>Inari Keita [Female]
>Takeo Niten [Male]
>Sonali Vasusena [Female]
>[Write-In]

Date of Birth:
>01/17/2157

Physical Characteristics:
> Tall, Muscular build, straight red hair, green eyes, pale skin, freckles
> Average height, Lithe build, black eyes, close cropped black hair, dark brown skin

Origin:
>Orphan: You were a Ward of the State and spent your entire life in an Alliance Orphanage. It wasn’t the most pleasant upbringing, but you do have some fond memories of your friends and your time there. You enlisted shortly after your 16th Birthday, seeking to live life on your terms.
>Nuclear Family: You had a completely normal upbringing with loving parents and a single sibling, who you have a good relationship with. You enlisted shortly after your High School Graduation at age 18, something your parents didn’t entirely approve of but accepted.

[CONT.]
>>
>Broken Home: Your Mother died a few years after you were born and your father was an Alcoholic who abused you verbally and physically. His death was probably the best birthday present you ever got, and you took the opportunity to enlist a few days after you turned 17.
>Military Brat- Your parents were both Military and you spent the vast majority of your childhood aboard various ships and stations throughout Alliance Space. Your parents were loving but firm, and were approving of your decision to join the Military when you turned 18.
>Street Kid- You grew up on the streets, fighting for scraps of food and shelter. The closest thing to a family you had was the gang you ran with in your teens. Of course, when your luck ran out and you were faced with the choice of enlisting or doing time, you took the former. You were 16.

“I’ve dealt with the majority of those, but the other Councilors are already backing out of most of the Anti-Reaper Measures.”
“Are you sure you want to continue with-”
“I’d stake my life on it, Ambassador.”
“Very well.”
“In any case, what we agreed to discuss today was the proposal of new Spectre candidates. We need to push some through while we still have some clout left.”
“Agreed, who do we have on the list?”
“Primarily N7s, although a few I7s are in there as well.”
“What about the former crew of the Normandy?”
“Most are dead and the two that met our initial criteria, Ashley Williams and Kaidan Alenko, are unavailable at present.”
“Unavailable?”
“Both are currently at Vila Militar, undergoing Special Forces training. They won’t be ready for a few more months and we need to push our candidates through ASAP.”
“Alright then, out of those we have, who is our best choice?”

You stand up and stretch your arms above your head, feeling your spine pop a little. Sure, you’ve gotten some major upgrades but your body still has a habit of stiffening up if you don’t move for a few hours. Grabbing your water bottle and taking a swig, you walk out of your cabin into the mess hall. Looking to the center table, you see your second in command, Leonard Delamere, playing Poker with your other squadmates, Aidan MacRossa, Takeo Niten and Inari Keita. At the moment, it looks like Takeo is winning, judging from the pile of tokens in front of him but you can tell his hand is crap, judging from the way he’s smiling.

“All in.” He says, shoving his pile into the center.

“Fold.” Inari says, the African woman tossing her cards onto the table in disgust. “I swear you cheat.”

“Same,” Aidan says as he places his cards down, his Irish brogue becoming more pronounced in his anger. “Too rich for me.”

“I’ll match you.” Leo says with a grin, moving his meager pile into the center and placing his cards down on the table. Three 7’s and a pair of 4’s. Full House.

Takeo’s smile fades as he sees Leo’s cards. “Goddammit LT. I almost had you.” He says, revealing his hand with an Ace, Four, Six, Two and Jack. Complete junk.

Leo’s smile grows wider as he sweeps the pile in. “You never had me. I was just letting you think you got ahead.”

Inari looks up from the game, noting your presence in the room. “Better wrap up boys, Commander’s here.”

You sigh and slump onto the table, “You guys should really tell me when you do this so I can join in.”

Aidan shrugs, his expression solemn, “Sorry Love, we thought you were busy.”

Inari nods, keeping a straight face, “Didn’t want to disturb you.”

Takeo crosses his arms and leans back in his chair, looking serious. “It appeared as though you were engaged in very important work.”

You look between each of them. “... This is because of what happened on Christmas, isn’t it?”

The squad holds their expressions for a few moments, before finally bursting into laughter.

“Honestly Sona,” Leo chides, “you cleaned out Alpha through Zeta. You’re never going to get a game with anyone in the Alliance, ever again.”

“Not my fault their tells were so obvious,” you grumble, glaring darkly at your squad. You’re good at reading people. Had to be if you wanted to- You clamp down on those thoughts, shoving them into some corner of your mind. He’s gone, you tell yourself.

“Yeah, sure, lets go gear up first.” You say as you stand up.

