies over. You hand her a dish to dry and point to the drying cloth.

She holds it and wipes it with the cloth. She doesn’t seem happy with her slow progress, so she tries something else. She holds the next wet dish and blows on it. She huffs and puffs and sends it flying out of her grasp and out the window.

She looks up at you. You look to Vernon on the couch. He’s holding back a laugh and slaps his knee.

“It’s fine,” you tell her. “This isn’t something we can take a shortcut on though. You’ve got to dry it one wipe at a time.”

She dutifully dries the next dish with the cloth. Her tongue sticks out as she concentrates on getting every little droplet. She shows it to you proudly when she’s done.

You finish up and pat her on the head. You feel closer to Aria.

[That’s it for tonight. Next thread we’ll be doing a time-skip thing, with votes for various training things that come up for each Pokemon. I'm hoping tomorrow, but can't promise quite yet.]

I think we were also going to teach her agility?

Also, I slept through the thread because my time zone. I wish Gobble would warn when there's a thread two hours in advance so I know when to stay up.
