You look at the woman. "Do I... kno- oh wait, that Mark guy? He your boyfriend or something? Cute." Before she can start you turn back to Mai. "...um, 'wife?'" you repeat, with the finger quotes.

Mai looks a little awkwardly at you. "The, er... doll. Ran Ran."

Oh. "Wife." Ri- hey wait a second! "Was... that a crack at my height? Giving me a 'doll bed?'"

Mai's eyes go wide as her face becomes an expression of panic. "N-no! Just, uh, Emperor Pilaf thought it would be fitting, to have our guest of honor receive such a luxurious bed to sleep in."

You eye her suspiciously but let it go. Chi-chi and Bulma giggle softly as Launch smiles at you. In any case... "Say, uh, I don't really know much about you guys. How did you meet Pilaf?"

Mai seems a bit surprised by the question, then rubs the back of her neck. "Er... when I was about 10, I believe. Tried to sneak some money out of Emperor Pilaf's old castle. Almost got away, but was caught at the last minute by Shu. He found me a bit... resourceful, and offered to let me work for him. We've been together ever since."

"Wait, how old are you, exactly?" you ask. She looks like someone who's been with them for a while.

Mai blushes. "...Seventeen."

Bulma, Chi-chi, and Launch all look at her awkwardly. You find yourself doing it too. She... she looks like she's in her mid-20s, if not older. Damn.

"S-seventeen? Y-you uh... look so mature for your age." Oh Gods this is going to get awkward. "A-and, uh... r-rather pretty! Yeah." Smooth.

"It's... all right. I simply, er, grew up extremely quickly, faster than normal." She steps away, a little embarrassed. Gods...

The blonde woman turns to you. "Uh... w-well, good chance it's Hasky. She's escaped from jail more than once, and this seems to fit her style. Most didn't even realize they were robbed until days after the fact."

"Hah, the one Pilaf hired way back then? Funny how things seem to change like that. She's still a thief, and Pilaf here is having us all as special guests in his castle." Chi-chi comments.

You look to your partner. "Say, wanna talk any more strategy for tomorrow? I mean, I think we both know where our limits are, but anything you can think of?"

Chi-chi ponders for a moment. "Well, the Spirit Bits are probably going to be very useful. We shouldn't rely too much on them, though. Heh, I bet some people here will have a few new surprises."

You laugh. "Of course. Gonna meditate for a while, then get some rest. Wanna join?"

"Sure." she says with a nod. The two of you meditate for a while before bed, feeling a bit more focused when dawn breaks again. You and your friends make an effort to get ready early, Bulma still taking her time. You, Chi-chi, and Launch all get your Turtle School gis ready.

You, Chi-chi, and Launch all decide to check up on the boys. They all seem ready enough for the upcoming matches. Lapis and Lazuli are already by Krillin, encouraging their master, while Launch and Tien chat with each other again, Chiaotzu talking with them as well, and even Tao discussing things. Yamcha and Acer look at you and Chi-chi, smirking a bit. "You two ready to lose today?"

"Hah, as if. You're looking at this Tournament's Champions." Chi-chi taunts back.

"You girls should go home and play with your dollies. The REAL Champs are coming through!" a voice that you're starting to find annoying announces.

"Oh, hi Mark." you say, not even looking in the direction of the young man. "You're still here."

"Feh, you and your tricks won't save you now, Maple Mahogany!" he shouts louder. You give a glance in his direction, King Chappa's face planted firmly in his palm.

Krillin sighs a bit. "Too bad Goku isn't here to enjoy all this, he'd get a total kick out of it."

"Monkey boy's still stuck training, sadly. But we'll see him again. I know it." you say with a confident smile.

Chi-chi smirks a little. "Bet he'd be your first choice if he weren't."

You pout at her. "Chi-chi..." She just sticks her tongue out at you.

All of you finally head down, Pilaf waiting for you all at a Tournament stage. "My guests, thank you all again for coming. The rules of the Tournament will be simple, and familiar to those of the World Martial Arts Tournament. You are eliminated if both members of your team are knocked out for a 10 count, go out of bounds, or give up. You may switch fighters at any time in your match, or fight together, but the battle cannot become two-on-one. Disqualification will result if you both are fighting together for longer than a ten-count. Lastly, you may not kill your opponent. Are the rules all clear?"

You give Pilaf a nod, though Yajirobe speaks up. "About the tag switch thing, anything more to it than just that?"

