You are Lieutenant Commander Sonali Vasusena, N7, Leader of Alliance Special Forces Team Epsilon and Certified Badass. Currently, you're aboard the SSV Trenton, a Normandy-Class Frigate that is taking to Cascora, a Pirate Space Station on the edge of the Terminus. Your Mission: Blow It Up.

A few fingerstrokes brings up a cross section of the Space Station. It’s rather large for a Pirate Construction, approaching a little over 9 klicks in diameter. Both ramshackle and well built, it incorporates a large variety of parts and styles that have been sturdily affixed together. A ring for docking spacecraft orbits the central hub, connected by multiple tethers. Inside the central hub are a variety of honey-combed sections that provide the station with internal support and living space.

“So,” Takeo, the Slayer, says, crossing his arms over his armored chest. “How exactly are we supposed to take it out?”

“Intel says that because of the ‘unique’ way the station was constructed, it relies on a series of Eezo cores spread out on a network to provide power and gravity.” You say, zooming in on a chaotic lattice of blue lines criss-crossing the plans. “The result is that if one of the nodes goes offline, the other will pick up the slack. Extremely hard to perform maintenance on, but also quite robust.”

“Then the cores are our targets?” Inari, the Operative, asks. “Didn’t you just get done telling us that the grid was extremely difficult to take down?”

“Yes.” You say, as you highlight different sections of the map. “Which is why our actual targets are these control rooms. There’s six of them but we would only need to sabotage these three” you highlight the areas in question “in order to have the station tear itself apart.”

“Sabotage how?” Aidan, the Shock Trooper, asks, frowning at the hologram.

“Ideally, we’d be hacking the systems and setting them to overload. But in the event that doesn’t work out, we’d blow the controls up in order to shut the cores down.”

“What about civilians?” Leo, the Agent, asks quietly.

“There aren’t any.” You answer grimly. “Every person on that station is a pirate or some kind of criminal.”

“No slaves?”

You snort, pulling up the next section of the briefing. “Funny you should ask. The so-called Lord of Cascora, Dera Gorrot, despises slavers and won’t let them or their ‘cargo’ onto the station.” A picture of a Turian with reddish facial tattoos hovers above your Omni-tool. “He also hates humans and sponsors raids on our colonies.”

Leo nods, but his expression remains dark.

Sighing, you bring up the final part of the briefing, the actual operation itself. “We’ll be splitting into three teams and inserting via EVA to these points on the station’s hull.” Three points are highlighted in red. “From there, we’ll be using maintenance tunnels to make our way to the control rooms.” Said tunnels are highlighted in blue and a path is traced through them to the control rooms. “The tunnels won’t take us all the way to the targets, so we’ll have to exit and make our way via the actual internals of the station. The control rooms are guarded primarily by mechs and automated security systems, but we can sneak past those fairly easily. There are several technicians manning the controls themselves, but they shouldn’t be a problem. If we’re detected though, you can expect more guards to show up in minutes. Once we’re in the room, it’s a matter of hacking the systems or setting explosives. Exfiltration will proceed along the same route that we entered. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be in and out before they notice.”

“And if things don’t go according to plan?” Aidan asks.

You smile, “Then we improvise.”

“Sona…” Leo chides, his expression slightly amused but his tone disapproving.

You sigh, “Fine. The main criteria here is to sabotage those rooms by any means necessary. Extraction will be the easy part. Maintenance tunnels, garbage chutes, hell, just blow a hole in the station and get sucked out. The Trenton can pick you up with no real problems.”

You shut the projection off and let your Omni-tool fade away. “Now then, since we’re splitting up, I’ll be assigning teams.”

“Alright then, finish getting prepped.” You turn away to finish looking over your own gear.

You slot the Heavy Barrel over your Vindicator’s barrel and the Stunner Module over your Cobra’s. Double check to make sure they attached properly, you push them to the side. Finished with your guns, you check the time. 1503 Hours. You’ve got a little less than half an hour before you’re in Position to assault Cascora.