You lead Epsilon Squad to the elevator and board it, hitting the button to the cargo bay. For several awkward minutes, the only sounds in the room are a quiet hum as the elevator descends and the light breathing of your squad.

Up until Inari mutters, “This elevator is so bloody slow.”

That draws a few chuckles.
Stepping out of the elevator, you take note of the crew as you make your way to the lockers set up on the left side of the Cargo Bay. The Tiger, your squad’s IFV, is lifted up on a hydraulic press near the back wall while your engineering crew pokes around in its guts. You’re glad you’re not going to need it for this mission. On the right wall, you see Wang, the Trenton’s Quartermaster, indexing several crates of supplies. He nods to you before returning to his work.

Setting the breastplate on the Workbench, you trace your finger along the some of the scoring in the ceramic plates. Each one is a story unto itself. You rub some of the dust off the “N7” emblem on the chest, reminiscing about what you went through to earn it. Well worth it, you’d say. You slot the Logic Arrest over your standard omni-tool and run it through start-up. Boot-up is always a bit slow but once you get the processors going it should be fine. Bringing up the Module Interface, you double-check your selections and scan them for Data Corruption.

Modules: [Recharge Times Can be Shortened by Overclocking the Module, but will run the risk of Crashing or other Issues]
>Scan: Reveals information on selected target such as power readouts, shield strength, and other useful data. Can also paint the target on the users HUD and the HUDs of those within the user's Tactical Network. [No Recharge Time]
>Cloak: Creates a holographic screen around the user that mimics the surroundings while spoofing most electronic detectors. [Lasts Until Dismissed or Disrupted, 5 Turn Recharge Time between uses]
>Drone: Deploys a small autonomous hovering drone that comes equipped a short range fusion cutter that can be used for offensive and utility purposes. Possess a simple VI that can follow commands from a preset list or directly from the user. [Lasts Until Dismissed or Destroyed, 5 Turn Recharge Time between Uses]
>Fortification: Reinforces Armor with Non-Newtonian Fluids to provide extra protection. [Lasts Until Dismissed or Overwhelmed, 4 Turn Recharge between Uses]
>Overload: Fabricates and Fires a small EMP capable of shorting out Weapons, Shields and Armor. [2 Turn Recharge Time]

We pretty much use it for our shields and some small stuff. We're meant to get physical.
>>
>>41616505
Nah, we're meant for operating!

Remember the number one rule of combat, if you can hit the enemy where they can't hit you, you've probably already won!

Of course, if we need to smash some heads, that's our bread and butter. Still, running towards the enemy to hit them with your sword is a good way to get sniped.
>>
>>41616375
>>[SF-3 “Unity” | Special Issue, Inflexible but Safe | Prevents Critical Failures of Biotic Powers]

Anti Ultra fail is a GO!
>>
>>41616550
Either way, due to creation, our biotics feel like they're purely for utility purposes.
>>
>>41616736
Oh, yeah, I just didn't want people to think we should use melee as a first resort. That's bad. That's how you get shot.
>>
>>41616736
We also need to learn blitz as soon as possible for optimal punching ability.
>>
You slot the small device into the jack at the base of your skull and briefly flex your Biotic Field around your body. The amp hums slightly in the back of your mind, bringing you up to readiness level but keeping you there. It tingles briefly, but the feeling subsides as your Barrier winks to life around you.

[Barrier Strength: 100%]

It’s an easy thing to use, invisibly adhering to the surface of your body. It’s weaker now, but when you channel it through the boosters in your armor, it should be more than enough for most situations.

You mentally review your Repertoire of Biotic Powers:

>Barrier: Instead of Shields, Biotics rely on their innate powers to generate a protective Mass Effect Field around themselves. They can manually refresh their Barrier if they wish instead of waiting for it to recharge. [1 Turn to Recharge When Overwhelmed, but can be strengthened or recharged quickly when depleted with a Biotics Check]
>Disruption: Allows Interference with other Mass Effect Fields, eroding or possibly negating them. [No Recharge, requires Biotic Checks to function]
>Pull: Lifts and Suspends Targets in a Mass Effect field that simulates Zero Gravity. Weak against Shields and Barriers. [3 Turn Recharge]

{Calling the Vote}

{Vindicator wins}
>>
You place your Cobra on top of your breastplate and heft your Savage onto the table itself. Giving the weapon a good inspection, you find the it’s in excellent condition. You couldn’t believe your eyes when you pried the gun from the grip of a dead Batarian Slavemaster. Since then, the weapon has been your favorite. You fish your Vindicator BR out of the locker as well, giving it a quick inspection and placing it next to the Savage.