"It's merely to make things both fair and interesting." Pilaf says with a smile. "Now, lastly, your teams will be paired up randomly. Since there are 32 fighters here in teams of two, that means eight matches total. And last but not least, the reward for the champion: 10 million Zenni each, and a special request that can be granted by the Mifan Emperor!"

Your eyes light up, as now things start to fall into place better. A lot of these fighters here might have a lot to gain from this, and this will certainly look good on Pilaf's record. Well well well... "Heh, anything within your power, huh?" Pilaf nods at you.

"Now, the first match will begin shortly. General Blue, if you'd please?"

"Of course, Emperor." the man replies, pressing a button on a console. A screen lights up above you all, and outside you can hear cheering. "The first match shall be... Nam and Bora against Tao and Yajirobe!"

You and your friends head over to watch the match, you and Acer cheering on Nam and Bora.

"The first match shall begin now!" Pilaf announces. Bora and Tao stay in the ring as their partners leave, staring each other down. Bora is the first to make his move, dashing at Tao and unleashing a powerful assault. However, the old assassin seems to not even try in his attempts at dodging; it's evident that as strong as Bora's gotten, Tao's gotten even stronger, and seems to be suppressing his ki. With one swift kick, Bora is knocked out of bounds, narrowly avoiding a large, hopefully decorative spear on a statue at the last moment.

"Too bad. Try again next time. Yajirobe, if you'd like to take the next opponent?" Tao asks as he walks towards the edge.

"Sure, sure..." the samurai boy says in almost a grumble as Nam steps in. The man takes his fighting stance, but it seems Yajirobe isn't even going to attempt to hide his strength; with a roar, the ground starts to shake a little, and all of a sudden Yajirobe's muscle mass expands dramatically and his strength doubling. He even seems taller than Nam, now.

"S-sis! That's just like... just like Master Roshi's thing!" Acer gasps.

"I... it is!" you mutter.

Nam tries to engage Yajirobe, and while you can tell that the samurai boy is a bit slower in this form, he's simply too strong for Nam to deal with. A failed attempt at the Cross-Arm Dive leads to Yajirobe catching him and tossing him out of the ring like a rag doll. After the match is officially declared over, Yajirobe returns to his normal self and lets out a grumble of "That worked up an appetite."

"Tao and Yajirobe advance, next match shall be..." Blue stops for a moment. "...Chiaotzu and Krillin against Giran and Midigiras."

Tao walks past the pale boy. "...I look forward to seeing the results of your training next match."

Like, every time someone, y'know, TAGS in, they step in from what would be considered out-of-bounds on an alien planet, and every time they TAG out, they have to step Out of the Ring while their partners comes to bail them out. How could anyone misconjure up a Tag Tournament this badly?

>>
>>41638093
I should not have had to clarify just how crucial it is that a Tag Tournament doesn't have a ring-out rule.
>>
>>41638108
I don't think you have to tag. They can just jump in as long as two people aren't in for 10 seconds.

I think
>>
>>41638150
Yes. On your own or with prompting from partner.
>>
>>41638184
So where does the partner stand? Like how do you specify when someone is out of bounds?

When they are knocked out by a enemy attack, but they can willingly walk out as long their partner is also in the ring?
>>
>>41638184
So, if someone's about to go flying from the ring and land out-of-bounds, they're saved if their partner gets up into the ring in the time it takes for them to fall?
>>
>>41638315
>>41638238

How many people don't want an out-of-bounds?

I kinda tried to prompt this earlier, people.
>>
>>41638483
Eh even then.

Lets say Blue Partner wants to help Blue Fighter. He steps into the ring and Red Partner immediately jumps up and knocks him back out of bounds before he can go very far.

Now is that a ring out or just status quo?
>>
>>41638528
I'm fine with it, it seems odd to not have it all things considered.
Really I don't get the people complaining honestly.
>>
>>41638528
>I kinda tried to prompt this earlier, people.
Curious about when that was? Oh well.

I don't want out-of-bounds in this tourney, too cheap.
>>
>>41638528

I personally don't mind since it's the same deal as the WMA tournament. It also gives people who aren't as strong but have superior technique to win in a way that doesn't involve slugging it out. It can level the playing field if the power gap between the fighters isn't *too* great.
>>
>>41638528
It's fine. Their fault for not noticing it earlier and bringing it up then.
>>
>>41638528
Just answer me this. Like this example
>>41638534

What if Acer and ChiChi are fighting and Yamcha goes to help and Maple immediately Kaiokens and knocks Yamcha back out of bounds when he puts one foot in the ring.

