The Flame that Marched Against The Sea nods again, slowly, holding back the tears. "In that moment... I... I just thought... I thought I had found... I don't know what. It felt right. The Tyrant would die. I would fly again. It made sense, in my head. I don't know what I was thinking."

You don't know what to say. "We really needed your help." Let's start with that.

"I know." She replies, looking... just completely destroyed. "But... I couldn't do anything until it was too late."

You net out a long, deep sigh. The wrecked ruins of the Titan make you feel uncomfortable. Not as much as it did when it was still intact, fortunately. That little voice at the back of your head, that was so strong when you were in your old incarnation's overwrought rooms, is now thankfully silent.

Samiel sits on a broken slab of steel next to you, and looks up to Flame with a bit of sadness in his eyes. It's a bit pathetic to see such a powerful goddess so throughoutly broken. Weakened by thousands of years of imprisonment, denied her true nature and calling, her memory wiped and only just recently and clumsily restored, only to be crushed right away by Necromancy and her will bound to a cursed sword, then immediately released... you can't even imagine the mess that she must have in her head right now.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a lot of allies and friends, and have a powerful Manse under construction.
But Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress built in an ancient, forgotten age, and although this is kept secret, two Deathlords are seeking to obtain it.
The Tyrant of the Doomsday Machine, ghost of your past incarnation, seeked it as a weapon to cut her ties to the Neverborn. But you have persuaded her to try and seek redemption in the eyes of the Sun in other ways, and count her as an unlikely ally.
But now the Silver Prince is coming, to punish her and claim the Titan for himself in the name of Oblivion. And this looks like a battle you won't be able to talk your way out of...

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

Ask about transferring her core and vital systems to the TYrant's Flagship, which will be reworked to fit her. It might be a temporary solution until we can restore the structural integrity of the titan.

What about detaching her power core and command systems from the superstructure of the Titan? Even crippled like this, she could surely still fly a badass Shield Helicarrier style airship. It won't be anywhere near as disgustingly fuckhuge as the Titan, but it could easily still be the size of a small city.

It'd be cool as hell.

And she could fly again.

Let's go with mostly this:
>>Le's leave this behind us. We both survived. No sense thinking about it too hard.
But add a bit of (other): something along the lines of "but I need to be able to rely on you from now on". That might shore up loyalty, and give her some sense of purpose.

Combine with:
>How much do you remember about the First Age? There are things I need to know.

First Age too if we have time actually
>>
"No sense worrying about this now. The fight is over. We won. Let's leave it behind, for now." You pat on her shoulders, trying to cheer her up, or at least distract her.

She looks up to you, and you get the feeling that whatever you'd say to her now will not have much of an impact. She needs time to sort herself out.

So, time to change the subject a bit. "...Do you happen to know where Howler in Darkness ended up after the fight?"

She frowns. "We... couldn't pry it off the Bodhisattva's fingers, even once he passed out from the dragon's breath. So, he still had it clutched in hand when we threw him down that hole." She nods to a large opening wrecked in the metallic floor, going through bulkheads, piping, machinery, armor and rock. Deep below, you see a bright reddish-yellow glow: molten rock, you guess, or maybe metal. You can't even imagine what firing the Light of Judgement underground might have caused.

"...As an side, mind explaining what exactly that thing was?" You ask, to both her and Samiel.

Flame picks up the question. "I used to have a fleet of Thousand-Forged Dragons with me. I think Irene and Valeriana found enough parts lying around to jury-rig something like that. All Thousand-Forged Dragon fueled themselves siphoning Essence from around them, and had an energy-discharge breath weapon. Looks like they fused the two components together to create a device that drains Essence, then releases all at once in a blast." She glances aside to Samiel.

The Dragon-Blooded nods. "It was something... very much thrown together at the last minute. We found Valeriana as she was inspecting the wreck of one of those dragons, and had the idea because the Essence-draining system was still intact. We used it to disable the Bodhisattva's persistent charms and unattune his artifacts, and then hit him right after that."

"Thank Sol it worked." You mumble. Ironically, the Bodhisattva might have saved your life, in a sense. He was between you and the blast.

>She nods to a large opening wrecked in the metallic floor, going through bulkheads, piping, machinery, armor and rock. Deep below, you see a bright reddish-yellow glow: molten rock, you guess, or maybe metal. You can't even imagine what firing the Light of Judgement underground might have caused.
Huh. I wonder if we're going to be seeing some Jadeborn or Dark Brood as a result of that.
>>
You look down the hole again, this time trying to understand exactly the situation down there.