Looking around the room, you see that Leo has finished tinkering with his weapons and is instead working on his Platoon Armor. You were a bit surprised that the stealthiest member of your team took one of the heavier armors available to Special Forces, but his background as a trooper in the 7th Frontier Division explained why he took one of the most self-sufficient armor types. Inari has finished suiting up and appears to be running checks on her RIG, judging from the myriad holographic displays that keep popping up. You’d never heard of the RIG before being assigned to Epsilon, but it’s apparently a particularly advanced piece of machinery that Inari is testing out for Alliance R&D.

Aidan is in the process of suiting up, the heavy plates of the Defender armor locking on to his armored undersuit. You weren’t surprised that the Heavy Weapons Specialist would take what amounted to rudimentary Power Armor. Takeo is standing in the center of the Cargo Bay, running through katas with his blade, the helmet of his Slayer BDU already in place. While you don’t see the benefits of coattails on armor, somehow, Takeo manages to make it look stylish.

You’ve got some time to kill. You decide to:

You decide that suiting up is the best course of action at this point. Strapping the breastplate on, you lock the armor plates together, making sure it’s completely sealed with the gauntlets and greaves. The helmet goes on over the top and you slot the rebreather into place and polarize the visor. Your HUD indicates everything is nominal. You collapse your weapons and attach them to the magnetic holders on your back and thighs.

You take a hissing breath. It’s Time.
_

You step off the edge of the Trenton’s airlock, and propel yourself headfirst towards the surface of Cascora. The system’s gas giant dominates the background, its purple hued exterior surprisingly beautiful in the glow of the local star. Turning your attention to the station itself, you execute a flip and land feet first on the metal exterior, your magnetic boots humming softly as they activate. The maintenance access point is a few dozen meters to the “North” of of you. Looking “up”, you see the Trenton fly off silently to the next drop off point.

Drawing your rifle, you trudge towards the maintenance access and quickly hack it, the pitiful security system barely even proving a challenge for your formidable skills. A bit odd you suppose, considering these are some particularly glaring weak points in the station’s defenses but you suppose that some things can get overlooked.

[CONT.]
>>
>>41738408

Entering the maintenance corridor, you feel gravity reassert itself but the lack of airlock indicates the corridor is devoid of atmosphere, a fact confirmed by your sensor suite. The tunnel itself is bare steel with catwalks bolted to the sides and electronics panels embedded in the walls every few meters. You walk down the hallway, noting that despite the exterior ramshackle nature of the of the station, the inside is particularly well cared for. For several minutes, you walk in silence, the only noise you register your own breathing.

You almost jump out of your skin when the voice crackles over the radio. “Epsilon-2 to Epsilon-1, we’ve made it into access point two.”

Taking a deep breath you respond to Leo. “Acknowledged Epsilon-2. Maintain radio silence until you reach the objective.”

Two clicks confirm that he received and acknowledged the order. A few minutes later, Inari calls and notifies you that her team has also made it to their access point.

Rounding a corner, you immediately freeze and pull back. You can see two figures standing on the gantry ahead. On closer inspection, you can see that they’re both Vorcha, wearing rebreathers over their faces and inspecting a sparking panel on the wall.

You point your left hand towards the panel the Vorcha are working on, sending the signal to trigger an Overload. A small sparking orb flies from your Omni-tool and zips between the Vorcha, who are knocked off their feet as the panel explodes. Due to the lack of atmosphere, the energy travels along the path of least resistance: the metal surrounding it. Electricity courses through the metal of the gantry, shocking the two silently screaming Vorcha again and again until the entire device burns out. The hapless aliens are slumped on the catwalk, unmoving. You note that their rebreathers have cracked. It’s quite likely they’ll suffocate soon, if the exploding panel didn’t kill them. You also note that the two of them are carrying badly fried keycards, likely for accessing the rest of the maintenance system.

Carefully creeping down the gantry, you step around them, taking the time to ensure you won’t be electrocuted yourself. Several minutes of walking later, you finally make it to the Interior Access Hatch.

You hack the door, which slides open with a small grinding sound, revealing an airlock on the inside. Stepping inside, you wait for the chamber to carry out its decontamination procedure and the other door to open, checking the station map in the meantime to determine where exactly you are in relation to the First Control Room. Judging from the positioning, itt’s approximately two hundred meters below you and another thirty to the “West”. It looks like the quickest way there is at a small bank of elevators twenty meters to your “East”. There’s also a series of Staircases throughout the area, and a ventilation system.