Is that an out of bounds?
>>
>>41638315
Of course not, the referees aren't stupid they'll see it for what it is, and he'll be out anyways.
>>
>>41638528

It is fine, easier to go with out of bounds.

Besides, with fliers it is harder to knock them out without depriving stamina first.
>>
People are going to complain when we lose by ring-out, people are going to complain when we win by ring-out.

Either way. People complain.
>>
>>41638560
>members of your team are knocked out for a 10 count, go out of bounds, or give up. You may switch fighters at any time in your match, or fight together, but the battle cannot become two-on-one. Disqualification will result if
Right there.
>>
>>41638528
Don't want it.
>>
How about, for the sake of continuity, the ring is surrounded by a "no fight" zone where fighters stand when their partner is fighting. Both fighters cannot be in it for 10 seconds or face forfeiting. Outside this zone is out of bounds.
>>
>>41638579
I'm pretty sure since no one announced anything both teams would lose a fighter, specifically the one that broke the rule.
>>
>>41638568
Tag Tournaments should not have ring-outs, it's common knowledge.

>>41638585
No, the out-of-bounds makes this way less interesting. Say, someone wants to tag in to help their partner, but the other team's partner runs interference on the one wanting to tag in, and during that interference, one or both of them ring-out. Wouldn't that be really shitty?
>>
>>41638606
They can fight for 10 seconds in the ring together. You yourself dont need to prompt I dont think.
>>
>>41638616
>but the other team's partner runs interference
That's called cheating. Yes, it sucks when people cheat.
>>
>>41638561
>It also gives people who aren't as strong but have superior technique to win in a way that doesn't involve slugging it out.
They should figure out a way that doesn't involve relying on pushing people out onto the grass.

So does Pilaf has a transformation since he's Makyan, or does he have to be under the Makyo Star?

Do Makyans count as demons or are they like King Piccolo and only a demonic looking creature? In each case however we've each king at least once. We've beaten three kings who hold the title of demon.

Pilaf himself has the title and is a kinda demon. Would he be able to wield Shula's sword? At least when the Makyo Star is over the Earth, he could be stronger than a bunch of people and now he has an army to surround himself.

He could play it nice for the long term, and Garlic Jr could be working the back drop, fueling him as a figure-head. With the sword he could open the dead zone and keep it open, so he could get his old man out too.

Ooooh. Kato I'm hoping this is an idea you've toyed with or at least thought about and then immediately thought 'nah thats dumb'.
>>
>>41638864
>>41638842
I like this rule, can we use it instead of the out-of-bounds?
>>
>>41639024
Eh she said that the fights aren't going to focus on ring outs, at least for us I assume so its whatever.
>>
>>41639050
It's how the tournament should go, if a contestant gets knocked out/down, they have 10 seconds to either get up or have their partner step in. If that partner isn't there to enter the ring within the time they're down on the ground, they both lose.
>>
>>41639095
Ooh, then both of opponents on the other team get to step into the ring at the same time to block that partner from getting into/stepping onto the ring.
>>
>>41639151
That partner trying to tag in could also delay his stepping onto the ring quite a bit to make this a risky move for the other team, threatening a disqualification if one of them doesn't get off the ring as soon as the partner steps onto it.
>>
>>41637778
You and Acer look over at the samurai boy. "That... how did you do that? Only other person we've seen do it was Master Roshi."

Yajirobe smirks at you both. "Is that so?"

Tao simply walks away quietly as Krillin and Chiaotzu step into the ring, Giran and Midgiras walking forward. Krillin and Giran face each other, and at the start of the match Giran immediately tries for his familiar trick... only for Krillin to leave an afterimage, appearing behind Giran and delivering a quick, silent chop to the back of his head. Giran coughs, and goes down. After giving a 10 count, and then checking for a pulse, the alive but clearly unconscious Giran is quickly declared one of the losers. You and your friends cheer him on, Lapis and Lazuli cheering the hardest. Giran's partner steps into the ring... and immediately takes to the air, trying to keep his distance from Krillin.

"Chiaotzu, tag in!" your friend asks, the pale boy rushing in and flying up... and then his whole body starts spinning, almost like a drill. The confused monster man stares at the boy for a moment, only for Chiaotzu to come bursting into the sky faster than he can react, crashing into him hard. While that knocks the wind out of the monster, Chiaotzu finishes the job by grabbing him by the tail and tossing him to the ground. After a 10 count for him, Krillin and Chiaotzu are declared the winners. Nam gets to work healing up the opponents, giving you a smile as he remembers what you did at the Tournament several months ago.