It's hard to tell just how big the cavity that the Light of Judgement blasted underground is, but it's clearly vast. It seems roughly teardrop-shaped, with the walls covered in molten rock and slag, and still-liquid magma and metal pooled at the bottom.

The explosion clearly liquefied part of the bottom side of the Titan too, not just the bedrock. As far as you can see, the firing mechanism is entirely gone, or, at least, there's just an empty hole where it should logically be.

Your blessings protect your body from all harm suffered from natural hazards, but you're not sure how much this counts as "natural" exactly. It shouldn't be any different from normally molten rock, and you would swim in Dancing Smoke's lava with no harm even though that wasn't TECHNICALLY a natural volcano, as its heat was fueled by the Titan's essence discharge vent.
So you're reasonably sure you're not going to be hurt, but you can't be 100% sure until you try. On top of that, if you drop down there... how will you climb back up? The walls are slippery and angled in all the wrong ways. Even with your powers and charms, it looks like a hard climb. Maybe not impossible, but definitely hard. And you can't imagine Samiel dropping down a rope. It would burn. Well, maybe if he found a long steel cable..

In any case, you can't see any trace of Howler in Darkness or of the Bodhisattva or anything else. The sword might have sunken to the bottom of the lava pool...

...You also have to wonder, is such a huge empty cavity just below the Titan at risk of cave-in? Just the thought gives you goosebumps.

>Drop down. (p+n)
>Ask Samiel if he can find you a steel wire.
>Ask Flame if she'd be able to fly you back up once you're done.

"It wouldn't be a bad idea to find some way to fill it." She replies, quite calm.

"How?" Samiel seems a bit puzzled by the process.

"You could try asking some Earth elementals." she suggests, unconvincingly. She clearly has no idea herself, or maybe just can't focus her thoughts right now.

"...I'll talk with our sorcerors later." The dragon-blooded replies, with one last glance down that glowing hole.

"You look like you need some time alone." You try and put her at ease wit a smile. "I'll come see you later."

"...Thank you." Is all that she says, after a pause a bit too long.

Samiel stays behind with you, and you're left alone to wander the corridors of the broken Titan for now.

You leap up a few levels, but don't get right out immediately. There's something holding you back.

Like you feel like you still have something to take care of here. Still something to do.

This place manages to make you feel singularly ill at ease. Old bad memories and new bad memories merge and overlap in rather unique ways. Interesting, if only academically. Honestly, you can't wait to be finally out of here. To have the sky once again above you, and your friends and lovers around you.

These dark, narrow, ominous spaces make you feel... so dreadfully lonely.

Why, then, do you have this odd hangup? Why aren't you leaving?

Against your better judgement and each and every one of your instincts, you return to your previous incarnation's rooms. The self-congratulatory golden images in the corridor make your skin crawl, bringing back to memory events and images you try your hardest to block out.

The door is still open, broken, you assume, its complicated automatic lock lost to the decay of time.

And the room beyond is in the same state you left it before: a complete, ancient, wrecked mess, already throughoutly combed by others - probably Dragon-Blooded during the Usurpation? - for artifacts and the likes. You have to wonder how good a job they did...

With a heavy heart, you begin to rummage in the filthy, rotting debris of the room. What must once have been the finest tables, chairs, cupboards, sofas, the most beautiful and luxurious furniture in Creation is now a pile of stinking dust crowding the floor of this once-grand room.

There's some kind of lesson to be learned here, maybe,m but you can't quite put your head to it.

There's what must've once been bits and scraps of paper, but you fail to put together enough to form even a bit as large as your thumb, and the ink is all gone in any case. Glass bits that maybe once belonged to a bottle or ewer, strips of rotting cloth...

The more you rummage the more your memories come back. Memories of power and pride. You begin to put together the little bits and pieces you find, but there's not much.

And every noise you make in this room sounds like the echo of a gunshot.

Weren't you in the right, though? That brat never knew his place. It was his own damn fault for getting in the way, was it not?

He was mortal. You're Exalted. What can you be blamed for?