Turning to regard your squad, you see that Leo has already finished his checks, and is tinkering on a rifle at his workbench. Behind him, Inari is strapping on her Armor in front of her locker. Aidan is still running a check on his Missile Launcher. Takeo, a graduate of the N7 Mastery Program, is already fully suited up in his Slayer BDU, a pistol on each thigh and wiping his sword down with a rag.

You turn to look at your armor and weapons again. You’ve got plenty of time before you arrive in the system.

“Right, so.” You say, getting everyone’s attention, as you bring up the Mission Briefing on your Omnitool. “Operation Nightsbane.”

You project the image of the fourth moon of the system’s lone gas giant upwards in front of your team as they stop what they’re doing and gather around. The pictured moon is reddish with wispy white cloud cover here and there. A few fingerstrokes manipulates the image to zoom in on a space station orbiting the moon. It’s chunky, a real eclectic collection of parts that were somehow fitted together.

“Cascora is a pirate haven.” You begin. “Dozens of ships stop by to offload cargo or refuel here every week. The proximity to Omega and the Attican Traverse makes it a key spot on the pirate supply line. Without it, only larger and more well-established pirates would be able to make the crossing between the Terminus and Citadel Space. The pirates know it, and the result is that pretty much all of them are willing to defend it when it’s attacked. Nothing short of a battlefleet would be able to assault it effectively and sending one of those into the Terminus would be a tantamount to a declaration of war on the Batarians. The result would be a stalemate, if it weren’t our colonies in the Traverse that are getting hit. Command has had enough, so they sent us in.”

“What’s our job then?” Leo asks.

You smile, “We’re going to blow it up.”

I don't know about you guys, but I'm beat. I really wanted to be faster and deliver longer updates, but I'm a really shitty typist.

I may end up running tomorrow. If not then, then probably next Weekend.

I can stick around to answer questions and address concerns for a bit while I get ready for bed.

Oh, right.

@SleeplessQM

Also, thread has been archived, I'd appreciate you guys voting it up.

And I forgot something important: QM Challenges.

Basically, I'll pose a question, if you guys answer it right, then you get a Fate Point.

1. What is the likely reason for choosing this QM Handle?

2. What theme do the names "MacRossa", "Keita", "Niten", and "Vasusena" have in common?
>>
>>41618898
>2.

Musicians
>>
>>41618938

Sadly, no.
>>
>>41618898
Well if Vasusena is a moblie suit in some minor Gundam stuff they are all some kind of mobile suit
>>
>>41618898
I just found this thread and caught up, thanks for running, let us know when next thread will be on your twitter.

1. no idea, maybe as its one of the core values of N7 soldiers in their creed?
2. haven't the faintest
>>
>>41618898

... The second one is surprisingly well thought out. But Google pretty much did the entire thing for me.

Fergus Mac Roich, Sundiata, Musashi Miyamoto and Karna.
>>
>>41618836
If I may? Get shit written up in advance. Sure, it's prep, but at least you can put in text faster. And include anon suggestions (like that poker game line, neat touch) just as easily.

Honestly, for what amounted to be mostly chargen, that was pretty neato.

>>41618898
Vasunesa is the original name of Karna from the Indian Mahābhārata epic.

Keita references the Sundiata Keita, an epic of the founding of Mali.

Can't find the other ones quite yet, but those stood out the most for me. My guess is epics.
>>
>>41619073
Oh. Oh right. Well, don't I feel stupid now.
>>
>>41618980

First I'm hearing of that.

>>41619017

1. Good Guess, but no.

>>41619073

Correct!

>>41619096

And you were really close. Thanks for the Advice.

Is it because the achievement you get for completing ME on Insanity is called medal of valor?

This can help, but can only go so far, so laying the groundwork on what you want to cover in the thread, basic plot points and characters to interact with, and having a rough idea of what you want to cover or explore already formulated in your mind can help greatly, as can having these notes written down to reference so its not all mental guesswork, but don't try to pre write every choice or post of the thread, that doesn't work well.
>>
>>41619117
I want to say for chargen it does help, but yeah, otherwise it'd be too much work and you'd probably feel like you're just copy-pasting prehashed responses to yourself. If others haven't caught on.
>>
>>41619112

A good guess, but now

>>41619117

That's what I was thinking. I have framework set up, but I think I'll write out some plot points.
>>
>>41619139
I find having bullet points of the basic ideas and directions I might want to cover written on a notepad to remind myself and rejig my memory helps, and then I just fill in the blanks in my head and let the votes guide and shape the posts.
>>
>>41619171

Thanks for the help.

I'm gonna go to sleep now. Night.
>>
It's Valor because your real name starts with a V.
>>
>>41618898

I dunno if you'll see this before the thread autosages but Valor follows the naming scheme of the Prothean VIs (Vigil, Victory, Vendetta).