"Krillin and Chiaotzu advance!" Blue declares. "Next match shall be... Mark and King Chappa against Maple and Chi-chi!"

Mark lets out an uproarious laugh. "Time to show you jokers who you're dealing with!"

Chi-chi and you give him a bit of an annoyed glare. "...is he for real?"

You all take your places. Mark stares you down as King Chappa and Chi-chi wait.

How come a person was knocked down, and their partner wasn't in the ring to continue the match in the 10 seconds they were down? They should both lose if none of them are fighting in the ring for 10 seconds.
>>
>>41639553
>You are eliminated if both members of your team are knocked out for a 10 count, go out of bounds, or give up.
>You may switch fighters at any time in your match, or fight together, but the battle cannot become two-on-one.
>Disqualification will result if you both are fighting together for longer than a ten-count.
>Lastly, you may not kill your opponent.

That's all the rules there are, for reference's sake. I think there might have been some confusion over the "No 2v1" rule and the 10-second rule. Teams are only eliminated if both of their fighters are beaten via ring-out or knockout.
>>
>>41639553
Yeah, and then the injured person should be moved off the ring to a bench or something. If the person feels ready to go, they can wait until the end of the 30 second limit to tag back in if their partner isn't doing too well.
>>
That thing about foresight? That's gold.

Send Chi-Chi in first.
Wait for the perfect moment to get the Team Assist tag in for massive damage, do so.

Does Chi-Chi know Geist Magnum, or Dodonpa, or Phantom Shotgun, or Ki Jan Ken, or some other "WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE IT'S FUCKING FELDSPAR" tier attack?
>>
>>41639642
Pausing the match every time someone hits the floor is not in the spirit of a tag-team tournament.

Although, the TKO thing would apply if one partner gets knocked out three times or so, and wouldn't be allowed to rejoin the match anymore.
>>
>>41639734
Man, it's a good thing we had the two filler matches to hammer out all these hindsight realizations into potentially useful mechanics.
>>
>>41639747
I'm just enjoying the idea of Maple as a professional wrestler.

"You're going down, kid!" Mark roars as he rushes you. But... wow are his movements slow compared to what you're used to. You dodge effortlessly.

You close your eyes. "Those tricks you ridicule us for having are techniques that involve harnessing one's inner strength, their energy, and directing it outwards." You dodge several punches, then block a kick aimed at your face with a finger. "You can manage such things too, if you tried hard enough."

Mark backs up, glaring. "Grrrhh... you're getting annoying, you little-"

"Certain martial arts have learned to utilize this. You yourself seem like an accomplished martial artist, though you seem to disregard the other abilities. You're a bit narrow-minded."

"I've had enough of your speeches about those dumb tricks!" He lunges at you, shouting "DYNAMITE KICK!"

You catch him, then toss him into the air. He goes flying for half a second, then falls flat on his face. He stands, eyes hatefully gazing at you. He tries for one more attack... and you decide this is just getting sad. You dodge around him and grapple him by the waist. Thinking up something... aha! "MAHOGANY SMASHER!" Aaaaand SUPLEX. Mark hits the floor hard.

"Do you wish to tag out?" King Chappa asks with a somewhat smug grin.

"Shu-shut... up... I... don't need... your help..." Mark grumbles, trying to stand. He's more durable than he looks, at least. You leave an afterimage as he tries to grapple you, then strike him in the gut. Mark goes down, King Chappa letting him go for the 10-count before entering the ring himself.

"Well, he didn't want my help. Look where that got him."

"Chi-chi!" you shout. "Let's do this! Like we planed!"

King Chappa powers up, his Power Level well above 2000 now. He dashes in to try and strike you before you switch out... only to realize that you've left an afterimage. He quickly looks up, noticing you are standing next to an afterimage of Chi-chi. Both of them fade as Chi-chi tries to strike him from above.

It was a great plan. Except for when King Chappa appeared behind her and unleashing a flurry of strikes, as if he has eight arms. He left an afterimage as well. Chi-chi falls, but quickly gets back up, smiling. "I didn't think anyone would catch on to that so quickly."

"It was a valiant effort, girl. Sadly, you were just a bit too slow." Energy builds up in King Chappa's arms, and for a moment it looks like he is about to fire eight different energy attacks at once.

"Don't think so." Chi-chi comments, two Spirit Bits blasting at him before he unleashes his attack, the girl following it up with a series of powerful kicks to King chappa's stomach. He steps down, holding his gut in pain... then laughs.

"I... I see just how far the gap in our strength is. Ha... hahaha... I will concede for now. I surrender." King Chappa declares. Chi-chi stares at him for a moment, but bows, accepting her win.

