Mine is the only store in all of Pidjata to do so, that I know of at least. Sure you can find trinkets scattered throughout the markets, but they're worthless.”

You channel vys, conjuring illusory replicas of the various artifacts you have shoved into your cloak, your manifold armors and weapons, many of which you rarely if ever use. “Oh, believe me when I say that I have artifacts to spare, but if you're going to persist in screwing me over with these prices there's nothing I can do. I'll have to supply my companions from my own stock. I have a suit of armor I believe would suit Mortia's needs, and a staff I'm sure my sister could take advantage of...”

That gets his attention. “Very well, we'll begin negotiation from eighteen thousand silver and work from there. That's two hundred fifty for the mace, four hundred for the belt, and five hundred fifty for the crown.”

Still more than you can afford with cash alone, but if you put a few artifacts up for barter, you should walk away with money to spare.

You reach into your cloak, pulling out a SMG and a few clips of ammunition, laying them out in front of you. That really seems to get the shopkeeper's attention. You're not done though. You pull out three suits of Technician's Armor and stack them on top of one another. They're lightweight, but fairly sturdy. Not really armor so much as simply clothing. Then you pull out the suit of Optio Armor you bought Profectus so long ago in Anthus. Last, but not least, you add the enchanted gauntlet you pried off a corpse at the bottom of the Mines of Longia to the pile.

A silence stretches between you and the shopkeeper before he finally breaks the silence. “I'll take fifty gold off the price per suit of Technician's armor, a hundred gold off for the Optio Armor, twenty gold off for the gauntlet, and fifty gold off for the Rhynian device.”

Well, that at least moves everything into your price range. You'd still need to drop about thirteen thousand silver on just this purchase alone. You think you can get better than that, you think you can get way better than that. “What are you, a cock smoker? Quit trying to fuck me. A hundred each for the suits of Technician's Armor, three hundred for the Optio Armor, fifty for the Gauntlet and five hundred for the 'Rhynian Device'. It's not Rhynian make, incidentally. It's like one of their Officer's Pistols if their officers pistols could fire sixty rounds in under a minute.”

It's a glorified piece of scrap metal in the state it's in.” He pauses when he comes to the SMG. “Three hundred for the device.”

This back and forth carries on for quite some time but eventually you manage to worm the price for all your various artifacts combined up to eight hundred gold, meaning you only need to pay out four hundred for the mace, crown, belt, pendant, and book. You tuck the crown, belt, and book into your cloak while giving the Dragonhead Mace and the Shield Pendant to your sister Pratima.

She's obviously grateful for both, and maybe a little stunned at the sheer number of obscenities you just spent the last half hour or so spewing at the old shopkeeper. Mortia, by contrast, is far more polite. At the same time, she gets a far crappier deal. It's not really a bad deal per se, she walks away four hundred gold lighter starting at six fifty, but it was obvious that she could've gotten better. Really, you're forced to wonder if the shopkeeper is partial to humans because he was going easy on her.

Took longer than I would have liked but the gear puts us in a better position to handle Elaudia. And we may have gotten a lead on where to find the key to Mahana's vault in that book. Getting shit for Pratma doesn't really help us right now, sure, but she owes us now which might be useful in the future. Also hopefully she is less likely to die from being a scrub.