You’re still mulling it over when the door opens. Leaning against the wall on the other side stands an armed Turian in combat armor. A Turian who has just noticed you.

You react nearly instantaneously, throwing a hand out and slamming the Turian against the wall he’s leaning on. He bounces off it with a dull CLANG and floats toward you within the Throw field. Extending your omni-tool, you slam it into his throat and drag him back into the airlock. The field surrounding him dissipates at your command, allowing the guard to fall to the ground and bleed out in a pool of blue blood.

Stepping out of the airlock you take a look around. It appears that the Maintenance Access is in a little hallway down the side from the main thoroughfare. Thankfully, the hall is isolated enough that no one would have noticed your little tussle with the Turian. You bring the map up on your Omni-tool again, noting the three methods by which you can get to the Control Room.

The Elevators are the fastest and most direct, but they also run through the most public areas, where a large number of people who could see you are. It’s very possible that you could just slip through the crowd unnoticed, as with the N7 Emblem on your armor hidden it appears as just another hardsuit.

[CONT.]
>>
>>41739839

The Stairways are slightly slower, but it looks like they’re mostly deserted in favor of the Elevators. However, stairways are supposedly controlled by the various gangs on the station as checkpoints between territories. You’d have lesser chance of being identified, but more dangerous repercussions if you were.

The Ventilation system is surprisingly large and could definitely accommodate your armored form. However, it’s the very circuitous and likely contains its own security systems to prevent people from doing exactly what you’re planning to do. There’s no chance that you’ll be identified, but you might set off the security system instead.

Walking down the main thoroughfare to the Elevator banks, you take a note of your surroundings. The steel ceiling is low but the lighting is good, not at all like Omega’s perpetual reddish gloom. The particular corridor you’re traveling down is packed with vendors, hawking their wares. You sidestep an overly eager Salarian, and note that there’s an SMGl strapped to his leg.

It was one of the first things you noted when you entered the main area of the station. Everyone on this station is armed. Even if they’re just wearing civilian clothes with no armor of any kind, they’re at least packing a pistol. And that’s not accounting for those who are legitimately armed. You see Station Guards in dark grey armor posted every dozen or so meters, generally armed with Assault Rifles or Shotguns. A few Vorcha in Blood Pack colors pass by, toting shotguns and hissing at passerby. A Batarian Blue Sun recruiter stands at a small kiosk, managing a small line of prospects. Over the PA, you can hear some Batarian News source talking about attacks on Human colonies and how the humans have brought it upon themselves by stealing from the Hegemony. It’s nauseatingly one-sided, but, hey, that’s Batarians for you.

Finally getting to the Elevators, you press a button and wait.

“Hey there sweet-tits, whatcha up to?” A feminine voice says from your left.

Glancing over, you see an Asari in a ridiculously low-cut dress sauntering up to you. Probably a street-walker, judging by the attire.

“Making some people regret their life choices,” You deadpan.

The Asari walks a little closer, swinging her hips in what would probably be a seductive manner if it wasn’t apparent she was drunk or high or something. You can see it from here; dilated pupils, heavy breathing, perspiration, wobbly gait. The poor girl is definitely on something.

“Aren’t we all?” The Asari giggles breathily.

“I’m broke.” You say, affecting a sad tone. “Maybe next Paycheck, sweetcheeks.”

“Aww,” the Asari moans. “That’s too bad. I just wanted someone to take me in from the cold.”

She leans towards you, draping one arm over your shoulders and letting you get a good look down the front of her dress, which would normally just be cleavage, but because of that particularly racy style affords a great deal more.

The Elevator dings and the doors open, disgorging a flood of passengers, and allowing you take the opportunity to slip out of the Asari’s grasp and inside the open doors.