You toss in the air the little bits of nothing you carefully assembled, frustrated. Nothing useful. Nothing intact. You're wasting time. Whoever was here has been quite throughout. They probably left the gold plates because they were way too heavy to move without specialized equipment (or without someone seriously strong), and were quite obviously not artifact and without any possible hidden secret or such.

You want to get out of here. You don't want to be in here. You feel like the more you stay in here, the more she will come back.

[p+n=7 6 6 10 2 4 = 3 successes]

You hurriedly grab the five plates in the corner and carefully stack them one atop the other in your hands. Straining yourself painfully, you lift the mass of gold above your head and clamber out of the door.

You don't know what you're talking about. We don't have to replicate First Age tech to build an airship, especially if we already have a cannibalized command system and power supply.

>it would just take time and an investment of resources
An exorbitant, impossible amount. Leave the Titan's superstructure behind. Make the useful parts into a new, smaller airship.

No. No, it really isn't. It's barely even hypothetically within, and that's assuming we end up with First Age levels of manpower and resources.

Set your sights lower. The Titan will never fly again. But Flame can.

We have a twilight solar with a talent and passion for engineering and the Titans goddess to help oversee. If we ever manage to get the manufacturing base and material we'd need to repair the Titan and the workforce to do the job then yes it's well within our capabilities. That being said only a moron would think that was happening anytime soon. Call repairing the flame and extremely long term potential project.

I've had some ideas on that. While surfing the ask.fm I noticed this exchange.

>Tokyo-3 >Not cool WORST TASTE
>Evangelion was one of the worst thing to ever happen to the mecha genre. CALL THE COPS I DON'T GIVE A FUCK

And it gave me an idea. Punch a hole somewhere in the island down to the Titan, maybe down through the volcano since it seems like it may be cooling now. Another location might be an option.
Get some of the flight systems either from the Titan or the Dark Omen and use it as a sky crane to lift sections of the titan from underground for assembly. We can use earth magic to form supports for the island above as sections are removed.

We wouldn't be able to pull the entire Titan out like this but enough to assemble a smaller flying fortress. I expect this would take years, but it would depend on how quickly the earth magic could move in rock and how much the Dark Omen could lift.
>>
>>41788047
There is something we could do.
We could repair the Titan to the point of being able to fly again. After all we're solars and repairing is not as hard as making.
But. We should go for the flying Island/City as main plan. Keep the layers of rock and earth and simultaneously repair the titan underneath.
Have a plan B should plan A fail.

In the First Age Solars were not persecuted by the Wyld Hunt.
After getting rid of the Primordials they had lots of time to build all the first age wonders: I doubt we have the resources they had then.

You reach the vast collapsed hole where the necromancer's spell broke into the Titan, from where you could (with difficulty, as you're burdened by the several tons of gold on your shoulders) climb back up and outside.

You hesitate at first. You still feel like there could be done much exploring down here, but you're torn between the need to climb out, and the desire to see more of the Titan...

...oh, well, it's not like it's going to run away anytime soon. Bit by bit, jump after jump, you make your way up to the entrance, the collapsed ruins of Tianna Castle.

And there, when the light of the sun hits the gold plates for the first time in a long, long time, you realize just how beautiful they are.

Your handling knocked the dust and grime off their surface, exposing in full their perfectly polished, expertly carved surfaces. They look like something completely different under real sunlight.

Why didn't that room have access to sunlight? There weren't even any windows, you now realize. The room was buried deep within the Titan... as if to shield it, or hide it, from sunlight.

What he's suggesting wouldn't kill Flame. It would be asking her to come to terms with having lost what she used to have, but life still going on.

It would be very much like talking to a paraplegic or amputee about having to come to terms with their loss and start moving on with their new life.
>>
>>41788248
I'll second this, plus I wanted to see if there was anything behind the ones in display
>>
>>41788082
The problem I see with that plan is that the Titan is literally the only solid part of the island. You can't prop up the earth above because it's just that: earth. No stone, just dirt, sand, and gravel. You'd basicly have to build a roof over the entire Titan to hold everything up, and building a kilometers-wide (and high) underground vault, especially one with no natural stone to work with or build on in any direction and largely below the fucking ocean, would be an involved operation even in the First Age. For us, now? We're about five orders of magnitude short on manpower alone.
>>
>>41788327
No, we should leave it like that as a reminder of the arrogance of our past reincarnation.
>>
>>41788347
Lets wait until we talk with our experts before equating the Titan's superstructure as a lost limb to a paraplegic.
>>
>>41788287
>>41788238
Agreed.

