Two weeks have passed, and it's time for you to attend your meeting.

You've spent your days training with Bruce and Kasai, the latter of whom really only stopped by from time to time in order to check up on how you were progressing in your ability to create orbs of flame. You have improved considerably in that regard, able to create a fireball in about five seconds rather than two minutes.

Still, Kasai insists that you work to improve even further, and is adamant that the two of you will not continue your training until you've mastered that technique.

Bruce has made some improvement since you first began training him, but he's still nowhere near as strong as you. He's a fair margin weaker than that spider demon you fought in the woods, as far as you can tell. But, to his credit, Bruce keeps at it, fighting hard for every ounce of progress he can make.

Kasai has brought you to the location where the meeting is supposed to take place. Koe thought it best that the two of you go together in the hopes that her demon energy can mask your human energy until the demons Mahou was supposed to meet arrive.

So, the two of you now stand near the woods where you slew the demon a few weeks ago, waiting for more to appear.

>A. Ask Kasai what she plans to do when the other demons arrive

"So, what are you planning to do when they arrive?" you ask Kasai.

"The same thing as you," she answers. "I'll try and get some information. If it comes to a fight, I'll back you up."

You kind of hope it doesn't come a fight. If Koe's warnings are to be believed, your enemy has some powerful demons under his control. There's no telling how powerful the demons he's sending are. If it does come to a fight, there's a very real chance that you'll lose.

So what weapon should we make with the fire? No swords since thats kuwabara's thing.
>>

"Kasai, just how strong are you?" you ask the demon.

"Well...let's see, going by that class system most of Spirit World and Demon World uses, I'd be somewhere in the middle C-Class," she answers. "I think Koe said that right now you're in the upper D-Class, not bad for a human."

"No, I suppose not," a deep voice says from nearby.

You and Kasai look towards the sound, and see three figures approaching. Two of them look somewhat like the demons you saw working for Arthur, though they appear to be armed with large swords for some reason.

The demon in the center, however, is far more intimidating than his two comrades. He towers above you, and the other demons, looking down upon you and Kasai as a bored child would upon insects. He has but one, massive eye in the center of his head, a large, powerful body, horns atop his head that seem to form a crown, arm the size of tree trunks ending in powerful hands, and a pair of gigantic legs that allow him to stand quite tall above everyone else.

"Yes, Upper D-Class is somewhat remarkable for one of your kind," the demon comments, clearly knowing you're human despite your costume. "It would also explain the absence of Mahou. So, after all of this time, it was a human that killed him. Hmph, it seems he was more useless than even I had believed."

His eye shifts to gaze at Kasai. "Though, I suppose with a fire apparition attacking him as well, he had little hope of survival. It's such a shame when demons betray their own kind."

Kasai frowns, saying nothing, but tensing up a bit. If you didn't know any better, you'd say she's afraid of this guy.

"What did you want with Mahou?" you ask the large demon.

"His powers over the dead could have been valuable to us," the demon answers. "But, in the end, he's proven too weak to be an asset."

He takes a step forward, the two armed demons at his side making some space as he slowly walks towards you. Kasai holds her palms at her sides, and jets of flame erupt skyward, her eyes beginning to glow a fiery red as she steps towards the approaching demon.

The large creature looks over at her, frowning. "I hope you're really foolish enough to stand against me, little demon. I'll have fun crushing you into dust."

Kasai scowls, but makes no move to attack the large demon, at least not yet. Smirking, the demon looks over to you.

"You...to kill one such as Mahou, you possess skill rare amongst your kind," he comments. "There might be a place for you in my Lord's army."

"I'm listening," you tell him.

"Good," the demon replies. "The Spirit World has recruited a new Detective, a young human girl. For now, she is nothing, but, she is training under a powerful psychic. Given time, she could become a nuisance to us. Hunt her down, slay her, and you will given a position of honor in my Lord's army. Fail, and someone else will be given that honor."

The demon smiles wickedly. "When they deliver me your heart."

Kasai, whose flames have died down a bit, looks at you somewhat nervously. You're not sure whether she's worried you'll accept the offer, or worried that you'll refuse and be killed by this demon.

"The choice is yours, but, should you refuse, you will be killed," the demon explains.

"I'll do it," you tell the demon.

Kasai stares at you in a mixture of fear and confusion, while the demon in front of you takes a step back, looking at you with an expression that tells you he has every intention of seeing you dead should you fail in your mission.

"Very well," he says. "The girl's name is Kara, and you will find her training under a psychic named Lawrence in the Florida Everglades. Do not fail."

You had a similar feeling when talking to that large demon, whoever he was. He didn't fight you or give any displays of power, but you were sure that he wasn't someone to be taken lightly, especially after he so casually threatened to kill Kasai, who is much stronger than you.

"Should I warn Koenma and Kara about him and what he's planning?" you ask.

"That would be a wise idea," Koe answers. "The two of them are invaluable allies. If Kara is slain now, our chances of victory shall decrease greatly. You still have your mirror, so Koenma should be simple to reach."

"Who was that big demon?" you ask. "And just how strong is he?"

