You wait, like you normally do. Morrigan is always the one to give you really good explanations about the important things in life, like why you’re not going to get shot or hit, that you’re allowed to sleep on beds and other important things like that. She also explained to you what “tits” were and has helped keep you alive on several occasions. Only Mary has done nearly as much explaining and she’s not here right now, so you’ll trust Morrigan to explain things to you.

It takes her a minute to return to her normal coloration and her mouth moves a few more times before she finally shuts it. It’s another minute before she says anything and it’s not what you’re expecting.

“Billy,” she says, pointing to the top drawer of her dresser, “There’s one of the bottles we found in Salina in there and some cigarettes. Bring both of them here.”

You nod and go over to her dresser, opening the indicated drawer. Inside are a number of different bottles, glasses, a few packets of cigarettes, a lighter, a pistol and a few other things you aren’t really sure about. Picking up the indicated items as well as a lighter, you carry them back to Morrigan, who has shifted to one side of the bed. She takes the bottle first, but is stymied by the fact that she really only has one good arm since you tied her sling tight. Frustrated, she hands the bottle back to you so you can open it. You do so, handing it back to her where she takes it and takes a massive draw from it, tilting it back for a few seconds before letting it drop with a large sigh and a cough. She holds it out to you and you take it back, holding a cigarette for her.

“Drink,” she says, her voice tight, “Take a drink too Billy.”

You nod, handing her the lighter. As she lights her cigarette, you take a swig of the bottle. Burning fire shoots through your senses, causing you to lower the bottle and cough a few times. That’s nothing like what Doc serves you and Cath. When you stop coughing Morrigan holds out her hand for the bottle, taking it and having another swig.


“Sit,” she says, coughing once, “sit down Billy, I’m really not sure how this is going to go.”

You sit down on the bed next to her, turning your face towards her, though she remains facing forwards and you can only see half of hers.

“So, Billy,” she says, “Do you know anything about where kids come from?”

You shake your head no. You remember your mom and your dad, well, you remember you had them at least and a few bits and pieces. But you don’t remember much else.

Morrigan sighs as you shake your head, leaning back against the wall and finally turning to look at you. Pulling the cigarette out of her mouth she shakes her head. “You never make things like this easy do you Billy?”

You open your mouth to say something, but she waves her good hand at you.

“It’s not your fault,” she says with a sigh, “None of it is. Still hard to think of where to start…” She pauses for a minute. She sits upright again and shifts a bit. “Billy, do you know how men and women are different? Like, how my body is different than yours is.”

Morrigan drinks more, Nem disappears for a lot of time, Mary reads and Cath doesn’t talk at all. But it’s still a bit of a touchy time. You don’t think Sarah gets that much grumpier during her week and Bellona is mostly just grouchy.

“Right,” says Morrigan, “it’s called a womb. Kids…babies, grow inside of it.”

You nod.

“There’s a bit more to it than that, but…well…” she stops talking and looks down at the ground.

Besides, it sounds like she’s in there already. Moving to the door you open it and step inside, finding somebody that you didn’t expect, Bellona. Like Cath, she’s stripped down a little bit, leaving her upper body exposed except for her breasts. Unlike Cath she isn’t lifting a terribly large amount of weight, but it is a decent amount, somewhere around where you’re at.

You watch as Bellona finishes a few more reps before setting her weights down. She finally turns to look at you, surprise in her eyes.

“Done for now, she said she needed space,” you reply, watching as Bellona turns towards you and then stands.

You shrug, not sure if you spend a lot of time with Morrigan or not. Most of the time you are either with the whole group on a mission, in the building together doing various things or at Docs’s.

“Ah well whatever,” says Bellona with a smile, “You’re here now and I don’t mind.” She pauses and then leans closer to you in a conspiratorial manner. “Hey, how about you do some working out with me instead of Cath today hmm?” She grins, “I only just got started.”

But the every other day routine that you’re familiar with happens to be on this day, so you don’t see a problem with working out with Bellona. You work out with Cath, change the weights around on your turns, spot each other and lift at your own pace. So doing it with Bellona should be similar, if less weight to take on and off.

Bellona smiles at you, standing back upright and moving over to where she can start changing the weights.

“Alright Will, let’s get going then,” she says.

You nod to her, reaching down to pull off your shirt like you normally do and set it aside. As you turn around from putting it down, you see Bellona looking at you intensely. You stand there and let her do so; she’s probably trying to figure out how much you can lift or something similar. It takes a minute before she finally speaks up.

“You’ve really filled out lately haven’t you Will?” she says, moving closer to you.

You look down at yourself. You are quite a bit stronger than you were at The Compound and you like to eat everything that Mary puts in front of you. So you shrug. “Maybe?” you say, unsure as to what exactly she’s saying but pretty sure it’s about your muscles.

“Yeah,” she says looking back up at you, “You have.”

You just nod along in agreement. If she says so you probably have.

You watch as Bellona takes a few steps towards you, looking at your head. “I think you’ve gotten taller too…” She stops near you, reaching out a hand only to stop and pull it back. “To grow that much…even now…” she looks at your eyes again. Hers look…concerned, maybe worried.

You nod, moving over to the weights as Bellona helps you change them to a more appropriate amount. As you lift you mind drifts a little, you wonder what Bellona was talking about. Maybe you’ll find out some day.
