Both you and Chi-chi give another series of visits to Kami's lookout. Training with Trip a little and learning more about Spiritual Ki, both you and Chi-chi manage to learn the first couple "steps" along the "Noble Eightfold Path." The steps of "wisdom," Samma Ditthi and Samma Sankappa. Trip explains them as such: Samma Ditthi gives a "right view" that allows you to better sense and be aware of yourselves and of others, a degree of greater understanding. Samma Sankappa is a form of "right resolve" that allows you to steel yourself, or another, and better defend themselves both mentally and physically.

You also notice that Goku's getting quite a bit stronger, his Power Level well past 6000 now. Both you and Chi-chi decide that you're not going to be left in the dust, and put forth the effort to train in the Gravity Chamber. You help her with her dodging abilities via your Spirit Bits, and through the repeated training you manage to not only increase the number of Bits you can call up, but also the number of "shots" they can fire. Now you have 4 of them that can shoot out 6 shots each. Chi-chi manages to pick up the technique as well, not to the same level you have them, but to a usable degree. All your friends also take turns with the Gravity Machine, getting quite a bit stronger themselves. Though you and Chi-chi sort of surprise them all...

You take some time to try out a new trick: using your Spirit Bits to act together as a temporary barrier. It's actually even easier to use than it sounds, making the four of them act as a sort of corners for a flat surface, evening out into a "shield" of sorts by expunging their shots and flattening them out. Though through testing you realize that it can only block one really powerful blast or strike before fading, as you quickly discover by having it block one of Chi-chi's Super Kamehamehas.

With all said and done, you feel like you're ready. Hell, you're more than just ready. You feel amazing. Your Power Level has clocked in at an unbelievable 7000, Chi-chi's at 5872. Gods, this Gravity Chamber idea has done wonders for your training. Bulma, along with some other scientists at Capsule Corp. seem to have been getting some use from it as well, testing new materials to reinforce the durability of Capsules, designing certain things that actually require Zero G for construction and testing, and more.

The day before the Mifan Tournament, you and your friends are actually given a personal escort plane to take you all to the region. Everyone seems pretty excited. While you could all fly there yourselves, it's nice to just relax for a bit. Plus, gives you some time to talk with everyone.

Lunch looks at you somewhat uneasily. "...don't want to jump to any conclusions just yet, but, there's something awkward going on in a place called Basil Town, south of West City, east of another place called Nicky Town. A number of disappearances, they seemed mundane at first but... then they kept happening. And still no known cause. Not even any ransom notes, or... bodies..." she says that word with a hint of disgust. "Francis, back at the department, was going to head to the area and get an eyewitness report, but a cat burglary spree in West City has distracted us all from it."

"When did all this start, anyway?" Tien asks with concern.

"Five months ago." Launch looks down. "...let's not focus on it right now. We got a Tournament to win, don't we?" she asks Tien with a little wink. The triclops blushes, but smiles.

As the plane lands at Pilaf's Palace, you're greeted by the cheers of the people of Mifan. The blue imp himself announces your arrival. "Thank you all for coming! And a special thanks to the current World Martial Arts Tournament Champion, Maple Mahogany, for so graciously coming to our humble land."

Acer looks around at the lavish decorations. "Don't know if 'humble' is the right word for it, but... certainly welcoming."

You notice a few familiar faces among the arriving guests. King Chappa with another fellow, a young man who seems to have a rather large afro but doesn't seem to be as strong as he's trying to present himself as. Some distance away are Nam and Bora. You also spot... Tao and Yajirobe?

"Before the Tournament begins tomorrow, I would like to invite all my guests, these strong fighters from around the world, to a special evening meal, featuring some of the finest Mifan cuisine."

You yourself decide to check out the competition. "So, decided to enter another Tournament, huh Tao?"

"My reasons for being here are my own." he answers noncommittally, eyeing Chiaotzu. Yajirobe looks at him and smirks a little.

"Well, surprised you're here as well." you tell the samurai boy.

"Gotta find some place to put my training to the test, and I got an invitation. Might as well." he says with a shrug.

You then head over to look at the other competition, making sure to get a mental note of thanking Pilaf during the meal. Nam and Bora have been doing good, with the older man having kept up his martial arts training and having perfected what you taught him about healing. Bora eventually climbed Korin's Tower and met with the cat himself. All of them seem to have Power Levels of over 1000 now. King Chappa has been getting stronger himself, and you notice his students not too far off, alongside another school's students. You look over the other person. "Haven't seen you in the other Tournaments. Do I know you?"

"The name is Mark Satan! And believe me, Maple Mahogany, your time as Champ is gonna be over soon. Your little tricks won't work on me!" he replies. King Chappa gives him a look that you can tell means "Oh not this again..."

You spot some other faces here, such as Baragon, who seems to be sitting with a three-headed golden dragon, and Giran, who seems to be with another member of his race. There also seems to be... that Godzilla fellow? Huh. He's with someone who looks like Roshi's baby Gamera, except bigger.

"A special toast, to the successful restoration of Mifan's prestige, and all the amazing warriors from all over the world who so graciously took it upon themselves to compete in this Tournament. And I would like to thank the young Champion, Maple Mahogany, for her suggestion to make this a Team Tournament as well. I am looking forward to you all doing well!"

"Ah, my old land was once quite wealthy, but sparsely populated. Still have some natural resources, but Mai, Shu, Blue, and a few others are all that are left from before Mifan. I'm descended from a line of great rulers, you know." he explains with a bit of pride in his voice. "In any case, this little stunt has boosted Tourism tremendously. I should try to hold something like this again!"

You eat a bit of your meal, an exotic, almost meaty-tasting kind of yellow rice. "So... what exactly is the prize of the Tournament? If there is one, I mean."

Pilaf smirks a little. "Ah ah ah, no peeking. The prize isn't just any normal prize. I have to keep special guard over it."

You laugh a little, then look around the table. There's Krillin and Chiaotzu still talking, the boy looking a little nervous, but Tien being there as well seems to calm him a bit.