If anything, we can head back down and collect the replacements to melt down.
We don't need those around anyway.
>>
>>41788366
We have the incredible self aggrandizing other inscriptions to act as that reminder. There's no reason to leave the UCS's inscription fucked up.
>>
>>41788366
Our previous incarnation's arrogance was in using the Titan to hurt Creation instead of defending it as it was designed for
>>
>>41788401
I want to smelt those down, I don't think it's a good idea to keep them around.
>>
>>41788347
And if we followed that suggestion, it would be like going up to a paraplegic and saying "I could totally fix your damaged limbs to be as good as new, but it isn't worth my time so I'm giving you prosthetics."
>>
>>41788264
That's a complete false dichotomy.

If anything, it'd be like asking me if I'm ready to go on with my life after I'd already lost the use of my legs to a car accident or something.
>>
>>41788424
We should keep one as a reminder to us and our circle about the hubris of unchecked solars. We melt the rest.

You lift up and angle before your eyes the golden slab bearing the effigy of the Unconquered Sun, and you an't help but marvel at it.

It's beautiful beyond words, doubtlessly the product of an artisan of vast, superhuman skill and inspiration. And doesn't even look like a carving or incision done by rote but without feeling: art like this doesn't happen without some deep emotion to push for it from within. The only mar the plate has, the faint fist imprint on the Unconquered Sun's image, is the only dull point of this marvelous lightshow.

It almost looks like he's about to pop out any moment...

"Hands off."

"Huh?" Startled, you pull back from the plate. Was it His voice? Panicking, you look around before realizing that... no, it sounded different, though not any less harsh... or, rather, actually more...

"I SAID HANDS OFF HIM!" Out of nowhere, a tall figure, bronze-skinned, clad in gold, hair as red as fire or blood, violently takes the massive golden plate out of your hands, to clutch it to her own chest. "YOU SLUT!" She adds. You notice that in the other hand she has... a sword? No, it looks rather like... an overwrought Orichalcum bat?

Now you're really confused. "...I'm sorry?" Wh- where did she pop out of? "Uh, who might you be?"

The woman smiles sarcastically. "Oh, my name's Nysela."

Then she whacks you in the head with the bat.

Nah. As reminders they're completely dependant on context and the knowledge that they were replacements. At face value, they're vanity plates.
I agree we should remove the dent from the UCS's plate. We don't need a punchmark as a reminder: we just need to see the look on his face.

In fact, that could be our Full-First-Age warning system. We'll mount the UCS's image somewhere we personally will have no choice but to see it regularly. If at any point we order it taken down, our friends will know we're slipping.

That hurt like HELL. The force of the blow causes you to drop all the other tables and fall on the ground on top of them.

"...What was that for?!" You growl, trying to stand back up despite the stars spinning around your vision.

"I suppose a full formal introduction is in order." The woman before you stands proudly, as tall as you, and poses, as her full panoply appears: a complex golden key on a chain around her neck, resting between her breasts. A slightly curved, rectangular tower shield of impenetrable bronze. And the bat transforms into a long and straight direlance tipped with pearl-white jade.

She poses in front of you. "I am Nysela, Charioteer of the Daystar, Holder of the Most Upright Pagoda, Bearer of the keys of Chirmirajen, and first secretary to the Unconquered Sun."

"Woah." Alright. You have to admit. You're impressed. "You're a celestial goddess working DIRECTLY with the Unconquered Sun?"

She stands on her tiptoes and her smile is now genuinely smug. "Indeed I am."

"...That must be awesome."

"You have no idea!" She lets go of her spear and shield, which vanish Elsewhere before hitting the ground, and brings her hands up in excitement, almost jumping in place. "Just the other day, like, there was this really rude god visiting the Daystar and he started bossing me around because he thought I was a servant or something, and I wanted to tell him to get lost but I didn't want to make a bad impression on a guest of the Unconquered Sun, but then He notices, and he walks in, like, really close to him, and He glares at him and he says" And then she switches to a deep voice: "I'M SORRY, WERE YOU UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT NYSELA IS YOURS TO ORDER AROUND? "I'm here because I'm mad at you, first of all." Again, the bat. This time the just points it at you, at least.

"Mad at me? Is it because of the fight?" You groan.