"His name is Balor," Koe answers. "I'm afraid I know relatively little about him, but he commands the majority of our foe's armies. I'd say his strength is somewhere in the range of Middle B-Class. He is not a foe to be taken lightly. In fact, as you long as you can avoid it, do not fight him. If you do, you will surely die."

Well, that's good information to have. Saying goodbye to Koe, and giving a minute for the chill to pass as he departs from your mind, you open up your communication mirror and contact Koenma.

"Do you know anything about him?" you ask.

"I have my ogres searching the archives as we speak," Koenma answers

You hear a door loudly open, and heavy breathing as someone enters Koenma's office.

"Lord Koenma, here's everything we were able to find on Balor!" you hear.

"Perfect timing," Koenma says, leaning forward and taking a look at the information that's been brought to him. "Let's see...he commanded a force of lake demons that terrorized mankind long ago. He has the power to kill people just by looking at them? He looked at you a few times, but you're still standing. Must be some sort of mistake. Anyhow, he's bad news, and apparently pretty important in that demon army."

Her eyes widen, then glow with flames as her body erupts into flames.

"What? He knows?" Koenma asks. "You need to get out of there, now! You can't fight him!"

With a shriek, one of the demons you saw earlier leaps from the roof, screaming and falling to the ground as Kasai blasts it with a torrent of flames.

You hear laughter, and look to see a trio of demons standing at the entrance to the alley. They all seem average in size, but everything else about them is obscured by armor. They wield large swords much like the demons that accompanied Balor before.

They slowly begin stepping towards you and Kasai. You could fly away with Kasai, but if Balor is around, he'd surely see you. You don't know how strong these demons are, either. Fighting them could end badly.

You drop into a defensive stance, and the first demon rushes at you, swinging his sword down to slice you in two.

You jump back, and the sword slams into the ground. Its wielder joins it not long after as you throw a strong kick at his helmeted head. He quickly stands back up, only to be pushed aside by one of his allies, who stabs at your midsection.

You leap to the side, and the demon is treated to a torrent of flame courtesy of Kasai. He screams and falls back as he boils in his own armor. Kasai treats the other two demons to a similar fate, and the two of you rush out of the alleyway. As you run down the street, a booming voice assaults your ears.

"Hear me, human! The time for reckoning has come!" Balor shouts from somewhere nearby.

"We need to get out of here as quickly as possible!" Kasai tells you. "We can't fight him!"

She's right, and you know it, but there's a lot to consider. If you flee on foot, you may have to face other demons. If you retreat into the sky, Balor might catch you. And, if you leave now, he might attack your father and your friends.

"Send Help NOW!"
>>

Tell koe mentally to get your family and friends out of there immediately, and to help you find the optimal route out of there. Parkour across rooftops to avoid street level without losing speed like flying would do.
>>
>>41760600
Gotta do guerilla tactics on any more demons. Take them out quickly and keep moving.
Try not to cry if Balor catches up to us. That's the most important thing.

Do you think Balor's only eye is a Jagan eye or something similar to it?

Probably

You run towards your apartment complex as fast as you possibly can, yelling to both Koe and Koenma at the same time.

"Send help! NOW!"

"Someone's already on their way," Koe assures you. "But, you will still be unable to face Balor. You must escape as quickly as you can!"

"I don't have anyone else to spare!" Koenma tells you, sounding panicked. "Kara's in Florida, and my agents are scattered all over the place!"

You reach the apartment complex and run up to the level where your apartment is, as well as Bruce's. You remember that Lucy is at her tournament today, and her parents went with her.

You reach your apartment and open the door, rushing inside to find your father watching television. He looks over at you, and his eyes go wide. In a panic, he falls off the couch and crawls backward.

You then remember that you're wearing your suit.

>>
I'm glad our suit is actually intimidating to someone...Too bad we almost gave Dad a heart attack.
>>
>>41760977
You rush over to your father, pick him up, sling him over your shoulder, and rush out of the apartment, doing a flying kick at a demon and knocking him into the opposite wall as you exit. You turn and rush towards Bruce's apartment and knock on the door.

It soon opens, and your friend stares at you in confusion, then at your dad, who flails on your back in a panic.

"Bruce, grab your parents and follow me," you instruct.

Your father stops panicking for a moment. "Wait..."

"Dude, why are yo-" Bruce starts, before the roar of a charging demon grabs his attention.

Kasai treats the monster to a face-full of flame, and Bruce immediately runs back inside to grab his parents.

"Son, what's going on?" your father asks, trembling a bit.

You set him down, and he stares at you, some fear still lingering, but mostly confusion. "That is you, right?"

"I'll explain later," you promise, looking over to Kasai. "Are any more demons coming?"

"Yes..." she answers, fear creeping into her voice.

You see half a dozen more of the demons from before coming rushing down the hall, but it takes you a moment to realize why she suddenly sounds so afraid.

You feel a large energy slowly approaching, just outside the complex and getting closer. It's enough to make your blood run cold, and you can feel terror begin to grip you just as it is obviously gripping Kasai.

"W-what are those things?" your father asks, pointing at the approaching demons.

Apparently this species can be seen by normal humans.