That's a good question.
I'm thinking no, but that social stat is glaring at me.
>>
There was something very odd about that whole encounter. Why did she only approach you? Perhaps she only fancies Asari or female Humans, but you don’t think a prostitute got to be that picky. Not to mention she was draping herself all over you.
On a hunch, you run a quick scan over your armor on your O-tool and immediately get a ping. A small transmitter on the inside of your right shoulder pad. Looking directly at the pad you see a slightly off black piece of Omni-gel adhered to it. A tracking device, and a surprisingly sophisticated one too.

The Elevator is already carrying you to the lower levels, so it’s too late to go back and confront her. But the tracker itself is another issue.

>What to do with it?

You pull the still sticky piece of Omni-Gel off without a problem, but now you’re wondering what you should do with it. It’s probably a trick that a street gang uses to track marks, but it could have really screwed the mission up if they traced you to the Control Room. Looking around, you note that the elevator is fairly deserted, aside from a trio of Turians in combat armor in the corner. Tilting your hand towards, the one closest to you, you wait until he’s otherwise occupied and flick the tracker towards him. It arcs low and adheres to his foot. It’s fortuitous that the elevator opened to your floor a few seconds afterwards and you take the opportunity to leave quickly.

This particular hall is noticeably devoid of foot traffic. Instead, you see cameras in the ceilings and what are probably recessed turret mounts on the walls. Your map indicates that there control room is straight to the West but judging from this hall, the security is going to be tight. Scanning the map again, you note that there’s a ventilation duct that leads into the room itself, as well as a maintenance shaft that runs parallel to the room itself, accessible one level down.

The ventilation system is still likely to be trapped, and it’s likely the maintenance shaft will have a guard posted to it like the other one.

>>
Thinking it over, you realize something: The software to manage the Security system is not in the Control Room itself, it’s managed at a central Security station at the Station’s Core. While breaching the Core is next to impossible right now, you could spoof the connections to the Security Station to make them think that nothing is going on in this area. The connections themselves are accessed in a small service corridor one level above you but in the same Maintenance shaft you could use to infiltrate the Control Room.

But if you screw up, it would set the alarms off and likely bring the brunt of Security down on you.

You turn around and get back on the Elevator, hitting the button for the floor beneath yours.

Thats when you get the feeling of immense killing intent.

“You.” A deep, gravelly voice says from behind you.

You turn around to give the speaker your full attention. It’s a Batarian, wearing a set of worn green Combat Armor and carrying a heavy pistol. He’s not wearing a helmet, which shows off the two cybernetic eyes that have replaced his upper pair. Next to him is an Asari in similar green armor, giving you a hostile look.

“Where’d you get that armor?” The Batarian demands.

"I'm a scavenger.” You coolly reply. “Got lucky on a battlefield, saw the person wearing this collapse, probably from exhaustion, took it off of her and the rest of her gear. Figured it would make me look tougher, less muggings that way. I'm not really interested in selling, but if you give me a good enough number I might consider it."

“Bah,” the Batarian says as he turns away. “Of course you’re just a scavenger. Begone.” The Asari eyes you for a few seconds more before following him.

It’s a good thing your floor was one down, as the elevator arrives there immediately afterwards. You hop off the Elevator and make your way through the once more crowded halls towards the shaft you need. Down a hallway in a particularly disused part of the station is the Maintenance Airlock.

On your way there, you get an incoming message from Leo. “Epsilon-2 to Epsilon-1. We have infiltrated Target 2.”

“Acknowledged.” You mutter, as you survey the hall.

This Particular Access Point has slightly more security than the previous. You count two Turians, both carrying Assault Rifles and wearing combat Armor. One of them is sitting in a chair with his Omni-tool open in front of him, playing some kind of game. The other is leaning next to the door of the airlock, lighting up some kind of cigarette.

The hallway itself is pretty narrow, the walls only 4 or 5 feet apart. The Guards themselves are a little over 30 meters away, judging from your helmet’s rangefinder.

You activate your Cloak module and carefully stalk down the corridor. The Guards are definitely too distracted, one in his game and the other in his thoughts. You activate the Blade on your left arm first, your cloak dissipating in the process, and slash the smoking Guard’s throat, the synth-diamond edge biting through his armor with ease and severing his jugular and spine. He collapses with a gurgling groan, his head attached by a flap. The other Guard jumps to his feet, in time to receive the Omni-Blade on your right hand directly to the face. He falls like a puppet with its strings cut the moment you retract the glowing orange sword.