"Not quite. I'm here because you're filling the Sun with false hopes. And I'm here to warn you that I'm going to expose you for the fraud that you are."

"...What?" You wonder. "False hopes?"

She brings the bat to rest, without striking thankfully. "The Sun is really an incurable optimist. He's been so bitter for all these thousands of years. Not even angry at you Solars, just... disappointed. You turned your backs on Him. Used His name and His authority for personal reasons. For shit and giggles. Wrecked the world He wanted so hard to protect. So badly that He didn't even step in, He didn't move a muscle when you were wiped out by the Usurpation."

And then she points the bat again.

"And then a little brown tittymonster whore like you pops up and acts nice for a bit while trying to persuade Him that Solars deserve a second chance and that they're not going to fuck everything up forever harder than before." Her eyes are full of thousands of years of repressed anger and spite. "I'm not going to let him fall for this again. I don't want him to suffer again. So, drop the act. Stop lying to him and getting his hopes up only for your inevitable betrayal. He's already suffered enough."

"So... you're saying that he believes in me?" You stammer.

"That adorable idiot?" She groans with an air of despondency. "Hook, line and sinker. I even had to physically restrain Him from going and singing back the Mandate of Heaven." She blushes. "Not that I minded a bit of grappling in the office... He never does anything with me..."

"Wait wait wait." What was that? "THE MANDATE OF HEAVEN?"

Nysela slaps her hands on her mouth, suddenly realizing she just said too much.

You grab her by the shoulders and shake her around. "HE WAS ABOUT TO BRING THE MANDATE BACK AND YOU STOPPED HIM?!"

That's when she brains you again with the bat. "I HAD NO CHOICE!" She shrugs you off. "Think of the damage you people would do if you had free reign in Creation!"

"But I'm on your side!" You complain.

That phrasing seems to suddenly strike a chord in Nysela, as she stops in mid-swing as she was about to hit you again with the bat. "...What do you mean?"

All of them.

In the same way that Eclipse diplomatic immunity mechanically does nothing.

Getting the Mandate of Heaven would send ripples through the entire setting.

Hell, the Immaculate Order would probably schism, in the face of the Unconquered Sun voluntarily giving the Mandate of Heaven to a supposed Anathema.
>>

>Hell, the Immaculate Order would probably schism, in the face of the Unconquered Sun voluntarily giving the Mandate of Heaven to a supposed Anathema.
Doubtful, in theory UCS is the King of Kings and Highest of High, but in practice most of the Realm doesn't give a shit about him, it would effect pretty much every god and spirit and send the Sids on a fucking Frenzy

Entirely incorrect. The entire theological foundation of Anathema as a concept is that they're demons who stole power from the Sun. If the UCS were to give the Mandate to a Solar, that would be a fucking game-changer.

Mind you, there would be many who would cling to their old beliefs. It would be a schism, not a collapse.

But suddenly you'd have Orthodox and Reform Immaculates in direct opposition to each other.
>>
>>41789370
The bronze faction would be frothing at the mouth but they'd have their hands completely tied if the mandate was restored.

It's one thing to move against the solars when the mandate has been removed and the UCS has turned his back on them for their crimes, it's another thing entirely to murder them when they have the full backing of the Most High.

"...We just want to see him smile again, right?"

She pulls her hand out of yours and slams the bat in your stomach, knocking the air out of you. "That's what *I* want!" She replies. "But you're just going to disappoint him more. You might have taken out a Deathlord, but it was just a fluke. In a hundred years or so, you're not going to care about anything other than your shitty harem."

"Now you take that back." You threaten her, catching back your breath. "My harem is awesome and you know it. Besides, it doesn't have anything to do with my loyalty to the Unconquered Sun."

She seems like she's trying to recall an event in which you put your own personal pleasure before the Unconquered Sun, but draws a blank. "...In any case, even if not in a hundred years, then in a thousand, or two or five."

You can't even imagine that much time.

"By then, you'll have gone completely baby-eating evil like you already did, broken the Sun's heart again, and gotten way too powerful to stop with anything that isn't a new Usurpation and a new wrecking and diminishing of the world. And maybe this time there isn't going to be anything left."

"It wasn't me." You motion at the fist imprint on the Sun's icon. Not meaning literally that, of course, but as a sign of a bigger problem.