You don't answer him, but you and Kasai both prepare to fight, aware that you have to be as quick as you possibly can if you want to have even the slightest chance of escaping alive.

Balor is coming, and if he catches you, you're doomed.

>To be continued

Alright guys, that's it for tonight. Next update will be tomorrow, or, if not, the earliest possible date for a new thread is the following Sunday. Follow me @qmdralo to see when threads are up.

I'll stick around to chat/answer questions for a while.
>>
>>41761701
So is Balor sending hit men at Kara as we deal with him and his goon squad at the moment?
>>
>>41761701
well shit....were ginyu squad levels of shit arent we
>>
>>41761735
Yes, but right now his focus is on you.
>>
Well. This is a fine pickle.
>>
>>41761740
Yeah, if Balor catches you, at least one person is going to die. No ifs ands or buts, he is so far above you all that it's not even a fight.

>>41761748
Yep.
>>
>>41761744
How is Koe's reinforcements coming along, are they almost here?
>>
>>41761775
It's been like two minutes, they're coming as fast as they can. It won't make a difference against Balor, though.
>>
>>41761760

Our only hope is to somehow pull Balor into Koe's realm physically.

How much would that poison Mahou hurt him?
>>
>>41761796
>Until Koe himself pops up and punches Balor in the dick!

GET FUCKED!

YEAAAHHHHH!!!!

I'm not masking my fear at all.
>>
>>41761803
Mahou made* I wanna inject that right in his big stupid eye. So he'll see it coming.
>>
>>41761803
Very little.

>>41761818
I know.
>>
So why was him figuring shit out pretty much always going to happen
Did you really feel like railroadin
>>
>>41761837
Can we ever get as strong as Koe?
>>
>>41761853
No. And his eye sees all.

>>41761855
Possibly.
>>
>>41761853
I think us actually speaking aloud and not keeping up the charade fucked us.
>>
>>41761876
Lets be real honest here
There was no possible way to actually lie to him
So yeah it was railroaded
>>
>>41761900
You did lie to him, but then immediately went and told two people that you lied to him.

>>41761876
Pretty much
>>
>>41761914
So is Balor going to have laser eyes like in his lore?
>>
>>41761948
That would be telling.
>>
>>41761914
Hurm.
Shoulda played the bad guy longer...though Kasai probably would have attacked us for doing it.
>>
>>41761914
The thing is that we never could get away with faking her death or whatever. Because, as you said, he sees all. Infiltrating the lords group would have been impossible no matter what was done, unless we actually killed the girl.
Which is shitty, because that would have been a pretty cool thing to do, mingling with foes and playing the most dangerous spy game ever.
>>
>>41762004
Kasai's less likely to attack you than you think.

>>41762007
His eye sees all when he wants to, basically. He was watching you after you left to see if you were really going to try to do what he asked of you. Had he seen something that convinced him you would try to kill Kara, he would have turned his focus to something else at least for a time.

I mean, you guys had no way of knowing about his powers, and, in character, you still don't, it's just bad luck.
>>
>>41762004
Not like he can hear us in our dreams, since that is the most secure place
>>
>>41762032
>inb4 it was "selective railroading"
>>
>>41762043
The most secure, but that does not guarantee anything.
Mind/memory reading also exists.
>>
>>41762056
lel
>>
>>41762032

>>
>>41762085
Are we gonna miraculously unleash our secret unawoken power? Did our Dad happen to sleep with a super powerful kyuubi and that's why we can control fire?
>>
>>41762172
>implying our father isn't secretly Koe, and he is just acting to see how we react

I already know, SOM, step up your game up.
>>
>>41762164
He won't be stopped by a light in his eyes.

>>41762172
If Balor catches you, someone is going to die. Don't count on some deus ex machina shit to save you. And no.
>>
>>41762222
We should have kept the spear, that was guaranteed to have worked
>>
>>41762222
Quads confirm, Balor isn't screwing around.

Would a burning abandon building falling on him be enough to kill him or at least slow him down?
>>
>>41762253
That didn't stop Toguro.
>>
>>41762250
It would have probably made you stronger by this point.

>>41762253
Slow him down? It would buy you a few seconds. Kill him? Hell no.
>>
>>41762290
What if we drop a neutron star on him?

Cause I know a guy, who knows a guy, who has a friend who knows a dude who know a guy, who works for a guy, who knows a guy, who knows how to cause one to pop up here on urf.
>>
>>41762318

>>
>>41762318

>>41762338

we have our plan.

>>
>>41762349
Would solve that darkness problem in a jiffy.

>You were wrong! Its the light that will overwhelm us!

>We get sent straight to the worst hell by Koenma.
>>
>>41762349
So can we cover stuff in fire and form it into a ball, like make a fire grenade by enveloping small pieces of metal inside a fire ball, like a meat bun.
>>
>>41762290
Spear to the eye is his original cause of death. 100% would have killed him, it's like mythological physics
>>
>>41762438
So a rusty pipe on fire is close enough, right?
>>
>>41762438
Then we need to make a Spirit Spear...thats on fire.
>>
>>41762448
Gonna get all Lugh up in his shit
>>
>>41762471
We could even start naming attacks after Lugh's stuff.