"Maple Mahogany and Chi-chi are the victors!"

>>
>>41640386
Yeah, despite arriving for the last couple posts only. On that note, I asked a question up here, >>41639867, mainly because I half wonder about ki infused Dynamite Kicks.

So, Chappa has ki attacks now? That has to be interesting. If you don't mind, are they unique things or more basic energy attacks?
>>
>>41640386
The matches so far have been okay, there are some things I don't get however, like why no one's rushing in to fight when their opponent goes down, or no one fighting in the ring for 10 whole seconds not disqualifying dilly-dallyers.
>>
>>41640450
>when their opponent goes down
I meant to say "when their partner goes down," I mistyped.
>>
>>41639867
Yep. We could probably force Tao to apologize as well. Make him grow as a character and reveal insecurities about his hair.

Like Roshi and Shen made fun of him when they were younger, and it made him the reason he became an assassin.
>>
>>41640484
I think Tao sparing the life of Hercule's master is pretty much all we're going to get out of him.
>>
>>41640488
Yeah I think that was already a huge step for him.
>>
Hey Kato. How did the crowd like the fights so far?I hope the Kaijus cheered for us.

>>41639867

Mark and his master did end up encountering Shen and Tao, though instead of killing the man for making fun of his outfit Tao instead merely hospitalized him. He'll recover, but Mark wasn't too happy about the encounter. Tao barely gives a damn about what happened.

>>41640450
In all honesty I'm hella tired and have been running on empty while typing this. Sort of skipped dinner due to thing I've been helping my wife out with. Later fights should be a bit more well thought out. Apologies.

>>41640513
Baragon was cheering for you.
>>
>>41640488
Yeah...Let's be honest, he'd also probably have "accidentally" killed Bora on that spear too. Tao's just always going to be something of a dick.

>Baragon was cheering for you.
Good ol' Baragon!
>>
>>41640557
I don't think Mark will ever be the Champ, even if we miss a WMAT. Chappa will probably take that title if everyone is gone.
>>
If we win, could we do a business venture with the kaiju guys? Just to see what the hell would even happen?

Kato, what would any of the Kaiju teams' wishes be?

>>41640590
You never know, Chappa could end up having greater issues to take care of. I mean, he actually rules a country, right?
>>
>>41640557
>Later fights should be a bit more well thought out.
Oh, I just thought of a more refined version of >>41639734, if a contestant goes down for 10 seconds or longer, they're completely out of the match. If they get knocked down/out a third time during a match, they're completely out of the match, and it's all up to their partner then.

Also, I apologize for my tantrums earlier.
>>
>>41640578
By Super Sentai law this means we get a ranger version of Baragon and use him as our zord, by converting him into a machine mode.

Godzilla would go to Brobro and King Ghidorah would go to Chi-chi.

>>41640648
Baragon till death!
>>
>>41640574
He still thinks and fights like an Assassin, though he's taking the effort to not murder just because he can. He's changed a bit and has had to reconsider his lot in life, but things don't always do a 180 overnight.

>>41640590
There might be a chance, though it's less likely now.

>>41640603
>If we win, could we do a business venture with the kaiju guys? Just to see what the hell would even happen?
Baragon has a moderately successful lemonade stand.

>Kato, what would any of the Kaiju teams' wishes be?
Baragon kinda wants a stable job.
Ghidora wants information on Mifan's military capabilities and maybe some free cable.

Godzilla wants a free ride to DragonJersey for reasons.
Gamera wants to help the children of Mifan.

>>41640631
It's fine, man. I'll keep this in mind.

>>41640648

>>
Possible tactic for fights: Immediately healing Chi-chi as much as we are able when we tag in.
>>
>Mini-adventure featuring Godzilla and Brobro to DragonJersey
>Baragon is given a stable job at Capsule Corp. Watching the animals, especially the three stooges. While Maple works on designing a magical/techno-suit to let her based around Baragon in appearance.
Gamera teams up with Mike and trains him to be a Face to the children of the world.
Ghidorah and Chi-chi dive into training the Mifan military but need to learn to stop thinking the other is a spy.
>>
>>41640790
And then she does the same for us when she tags in again.
>>
>>41640705

>>41640805

>>41640796

>>41640803
Nam and Bora agreed that they'd like to get Mifan to help deal with some illegal poaching and mining going on in the Land of Korin that might be tied to Mifan itself. Pilaf's still sort of adjusting to everything, some shady things might be going on under his nose.
>>
Would using telekinesis be too much?