"It WILL be you. It happened once, it'll happen again." Nysela snarls at you.

"It won't." You reply, instinctively.

"Why not." She crosses her arms, aggressive, spiteful.

"It's alright to hope." You whisper at her. "It's alright to believe. I won't betray you."

I thought they were talking about Whispers?
>>
"Do you really think you can do it?" She replies, angrily. "Save the world single-handedly? Save the Solars from themselves? Protect Creation? Regain the Mandate by true virtue? Win the Sun's Smile back?"

"You said that there's a lot of bad Solars out there." You try to calm her down. "...I don't doubt that. Maybe I was just lucky, but I think I got some of the best here. And I think that with everyone's help, we can do it."

"I don't think you can." She smothers your enthusiasm. "I think that if anyone in Creation, out of all the Solars, can do it, that'd be you. But I still don't think you can." Again, the bat is pointed threateningly at your face. "AND THAT'S WHY."

"What."

"That's why I'm going to TRAIN the heck out of you."

"What?"

"I'll give you some time to sort out your mess here, and I have to take care of a few things on my end as well" She continues. "I'll come and pick you and the others up on the first of Ascending Fire. Have your bags packed by then because after that's off to Nysela's Summer Training Camp."

"What."

"Later, then?"

You grab her hair and nearly yank her head off her neck. "Alright, no. Hang on a sec. Nysela?"

"...What?" She turns, furious. "Wasn't I clear enough? I'm giving you idiots and failures a chance to be tutored by-"

"...No, I mean, leave that icon here."

"...Can't I tak-"

"NO."

Yeah but that can be rationalized as just that, dark impulses.

There's nothing there to assume a deeper and more entrenched problem.

It's gonna take some serious fuckups and introspection to figure out IC that there's some deeper problem than just Solars going mad with nigh unlimited power.

>"Voices that made you blind and deaf, voices that made you ruin everything. Even if you didn't hear them."

>Tia slowly steps back.

Literally, that thread was all about pointing out the Great Curse. Reread it. There's a reason there was a shit storm.
>>
>>41790207
No, they were talking about the Great Curse, or at least seem to believe that the Whispers happen to Solars but in a more subtle fashion. And, to prove a point, we got Great Curse'd into ignoring them at first, and then had to admit we do things we don't mean to. Reread the fucking thread.
>>
>>41789913
Not IC, Maka doesn't know of the Curse itself
>>
>>41790332
So then it comes back to what I originally said, we have an inkling at best that there's some bad shit being subconsciously directed our way.

That still does not equal full knowledge of the Curse.
>>
>>41790334
Yes, she does. She doesn't know the specifics, but she does know a supernatural force is messing with her actions and due to the Tyrant and her Abyssals believes the Neverborn were responsible for it.
>>
>>41790334
>Maka doesn't know of the Curse itself
She's somewhat aware of it. She just doesn't know its cause or specific effects, save that there's something fucking with her judgement. It's why she asked her family to keep an eye on her.
>>
>>41790332
They just thought the whispers could reach the Solars somehow, but it's not the same thing. The curse is not an outside influence, it's an integral part of the exalt. There are no voices.
>>

>>

That was just because a momentary lack of self control. Happens to everyone.
>>
>>41790356
And? She doesn't know the specifics, but she knows a supernatural force sometimes controls her actions and that it's happened to other people. That's more then anyone else knows, and that's enough. >>
Does the Great Curse mean that the Solars are basically fucked even if they manage to save the world for a second golden age?
>>
>>41790399
That's dumb. We should pick it up just to have it. You don't pick it up right before a big fight you see coming, you pick it up as early as possible, and then forget you even have it until it saves your ass.

We need to repurchase it immediately, then move back on to anything else.

>>41790395
The increase in cost is the cumulative cost. Once we've used it twice, we've lost 16 XP on that alone. That's huge.
>>
>>41790392
No it's not a stretch to ponder that, but IC we haven't done that.

So IC we only have an inkling about the Curse and from the context of our chit chat with the Abyssals we think it's an external force acting on us.

Maybe we can go down that rabbit hole as time goes by and really dig into the reasons why Exalted go crazy but until then we can't say we know anything about the Curse.

>>41790426
If the Solars save the world and create a second Solar Deliberative without tackling the curse then yes, the world is fucked. It'll chug along for however long but at some point the Solars will lose their minds again and destroy everything.