Opening the inner airlock, you drag the corpses inside to hide them. Sadly, there’s nothing you can do about the streaks of blue blood, but at least they’re much harder to spot.

Your suit seals as the airlock depressurizes, and you step out into the vacuum of the Maintenance tunnel. You begin walking “North” to the ladder which would take you to the Security Lines.

The beeping of an incoming communication startles you slightly as you arrive at the ladder, but you let it through.

“This is Epsilon-3, we have a problem.” Inari’s harried voice says. “We’re caught in a gang fight and it looks like Gorrot deployed his personal troops to clean it up. There’s heavy troopers and mechs and we’re not going to be able to get to the Control room without backup.”

Get to our Room ASAP and have Leo and Takeo cause a distraction or support the others in the mean time.

“Epsilon-1 to Epsilon-2, what’s your status?” You key Leo in.

“Just got into the system.” Leo responds. “Almost done with the actual sabotage.”

“As soon as you are, I need you to pull some of the fire off of Epsilon-3 and 4.” You order. “They won’t make it to the Target without you.”

“On it,” Leo replies. “Do you want a Distraction or actual fire support? There’s a series of storage banks near us that we could attack to draw Garrot’s attention but it may not actually pull forces away from the battle. Alternatively, we could provide direct fire support, but it’d take time to get over there.”

“Actually,” You begin. “Could you get to Target 3 and have Epsilon-5 support 3 and 4?”

“I.. could, yeah.” Leo confirms. “Definitely be faster. I’ve finished the sabotaging the system and I’m heading out now.”

The line cuts.

You key back into Inari’s channel. “Epsilon-3, you have support en route. Don’t bother getting to the target but try to draw the forces away from it so Epsilon-2 can infiltrate it.”

“Acknowledged.” Inari says tersely before the line is cut.

You begin climbing the ladder again, making it to the level above the control room quickly. Running down the gantries, you make it to the security station in a few minutes. Surveying the area, you note that there’s a camera scanning the panels you’d need to access to sabotage the Security Systems.

The security cables are all older fiber optics, likely to increase redundancy in the case of system failure and to prevent hacking. Fortunately, fiber optics can still be interfered with, provided you have the proper tools.

Like a MilSpec Omni-Tool.

You interface your Tool with the cables and filter through the data feeds, isolating the particular feeds you want to interfere with and flash-forging a temporary spoofing module. It’ll hold for about 15 minutes, which is more than enough time to get into the Control Room via the access to the ventilation system nearby. Placing the spoofer on the wires, you make a break for the ladder, sliding down to the level below you, and enter the airlock to the ventilation crossway

It’s very windy, but not enough to unbalance you overmuch. Crawling into the duct that leads to the control room, you freeze for a moment as it creak and groans. The noises subside after a few seconds and you crawl quickly to the Control Room access. Your map guides you true, and you note the deactivated laser tripwires and Barrier Generators that are scattered throughout the ducts.

Finally, you find yourself at the grate that looks down on the Control room. Looking into the room itself, you can see four figures, two Batarians, an Asari and a Vorcha. All are carrying pistols but only appear to be wearing civilian jumpsuits. The room is about ten meters by ten meters, and lined with computer consoles on all sides.

Keying in an Overload on your Omni-Tool, you slam your foot through the grating and plunge down into the room. The engineers react surprisingly quickly for civilians, but your Overload still catches the Asari in her chair, knocking her onto the ground in a screaming, convulsing heap. The Batarians are better off, managing to get out of their chairs before the Throw takes the first one in the torso, flinging him across the room to smack headfirst against one of the monitors, leaving blue-black blood on the screen.

The Vorcha then leaps out of its chair towards you, claws and teeth bared. You halt his attack with an Omni-blade through his chest and a second through his head. Holding the spasming corpse aloft on the ends of your blades for a moment, you spin around and fling it toward the second Batarian who has finally drawn his gun. The Vorcha’s flailing body knocks the four-eyed alien to the ground.