I think Nysela's thinking is along the lines "power corrupts".

In the First Age everything the solars did was done with the tacit approval of the UCS, no matter how cruel. Nysela saw how the Solars had become brutally insane but she doesn't think it's the Curse, she think's it's just too much power getting to their heads and making them forget the lessons and inspiration of the UCS.
>>
>>41790457

Anyway:
SHOCKWAVE FIST TECHNIQUE: (1B) An unarmed attack can be carried out at a range of [Phys+Dawn]x10 meters.
DRAGON COIL TECHNIQUE: (3B) If attack is succesful, enemy is grabbed. Every turn there's a [Phys+Dawn] contested roll to break free. If you're in control, you can either crush them (using the contested roll as your attack roll) and keep them held, or throw them (double successes).
HEAVENLY GUARDIAN DEFENSE (3B): One parriable attack you are aware of is perfectly defended against.
REGIMENT-SLAYING STRIKE: (3B) Allows you to attack an entire crowd, mob or military unit with one attack.

HEART-COMPELLING METHOD: (upgrades Inspired Performance Style: on top of its effect, all social attacks have 1 automatic success).
TERRIFYING GLORIOUS PRESENCE: (upgrades Majestic Radiant Presence: on top of its effect, all social attacks have 1 automatic success).
ROSE-LIPPED SEDUCTION STYLE (2B) Adds +3 to damage of social attacks performed via seduction. Stacks with Husband-Seducing Demon Dance.
TRANSCENDENT HERO'S MEDITATION: (1C) +3d to your Social Defense pool for the scene.
FINAL RAY OF LIGHT (Special) Automatically activates when at 0 Health, and receiving a lethal coup de grace. Immediately restores you back to full Essence and full health. Can only be used once.

SHINING RULER'S BENEVOLENCE: (1C) +3d to politics rolls for the scene (2B): +3d to one politics roll.
MOMENT OF CLARITY: (1C) You can understand any language written or spoken or anything meant to convey meaning or be used as communication. Does not decrypt ciphers or anything specifically designed to be obscure or conceal meaning.
SAGACIOUS READING OF INTENT: (2B) You select a statement you either heard or read, and can discern the true reason that caused its author to utter or write it, and what he intends to gain from it.

Yes, she doesn't, but we have knowledge that a supernatural force sometimes compels us to do thing we don't want and we have confirmation from Nysela that Solars went crazy with their power as time went on. There's enough of circumstantial evidence based on our personal experience, our past memories, Tyrant and her Abyssals' comments, and Nysela's comments that paints a picture that something bad happens eventually when you are a Solar and that there may be an external source to the problem. And given Maka's not super bright, I can see her falling into confirmation bias and justifying what she's seen as a 'curse', and while logically that's not the best method of coming to a conclusion in this instance it's the correct one.

Yes but until we sit down IC and really piece that shit together (I wish we could without there being a shitstorm), all we have is a bunch of circumstantial evidence that may or may not be substantial. Plus only one of them says "You're doing bad shit because something outside of you is making you do it".

The personal experience and past memories just show really bad decision making and regrettable actions, not the smoking gun we'd need to expose the Curse.

Nysela think's it's the Solars going mad with power that maybe humans were never ready to have.

Only Tyrant and the Abyssals actually said that it was a malicious outside force making us do those things.

The god of Exaltation Lytek knows, but thought that he could handle it alone, and when it turned out he couldn't, he still kept it secret because he can be partially blamed for the fall our the first age, and they've been looking for someone to punish for that since the Sidereals broke the Mask.

I'd say Tyrant in this instance is a reputable source given she's from the First Age and dealt directly with the enemies of Creation. It emphasizes how poor of a suggestion it was. If someone's polite and respectful, it implies that your suggestion has merit. When they call it out as a stupid, worthless, trash idea and toss in a 'fuck' or two, it really drives home how idiotic of a suggestion it was in the first place.

It's a matter of denoting whether or not your question was worthy of respect, rather than just whether or not it was a good idea.

Make sense?

Investigate and communicate with people about it? There was a point where the Sids all got together and had a choice of helping the Solars through their shit together or murdering them all, but because the Sids have their own Great Curse to deal with they made the wrong call.

So there's a good chance there's a way to do this right without unnecessary, premeditated death. The latter was what the Usurpation was all about, and that didn't work out great for Creation as a whole
>>
>>41790972
I think it's just rude and childish to do so.

>>
>>41790982
Depends on the person and what their position is. Given Tyrant was working directly with the Neverborn and was Maka's First Age incarnation, her opinion in my mind would hold a lot of weight.

Also, well, this is Maka we're talking about. Easy to trust and take things at face value from her friends.
>>
>>41791031
Well, that makes him more of a rude person who other people might not like very much, if he keeps that up. But since he doesn't care, I suppose that won't bother him.

Plus there's plenty other ways to say it without sounding like an ass, but I won't delve further into the subject. fa/tg/uys and elegan/tg/entlemen are clearly two seperate beings.
>>

I'll grant that the Tyrant's testimony would hold greater weight but it's still a pitfall. What Tyrant basically said to us is that "Every time you do something uncharacteristically bad it's some ancient evil conspiracy making you do bad things"

That's honestly a way bigger stretch compared to the more mundane and more likely explanation of "Person A gets phenomenal cosmic power, abuses it"

Fuck off.

I'm going to ask EF to weigh in about, and see if he thinks it's out of character to make that conclusion based on what we know and who Maka is as a person. If he thinks it isn't, I'm going to accept that it is well within the realm of reason for her to make that deduction.

Case and point.

But I won't take my leave.

Fair enough, this entire discussion is entirely speculative.

Mate, you proposed the scheduled execution of every innocent Celestial Exalt in the setting as a preventative measure.

And then you took a holier-than-thou attitude when he accurately called you a fucking psycho and told you to fuck off because 'oh no, how dare you curse at me.'

He's right. Fuck off. You're not worth polite discussion, because you suggest stupid, evil things, and then get offended when you're called on them.

It's not a stretch because the idea has been introduced. Since you guys agreed that Tyrant is a reputable source and her testimony would have merit, then that means Maka would then have to find a way to disprove that testimony if she wants to come to the logical conclusion that it's person A going on a power trip. Which means she'd have to investigate and come up with evidence to disprove that notion, and because she trusts Tyrant as a source she's less likely to handwave it away with inaccurate information.

As long as there is a dramatic and lewd wrestling match with the Curse, I'm all for its subplot.

Listen, I agree with you - Maka's already been set on the path of awareness of the Curse. But that shit isn't how Maka thinks. She's not a logical person looking to investigate and disprove things, she's an emotional person trying to do what feels right.

That must have been a really good roll on Horizon to Horizon

This is working on the assumption that a person going on a power trip is less believable than the Tyrant's explanation to Maka. Being a noble from Gem Maka will definitely know how people can abuse the fuck out of the power they hold.

This leaves us with two conflicting points of view on the matter.

1.Tyrant is right and the reason Exalted do really bad things is because of some evil external force compelling them.

2. When people are given nigh unlimited power and are completely isolated from common humanity they can do terrible terrible things.

Both of these seem equally reasonable to me. (Assuming Tyrant's testimony is reliable)

I will agree that we're not completely in the dark about the Curse though, we just don't have a very clear picture on what it is IC.

So I did. But I am past that now, I admit it was a bad, an abysmal idea.

But some people can't get over it and get so salty it just spoils the whole discussion.

I want a peaceful discussion, we should keep it classy, without stooping as low as swearing at each other because we disagree. That's not how mature people go about their business.

Have a nice day.
>>
>>41791368
then if you thought it was an abysmal idea why did you introduce it to us? Did you not think that it was bad before hand then? If so, how could you not think it was a bad idea? Lapse in logic?

Nyesla is adorable. Also, sad nobody voted for helping her get laid.

I was dealing with something else off-screen at the time and was distracted.

But when I was called out on it, I noticed it was a terrible suggestion.
>>

I'm sorry if I sounded "holier than though", by the way, it was not my intention. I just want /tg/ to be a little bit frendlier and be a little bit more patient with the more distracted/less informed folk like me.

I never meant to spark a flame war or make anyone mad.

So yeah, have a good time.

Has anyone pointed out that Nysela think we took out a Deathlord?

>ut you're just going to disappoint him more. You might have taken out a Deathlord, but it was just a fluke

We should definitely follow up with her on that. She's one of the few people who could get Sol's ear for a moment and ask to see if the Prince is dead dead.

Maybe if we ask UCS to look into what Tyrant said, he’ll ask Lytek about it.