Striding towards the stunned asari, who is recovering from your electrical attack, you quickly slam your Omni-tool through her chest, pinning her to the floor. Yanking it out, you witness her death rattle before turning to deal with the last engineer.

The Batarian has untangled himself from the Vorcha’s corpse, but lost his weapon in the process.
As you approach, he looks up at you with fear in his eyes and begs “No! Please-” before being cut off by your Omni-blade through his neck.

You take a moment to slice off the head of the Vorcha, making sure the bloody thing is dead and check on the unmoving Batarian still held in your Throw Field. Dissipating the field, you watch the corpse fall to the floor, leaking blood from the gash on its head. Its eyes are open and unmoving but you put a blade through its heart to be on the safe side.

With the engineers handled, you open one of the consoles and begin sabotaging the Eezo Cores. Accessing the Core Schedules, you set the computer to increase the ME field flux in fifteen minutes while deactivating the cooling systems in thirty minutes. The computer flashes a warning but you quickly disable them as well. Now, the real trick is to lock the system to prevent it from being accessed in the next thirty minutes.

You fire your shotgun into the consoles several times, ensuring that your changes are permanent. It’s a good thing that these are just access points and the actual computer is under your feet. Checking the time, you find you have 5 minutes before the Security System comes back online.

Contact squadmates while heading towards where the others were in trouble.
>>
Opening the heavy security door, and closing it as you leave, you begin making your way to the closest maintenance shaft that would take you the exterior of the Station. As you do so, you key your squadmates in to your frequency.

“Status report.” You say, as you jog steadily to the airlock.

“Epsilon-2, almost at Target 3.” Leo mutters quickly, tension evident in his voice.

“Epsilon-3, pinned down by heavy troopers in a warehouse.” Inari says over the sound of gunfire. “But managed to convince some of the gangers that we’re on their side.”

“Epsilon-4, Mech hunting!” Aidan yells in glee over the roar of an explosion in the background. “Got one!”

“Epsilon-5, just arrived at the tram station in Goiro Block.” Takeo whispers. “Moving up to support 3 and 4.”

“Acknowledged,” You mutter as you adjust your course for the closest tram station. “Target 1 is taken care of and I’m on my way to reinforce you.”

“Acknow-” Inari is cut off by a wailing siren on her end and the immense sound of shuddering metal.

“What the hell was that?” Aidan shouts.

“Shit!” Inari yells. “Security Lockdown!”

“Fuck!” You hiss. A Security Lockdown of Cascora meant the a block would be complete sealed off. Blast doors would seal off the Halls and Elevator Shafts and the Maintenance Airlocks would be completely deactivated. Ventilation would shut down as well, leaving only a dozen or so hours of breathable air.

“Who’s inside?” You ask.

“Three, Four, and Me.” Takeo answers. “Dammit, how do we get out?”

You adjust your course, aiming for a Security Hub on your side of the station. “I’ll get to a Sec-Hub and see if I can’t override the Lockdown somehow.”

“Godspeed.” Aidan mutters. “They’re mounting a heavier offensive.”

“I’m at Target 3.” Leo says tersely. “Adjusting the Core settings now.”

You race through the halls of the station, unmindful of the attention you draw. Your teammates are trapped, and you’ll be damned if you let them die on your watch. Drawing within 50 meters of the Security Hub, you slow down, your heartbeat and breathing steady as ever, despite dashing hundreds of meters. The post itself is a squat, long building with no windows and a single entrance with two guards outside, a Salarian and an Asari. Bringing up a map of the area, you can see that there’s a larger entrance on the back end of the building for vehicles as well as a basement that extends under the neighboring warehouse. Checking the time, you see you have twenty-five minutes before the Eezo Cores overload.

No time for stealth. Run and gun!
>>
>>41744531
can you cloak again? If so do so, knife whoever is closer to you, use the stunner on the other one and then knife him while he's stunned. Then enter.
>>
>>41744531
If the station is made up of lots of little sections, and now all the sections are sealed off, can we simply pick up and run off with the section our friends are in after the whole place starts coming apart?

Assault the main entrance, use throw on the salarian and shotgun the asari
